SPRING 2024: Hand-to-Hand Combat Update
Greetings, Agents.
The clocks have changed, April Fool's has arrived, and Intruder's Spring 2024 update is here -- and this one packs a punch. But, as the seasons change, it's not just goofs coming to your matches -- we've been working hard on a few things you've been asking about, and planting the seeds for Intruder's future.
Before we dive in, we'd like to send our sincere congratulations to OWL for claiming 1st prize in the Intruder Competitive League Season 8. The competitive matches were exhilarating to watch,
Let's dive into the update...
Advanced CQC Gadget: Gloves
Headquarters has authorized the temporary use of Advanced Close Quarters Combat tactics. Engage in Advanced CQC with the all new Gloves gadget, available for a limited time.
We could brief you on this in detail, but it's safe to say this tactical gadget speaks for itself.
If you want to test the fit of your all-new Gloves, enter the Bill's Octagon map and kick off your very own cage fight. All players will be outfitted with Gloves on their hands for the duration of the Advanced CQC testing period (happy April Fool's, Agents).
Gloves will replace your hands by default for April Fool's -- but you can access them any time with the following match tuning setting:

Laser Sensor Update
Another tactical gadget improvement courtesy of headquarters: The Laser Sensor device has been upgraded. After your Laser Sensor sticks to a wall, a visible laser beam will briefly appear, indicating its detection path, and then fade out to conceal your gadget as usual.
On top of that, sensors stacked on top of each other should no longer misbehave (i.e. not triggering because they're blocking themselves).
Experimental Linux Compatibility & Other Housekeeping
Intruder is available to play on Linux through Proton. This is experimental compatibility testing -- so we're looking forward to the results and your feedback (which you can share on the official Superboss Games Discord server).
In addition to this, Intruder now has Rich Presence on Discord! This means your Intruder matches will show on your profile's Now Playing section -- allowing friends, teammates, and your boss to see when you're exfil'ing on Riverside.
Additionally, a pop-up message will now inform Demoted players of their status and the reasons for their Demotion.
Improvements & Fixes
The Superboss Games team has also been hard at work on various quality of life updates, many of which surfaced from community feedback (we appreciate you). While laying the groundwork in code for Intruder's future, we've also pushed fixes to map voting, round timer, and more. Here's the full list:

WINTER 2023: The Snowceanside Holiday Update
Seasons Greetings, Agents, and welcome to the Winter 2023 update!
Intruder's holiday festivities are officially in full swing. The Winter 2023 event runs until January 4, 2024 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern time. Until then, Intruder is 50% off on Steam! But that's not all that's in store...
Alongside the return of some of your holiday favorites, we have a few other seasonal surprises in store for you this year. We hope you love them. Don't forget to recycle the wrapping paper.
Snowceanside
Oceanside is transformed into a winter wonderland, featuring gentle snowfall, festive lights, and other holiday decor (including a positively roasting fire)! New crystal formations across the property also provide new avenues for cover...if you can keep from being spotted by their lovely luminescence. All of this should make Snowceanside's Hack objective very interesting, indeed.

How can it snow along the beautiful beaches of Oceanside, you ask? Take it up with the weather guy, he's the one who said it'd be partially cloudy.
50% Off Sale + 200% XP Bonus
Great news: Intruder is 50% off during the Winter 2023 update, which ends January 4, 2024 at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern time. Until then, you can earn Double XP, which should make it much easier to unlock the brand-new weapon skin and returning hats! (Spoilers, more on those below.)
Snowball Launcher & Festive Favorites
Alongside the joyous festivities of Snowceanside, some of your previous favorite festivities are back, too! The Snowball Launcher returns, alongside the Riverside Holiday map. We had such a great time with these last time that now we're making them a tradition. Tis the season, after all (for joy, sharing, and shooting each other with high-velocity snowballs).
If you missed it last year, here's how the weapon works: The Snowball Launcher fires a sinister snowball that deals 30 damage on direct hit and knocks over enemies. It also creates a snow flurry that deals up to 20 additional damage to nearby players and blasts them away from the point of impact! This blast can even be used on yourself to reach places that are otherwise inaccessible.
You can find and use The Snowball Launcher on Snowceanside and Riverside Holiday!
And of course, it wouldn't be an Intruder holiday season without the warmth of candle light, the shimmering shine of tree decorations, and a rapidly melting snowman all mounted directly onto your head.
On top of all this, keep an eye out for additional festive community maps like Phil's Saloon!
The Reindeer Falcon
That's not all you've got waiting for you under the Intruder tree. For the Winter 2023 update we're releasing a brand-new unlockable item: Reindeer Falcon.
The Reindeer Falcon skin is a rare weapon that can only be unlocked until January 4, 2024, so get it while you can!
The Reindeer Falcon skin was created by RandomPerson, whose art for this cosmetic is just fantastic. Be sure to send them your thanks, appreciation, and rep-up emotes on the Superboss Games Discord.
Bug Fixes
- Unity Light Flares can now be used in IntruderMM (disabled in previous update due to crashes)
- You can no longer use a keypad while dead
- Shield collider is properly sized and no longer overlaps outside the shield
- Falcon energy redux - crawling while aiming causes sway proportionate to your energy
- Map makers can now spawn armor inside the player's inventory

