Iron Meat

The Meat Invasion Begins in ONE MONTH!

Get ready to battle against the Meat on September 26th!

With just one month (well, technically it's one day LESS than a month) away from release, Iron Meat is ready to give players a truly modern retro experience--filled with familiar mechanics from classic run and gun titles, mixed together with contemporary features like unlockable skins, in-game achievements, a level-up system, and player character customization. Oh, and local 2-player couch co-op is here, too!

You'll face off against monstrous bosses in challenging, multi-phase fights, and you'll be able to pick up and upgrade multiple weapons along the way! Take the fight to the source of the Meat's invasion as you blast through 9 levels of bloody carnage.

And let your friends check your credentials with Iron Meat's player rank system that rewards you with a new skin every time you level up! Together with other skins locked behind certain achievements, you'll be able to earn over 30 different skins to customize your own player character!

And let's not forget about in-game achievements! Play through the game and witness your earned achievements grow in number. Sometimes it's GOOD to play the game in a way that isn't typical or normal!

Lastly, if you've got that sibling, friend, or roommate that wants to get in on all the gory action, have them join the fight with local 2-player couch co-op! To top it off, Player 2 will have access to the same skins Player 1 has unlocked, so be sure to go crazy with your inhuman combinations!...Or, you know, just use a base skin.

We're excited to be able to have Iron Meat available for everyone in just a month! Look forward to even more news as we get closer to Iron Meat's launch day!

Pick a Boss, Any Boss!

By now, you've likely seen plenty of mutated monsters running around in hordes of Meat creatures! Coming off the heels of our previous "What if?" post, which of these boss monsters would you choose as an ally?

1. The Entrail Blazer MK II - Tank Boss

No doubt one of the mainstays of the game, the Entrail Blazer Mk II is a tank infested with Meat spores and tendrils galore! Did we mention its GAPING mouth hidden under its primary cannon? Equipped with dual cannons, a toxic bubble launcher, and a hungry appetite, you won't miss a beat at causing explosions and sheer mayhem if this boss joined forces with you!

2. The Carrionvoy - Train Boss

Another familiar boss monster is featured here! The Carrionvoy, aka the Iron Serpent, makes for an interesting choice for a friendly monster pal. What it lacks in sheer firepower, it makes up for with its tough, serpentine body composed of a seemingly endless line of train cars! With an ability to summon a bunch of Blats with a bone-chilling roar, plasma blood embers that track enemies, and a gory vomit breath that can singe even the toughest armor, the Carrionvoy is certain to be a noteworthy choice for a potential boss companion!

3. The MI-24 - Helicopter Boss

One of the "newest" additions to the featured boss lineup, the MI-24 helicopter boss is a high-flying crocodile-like menace that deploys gunfire, missiles, toxic bubbles, and Meat-infected humans down to any battlefield! Imagine flying over a city overrun with armies of Meat creatures, only to begin raining your plasma-energy-filled gunfire down upon them--mixed together with the full might of the MI-24 setting the Meaty grounds even more ablaze! Sounds like a match made with MEAT!

Iron Meat will LAUNCH on September 26!

We’re excited to announce that Iron Meat will be launching here on Steam on Thursday, September 26th later this year!!

AND, for those interested, we will also be releasing a PHYSICAL EDITION of Iron Meat on the SAME DAY--distributed by Strictly Limited!

For so long we’ve been anticipating and planning when would be the best time to launch the game, and we’re proud to finally be able to tell you when you can get your hands on it! Physical Editions of the game will launch at the same time as the digital release on September 26th!

Iron Meat is a gore-ific run-and-gun shooter that pits you against the ravenous forces of the Meat–an all-consuming entity that desires nothing more than the assimilation of humankind. Taking on the role of a supersoldier under the Earth Counter Invasion Force (ECIF), you begin your counterattack against the monsters that seek to ravage the world!

Set in an alternate reality where humanity successfully developed technology and weaponry unlike what we know now, the game puts you on a mission to stop the invading Meat hordes and eliminate them at their source!

After discovering the hidden potential of the Meat, scientist Yuri Markov attempted to study the entity in his laboratory on the Moon. But after revealing its sentience, the Meat breaks out, assimilates Markov, and turns the Moon into its lunar fortress! Eager to devour all of humanity, the Meat–now using Markov’s body–descends upon Earth with its vast hordes of monsters and mutated victims!

So get ready to grab a rifle, grab a friend, and defend humanity from annihilation!

We hope you'll look forward to even more as we prepare for LAUNCH DAY on September 26th, and don't forget--physical editions of the game will be available, as well!!

The Perfect MEAT Companion!

Imagine being stranded at a certain extraction point, unable to call for reinforcements as you fight back against an onslaught of Meat monsters…until one of those monsters starts fighting by your side!

