- CHAPTER #27 - THE BOOKS

The game has received an overhaul in order to correct all detected bugs and provide a better experience for players.

A player, Kazok the Goblin, gave me some suggestions and good ideas and I have decided to incorporate them into the game.

This patch is also intended to balance the game even more.

- CHANGELOG 1.1 -

CHANGES TO THE BOOKS (Kazok the goblin)
- Books no longer take up space in your inventory.
- Found books are stored on the books page and remain there to be read again.
- New page: Books obtained.
- Slightly increased chances of finding a Book of Magic when searching for books in libraries (2 of 17).
- Added new book: Gods IV
- Added new book: Chronicles VII
- Added new book: Chronicles VIII
- Deleted the book Atlas V. The information of the book Atlas V is now contained in the book Atlas IV.

CHANGES TO THE STORIES
- If the players achieve peace for the Three Kingdoms, this is reflected in some of the texts of different adventures. (Only free mode) (Kazok the goblin)

CHARACTER CLASS IMPROVEMENTS
- The ROGUE class now starts the game with the throwing weapon 'Darts'.
- The ASSASSIN class now starts the game with the throwing weapon 'Javelins'.
- The initial NECROMANCER spell, 'RAISING SKELETON', now creates 2 skeleton allies in combat instead of 1. (Damage 1 > 2).
- New spell for the PRIEST class: Expel Demons. This spell can only be obtained by praying in the High Temples as Priest.

THROWING WEAPONS
- Added 3 types of throwing weapons that can be found as loot when defeating enemies or bought in the markets.

IMPROVEMENTS
- Now, after replacing an item in the inventory, the inventory becomes directly selectable so that weapons, armour and spells can be exchanged without having to leave the inventory and 'replacement' mode.
- Now when loading a saved game, it automatically writes the name of the game in the Save box to make it easier to save the game. Now you don't have to type the name of the game every time you want to save it.
- Some additional small improvements in the inventory.
- Some sounds have been improved.

OTHER ADDED
- Added new spell that can be found in scrolls sold in markets, or in Magic Runes circles: MAGIC SHIELD. This spell is only available to characters with a value higher than WIS 11.
- Added new option in the quest 'The End of Times' where you can use the map just before reaching Valeria's castle.

GENERAL CHANGES
- The chest item can now be opened directly by clicking on it in the inventory. It gives 3 coins when opened and the chest is then discarded. However, players can still sell the locked chest in inns and markets for 4 coins.
- The introductory text of the story 'Song of Kings and Wars' has been slightly modified.
- The final texts of the story 'The Lost City' have been changed to give a better description of the ending.
- Slightly modified the text when arriving at King Huw's castle in the story 'The Last Battle'.
- Changed the location for cooking from the entrance of the Dark Rock to the previous page of the Sobara Desert. ('The Dark Rock' story). Also added an option to return from the Dark Rock entrance back to the Sobara Desert.
- In the story 'The End of the Times', when you find the peasants burying the dead, the necromancer class no longer generates a 'Loot corpses (Evil Only)' option but a 'Listen to the dead' option. (This has been done to avoid exploits). However now on that page, the Necromancer also gains the option to 'Bury Corpses'.
- Changed the image of the Demon King.
- The image of the 'Acid Splash' spell has been rotated.
- Two of the desert oasis images have been slightly improved.
- The position of the small fallow deer that may appear on the first page of the Snowy Lands has been corrected to give more depth to the image. ('The Ring of King Agmar' story)
- Reduced waiting time to turn to the next page when using wineskin in the Sobara desert. ('The Dark Rock' story)

BUGFIXES
- Fixed a bug where a player with a full inventory would find an item or spell that would increase his attributes, but would eventually not add it to his inventory and the bonus granted by the spell or item would still be added to the character.
- Fixed some bugs in the treasure room of the Serpent Tower in the story 'The Barbarian'.
- Fixed a bug that caused 1 point of damage to the enemy when trying to summon skeletons with the necromancer in combant while already having an ally.
- Some text was missing in 'The End of the Times' story, indicating the experience points awarded for your actions in some options.
- Fixed a glitch that did not show the image of the Main Hall of Prince Cobra's Palace when you reached it by opening the locked door with a lock pick ('The Cobra's Ark story).
- Corrected a typographical error in the action of selling horse in the stables.
- Corrected a text, which did not appear in the appropriate place in the paragraph, when praying to the statue of Agmar in the story 'The Temple by the Sea'.
- Fixed a mistake in some words of the opening text of the adventure 'The Ring of King Agmar'.
- Corrected some texts at the beginning of 'The Labyrinth' story where the texts did not match the images shown
- Removed text when talking to the Mushroom Man at the start of the Labyrinth that indicated a die roll that did not occur and was not necessary. ('The Labyrinth' story)
- Added information from a die roll obtained in the story 'The Labyrinth', which was missing from a particular option.
- Added information from a die roll obtained in the story 'The Barbarian', which was missing from a particular option.
- Some texts have been revised to improve their display format.
- Fixed a bug where the dice sound would not occur on a failed roll on page 271.
- Some texts have received minor corrections.

After a year of work, HEROES OF BOOK & PAPER is now complete. This version 1.0 includes all the stories that make up this fantasy world.

After a year of updates, new content added, fixes and improvements, the juice is now complete.

With a few final details to be polished, HB&P is ready to be played in full, with its 12 adventures.

The release date will be this Sunday, 18 June.

RELEASE OF HEROES OF BOOK & PAPER 1.0

The release date of version 1.0, which will include all the stories, is approaching. A number of improvements and minor changes will also be added.

I would like to thank the community for their support, those of you who have played HB&P, and those of you who have given me your suggestions and ideas. Thank you, without you it wouldn't have been possible. I would also like to thank the community of independent game developers who have given me so much advice. It has been a journey where I have met a lot of good people.

But this journey does not end here. I still have a mountain of ideas for the game, and many of them are very usable, so I will continue to include new free content and new improvements even after launch.

- CHAPTER #25 - THE DARK ROCK

The game's release from Early Access is just around the corner. With the core of the game now almost complete, all that remains to be added are the last two quests and the finishing touches.

This new update, update number 25, brings a new adventure complete with 4 different endings and available for both free mode and campaign mode. The food cooking system has also been revised, making this option more interesting and above all more useful.

Here is the changelog v.0.9.3:

ADDED
- Added new adventure!, for free mode and campaign: The Dark Rock.
- Added new item: Food. It is a discarded item that allows players to recover 5 HP.

CHANGES
- The system of cooking at rest locations has changed. Now cooking mushrooms, meat or fungus, instead of directly giving the HP increase, generates a food item that can be used even later in the quest (or in other quests).
- The Dark Fungus item can now also be cooked.
- Healing potions now recover up to 7 HP instead of 5.
- In the story 'The Funeral March' the option to Rest (+3HP) has been changed to cooking food in the camp.
- Changed the Red Dragon's stats. It is now slightly more dangerous.
- Amplified torch sound.

BUGS FIXES
- Fixed a bug that prevented you from protecting yourself from goblin arrows with the shield if it was equipped. ('The Funeral March' story)
- Fixed a bug when buying +1 Bow in the markets. Instead of paying 7 coins, as indicated by the price, 6 coins were paid.

MINOR UPDATE

In this update, some images of the game have been modified and some minor bugs (mainly text bugs) have been fixed.

- CHAPTER #24 - THE BOOK & THE CROW

This update gives players more possibilities to find resources to recover their lost HP, and to make the search for books in library locations more interesting. I have also added a gauge to let players know what level their character is.

Changelog v.0.9.1:

IMPROVEMENTS
- Now the Sobara desert in the story 'The Barbarian' can generate a different additional image.

ADDED
- A character level indicator has been added. This addition is purely cosmetic, but I know that players like to see their characters level up. (If you load a game prior to this version, the game will assume the character is level 1 regardless of how powerful they are. Sorry for the inconvenience).
- Added new item: Book of Magic. This item has a 1 to 15 chance of being generated in a library when searching for books, and gives a character with WIS 10 or higher a powerful spell when reading it (the higher the WIS, the more powerful the spell).
- Added an image of a crow that can appear procedurally perched in some trees (it makes sound too).

CHANGES
- Increased the chance of Weak or Average enemies dropping Healing Potions as loot when defeated.
- Changed the image of the Vulture Griffin.
- Slightly modified desert image #3.

BUGS FIXES
- Fixed a bug that occurred when obtaining an item with a full inventory. If the player did not replace the found item with an item from his inventory and closed the inventory, when entering and clicking on an item, that item would disappear.
- Corrected value obtained on die rolls when getting a spell on runic circles.
- Removed text that should not appear when finding a gold necklace when digging on the beach in the story 'The Cobra's Ark'.

- CHAPTER #23- SONGS & WINE

In a few months (few), the game will move from Early Access to the v1.0 release. We are already very close to reaching that milestone.

In the meantime, following suggestions from players, I've added a few more healing possibilities to our character in the game (and more to be added in the future), improved some graphics, a couple of new music tracks for the combat and some text fixes.

- CHAPTER #22 - JARGAK'S ADVENTURES

...and that, as I tell you, is how the mighty wizard Jargak appeared at the gates of Valeria's castle...

This is a short update while I develop the next story.

A player, Jargak, has given me valuable feedback on the game and I wanted to make a small update in his honour.

Here are the changes (v.0.8.9):

IMPROVEMENTS
- Added a new code block that checks that quests during the campaign cannot be repeated when playing a new campaign after another, or changing the game mode from free to campaign (Credit: Jargak).
- Some improvements to the display of the options button on some pages and revision of 'invisible' buttons. (Inspired by Jargak's suggestions).
- Armour offered for sale by blacksmiths has been reviewed. They now depend on the strength of our character.

CHANGES
- Changed generic coastal images (#0, #1, and #2).
- Changed the desert images that appear in the adventure 'The Barbarian'. (also for the story 'The Cobra's Ark')
- Changed the image of the Blacksmith in the adventure 'The Temple by the Sea'.
- The text of some runic stone circles has changed.

BUGS FIXES
- Fixed an issue with a small invisible button on the inventory page (Credit: Jargak)
- Fixed a small graphical bug on the carriage in the quest 'The Funeral March'.
