General Changes / Updates
Values (flying, shooting, tactics, awareness, etc.) of all AI default skill levels (Rookie, Average, Veteran, Ace) adjusted for new and existing missions.
Hurricane IIA/IIB/IIC/IID including late versions and Tropical models had overheat schedules revised.
Scenery added and fixed to the Scegga airfields in the Desert Hawks campaign.
The speed of playable Stuka flights where the player is not the flight leader have been amended to make it easier for the player to keep up. The briefings of all Stuka flights have been similarly amended with the proper speed.
All Stuka flights amended to return to base at low altitude after divebombing.
Applied minor update to the slide captions of several missions.
Removed stray cable-less barrage balloon from single missions set in the Southampton/Le Havre area.
Mission Changes / Updates
A new "Battle of France" mission, "The Battle on the Somme", has been added. It has five playable flights.
Briefings revised with more accurate information for missions 03, 08, and 10 of the "Desert Hawks" campaign.
Missions 03 and 10 of "The Desert Hawks" campaign and missions 07 and 10 of the "Eagles over Tobruk" campaign revised to have more accurate Hurricane fighter-bomber behavior.
Mission 1 of the "Adler Angriff" campaign has been updated. The player is now the flight leader, and will meet the Do-215 over Marquise West rather than the English Channel. These changes will make escorting the Do-215 much more feasible. Thank you, reddit user u/Titan828, for making us aware of this issue.
"The Desert Hawks", "Eagles over Tobruk", "On Ne Passe Pas!", and "Rising from the Ashes" campaigns, along with the single missions "A Busy Morning", "Aftershocks", "Attack of the Eagles", "August Attrition", "The Battle Goes On", "Corpo Aereo Italiano", "Corpo Aereo Italiano II", "The Kanalkampf", "No Respite", "The Old and the New", "Royal Rodeo", and "The Southampton Blitz" have all had their RAAF, RAF, and RCAF flights revised to feature as many aircraft with the serial numbers and tactical markings of actual aircraft that served with the depicted squadron in real life at some point as possible. These aircraft have been given positions in the flight that are appropriate for the rank of at least one pilot who flew the specific aircraft. Some of these aircraft use specific skins, including the newly added RAF ace and Hurricane skins (see below). Slides have been updated to match.
Playable squadrons in the missions "Attack of the Eagles" and "The Kanalkampf" have been altered for historical accuracy.
Added moving vehicles to player airfields in several missions of the "Desert Hawks" and "Eagles over Tobruk" campaigns.
Briefings for the mission Christmas Convoy amended with the proper name for 804 NAS.
New slides added for the mission Christmas Convoy.
Removed Axis flak from isolated desert regions (not near any roads or fortifications) in the "Desert Hawks" campaign and the Operation Crusader portion of the "Eagles over Tobruk" campaign.
Added Axis flak to coastal areas near roads, as well as Axis aircraft and scenery to Gazala No. 2 airfield, in the "Desert Hawks" and "Eagles over Tobruk" campaigns, as well as the single mission The Old and the New.
Changed the briefings of the single mission The Old and the New to say that the date is 14/10/1941, in order to better reflect the C.202's service history. According to Osprey Publishing's book Italian Aces of World War 2, the C.202's first victory was scored on 30/9/1941.
Skin Changes
The skins used in the "The Desert Hawks", "Eagles over Tobruk", "On Ne Passe Pas!" campaigns have been updated for historical accuracy and variety, and slides have been updated to match.
A new skin depicting the aircraft flown by English RAF ace Pete Brothers has been added for all variants of the Hurricane Mk.I (excluding the tropical and nightfighter versions).
A new skin depicting the aircraft flown by Scottish RAF ace Sandy Johnstone has been added for all variants of the Spitfire Mk.I.
Two new skins depicting the aircraft flown by Scottish RAF ace James Rankin have been added for all non-tropical variants of the Spitfire Mk.Vb.
A new skin for RAF 1941 European Hurricanes has been added to all non-tropical variants of the Hurricane Mk.II.
Four new skins depicting the aircraft flown by Luftwaffe ace Adolf Galland have been added to all non-tropical variants of the Bf-109 F-2.
Four skins depicting early 1940 Luftwaffe Bf-109s have been added to the Bf-109 E-1 and Bf-109 E-3.

Changed the tactical markings of John Dundas' Spitfire X4586 from PR-D to PR-O in the single mission The Battle Goes On, and updated slides to match.

