Just getting back from the holidays and tossed up a couple quick fixes.
- Fixed an issue with the Against All Odds achievement not triggering in a specific setting.
- Corrected an issue where illegal file name characters in a guild name would prevent the game from saving. It will now strip illegal characters when creating the file name.
We should have some new stuff in the testing build in the next week or so, but just wanted to toss these quick corrections out there for you all!
It's A Wipe! Patch 1.15S!
Hello All!
This patch is mainly to address an issue where certain users with non-English characters in their Windows profile name were unable to save the game. There are also some minor spelling corrections and a small change in tank setup.
Here are the detailed notes for 1.15S:
- Configurable Save Game Path -
If you experience consistent problems saving the game, you can now configure the save games to a specific path. You will need to open the local game files and go into the Common directory. Open commonConfig.xml in a text editor and add the line (with the actual directory instead of the XXXX):
xxxx
*Important notes: Do not use a closing slash, and all slashes are forward slashes. For example: C:/Temp
Would be a valid entry.
If the game saves for you normally, we don't recommend trying to switch to using a different setting.
- Tanks With No Targets -
In the raid role setup if you have a character assigned as a tank, but give them no targets, they will now switch to be DPS.
- Me No Type Good -
Fixed a few minor typos in item descriptions.
That's it for now! Happy Holidays! And, the next update will likely be after Christmas :)
It's A Wipe! Patch #3!
Greeting All!
After a few days of debugging we have corrected a number of issues that could cause the game to hang or crash - particularly on a certain fight. A new way to configure your graphics setting has been made available & one minor buff to gifting made it into this build!
Here's what is new in version 1.14S:
- User Configurable Graphics System Override -
- Since identical physical cards with the same drivers, but different configurations apparently work better with one graphics system than another we are giving users the ability to force the game to try to only use one display option and backed out individual card code.
To change the setting open the local game files and go into the Common directory. Open commonConfig.xml in a text editor and add the line:
1
(You typically want to try this if you get a black screen on the default settings.)
or,
1
(OpenGL is used by default, so you shouldn't typically need to use this one.)
*Note: Most of the other settings are disabled, sorry no console key, or will cause issues if you change them.
*Note: To prevent your commonConfig.xml settings from getting overwritten if you verify the local cache integrity, you can make a copy called "userConfig.xml" in the same directory and it will use those settings instead.
- Big Bug Fixes -
- The first fight in the Insect Temple should no longer hang on the change to the third phase.
- In uncommon circumstances, healers would get deadlocked trying to decide who to heal next... causing the game to hang while they tried to decide. A hard cap was placed on how many times they could try to figure it out before it will just skip it and send them on with their existant target list.
- In some timing situations where mobs despawn/respawn combat effects (floaty numbers, etc.) could be trying to draw on a no longer existing object causing an error. Checks have been added to verify that the target for combat effect still exists (some had checks previously, but now everything should.)
- In some timing situations an end of turn check would carry over into the end of turn phase causing minor internal errors (I don't think this would directly crash the game, just throw out of range exceptions). Checks have been added to skip checking if the turn has ended if the fight is already over and you are getting loot.
- Improved Gifts -
- All, but the top level, of gifts have had some benefits added. Raiders now consider them loot. While you won't see an immediate improvement to morale, it should boost some behind the scenes numbers for raiders who have gotten passed over on items in raids.
That's it for now! If people are no longer seeing crash issues (*fingers crossed*) we'll be moving on to reviewing some less critical issues. A number of quality of life improvements have been suggested that we would like to add, some wonky agro needs to be reviewed, and a few item description typos have been pointed out ;) Hopefully we'll have another patch of just improvements, at least for testing, by the end of this weekend.
I hope everyone continues to enjoy the game and we'll keep trying to improve it! :happyraider:
It's A Wipe! Day 4 Patch Notes
Hello All!
We are continuing to try to address issues that have been found following the Steam release. This patch contains a few definite fixes for some specific issues, as well as additional debugging output to help try to investigate problems that we cannot reproduce locally.
Here is what is new in build 1.13S:
Graphics Handling Improvements:
- We have added in conditional direct 3D graphics support. If you experience an issue where you just get a black screen when trying to launch the game, please try to use the Video testing beta build.
To load this build, go to the game in your library and bring up the properties window. From there go to the Beta tab. It will allow you to select a Video Testing release from the drop down. If you download that build (and possibly verify the local files) it will force direct 3D graphics instead of the default OpenGL. If this does work to resolve the issue, please send our support staff a copy of the console.log found in the local game files for It's A Wipe! so that we can add your video card to the list to use direct 3D in the core build.
In this build we have added direct 3D support for:
GeForce GTX 780 Ti
AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series
AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series
Fixed:
- The Delete Saved Game functionality has been corrected. It was not working in the initial Steam build.
Debugging:
- Additional output to the console log has been added for set out of range errors and save game creation errors.
Tweaks:
- In trying to track down an issue that can cause the game to hang on some fights, we did a pass through the mob actions. Some loops were cleaned up, which might help with this issue. I would be pleasantly surprised if this did fix the issue entirely, but that's what the debugging additions are for!
Informational:
- The "Testing" build is no longer set to force direct 3D. If you are having black screen issues, please make sure to use the "Video Testing" version.
- The user that has been in touch with us about being unable to save at all appears to have invalid characters in his windows user profile name. The save games get created under the :\users\\ folder on Windows 7 & 8 machines. Removing nonstandard characters from the profile should address the inability to save. Though, we may look at adding an option to configure a save game directory in a future update.
If other issues come up please let us know and we will look into them. We hope that people are enjoying the game, and we will continue to work to improve the stability as best we can!
It's A Wipe! Day 2 Patch
Hello All!
Thanks to everyone who has supported the Steam release of It's A Wipe! We have put together a number of fixes based on issues reported by the community after release.
Here's what has changed in version 1.12:
Fixed:
- Corrected an issue with Tank Switch where it would skip the last mob, which was a major issue with solo boss fights. It should now loop on the enemy list correctly!
- Ludicrous speed is now less crazy. All crash issues reported seem to have been caused by timing problems with the highest speed setting. Fast is about twice as fast as normal, where ludicrous was about 50% faster than that. It has been reduced to 40% faster and some checks have been added to try to prevent problems when timing events would run into one another.
Tweaks:
- Cleaned up some of the auto-selection during Raid Role Selection, so that it more consistently selects the first player when appropriate.
- After the first turn, Stick With The Plan is highlighted as a default option on successive turns.
- Increased the Tank Switch agro bonus when a new tank initially tries to get main threat on a target.
- Made minor code clean ups to the save game path handling.
- Updated some of the graphics handling of the core engine.
New:
- This is only half done, since new art tends to take longer than coding, but a new option to enable/disable vertical sync has been added to the Video Options. This can be toggled using the V key on the Video options screen, but should only need to be changed if you are seeing a frame rate issue.
Important Notes:
- Some AMD HD series cards have problem with OpenGL, which is the graphics utilized by out engine. Users may experience a black screen when trying to launch. This has been an issue with other games made on this engine, and some notes about trying to backdate the drivers can be found here:
http://www.spacepiratesandzombies.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1659
and elsewhere on the internet.
We'll see what we can do on our side, but it may take a bit to add other graphics handling options.
- A couple users have reported issues saving the game the very first time the game is launched. If you experience this, try closing and restarting the game. From what we have heard, saving has worked consistently after this. We tried making some changes with this patch, but can't say definitively that they will correct this issue.
Thanks to everyone who has supported our game on Steam! We hope that you enjoy the game and we'll continue working to try to make playing a smoother experience. :veryhappyraider:
