Hide or Die

Alpha v1.0.9

We have had a few hotfixes go out.

-Fixed spectator cam in free spec felt like driving a car more than a camera
-Removed the ability to custom name your server because some people were being incredibly unnecessarily vulgar. One always ruins it for the rest. We will develop a filter system for final release.
-Fixed multiple old servers showing as games in progress. Now I renamed games in progress
-Screen percentage should be getting set more regularly now to prevent blurry screen. If so just go in the settings and make sure you adjust your screen percentage. (I may have broke this)
-Added a ten second delay before escapes open up after the last fuse box is activated
-Slightly increased fuse box cool-down time
-Added an extra fuse box per section as requested (Not total needed, just total available) This helps prevent the hunter from being able to sprint back and forth between just two fuse boxes
-Removed one escape from the docks and moved it into a location so the hunter can't escape camp
-6 people can now escape
-Re-enabled the correct fuse box configuration audio to give player a bit of feedback on the correct switch
-Spec cam now will keep the lobby player info up on the screen
-If you press the comma key while spectating you can turn off/on the display of fps
-Theme volume is reduced in half.
-Removed showing currently in progress games from the server browser that you are unable to join anyway
-Auto refresh server list on opening the join menu
-Implemented a better automatic version checker to make sure people are up to date
-Added a current players online count to the host and join server menus
-Fixed the mismatch between escape UI total and actual number of escapes allowed. UI said 6 but game was only allowing 4 escapes. It now properly allows 6 escapes. Saw this one on Spooleo's twitch stream

Updated to v1.0.6

Hey everyone v1.0.6 is now live on steam. If you log into the game without updating there should be a prompt that instructs you to update so everyone can be on the same version now! The bug fix/update list looks like this:

-Fixed spectator cam in free spec felt like driving a car more than a camera
-Removed the ability to custom name your server because some people were being incredibly unnecessarily vulgar. One always ruins it for the rest. We will develop a filter system for final release.
-Fixed multiple old servers showing as games in progress. Now I renamed games in progress
-Screen percentage should be getting set more regularly now to prevent blurry screen. If so just go in the settings and make sure you adjust your screen percentage.
-Added a ten second delay before escapes open up after the last fuse box is activated
-Slightly increased fuse box cool-down time
-Added an extra fuse box per level (Not total needed, just total available) This helps prevent the hunter from being able to sprint back and forth between just two fuse boxes
-Removed one escape from the docks and moved it into a location so the hunter can't escape camp
-6 people can now escape

Don't worry if someone doesn't see this update to restart steam to get the latest version, when they launch the game our new system forces them to update! You can try it yourself by just launching the game if steam is already open. We do a version check and force the player to update :)

Enjoy!

Alpha Patch v1.0.5 Has Arrived!

We have had a few patches on the backend but this is a big boy. This is v1.0.5 and it has a very long bug list, so long in fact I can't even post it because it exceeds the 2000 char limit by itself.

This is our 5th patch for the game since the launch and it is an important one because it brings in some nice quality of life things like, ability to bind your keys, see servers that are currently playing games (but prevents you from joining for obvious reasons), End game widget notifications to try and prevent just getting kicked to the main menu without a notification. You can now leave the game with the ingame leave button, better stat tracking which we will share with you at the end of the alpha! I wonder who has spent the most time inside the trashcans? We also implemented a system that does a version check and forces you to close the game and get the update before you can play. This will make sure we have everyone on the same version for bug reporting/feedback/and seeing more servers. So many things we are excited about and lots and lots of bugs fixed.

We will not be releasing anymore keys until valve approves some for us, because they are all gone! The feedback from you guys has been incredible, the bug reports so helpful, and the love and understanding. Enjoy this change list, the build is live now so be sure to restart steam! We need everyone on v1.0.5

Alpha Patch v1.0.5 Incoming!

We are overwhelmed with the response in our discord and so was our bot. Our first day of alpha key giveaways was botted hard and the demand for keys was absolutely incredible. So much so that it destroyed our key bot and we had to implement martial law and create some strict rules for the discord. We ended up manually handing out keys in DM messages and so far over 2,000 keys have been given away in our discord!

Please join it here: https://discord.gg/AmZhaQP if you haven't already. We post more frequent updates there and are working to get some parity between the discord and the store page/steam forums.

There have been 4 patches since day one fixing some critical bugs and we are on v1.0.4 and there is another larger patch (v1.0.5) coming in approximately 12 hours from this post. We are also having some issues where people are not getting the notification that there is an update in steam so I suggest everyone restart steam and the update should happen automatically. We are working on getting a system implemented that will notify you in game that you need to update so we can make sure you're able to see all of the servers, most of which are on the latest patch).

What we really wanted to test with this alpha was the core bare bones gameplay and more importantly our backend system. This is how we track player logins, play time, gameplay stats, and persistent user information that is needed for the progression and inventory system we have planned for the final game. We will have some stats to post for you guys at the end of the alpha!

