December Dev Update
Welcome to our 2nd developer’s log! It’s been a while since our last update. We move ever so close to early access so we wanted to share what we’ve been working on with our community!
Humanitz was at EGX this year! It was a great experience to be part of such a huge gaming convention. Being able to watch people play our game and give instant feedback was awesome - we have fixed tons of bugs and rebuilt lots of systems since collecting all the feedback. Thank you to everyone who stopped by - we really appreciate you! If you’d like to give us feedback and be part of our community, don’t forget to join our Discord and follow us on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook!
A heavily requested feature has been added: looting the dead.
There is now a chance that when you kill zeeks, they will drop loot! This is a nice new feature and it always cool to see what these infected humans are carrying on them 😄
We also have two new zombie types: the hazmat and the toxic zeek. The hazmat carries a gas canister on his back that can be damaged and cause an explosion. This explosion can kill other zeeks that are close by. It can be triggered via heavy melee hits.
If you get too close to the toxic zeek, you will take damage from the toxic gas - killing them from range is advised. You’ll also see you can't loot them until they have fully decomposed. Trying to do so will also cause damage.
We hope you enjoy these new zombie types and we’ll be looking forward to adding more in the future!
Another brand new feature is locked buildings or safe houses. Certain locations on the map will have locked or barricaded structures protecting good loot. Using the right weapons will grant you access! Having the right gear for the job is key, as your stamina will drain quickly without it.
Something we are going to develop further in the coming week is spawning random AI inside the building or triggering alarms which attracts more infected. We hope you'll have fun breaking into these higher tier loot locations.
Another highly-requested feature is a map system. This is brand new and still in early development but you can access the map, place waypoints, zoom in and out and actually see the waypoint in the world. This is one of those features that will improve over time but for now HumanitZ has an in game map! 😊
There are now certain rock types that can be mined by the player to harvest certain resources; those resources can be used to craft a number of things like ammo. We have a furnace for crafting brass casing and a new ammo bench for creating ammo for your guns.
Now we have given the player more ways to help with their base building! Previously, you could get some wood from chopping a tree and then you'd need a table saw to cut the logs into wood. Now you can use an ax or a hand saw to craft wood from logs. This is a really nice feature giving you more ways to get resources.
Some new vehicles have been added to the game as well! The RV which is something we've wanted in HumanitZ for ages... lots of storage! There’s also a new hatchback.
We also added a new rifle in the game - The Scar-L. Here are some clips of it in action. You'll notice there are also improved hit reactions to zombies and blood splatters!
Thank you for checking out our developer’s log and thanks to everyone that is hyped and supporting us. It really means a lot. Don’t forget to wishlist us on Steam!
Until next time - peace!
September Dev Update
Dear Survivors
Today we update you with everything going on with all things HumanitZ.
Originally the game was due to be ready around September/October of 2022 but in June we made a huge move to rebuild a number of major systems... From scratch!!
- Recreation of vitals and damage system - Brand new shooting ballistics system - New animation system - New Grapple System - New combat system including root motion animation - Improved interaction and pickup system
Making all these changes has created a lot more work for our small team and naturally pushed the release date to later than expected. And of course with making these major changes it creates more issues and extra bugs so it’s been a busy few months for us all.
So.. the big part... HumanitZ will now release end of Q1 2023, the reason for the extended delay is due to the rebuilding of major systems and also we are having custom modular characters and brand new UI created for our game which we will share some sneak peeks of soon. So lots of big changes happening but all for the good of the game.
I know this isn’t the news some of you wanted but we'd rather you be angry at the game being delayed than be angry that the game was rushed and not ready.
Thanks to everyone single one of you that supports us and that is excited for HumanitZ. If you haven't already, you should join our Discord and follow us on Twitter.
Kind Regards Yoz
HumanitZ has a Publisher!
Hello survivors! We are proud to announce that HumanitZ is now being published by Freedom Games. For those of you who may not know, a game publisher can take care of a lot of the business and marketing side of releasing a game. That includes managing our store pages, marketing and advertising the game, helping showcase the game at both digital and live events, PR, and a lot more. Really it lets us totally focus on working to make the game the best it can be, and provides us with the resources to do so.
Thank you all so much for your support throughout development so far! We couldn’t have gotten to this point without all of you. We can’t wait to show you all of the awesome stuff we have coming (like maybe some beta tests 👀). If you want to make sure you hear about all that, you should follow us on Twitter and join our Discord!
