Versions 1.2.1 - 1.2.5 Patch Notes
Since the Version 1.2 content update, I've been hard at work adding new quality-of-life features as well as fixing some bugs and other issues. Below are the patch notes for these updates.
You can also see patch notes for all previous updates on the Patch Notes forum: https://steamcommunity.com/app/949600/discussions/4/
Version 1.2.1
Fixed a bug related to Discovery Fish Contracts
Version 1.2.2
The Tourney tag on fish in the livewell during a Tournament or Daily Tournament will now only show up on the fish that will be counted towards your final total
Fixed a potential exploit related to Daily Tournaments
Daily Tournaments must now be completed in a single session without reloading your save
Added a small box to the Daily Tournament screen to display "Daily Tournament Rules and Information" which will provide some details about Daily Tournaments that may not be obvious
Version 1.2.3
After completing the main quest, the Fish Contract Terminal module and the Tournament Terminal module are no longer required to participate in Fish Contracts and Tournaments
Adjusted main quest dialogue to reflect this change
Added a message to the item info popup of the Fish Contract Terminal module and the Tournament Terminal module that shows up after completing the main quest to indicate that they are no longer required
Added a message to the item info popup of items used in the main quest that are no longer required after the main quest indicating that they can safely be sold
Version 1.2.4
Fixed a bug where the number of known species information in Exploration Data sets could be lower than the actual number of known species information (as visible in the Fish Journal) when using items that give increased information gained from catching/dissecting fish
Fixed a bug where two types of Bonus Tasks in the Intergalactic Fishing Society panel would not show up properly if you had the metric units option turned on
Version 1.2.5
Added the ability to sort your livewell by ascending/descending weight or credits
Right click on the Compress Fish in Livewell button at the bottom of the livewell to select different sorting modes and left click to sort the livewell according to the selected mode
Adding a fish to your livewell by clicking on the Current Fish on Line slot above the livewell will also cause the livewell to be automatically sorted according to the currently selected mode (if a sorting mode is selected instead of the default Compress Fish in Livewell option)
Fish no longer automatically get off if they are dragged across the land (There is still a high chance for them to get off when they are on land, but if you drag a fish across a small bit of land, it has a decent chance of staying on the line)
Adjusted the Intergalactic Fishing Society challenge to make a maximum distance cast at a lake with 0.5 or less gravity using a 10 Cast Distance rod to require 0.7 or less gravity
Added information about the Daily Tournament to the Help panel
Updated some behind-the-scenes stuff related to Daily Tournaments
NOTE: If you try to participate in the Daily Tournament on an older version of the game, you may get a “Cannot get Tournament Info” error message and will need to update to v1.2.5 to participate
Intergalactic Fishing v1.2 is OUT NOW
Hello Anglers! I hope the lakes of the universe are treating you well and that Gambling Gary hasn't taken all of your money. I'm happy to announce that Intergalactic Fishing version 1.2 is out now!
Intergalactic Fishing Society
This update adds a new endgame progression system that becomes available after finishing the main quest called the Intergalactic Fishing Society. The IFS keeps track of your fishing accomplishments and you gain fame for doing certain things which allows you to level up and receive rewards. The system is broken into three different sections: Career Goals, Challenges, and Bonus Tasks.
The Career Goals section keeps track of career milestones and awards fame when you reach one of these milestones. Career Goals provide you with long-term goals that you can shoot for in various areas of gameplay.
The Challenges section provides a list of challenging feats that will test your mastery of different game mechanics and your fishing skills. Each challenge can be done once and gives fame when completed.
The Bonus Task section provides a way to gain fame on a regular and repeatable basis. You will be assigned a task and upon completing that task, you will gain some fame and be assigned a new task. Bonus Tasks provide you with varied, short-term goals so if you aren't sure what to do, you can always work on your Bonus Task.
The goal of this system is to provide the player with something to work towards after completing the main quest. Ultimately, Intergalactic Fishing is a sandbox game and you are free to spend your time doing whatever you enjoy. Feel free to focus on your IFS objectives as much or as little as you'd like as you continue to play. You will still make progress in the Career Goals section just by playing and you will always have a Bonus Task to shoot for if you want some guidance on what to do. And, of course, if you are up for a challenge, you can pick something out from the Challenges section and go for it!
Fish Contract Revamp
Version 1.2 also revamps the Fish Contract system by adding new contract types that will take you to Unknown Lakes. With these new contract types, there is a wider range of difficulty and the contract payment is now based on that difficulty. The Fish Contract UIs have also been improved to look better and to provide more relevant information.
New Gear
Version 1.2 also adds a several new pieces of gear and reworks some existing gear. New additions include 6 new BOATs, 4 new Rods, and 5 new Modules, so get out there and discover some new items!
I also wanted to mention that I have been reading all suggestions, both on the Steam forums and on Discord, and I have several quality of life updates and other improvements that I will be working on now that 1.2 is out.
Have fun and I hope you enjoy the new content! - Ben
Daily Tournaments and Unknown Lake Leaderboard
TFG has started hosting Daily Tournaments for all member anglers. You can join the tournament each day from the TFG HQ Dock at The Conflux. The tournament takes place at a different Unknown Lake every day. Your score will be submitted to a Steam Leaderboard and you can check the standings at the TFG HQ Dock.
Additionally, TFG has started maintaining a leaderboard of the largest fish caught in Unknown Lakes. This is a Steam Leaderboard and you can access the standings from the TFG HQ Dock at The Conflux.
The update is out now so feel free to jump in and see how you stack up against your friends or the top anglers in the universe. You can see the patch notes for this update and all previous updates in the Patch Notes forum: https://steamcommunity.com/app/949600/discussions/4/
ULT Network Fish Collection and Other Updates
The latest update to Intergalactic Fishing adds the ULT Network Fish Collection. This information shows up on your Career panel and keeps track of each species in all ULT Networks Lakes. It will let you know if you've caught each species and whether you've gained all information about each species.
If you catch all species in a lake then the lake will show up silver on the panel and if you gain all information about all species in a lake then the lake will show up gold on the panel. Mousing over each lake will show your status for each species in that lake and clicking on a lake will select it in your teleporter so you can quickly teleport there.
I'm hard at work on more improvements! You can see all the updates so far with various bugfixes, quality-of-life improvements, and new features in the Patch Notes forum: https://steamcommunity.com/app/949600/discussions/4/
Intergalactic Fishing is OUT NOW!
Intergalactic Fishing is OUT NOW! Thank you so much to everybody who has been following the game’s progress. It’s always a big motivation boost to know that people are interested in your game and looking forward to it. I hope you all enjoy it!
Release Date Announced
Hello everybody, I’m really excited to announce that Intergalactic Fishing will be released on April 21!
It’s been a long road but I’m really proud of what I’ve made and I can’t wait to share it with everybody. The original idea for Intergalactic fishing was inspired by the thinking of “make the game you want to play”. I wanted to make a game that included the aspects that I enjoy most in games: exploration, progression, and open-endedness. And I wanted to use procedural generation to create a huge world to explore, but also use a lot of custom designed content in that world to provide interesting and unique things to encounter as you explore and progress. I still have fun playing Intergalactic Fishing, even after thousands of hours of making and testing it, and if anybody enjoys it as much as I do, I’ll consider it a success.
Developer Rundown Video
I made a Developer Rundown video about Intergalactic Fishing to explain the basics of the game and what it is all about. Hopefully it will provide a quick introduction to the game so that you can tell if Intergalactic Fishing is a game you would be interested in.

If you are interested in a more in-depth run-through of the game and its systems, be sure to check out the Developer Gameplay video series I did previously.
