As comp9 rightfully pointed out, we forgot to actually post a news update when we released our Faster patch to the public ... ːalienmouthː yeah, that one is on me I'm afraid ...
Download the update, call a buddy and crack open a cold one. You'll be set for a night of alien-slaying goodness! There's plenty of fixes, tweaks and improvements. If you want the complete overview, head over to this post.
NEW: FROM SPACE now in development!
So, now that that's done, what's next? Well, we're happy to announce that we're working on something NEW! FROM SPACE is a spiritual successor to It came from space and ate our brains, but aims to take the entire experience to the next level. We've just launched the store page, so consider wishlisting the game if you want to support us, or join the Discord server if you want to stay up-to-date on our progress during development.
And to wet your appetite, here's a few reasons to be excited about FROM SPACE:
Hey everyone - We've completed our second major update to the game, the FASTER patch! Kind of ironic when it takes us a few months to complete, but quite a few things have happened since our last patch.
1. We've taken back publishing control of our title. Our collaboration with All In Games was great, but their focus shifted to their major titles, with little time for ours. With our future plans, we wanted to take the lead again which means we're once again self-publishing this title.
2. As you may know, the game is also available on consoles. With the next generation coming out, we were waiting to see what impact it might have on our title. So far, we've decided not to do a(nother) visual overhaul, but we have chosen to add a few options that will allow people with a next-gen device to take full advantage of the extra graphical horsepower. You PC people won't have to worry about this too much, but in the course of things, we have further optimized the game, so if you're running on a laptop, the game will likely be smoother for you too!
So here's the changelog for this update:
Fixed a bug where additional waves wouldn't spawn when waiting for an objective to complete.
Fixed an issue where the player was unable to hit an object when it was too close.
Fixed an issue where the player was able to shoot through walls with some of the larger guns.
The fourth screen is now used to display player ranking when playing with three players.
Fixed a performance issue during the Victory screen.
Improved hit-box for aliens, making it easier to hit them from or on an incline.
Improved balance for audio, making the music much more audible in many situations.
Improved performance on lower-end devices by optimizing older code.
Improved pick-up visuals, now clearly stating what the item is, allowing users to decide weither the pick it up or not.
Added a QR code to the main menu, linking to the Triangle Studios Discord server.
Steam - Changed controller behavior so that a controller can now be used by a second player instead of always being assigned to the first player.
Steam - Updated the Steam Libraries for this build.
Steam - Fixed an issue where the Steam Controller would not have a Default Configuration assinged to it.
And in case you're wondering about changes to other platforms :-)
PS4 - Fixed a bug where unassigned controllers would not show the white color.
PS4 - Added DualShock4 speaker support.
Xbox - Fixed an issue where the game would not return to title screen after switching user account.
PS4 & Xbox - Added the option to unlock framerate
PS4 & Xbox - Added dynamic scaling, allowing up to 4K resolutions
One thing I wanted to point out is something that was mentioned by quite a few people on the community board. An issue has been fixed where a second player was unable to join though the controller, while the primary player was using keyboard and mouse. That should be resolved now.
If you want to help us out, switch to the Beta branch and try out the latest version. We hope you like it! Join our Discord server if you want to join the conversation and discuss future changes or updates :-)

Looks like we’re still stuck at home, huh? Not sure how to spend your evenings? We know that many of you prefer to do your team alien killing in person but, as you have probably noticed, we all have to play by different rules for a while. So, until your death-dealing club meets on the same couch again, Steam Remote Play has a solution that will work for everyone.
...wait, that sounds familiar. Have we already told you that? Well, let’s explain how to slay online again for the people in the back! And this time we have video footage! Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sf7e59GEz38
How do I use Steam Remote Play Together?
Launch ‘It came from space and ate our brains’
Open your Friends List and right-click to Invite your friends
They accept the invite in the chat window
Start slaying
To access your Friends List, you may need to open Steam Overlay (Shift+Tab by default).
But there’s also another way! Steam Remote Play Together is still quite a new addition to the Steam environment, so its performance may vary across regions. For those of you who experience any issues, we present an alternative.
You can play the classic version of the game (online mode included) by switching to another branch on Steam:
Right-click on the game in the Steam Library
Select Properties
Head to the BETAS tab
Choose classic - Original version of the game
Did we reach the people in the back? Yes? Perfect! Now, launch your Steam and make sure that your evening will slay.

We’re interrupting the alien invasion to bring you egg-ceptional wishes! No, it’s not “may you live in interesting times” (well, we already are!), no yolking around!
We wish you lots of health points and may you encounter 0 (an egg)... errr 0 (zero) deadly enemies on your life path.
You’re doing so much for humanity by staying home and slaying aliens, so we’re doing our best for you too! Just recently we’ve launched an open beta update called HARDER (as in “harder than hard-boiled eggs”!), which you can find here. You can also play remotely with your awesome team by using Steam Remote Play Together, more information here.
So gather your friends and be badasses together! Play It came from space and ate our brains now!
Also, do tell us which eggs you prefer. Real-life eggs or aliens eggs? Let us know in the comments!

It’s been a few weeks since the launch of It came from space and ate our brains on consoles and our major update on Steam, and we can honestly say we’re thrilled with the response we’ve seen so far. During this time of social distancing, the magic of the internet, as usual, has all the answers. We know that many of you prefer to do your team alien killing in person but, as you have probably noticed, we all have to play by different rules for a while. So, until your death-dealing club meets on the same couch again, Steam Remote Play has a solution that will work for everyone.
With Steam Remote Play, you and your squad can play ‘It came from space and ate our brains’ together, without moving from the couch. How? It’s as simple as repeating the game’s name ten times in a single breath. Uh, actually no. But you know what we mean.

Get to slaying aliens!
Now that you’re armed and ready to face pink monsters, ping your friends and get ready to pew pew pew!
Things you’ll find during your alien-killing journey
Having trouble making it through hordes of aliens? Here’s some gear that will help you to stay alive (for another few seconds, anyway):
Blue pick-ups:
Medkit - A life-saving tool that will help you when the aliens get too close. Trust me, I’m the doctor. All players within the heal area will be granted a heart. Sounds more romantic than it really is. Can be used to revive teammates.
Oh, yeah, that’s better. Now back to killing.
Green pick-ups:
Beams - Get a frickin' laser beam attached to your head! It will protect you from harm and harm others instead. Mwahahaha!
Shield - Better than using your face.
Mines - A powerful area-effect weapon. Step on it and it’ll explode after a while. Blink and you’re dead. Just run as fast as you can... and leave the aliens behind! Hey, alien, it would be a real shame if you stepped on THIS!
Turret - Exterminate! Exterminate! Place it on the ground and it will automatically shoot enemies in its range. It’ll explode after a while, exterminating everything around it.
Who knew the alien invasion would be in neon pink?
Dear aliens, sorry we had to kill you. Sincerely, Earth.
Gold pick-ups:
Money - Receive 2500 coins to spend on weapon upgrades!
Pink pick-ups:
Random temporary weapon upgrade - Lasts for 30s and is always one upgrade level higher then your current weapon level.
I need this. Not want, need.
Keep an eye out for these items while exploring locations full of aliens to delay your inevitable death just a little...

No worries, bro! We’ll get them next time.