ITALIANWING Tobruk 1940 Event Saturday Feb 6 2000GMT
š¦ ITALIAN AIR MISSION: Support your advanced tank columns bombing the Minefield in Sector H4,2. Attack Sollum Maritime Station in Sector H4,5. Attack British columns withdrawing from Sollum directed to Sidi Barrani, in Sector H4,5 and H4,2. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Situation: Today at dawn the assault on the enemy positions is finally expected. The attack will take place on three fronts: a) The NORTH tank group will have the task of conquering the city of Sollum and chasing any fleeing enemies. (Fort Capuzzo -> Sollum)
b) The CENTER tank group will attack Halfaya pass and then turn north to cut the enemy's retreat. (Qabr el Shinishi -> Halfaya Pass)
c) The SOUTH tank group will break through deep behind the enemy lines to wreak havoc on their line-up. (Nezeut Ghirba -> Halfway Hous)
The columns of supply trucks will follow the tanks columns at a safe distance, so at the moment we will have no "light" vehicles near the front. The task of our air force will be to strike at the retreating enemy columns and provide support to our tanks as they advance east. Any fortifications, artillery positions and minefields must be attacked by our Cr.42 and Br.20. Once the bombs are dropped the Cr.42 will join the G.50 to protect the tanks from possible enemy attacks.
Our G.50s are certainly our best aircraft, but we only have 24 of them. They must be used with care!
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ATTENTION: Before attacking any targets on the ground identify them, remembering that: - if they are "light" means they are probably enemy columns in retreat - The enemy does not seem to have "heavy" vehicles near the front line _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ - 77° Squadriglia, and 91° Squadriglia - Brutus 1, Brutus 2, Falke 1 & Falke 2 Aircraft Available: Cr.42 / Trop Home Airfield: Sidi Azeiz As a fighter-bomber you will have the opportunity to assist the Br.20 in their attack against enemy positions and columns. Every retreating truck is a valid target! Once the bombs are dropped, patrol the front to protect our troops.
- 150° Squadriglia - Diamant 1 Aircraft Available: G.50 (limited to 24) Home Airfield: Bir el Baheira N.1 Your task will be to assist our Cr.42 in maintaining the air supremacy. You are certainly our fastest fighters, but beware that you will have only n°24 FIAT G.50 and that only 8 G.50 can fly at the same time. - 191° Squadriglia - Diamant 2 Aircraft available: Br.20 / Trop (limited to 16) Home Airfield: Gambut N.2
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Your task will be to attack any retreating enemy columns, fortifications or minefields. Thanks to your load of bombs you will be able to wreak havoc among the enemy ranks. Avanti Savoia!!! ________________________________________________________________________________________________ š„ ROYAL AIR FORCE MISSION BRIEFING Date: 13th September 1940 Time: 06:40 AM Weather Conditions: Clear Wind Velocity: 1 m / s from SE š„ BRITISH AIR MISSION: Defend your withdrawing Columns in H4 and H3. Bomb the advanced Italian Columns and destroy the Italian Fighter Bomber Cr-42 before they attack the British assets and troops. Attack Amset 1 Italian Air Base in Sector G5,2
Situation: With Italy's entry in war on 10 June, the situation on the border with Libya became increasingly tense. In recent days the clashes along the border have become more and more numerous, it is evident that the enemy is preparing something. At the moment we do not have tanks along the front line - the few at our disposal are kept in reserve in the rear. This is why our troops will probably not be able to withstand a strong attack, so they will need all the support possible from our air force. In that case the orders are to withdraw to Halfaya and Alam Barghut airports.
Our Hurricane I-FB / Trop are certainly our best aircraft, but we only have 24 units available. They must be used with care!
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ATTENTION: 1) Before attacking any targets on the ground identify them, remembering that: - if they are "light" vehicles it means that they are our columns in retreat - we do not have "heavy" vehicles near the front line 2) At 8:15 AM, two squadrons of Blenheim IV/Trop will depart from Sidi Barrani to attack the enemy Gambut N.2 airport. Rendez Vous: a) Buq Buq, 8:27 AM, Angels 11. b) Sollum, 8:32 AM, Angels 11. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ - No. 33 Sqn. - Acorn Red section Aircraft Available: Hurricane I-FB/Trop (limited to 24) Home Airfield: Buq Buq Central As a fighter-bomber you will have the opportunity to assist the Blenheim in their attack on any enemy tank. Any tank moving east is a valid target! Once the bombs are dropped, patrol the front to support our fighters. Pay attention that you will have only N°24 Hurricanes that only 8 Hurricans can fly at the same time. - No. 80 Sqn. - Acorn yellow, Acorn green sections Aircraft available: Gladiator II/Trop Home Airfield: Buq Buq Maintaining the control of the sky will fall mainly on you. In case of retreat, cover our columns from enemy attacks. While the enemy is equipped with faster fighters than yours, none can compete with you in terms of maneuverability! - No. 112 Sqn. - Dysoe Red & Dysoe Yellow sections Aircraft available: Gladiator II/Trop Home Airfield: Buq Buq Maintaining the control of the sky will fall mainly on you. In case of retreat, cover our columns from enemy attacks. While the enemy is equipped with faster fighters than yours, none can compete with you in terms of maneuverability! - No. 55 Sqn. - Dysoe Green section Aircraft available: Blenheim IV/Trop (Limited to 16) Home Airfield: Sidi Barrani West ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ You are the only ones able to delay the advance of the enemy columns. Remember that every minute gained will allow our troops to reorganize a second defensive front. Any tank moving east is a valid target! Tally-ho!

Firstly, thankyou for those in the community who bought DWT since it's release in August. It is great to see so many people enjoying the game, as much as we enjoyed making it. š
2020 for many was an incredibly challenging year. Fortunately there were also many highlights.
The release of Desert Wings Tobruk, added the Desert Air War to the fast growing flight sim world. 2020 was arguably one of the best years for flight sims ever. We saw a number of outstanding new releases and upgrades in other sims as well as Cliffs/Tobruk.
We are proud to be a part of the best gaming community in the world, and thank you all for your valued place within it. š
We all hope 2021 will see yourselves and families stay safe and healthy.
