IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Blitz

Preparing the Spitfire cockpit for VR - WIP images

Hi all,

Here are images of the Spitfire cockpit as we move closer to VR implementation.

Our artists are busy working on 3D components of aircraft so VR uses will have the best visuals possible on launch.

Work shown in these images focuses on the throttle, trim wheel, fuses, cables, cable clips, bolts and chains.

All images WIP.

As we progress, we will share more images of this very exiting development of the Blitz and Tobruk games.

No date has been set, as we are still in early development.

Regards,

TFS Team

As usual, we'd like to thank all of our loyal fans who share their feedback in our Steam Forums. Thank you for your support!

Read the full changelog below:

General Changes / Updates:

  • Aircraft now have a minimum fuel limit that cannot be gone below.
  • Various corrections in Italian localization
  • Fresh translation: Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide - Russian.pdf

New missions:

  • Added new Tobruk single mission Dawn over the Desert with five playable flights.

Fixes:

  • Fixed: BLITZ only German campaign required part Tobruk
  • Fixes: Campaign Desert Hawks: in missions 8 and 9, when the player led two flights of Kittyhawks (8 aircraft), the player’s formation was reduced to 4 Kittyhawks, and a flight of four Tomahawks performing the same mission was added. This was done to strike a balance between accurately depicting No. 3 SQN’s equipment (only a single Kittyhawk joined the squadron on 4/12/1941) and giving the player a flight to support them in combat. In missions 3, 7, and 10, ground attackers have been set to fly at full speed during their attack runs. Mission 6 altitude has been changed to 22,000ft.
  • Fixes: Campaign Desert Hawks, Eagles over Tobruk, On Ne Passé Pas, and Rising from the Ashes: formations of aircraft that use the imperial system have had their speed and altitude revised to better reflect their instruments.
  • Fixes: Campaign Rats over Tobruk: bombs removed from aircraft that do not need them.
  • Fixes: Campaign Adler Angriff: fixed a mistake that resulted in players requiring Tobruk to play the first mission. Our apologies for this oversight.
  • Fixes: Campaign Gravity is my friend, Operta Aperta 1940-41, Rats over Tobruk. Tempesta sull'Africa, and The Blue Wellingtons, 1940-41: bombs removed from aircraft that do not need them.
  • Fixes: A Busy Morning, Aerial Crusade, Aftershocks, Attack of the Kiwi, Attack of the Eagles, August Attrition, Battle Goes On, Corpo Aereo Italiano, Corpo Aereo Italiano II, Dusk Raid, Kanalkampf, No Respite, Old and the New, and Royal Rodeo have had the speed and altitude of multiple formations modified in order to improve variety in the situations encountered in missions. Formations of aircraft that use the imperial system have had their speed and altitude revised to better reflect their instruments. Slides and briefings have been updated to match, as well as to provide more information to aircraft performing radar-guided interception.

Skin Changes / Updates:

  • Kittyhawk Mk.IA (all variants) skin TFS Kittyhawk b05 CVO.jpg updated with historically accurate serial number.

Hello pilots!

As always, we'd like to thank all of our loyal fans who share their feedback in our Steam Forums. Thank you for your support!

Read the full changelog below:

General Changes / Updates

  • Adjusted engine physics to better simulate use of higher than the normal rated rpms on power generation. Applies to all engine types.
Please note: Use of higher than maximum recommended rpms will continue to greatly increase the chance of overheat, higher rpm use only recommended as per the specific guidelines for aircraft types. As for example, for Bf-109E types, use of 2600 rpm for DB601A and DB601Aa over 6000 meters, and use of 2800 rpm for DB601N over 6000 meters is allowable for limited periods.

  • "Splittergranate" ammunition for Mk101 weapon on Bf-110C-6 corrected.
  • "Minengeschoss" ammunition added for Bf-110C-6 Trop model.
  • Available .50 caliber MG ammunition for Tomahawks, Kittyhawks and Martlets corrected.
  • French Localization correction; Bugtracker #1353 (https://www.tfbt.nuvturais.de/issues/1353)

