We're back this week with another batch of 3 achievements you can earn in Iron Meat! This time, we're highlighting the Quickdraw, Lend Me Your Strength!, and the Destruction of Property achievements!
1. Quickdraw
For this achievement, you'll wanna play on City, and you have to kill every Turretface Sniper--uh, these guys:
--before any of them fire a single shot at you! Not only that, but you'll have to kill every Turretface Sniper that shows up before and during the first infected Meat car midboss fight! That's this guy:
Remember, NONE of the Turretface Snipers should be allowed to fire even ONE shot at you, or you won't be able to earn the achievement!
2. Lend Me Your Strength!
For this one, you'll have to play on Forest. To get this achievement, you have to collect every single weapon upgrade dropped by both the floating ECIF drones and from friendly human soldiers atop any of the outposts you see!
And for those of you who don't yet know, there's actually a human soldier who will throw you a weapon upgrade at the very start of the level--right after you run out with all the other soldiers! This other soldier will appear on top of the outpost you just ran out of, so don't leave too early when you begin the Forest level!
3. Destruction of Property
For the last achievement this week, we're focusing in on Destruction of Property. For this achievement, you'll have to go back to City and battle against the Monster House boss. When you get to its final phase, however, you MUST destroy all four Meat Generators that appear to the left and right of the center eye to get the achievement!
That's all for now! Check back here for even more updates soon!

Now that the game's been out for 2 weeks, we just wanna say thanks for all the reviews, suggestions, and feedback! We've made sure to address (or we're in the process of addressing) any significant issues players have encountered, and we'll continue sending out posts as any issues get resolved. In short, we pay attention to what players have to say, so your reviews of the game help!
But, of course, we have to share some highlights...
"This is the modern Contra sequel we never got and needed so badly. Iron Meat is not just similar but after playing it, it is completely evident that it is a straight homage to the original classic."
We appreciate that greatly! Yes, Contra was our inspiration to make this game. We just wanted to add more MEAT to our initial ideas! Hence, mad scientist. Hence, Meat invasion.
"My favorit Boss is the Train, absolut wonderful designed and fun to fight ^^"
We like trains, too!
"This game is good but at the same time kinds hard ;(. But other than that this game is cool, but the one thing i think this game needs is a workshop. Idk if this is planned in the future but i just think it would be awesome if their is a workshop :)."
A workshop, eh? We'd have to think about that a bit more, but sounds interesting.
"Game is far to focus'd on killing the player via random enemy spawning or worse, untested unpolished boss patterns that leave you with 1 second to shoot the boss, and 30 seconds of dodging. You'll be battling against your patience more then the boss for 2/3 the fight."
Fair point, and that's true about battling against your patience. Our Lead Tester has also had the pleasure of dying hundreds upon hundreds of times to every boss in our earlier builds! He has become the Meat Prophet.
"...without an arcade mode it kills what makes Contra-like games fun for seasoned players and drastically reduces the time it takes to beat the game."
Oh? An Arcade Mode, huh? Hmm...
"What a damn good game"
Thank you!
"its good"
You're too kind!
"As we all know, there are usually 3 options at the end of the stage: next stage, restart and back to menu, but in Iron Meat there's just an OK and you can only proceed to the next stage. Sometimes I just want to kill the time and play a single stage, and the lack of options makes me a bit annoyed."
Sorry to hear that. Hmm, so more options other than OK at the end of every stage? So on the Results screen then. We'll talk about it internally.
"Definitely worth the price. While I've seen the common criticism of it being rather short, I'd say it focused more on packing a lot within that short time. I'm not too familiar with the games this was influenced by (Contra, Metal Slug, etc.), although this definitely feels right at home."
We appreciate that! That has been a common critique of the game, and that's definitely fair. All we'll say to that is...stay tuned!
But what about YOU?
If you haven't already done so, don't forget to leave the game a review on its official store page!
Tell us what you love (or don't love) about the game, and, who knows, we might just act on certain suggestions and ideas we like for the future!
We appreciate any and all feedback, and thanks again for playing Iron Meat!

Today we'll be going over how to unlock three specific achievements in Iron Meat. In order, we have Lights OUT!, Questionable Allegiance, and Package is Secure.
1. Lights OUT!
To get this achievement, you'll want to shoot at all the letters of the "LEVEL CLEAR" sign at the end of any level. Don't try to get this at the end of Skyscraper, though--that's a cutscene!
2. Questionable Allegiance
On Forest, you'll have to avoid destroying any of the Meat-ified turrets and complete the level on any difficulty. Earning this achievement will also get you the "Meat Soldier" skin!
3. Package is Secure
On Train, you will find a pair of boxes sitting on the flatbed cars. If you manage to NOT destroy both boxes and complete the level, you'll get the achievement. Or, you know, just play on Easy, and at least one of those boxes will be indestructible! Simple enough!

