1.17 Update! And quick road-map for Summer updates
New update is out! Major points of this new update are UI additions and back-end improvements.
There are now additional UI buttons on all of the screens to help navigate between different game states.
Other parts of the HUD have also been upgraded to look nicer and to be easier to read in general.
The back-end for Quests and station interaction has changed significantly, this is in preparation for some cool stuff coming later this month.
This summer we will cranking out a major updates more frequently than we usually do. Also with future updates, it will be more clear as to what will be in them and when they are coming before it happens.
Here is what we have on the docket for the next couple Updates: 1.17: Side Quests, Faction Switching
1.18: New Faction, Mod-able Factions/quests.
1.19: Research System, New part Type: Labs
As always if you guys have something you want to see in these updates let us know, and it will most likely sneak its way in (Check out the update forums, most of the ideas posted there have made it in, in some form)
Thanks as always for the continued support from you guys!
1.16 Update and some real talk.
1.16 Update Hey guys the 1.16 update has just gone out! It's our largest update file-size wise since the launch!
A lot of the background music has been reworked to be less repetitive and overall just better. As well more sound effects have been added to make things sound more exciting and diverse.
More textures have been reworked to make the overall game prettier.
The beef of the update however is with stability and bug fix improvements. Too many here to list but overall the experience should be better overall.
However if we missed anything there is now a log folder in your game that will fill out a crash log whenever a crash happens. Let us know about this in the forms and it will be fixed within 48 hours!
Real Talk Anyways time for the real talk. As you guys may have seen our review score has plummeted recently. It is honestly discouraging when that happens, but I wanted to assure you guys that we read ALL of the feedback that is given (we read it a lot of times too) and try incorporate it into making Inevitability better.
Make sure to tell us what you dislike/like about Inevitability so we can make it overall a better experience for you guys :) Much of what has been suggested for features has found its way into the game in some manner.
Also a shout out to the people who give us productive feedback and support! You guys are what keep us going!
We have some cool stuff planned for this summer for long requested big features, excited to see you guys dive into it!
1.15 Update! New parts, lots of other stuff.
Lots of stuff has been added and improved in the 1.15 update.
Here are some of the highlights:
Build menu and part changes/additions
New part type: Ramming Weapons Ramming weapons will do extra damage on impact and give you another way to tackle combat.
New part type: Batteries Batteries are introduced to make power management more interesting for planning of ships. They are able to store extra power.
Ship cores now have a part limit. Better cores allow you to attach more parts to them. Be careful on old saves as older ships with weaker cores will not be able to be relaunched with all of their parts.
Parts in the game now have information about them! Such as something unique that that part does, or where it was originated in the lore. A description of the part type is also here. You get info on parts by pressing I while you have it selected in the build menu.
Parts also will now auto-craft if you try to build with them and you are out of crafted ones.
Ship / Planetary system updates
All ships are now equipped with a display that will show the faction and captain of the nearest ship. It also says how much they like you of course!
The Planetary systems are now twice as large as they were before!
Misc You can now have unlimited named saves instead of just the save games 1,2,3. You old saves will automatically be migrated to the new save system.
A bunch of other bugfixes and optimizations have been made, the game should now preform significantly better with large amounts of lasers on the map at once.
If you want to play an older version for whatever reason you can access it through the properties in your Games Library.
1.14 Update. New mining mechanics!
The 1.14 update is finally out.
Significant performance improvements on planets as well as a revamp of how mining works. Also there are smaller improvements in performance on most other areas of the game. Major changes are summarized below.
Mining
Added health and heat to probes.
Probes will heat up with contiuned use and need to vent to cool down (seen below with an updated HUD)
Probes now lose fewer minerals on contact with Worms, but now take damage. They will lose a significant amount of minerals if their health drops to 0. You can heal your probe at the base on each planet
Building/Flying
Fuel tanks have been removed and engines now only use power
Improvements to the build menu display UI.
Improved performance of lasers and ship collisions.
Lastly a moment of silence for all of the bugs that have been squashed in the making of this update...
1.13.3 UI Improvements!
Small update just went out.
Some bug fixes and UI changes.
In general the game should help alert you of what to do at some points if you haven't done that action yet. Ex: if you need to warp out and never have, it will teach you how to do that.
There is now a larger warning symbol for when you are low on power
Also self destructing is no longer a unhappy accident. You now need to hold down the self destruct button through a 5 second countdown display to self destruct.
As always let us know what you would like to see in future updates :) We of course have big plans and want to make sure they align with what you guys want as well!
Happy flying.
Anniversary Update. 1.13
It has been a year since we have launched on Steam! Don't worry we aren't going anywhere Inevitability will keep getting updates into the foreseeable future, more on that at the bottom!
This update is mostly a massive back-end overhaul. So most changes are improved performance speeds, far less bugs and faster development times on our end. However with that being said we managed to get some cool new stuff in :)
Firstly, we have improved the targeting mechanic. If you have no targeted ships your ship will now auto target the nearest ship. The targeting UI has also been changed to be animated.
Your mining probe now has built in scanners that can be upgraded to see enemy's or minerals!
Side Notes
Development in general has shifted to be more incremental so if you haven't played since the release of 1.12.0 there is a ton of other new stuff as well that came out in later 1.12 versions!
We have a lot of exciting UI changes and mechanic balances that should make the game easier to understand and more enjoyable for the coming weeks!
Saves from before the 1.11 update that where played and saved on the 1.12 update may be messed up, due to a bug in 1.12. If you have any save that won't load send it to us (thesfsstudios@gmail.com) and we can fix it ASAP!
As always we love suggestions from our community, and nearly all of what has been in recent updates is from you guys! Keep it coming and thank you so much for sticking with us!!
Bug bounties and updates!
Hey guys we have some fun plans for updates over the summer, but until then we will be fixing tons and tons of bugs.
So to motivate you guys to report bugs that you encounter, to the bug forums, we are starting the Bug Bounty program! There is a pinned post here describing how it works.
As well bug fixes will be rolling out pretty frequently. Also these bug fixes won't be the only thing bug related happening in Inevitability this summer ;). Stay tuned!
1.12.0 Modded parts, Improved AI, New part types
Hey guys, The 1.12 update just went out and has some cool stuff in it.
You can now add your own modded parts to the game by following this short guide
The enemy is smarter now so keep on your toes! Since the AI is smarter we thought it would be fun to also keep track of your deaths in game. You can see that along with some other new stats on the Stats page in the main menu.
Lastly two new part types have been added. Scanners and Part Coverings.
Attaching a scanner to your ship will let you scan a planet and see how many minerals you have left to mine there. Part coverings can be added on top of existing parts to add a little extra armor and make your ship look a little better.
Expect updates more frequently in the coming months, Lots of new features that have been promised are still on the way :) As always let us know what you think, and if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see in Inevitability.
