In Next Life

Price increase on July 1st!

The target price for In Next Life on PC/Mac is $20 for the official release version. During the Early Access period, we have three price steps:
1. $11 for the really early adopters
2. $15 for the mid-early adopters
3. $20 for those who join shortly before the official release

The change from $11 to $15 will happen on July 1st, so in three days from now. If you have considered to buy the game, but haven't gotten around to it yet, then you may want to consider doing it now.

Some info on what's up next, in the early July update:

The current gameplay will change and there will be two game modes, "Beginner" and "Normal".
Beginner will be fairly similar to today's gameplay, but there will be some modifications.
Normal will add some mechanics that make it quite different. A tribe will no longer have unlimited lives to reach the end of the development stages. If you make too many mistakes or die too easily, your tribe will fail. The survival and challenge aspects of the game will play a larger part in the gameplay. It's gonna be a lot of fun, we hope!

Cheers,

// The INL Team

Update: Bronze Age, Stage 3

We have neglected to post notes on our updates on Steam for a while, but we will get back into that habit starting with this update. If you have followed our Discord, you know that there has been a lot of both content, features, and improvements over the last couple of months.

This is only a list of the changes in the latest update, but we will try to post a bit of a recap of everything soon too, because we are about to enter a new phase of the early access soon. If you haven't played the game in a while, there is a lot for you to discover.

New in the latest update:

- Bronze Age III Content

- More kinds of trees can be cut and used for building materials

- Several bushes and flowers can be removed, to allow for building space

- The experience view now also shows all items you have not created yet

- Build log cabins and make wooden floors and doors

- Build fences using bamboo

- Walls can be hidden from view, so you clearly see what's behind them

- Added Chinese as a supported language

Game Update: farming, pottery, and better instructions

Hi players,

Time for a content and ease-of-use update!

Farming

Take survival to the next level by starting to grow your own foods and materials.
Stone age level farming means digging a hole, inserting seeds or pieces of tubers, cover with soil and adding water. Then you wait...

Pottery

You can now find clay in the jungle. Use it to shape pottery, which you fire in the new fire pit to make it solid.

We added a new recipe for soup: gather all ingredients on a work mat, grab a knife and water and mix it all together in the new clay bowl. Then heat it by the fire and share it with your tribe.

Improved Crafting Info

The ICB (Item and Crafting Browser) has been overhauled to present the crafting steps in a clearer way, with the most important details showing first.

The steps are inverted, so you always see the final steps without scrolling, and steps for making some of the sub-ingredients have been hidden, to improve quick understanding (just click on any item to see the steps for creating it though).

Improved Item Selection

You can now choose exactly which item you want to pick out from a container.

Smaller changes:
- Nerfed deadly animals, so they are easier to escape from
- Dead Howlers and Death-Claws now disappear after 1h
- You can now remove wall frames
- Nerfed banana trees (now 15 minutes to respawn)
- Cutting a fern into leaves is now a harvest action
- Removing/putting on clothes are now on different buttons and don't conflict with eating
- Fish spawn back more frequently
- Un-censored several words that users wanted to be able to say
- Fixed several visual bugs
- Fixed that Grass Rope was sometimes called by the wrong name in the ICB
- Plus other bug fixes and improvements...

Game Update: Animal Attacks!

Hi players!

If you have read through the information under "Early Access" you know that the development is currently focusing on bringing more challenges to the game play. The first instalment is this update with wild animals that can chase you, harm you, and potentially kill you.
Bandages for your wounds will follow in a later update, so survival will get tricky in our world for a while. Don't worry though - as long as your tribe builds enough Cairns to show the way, you can always respawn and find your way back to what you were doing before those pesky animals killed you ːsteamhappyː

The Howlers are hunting in packs of 3-4 animals. They chase both Hoppers, Zezelles, and humans. They will prefer slower individuals, like children or elderly players, so the tribe must try and keep these vulnerable people safe!
Killing one of the pack will make the others abandon the fight. If you don't have a spear, then RUN! If you run far enough, they will lose interest. Running though jungle is also a good way to confuse them.

The Death-Claw is usually alone. If you go too close to it, it will start stalking you and will eventually charge. The best you can do when it charges is to run. It will chase you for a while, but will eventually get exhausted. At that point you can escape, but if your goal is to kill the Death-Claw, then your only chance is to succeed with a spear thrust while it is exhausted. If you fail, it will immediately attack you again.
We do not recommend anyone taking on a Death-Claw on their own. If you collaborate, then one player can act as a lure, while the other player conserves their stamina and then attack when the Death-Claw is exhausted. Death-Claws will hunt and eat Zezelles, so they can be used to distract it.

The Chickarex is not your pet! If you go too close to its nest while it is close, it will attack.
On the other hand, chickarexes will also attack Howlers and Death-Claws, and can be used to distract them.

You can get wounded multiple times. Each wound will deal some direct damage and some damage over time. A light wound shows as scratches on your arm, while a medium one shows as claw marks on your thigh. If you get a large wound on your chest and abdomen, then it will be a mortal one. Use the time you have left to say farewell to your fellow tribe members ːsteamsadː
You can't generate health while you are still wounded, but as soon as the wounds are healed, you will begin to generate health again (as long as you have eaten enough food)

Finally, fire is a good way to keep dangerous animals away. Consider having several fires going at your camp at all times.