You can change the main menu background into 1 of 3 different variants! Each one tells a different story, depending on your progress in the game! Beating every mission and reaching the ending will allow you to change your main menu background to any of the three variants!
1. The Lunar Research Base
In the default background, we see scientist Yuri Markov working in his laboratory on the Moon as he studies the Meat cell in containment. Throughout the animation, we see other scientists walking around, along with Sasha carrying some equipment--likely a Meat sample perhaps? Soldiers seen in the lab stand at attention and salute as Sasha passes them. Out the window, we see ships moving about the lunar station, oblivious to the tragedy about to unfold...
2. Lab in Shambles
When playing through Iron Meat for the first time, you'll notice the background reflects the tattered remnants of Markov's lab--now decimated and overrun with tendrils and growths of Meat spores! We see infected humans running around, along with Blats and Dragonflies! Outside, a Meatified spaceship lumbers past the ruined the laboratory window; suffice to say that "spaceship" is probably a LIVING THING now!
3. Blood Ring
After completing the game the first time around, you'll be greeted by a third background variant: a distant view of Earth with a blood ring orbiting around it! Following Vadim and Sasha's escape from the Moon, our celestial neighbor detonates, thanks to the latter's bomb-planting efforts. The remains of the Moon's fleshy innards now circle our planet.
Surely, with the Meat cell gone and the Moon destroyed, this marks the final end of the Meat and a new beginning for humanity...
...Right?

Attention, soldiers! We've got the first round of patch notes here!
Updates
Added an "Additional Art" section to the credits listing other artists who contributed to some of the character sprites.
Fixes
Balanced the attack pattern values for certain phases during the final boss fight based on growing player feedback on its difficulty.
Fixed an issue where Sasha does not appear on the final level of the game after one player takes a 1UP from the other, which would cause a softlock.
Increased stick deadzone.
Fixed a visual bug causing a blue line to appear at the bottom of the screen on the game's demo version when using the retro filter.
Fixed an issue where in-game achievements were not being unlocked if the in-game language was set to Russian.
We'll be keeping an eye out for even more feedback from players and will move to address any significant issues that may pop up! In the meantime, check back here for more updates, and don't forget to get consumed by the hordes of Meat monsters threatening the planet! MEAT!

Lead developer Ivan Suvorov gives his thoughts on Iron Meat following its launch last week! Take a look!
1. So, here we are! Iron Meat's out in the wild! What has it been like seeing the game go from early development, to preparing for launch, and now to seeing people all over the world playing the game?
Ivan: If we talk about the very beginning of development, then to be honest I hardly imagined what the release would look like at all. It was something very distant and hard to imagine. And I didn't really focus on it--I just worked on the game.
It was certainly satisfying to finish the rather protracted development of the game. But I can't say that emotionally it was a milestone for me. Yes, purely by logic I understand that it is an important event, but my emotions don't seem to understand it yet (haha). Yes, it was very interesting to see how the players would welcome the game. As many people say in such cases, I guess I just haven't fully realized that the game is out yet.
2. We have seen so much praise and love for the game already, but how has it been for you? What are some things you've noticed players saying who reached out? How about the press or any publications?
Ivan: I was certainly hoping for good reviews, but the response has generally exceeded my expectations. Sometimes, I think the reviews are even too good to be true; it's just a game, and some players are happy as if I saved the world (haha). But of course it's very nice and adds to the enthusiasm. I would like to say thank you to everyone for such good reviews!
Overall, besides the praise, players say they are hoping for new modes in the game and sequels. Many have their own ideas (often really interesting ones) for the game's story or enemy design.
3. As the lead developer, what do you think separates Iron Meat from other titles in the genre? Can you briefly describe your vision for how you wanted the game to be?
Ivan: Well, I didn't really set out to bring anything new or stand out in any way. But what really makes the game stand out is the Meat-infested vehicles turned into monsters. It's not super original either, but it's a theme that really appeals to players.
I'm a fan of grimdark settings, and I don't really like bright and cheerful palettes in games. But at the same time, a balance is needed, so as not to turn a dark setting into a hopeless one. This goes for color palettes, as well as storytelling.
I also tried as much as I could to show that the player is not the only one who saves the world. Other fighters also bravely fight alien infestation, as well as help the protagonist, and this greatly affects the perception of the world of the game--as I think this is sorely lacking in a lot of games of this genre.
4. Was there anything you wish could have been included in the game's final version? If you could change or add one thing to what already exists in the game, what would it be?
Ivan: In general, I'll be honest, the game lacks replayability. I would like to add new modes--a la Boss Rush, some "mutators" (like a Classic game mode without life restoration and level selection, playing with only one type of weapon, a time limit, etc., etc.). Also, the game needs a "Nightmare" difficulty--as some high-skill players have no challenge even on the game's highest difficulty. However, this requires a VERY careful balance to keep the game passable. A custom difficulty setting would be interesting, as well.
It would also be interesting to implement player-loadable skin variants. The same goes for music--it seems to me that if a player can put the most appropriate (depending on their taste) track for a level. It would be very cool.
5. Where do you see yourself going from this exciting game launch as a developer? What are some challenges you can recall during the development process and what have you learned to do differently with your work process?
Ivan: I would certainly like to continue on my chosen path. It was interesting and productive! Of course, there was a lot of luck involved, but once you're lucky, you don't want to give up. The protracted development made me realize that I need to at least grow the team a little bit. When you do everything yourself, you do it exactly the way you want; you don't have to tell anyone how to do it right. But on the other hand, it VERY much stretches the development, so you have to compromise and delegate some of your work to someone else.
6. Lastly! Any plans for a sequel? An Iron Meat 2, perhaps??
Ivan: Oh, I've got a lot of plans. There's a sequel, a prequel, and games in a different genre based on the Iron Meat universe. At the moment, I consider the chances of sequels/prequels to be very high! The game has been very well-received by the players, so I'm not going to disappoint them by not having a sequel.