Mission Changes / Updates

  • A new Tobruk single mission, "Aerial Crusade", has been added. It has five playable flights, including some of the most iconic aircraft of the North African campaign: the shark-mouthed Tomahawks of No. 112 SQN RAF, and Hans-Joachim Marseille’s Bf-109 F-4/trop ‘yellow 14’.
  • The single missions "A Busy Morning", "Attack of the Eagles", "Aftershocks", "Battle Goes On[", "Corpo Aereo Italiano", "Corpo Aereo Italiano II", "Dusk Raid", "The Kanalkampf", "No Respite", and "The Southampton Blitz" have had more historical serial numbers and identification letters added to RAF aircraft, with the appropriate slides updated.
  • Interception sorties in the single missions "Attack of the Eagles", "Corpo Aereo Italiano", "Corpo Aereo Italiano II", "Dusk Raid", "The Kanalkampf", and "No Respite" have been revised to better reflect the advantages provided by radar. If the interceptor’s targets are airborne and in range of radar at the start of the mission, the interception flights will now fly a direct intercept course rather than waiting for the bombers to reach them. Briefings have been updated accordingly in all languages.
  • The English briefings of the campaigns "Eagles over Tobruk", "Desert Hawks", "On Ne Passe Pas", and "Rising from the Ashes", as well as the single missions "A Busy Morning", "Attack of the Eagles", "Aftershocks", "August Attrition", "Battle Goes On", "Battle on the Somme", "Corpo Aereo Italiano", "Corpo Aereo Italiano II", "Dusk Raid", "The Kanalkampf", "No Respite", "Royal Rodeo", and "The Southampton Blitz" have been edited with better grammar.
  • Changed the briefings of the single mission "The Old and the New" to state that the mission takes place on 24/11/1941 in order to be more accurate to 96a Squadriglia's actual deployment to Libya, based on information in Osprey Publishing's book Italian Aces of World War 2. To be historically accurate with the new date, No. 274 SQN's aircraft have been changed to Hurricane Mk.IIb/trops, and static I./JG 27 aircraft have been replaced with Italian fighters. Slides have been updated to match changes.
  • Made English RAF ace ‘Ginger’ Lacey’s aircraft the default player aircraft in Attack of the Eagles. Slides updated to match.
  • Added Hans-Joachim Marseille as an enemy in mission 10 of the "Desert Hawks" campaign.
  • Made GC I/3 the default flight for the "Battle on the Somme" single mission.
  • Changed 7./KG 51 to 9./KG 51 in "Southampton Blitz", and swapped positions with 8./KG 51. Slides and briefings updated to match.
  • Changed Bf-109 E-4 and E-4/N flights in the single missions "Aftershocks", "The Battle Goes On", "Corpo Aereo Italiano", "Corpo Aereo Italiano II", "No Respite", and "The Southampton Blitz" to late models based on photographs depicting aircraft from the represented units with armored headrests.
  • The enemy flight in mission 1 of the "Desert Hawks" campaign has been changed to G.50/trops from ????? for the sake of variety and better representing the makeup of RA forces in North Africa at the time.
  • Added more flak guns to Southampton and Gosport. This change applies to the first two missions of the "Rising from the Ashes" Campaign and the single missions "Aftershocks", "The Battle Goes On", "No Respite", and "The Southampton Blitz". The single missions have also had scenery and/or flak guns added to RAF Odiham, RAF Farnborough, the surrounding towns, and two military bases.
  • Added scenery and/or flak guns to RAF Eastchurch and the surrounding towns and coast in the single missions "A Busy Morning", "Attack of the Eagles", "August Attrition", and "The Kanalkampf".
  • Briefings for Blenheim Mk.IV, BR.20M Ju-87, Ju-88, and He-111 flights in the missions A Busy Morning, Aftershocks, Attack of the Eagles, Battle on the Somme, Corpo Aereo Italiano, Corpo Aereo Italiano II, The Kanalkampf, and No Respite have been updated with more realistic speed instructions.
  • Replaced Bf-109 F-4/trops with F-2/trops in missions 4 and 8 of the Desert Hawks campaign. Added static Bf-109 F-2/trops to missions 1-10 and 6-10 of the Desert Hawks and Eagles over Tobruk campaigns.
  • Changed the Wellington Mk.IA flight in Dusk Raid to the Wellington Mk.IC. Slides and briefings updated to match.

Skin Changes

  • Three Helmut Wick skins for the Bf-109 E-4 have been updated to be more historically accurate and better looking. These skins have also been added to the Bf-109 E-4 late and incorporated into the single missions "Aftershocks", "The Battle Goes On", "No Respite", and "The Southampton Blitz", with relevant slides updated to match.
  • The Adolf Galland skin for the Bf-109 E-4/N has been updated to be more historically accurate and better looking. This skin has also been added to the Bf-109 E-4/N late and incorporated into the single missions "Corpo Aereo Italiano" and "Corpo Aereo Italiano II", with relevant slides updated to match.
  • Two new skins have been added to all tropical variants of the Bf-109 F-4, depicting Hans-Joachim Marseille’s aircraft with accurate victory tallies for the mornings of December 7th and 8th 1941.
  • A new skin for the G.50/trop showing the yellow nose used for identification in North Africa has been added, and incorporated in mission 1 of the "Eagles over Tobruk" campaign.
  • Two new skins for all non-tropical variants of the Bf-109 F showing the yellow markings used for identification on the western front have been added. These skins have been incorporated into the single mission "Royal Rodeo", with relevant slides updated to match.
  • The markings and skins of Bf-109 E-1 - E-4/B fighter and fighter units from the "Battle of Britain" have been added to the Bf-109 E-4 late, E-4/B late, E-4/N late, E-7, E-7/N, and E-7/Z for better consistency in "Battle of Britain" scenarios. All previously available skins for these aircraft are still in the game.

  • Altered 8./KG 51 and No. 610 SQN RAF identification letters in "Attack of the Eagles[". Slides updated to match.