In this hypothetical scenario, we’ve picked out several Meat monsters found among the horde (excluding bosses!) that may prove themselves worthy of being counted as an ally of humanity…or, maybe just an ally of YOU!

Infected Meat Car

Why not face your doom riding in style? A very HUNGRY and BLOODTHIRSTY style! Maybe it’s the image of shooting down hordes upon hordes of monsters from an Infected Meat Car that piques the interest of some.

Or perhaps the thought of valiantly crashing your way into a boss’s innards, as you go out with an explosion of the ages, is all you need to think of when selecting this monster? Whatever the case, you can’t go wrong with this one–only other question would be: WHICH Meat Car would you choose?

Blat

Sometimes you just need a little sense of humor when facing the near end of the world. Or maybe a sense of humor ISN’T what comes to mind when looking at a Blat’s face with its tongue constantly falling to its side!

Nevertheless, a Blat is the perfect personal flying companion that can either give you some solace knowing you have a friend at your side, or some twisted dread knowing this flying creature can only…fly around as you get eaten, mangled, torn apart, etc. all while this thing flies around and around–tongue out.

But if you anticipate doing all the heavy lifting in terms of fighting and just want a friendly flying critter for the sake of having one, then a Blat is definitely for you!

Infected Human / Turretface / Hothead

What instantly comes to mind is the idea of a human who is still able to retain their humanity even after becoming infected by the Meat. Now, while the image of conversing with a partially disembodied or morphed human may frighten some, it could perhaps be a welcome (and unexpected) sight for others in the face of overwhelming odds.

It would come down to preference in this case: Would you want one of the many common Infected Human versions running around? Or maybe a talking Turretface may serve a more practical use with its orange projectile fire?

Even still, Hotheads may provide much needed pressure when dealing with hordes, thanks to their explosive craniums!

Grubs

You love ’em, you hate ‘em, or you feel nothing about ‘em! These little critters are intended to overwhelm their prey with their sheer numbers. There is suspicion that these smaller worms are capable of entering and infecting living hosts, taking control of their bodies and expanding the horde.

But having one at your side? Probably either the dumbest or the most innovative choice you could imagine! If its parasitic ability holds true, just throw this little one inside the mouth of any boss monster, and watch the excruciating “magic” happen as the boss suddenly becomes your ally! Regardless, some soldiers may find these critters to be cute, so there’s plus!...as long as they’re not trying to assimilate YOU!

Chomper

Picture this: You’re about to be attacked from behind by an Infected Human when CHOMP! You turn around to find your Chomper friend enjoying its freshly caught meal.

Breathing a sigh of relief, you pet your monster pal, point to another Infected Human, and chase after it to reengage the horde!

Now, one could imagine several disadvantages with this one, but having a Meat monster available that will be more than happy to gobble up enemies for you? Yes, please!

As the Earth struggles to counter the Meat invasion, having one of their own as an ally can be quite an interesting concept to think of! Each of the monsters listed has their fair share of advantages and drawbacks–some more prominent than others.

Regardless, you can look forward to choosing a BOSS MONSTER you’d want as a friend the next time around!

The Meat: An Experiment Gone Wrong!

During his work on interdimensional portal research, scientist Yuri Markov was able to discover an entity existing within an uncharted space. With curiosity getting the better of him, Markov decided to bring the entity back to his lab at the Tycho Crater Base on the Moon.

While under the supervision of the Earth Counter Invasion Force, Markov conducted experiments on the entity he dubbed as "The Meat" to try and understand its functions, energy harvesting, and interdimensional capabilities. However, the scientist was also able to identify how The Meat could absorb inanimate objects and, to his shock, organic material--FLESH.

Knowing of the potential horrors that could be unleashed should The Meat ever come into contact with humans, Markov resolved to keep the entity contained at his lab as he continued to study it further.

However, what Markov did not account for was that The Meat was, in fact, sentient. Biding its time while watching Markov work oblivious to its intentions, The Meat prepared to break out of its feeble prison created by the scientist and his team.

Finally, upon learning of Markov’s true intentions for studying it, The Meat believed the time had come to free itself and begin its assimilation of the Moon Base and, subsequently, the invasion of Earth...

Achieving Achievements!

For those up for a challenge, Iron Meat will come packaged with more than 30 achievements to earn! At the start, every achievement will appear dim with a blue padlock over their icon; also, their names and descriptions appear as unknown.

You'll notice as you play through the game that certain achievements will be unlocked for level completion, or for doing specific actions (that we won't spoil here!). Also, some of the rarest skins are locked behind certain achievements, so do your best to earn them all!

Finally, when you've earned an achievement, you'll see a notification slide-in within the game, which will tell you the name of said achievement. You can head on over to the Achievements screen to see the condition you fulfilled to earn it!

We're excited to be including both skin unlocks and achievements in Iron Meat, and we're looking forward to players having a shot at collecting and completing all of them!