Spooky Cliffside 2.0
It's a dark and stormy night...and a haunting looms within the all-new Cliffside. Cliffside Night has been temporarily transformed for this year’s frightful festivities. Sneak (and scream) through the holiday horrors around every perilous corner within Facility 01, including thickened fog (and thicker blood) lining the map's moody, candlelit halls.
If you have the guts to play Spooky Cliffside, or need temporarily relief from the horrors within, use the admin command Use "/daytimeindex #" to adjust the Cliffside map variant.
Here's a small taste of what awaits:
Intruder is 50% Off for Halloween

With Spooky Cliffside’s sinister return, it’s more important now than ever to come together – the legend of the Lone Intruder is a story of our age, timeless to be sure, but there’s no more appropriate tale for today than this hallowed favorite:
The Tale of the Lone Intruder
A long time ago, on a dark Hallows' Eve,
one intruder set off, with a case to retrieve.
But something was spooky, not a guard to be seen,
in the densest of fog, what could it all mean?
But a figure approached, not living or dead,
a guard stumbled forward, with bolts through his head.
As the intruder ran, he began to perspire,
but a demon with horns rose up from the fire.
And out of the shadows, yet another surprise,
Guards began to appear, with glowing green eyes.
Alone and outnumbered, hoping to survive,
he jumped from the window, and escaped alive.
He still had the package, and barely returned,
battered and beaten with his gadgets all burned.
Nobody believed him, but he had almost died,
so he still warns recruits, of the Spooky Cliffside.

AUTUMN 2023: New Maps, New Modes
Greeting, Agents, and welcome to Intruder’s Autumn 2023 Update. As the seasons change, the weather turns, and the days get shorter, it felt right to bring the shifting mood to Intruder.
Let’s talk about some striking updates to Oceanside and Cliffside, the return of a beloved game mode, notable fixes, and more – all available today.
New Oceanside Maps & Updates
Oceanside has received a substantial update and fixes, including several brand-new map variants. There are now four Oceanside maps for your extracting enjoyment:
Oceanside Day: The sun is scorching-hot on a perfect beach day, giving Oceanside a brighter vibe and much higher visibility that leaves intruders and guards alike exposed to the light.
Oceanside Sunset: The classic Oceanside mood you know and love, with some minor updates to lighting and layout to keep things feeling fresh.
Oceanside Night: The seaside manor is shrouded in shadow, making the exterior more dangerous than ever as intruders creep through the moonlight.
Oceanside Storm: A storm rages on the shrouded coast, bringing the first-ever weather event to an official Intruder map. Use the thunder to mask your shots, create confusion in the rain, and extract into the darkness.
Across all Oceanside variants, you’ll notice a litany of fixes and additions. New props and lighting open up new tactical avenues across the map. Additionally, the guards have moved the keypad note to the upstairs living room, where it’s slightly less exposed to balloons and binoculars (but not entirely). We can’t wait to see how your new strategies shift the meta and clash with or complement old-reliable tactics. With performance enhancements and fixes to exploits and other issues, Oceanside plays better than ever in all its forms.
Separately, you can now change the time of day on official maps using a brand-new cheat command. Use "/daytimeindex 0" to instantly adjust the map variant -- just substitute the 0 for 1, 2, etc. to make the appropriate change to a different time of day.
Now, let's talk Cliffside.
New Cliffside Maps & Raid Mode
Expanding on our recent release of the Cliffside remake, we have a series of new map variants – as well as the return of a much-anticipated game mode. In addition to the current daytime Cliffside map, you can play all of these new Cliffsides starting today:
Cliffside Raid: An alternative game type to the default Hack mode, Cliffside Raid finally returns. You’ll find the briefcases in new locations, but the objective remains the same: Get in, get the package, and get out. With the map remake’s updated layout, there are even more tactical opportunities for cautious (or maniacal) extractions.
Cliffside Sunset: A moody addition to the rotation of Cliffside maps, this cloudy sunset basks Facility 01 in a soft and warm glow. The perfect scenic vista when a rig sends you soaring downward to certain doom.
Cliffside Night: Watch your step on the rocky outcropping underneath the facility – the cover of night makes exterior actions on Cliffside all the more risky (and rewarding) for both teams.
Once again, use "/daytimeindex 0" to instantly adjust the time of day on Cliffside -- just substitute the 0 for 1, 2, etc. to swap time of day.
Looking Ahead: Mountainside 2.0
Separate from today’s update, we’re excited to announce that development has begun on a ground-up remake of Mountainside!
Much like the Oceanside and Cliffside updates, this is a substantial but faithful reimagination of the largest official Intruder map. During a developer stream on the official Superboss Games Discord, we showed a very early work-in-progress first look at the progress so far. The old Cliffside used to have a hidden Hammerhead shotgun. Unrelated, the new Cliffside does, too, apparently. Some agents claim to have seen someone find it, pick it up, and use it. That dastardly banana has been fixed so you can disarm them again. Also some Cliffside 2.0 updates and fixes based on the playing so far.
Cliffside 2.0 Updates
- Removed the ability to "use" the Comm Room screens.
- Louder burn damage sound effect
- Potentially fixed the Maintenance Room door not locking.
- Removed backfaces on wall painting for better spectate.
- Blocked the top of the Comm Room screens.
- Blocked server rack.
- Blocked the inside of the Armory Locker.
- Fixed some lighting errors.
- Fixed being able to jump onto the bar of the windowless push bar doors.
- Added nudge zone near ledge to move people stuck between rocks.
- Reduced map file size.
