I am currently working on a significant revamp of the open-world gameplay in IronWolf. A highly requested feature has been to allow for immersive travel, moving away from the existing map-based fast travel where you are locked inside the submarine.
To achieve this, I am redesigning the open-world gameplay around a time compression mechanism. This will allow players to travel vast distances at a speed of their choosing, allowing them to go on deck using a telescope to spot distant ships or the hydrophone to detect far-off convoys, and seamlessly navigate towards them.
Here is a brief preview of the time compression mechanic.