Thank you to everyone who has reported bugs and given us suggestions. We read every single one and will fix as fast as we can. Your willingness to play the alpha in a rough state is very appreciated. We will continue to be open, transparent, and go about building this game the right way; with the community.

Discord Alpha v1.0.0 is launched!

The Discord Alpha is released. If you want an alpha key please visit our #faq channel to learn how to get a key once the countdown hits zero!

Now that that is out of the way we have some important information you need to understand. This is an alpha version of the game. It is not feature complete, it will break, you sometimes will need to hard exit the game and restart, there will be game breaking bugs, and general usability problems. This is a great definition of alpha software I came across:

"Alpha software is computer software that is still in the early testing phase. It is functional enough to be used, but is unpolished and often lacks many of the features that will be included in the final version of the program and generally is only something tested internally."

We are releasing this publicly because we don't have the team size to mass test these things. Collectively the number of hours we will get from you testers will vastly improve the game beyond anything we could do with only internal testing and for that we are very thankful you joined our discord and willing to help us test the game. We want you to break it, we need you to tell us how you did it, but most importantly we want your feedback on how to make the game better and something you want to play.

We will be posting an announcement shortly before the alpha starts detailing the game mechanics and how you can play the game so be sure not to miss it! You can view it on our discord here: https://discord.gg/AmZhaQP If you aren't able to snag a key on the very first day please check out some of our stream partners who will be giving away keys on their twitch channels:

Kergami: twitch.tv/kergami

Play the Discord Alpha: March 13th

The discord alpha you have been patiently waiting for is nearly here. It will begin on Tuesday March 13th at 9am EST. There is a link to the countdown timer in our discord #announcements channel here: https://discord.gg/AmZhaQP The alpha is planned to last 1-2 weeks. The earliest it could finish is March 20th at 9am EST, but depending on how it goes it could be extended until March 27th at 9am EST. We won't be releasing all 1,000+ keys all at once, but instead we will be releasing the keys in waves throughout the duration of the discord alpha. We want to make sure we have a smooth rollout and are able to fix/patch any major bugs we will surely run into, since this is an alpha. Our current release plan is as follows:

Tuesday: 250 keys
Wednesday: 250 keys
Thursday: 250 keys
Friday: 250 keys

If interest surges and the alpha is running smoothly, we will consider releasing additional keys and/or adjusting the amounts in each of the waves. There will be another announcement Tuesday morning before the discord alpha starts explaining a lot of things such as:

How to report bugs
How to give feedback
How to play the game
How to redeem a key
A short FAQ
etc.

That announcement with all of the information will be posted in our discord so please join it so you can participate in the alpha! https://discord.gg/AmZhaQP

We look forward to having all of you playing the alpha soon!

Play the Discord Alpha: March

This is something we are very excited about and we hope you are too! Early March will begin our Discord Alpha. Your first question is probably; How do I join? All you have to do is join our discord here: https://discord.gg/AmZhaQP and wait for March. We'll be distributing keys via our trusty discord bot. Your second question is probably something along the lines of; What is different about this alpha than the previous one we had in early January?

Everything.

Feedback was collected, bugs were reported, and screams were had. We took user feedback and bug reports very seriously and pushed out a total of 6 updates in the single week of testing!

Although we roughly estimated this stage of testing to be beginning now (Mid Feb), per our last update, just too much feedback had to be implemented and frankly, bugs to be fixed. We haven't squashed all of them, but that is why we are asking you to join in on our discord alpha.

We do not have a definitive date other than early March and we are not certain how long it will run. It could be anywhere between 1 - 3 weeks. We really look forward to you joining the discord alpha, playing with us and our discord community, and most importantly helping us shape the game to be something that you love to play.

See you in discord! https://discord.gg/AmZhaQP

Play the Closed Alpha: January 6th

We have great news! Saturday Jan 6th EST will begin our closed Alpha test. The closed Alpha will consist of a single map. This Alpha test is being done to test connectivity issues, usability improvements, map layout, gameplay balancing, and anything else you guys bring to light. Nothing in this build is final. ALL of it is up for discussion. If you hate the grass; tell us. If you hate the sprint speed; tell us. If you think the game is shit; tell us how it can be better.

This closed Alpha requires that interested fans submit an application in the #alpha-application channel of our discord server, found here: https://discord.gg/AmZhaQP . Please follow the instructions listed there as it is very important for us to know your system specs, internet connection speeds, and location. We will be selecting a limited number of applicants who will be given access via Steam. The applications close on Jan 6th 00:00 EST This is only for serious fans whom we expect many hours of playtime and a lot of feedback given in the #alpha-feedback channel during the closed alpha. The alpha will run from Jan 6th EST until Jan 14th EST. The following week will be a time for our team to implement feedback/bug fixes that came up during the closed alpha.

The open beta is planned (not a promise, just a very educated guess) to run from Jan 22nd EST to Early/Mid Feb. We will take the following few weeks to implement feedback from that beta test and are planning a March release. Anything after the alpha test is NOT set in stone, but in the name of transparency we want our community to know our internal timelines. We sincerly hope you apply and we look forward to digging an axe deep into the back of your skull during the alpha.
