Houston, We Have Spinach!

Alpha 0.2.0 Live!

Today's update focuses on the mission control screen, specifically on mission details which are important if you want to complete the mission and earn the bonus. Now, instead of presenting the details on an optional second dialog (which apparently no one bothered to read) the details are spelled out clearly when you select it. Also, importantly, if your rocket does not have the necessary parts to undertake the mission, the "accept" button will not be available.

The other significant change for players is that it is no longer mandatory to select a mission in order to test foods with one of the flyable testers. Instead, you can test any food in one of the testers by flying to the designated altitude range indicated by the colored band in the left hand panel. When the rocket enters that altitude band, hit "test" in the stages panel. The same instructions apply for missions to test specific foods.

Finally, in appreciation of our Kickstarter backers, the named comets, satellites, ufos, planets and food trucks now appear in the credits scene.

Thanks for playing!

Alpha 0.1.24 live -- Finally!

Alpha 0.1.24 took much longer than expected to come out. The principle work involved a complete rewrite of the file save system, with an eye to much better future backward compatibility. Unfortunately, we hit a lot of unexpected bumps along the way delaying it much longer than anticipated.

Steam cloud saves are now enabled, meaning your game saves will be available on any of your machines with Steam installed. Also, your preferences -- audio and the like -- are now honored between playing sessions.

With this out of the way, we look forward to getting back to adding more content!

0.1.23: Happy New Year with tons of new Rocket Parts!

Hope everyone had a great holiday! to celebrate the new year, we're rolling out a pile of new rocket parts. Notewothy: this update contains the first 2-pin parts -- you'll need the right connectors in order to add them to your rocket. Also: two new classes of fin parts give thrust bonuses based on the presence of certain nutrients. For example, the D-Dyno Fin gives a significant thrust bonus if the food/fuel has a significant amount of Vitamin D.

Happy New Year!

  • Missing tank and misaligned nose cone in intro animation -- fixed
  • Some part names in "Here are some parts" intro scene incorrectly named

Thanks again for pointing these out -- now back to cranking out rocket parts and planets!

Alpha 0.1.18: Saves & Spaghetti Planet

We've been working round the clock on game save files, with some unexpected speedbumps encountered late last week. We're confident now that the issues are ironed out. Please if you run into any issues with loading and saving files, give us a shout!

Work continues on expanding content and balancing gameplay. The Spaghetti Planet is now ready for exploration. Is it too hard to get there? Too easy? Let us know!

New Rocket Parts, Mission Generator in 0.1.17

Last night's update to 0.1.17 brings three new rocket parts to play with:

  • The Blaaat! Booster, more powerful than the Mama booster, but carbs-restricted.
  • The flying Carbo-analyzer, an instrument you can load with food and fly to research carbohydrate, sugar and fiber food properties.
  • The flying Elemental Spectrometer, an instrument you can load with food to research elements contained in food, such as Sodium, Potassium & Iron.

Under the hood, we've completely revamped and upgraded the mission generation system. The missions now have a greater variety both in type and the rewards for successful completion. Be sure to check the mission description for full details of what to do. Importantly, most missions now expire after some minutes, so always check the mission board before equipping your rocket with parts and food!
