We've still got tons of ideas and features we'd love to explore and implement both big and small. Here's a small selection of things we have on our list:
New rooms/environments (some specific to mega sized puzzles)
Puzzle variations (new piece styles, and puzzles with special material/texture effects)
Lighting updates (day/night, improve current lighting)
Gradient puzzle maker tool
New game modes and ways to puzzle
Workshop support for room designs
New options for puzzle hanging (such as customizable framing)
Thanks so much to everyone who has supported the game <3 We look forward to many more updates and additions in the future!
Supporter Pack Preload
A lot of code was changed to allow stickers in game and in multiplayer, so we decided to have a preload of the update to address any bugs affecting the main game before the sticker pack comes out.
Right now everything is feature complete and we are working on polishing, bug fixing, and testing before the release on Jan 25.
Now that we have the interface in here are some more details on how things work.
Sticker Sheets
Stickers come arranged on sticker sheets in different categories. You start with a few unlocked and can unlock more with sticker challenges.
Sticker Challenges
Solving challenges will either unlock new stickers or a whole new sticker sheet. After you unlock stickers more challenges show up using those stickers.
To solve a challenge use the clues to figure out how to solve the puzzle.
Cursor Trails
Cursor trails activate temporarily by pressing a button and leave a cursor trail behind for a short while. These can be used to celebrate or bring attention to your cursor in multiplayer!
There will be a number of different styles to choose from, like snow, smoke, butterflies, and puzzle pieces with their own unique animations.
Each style can then be further customized by changing the colors and selecting effects.
You can also set your player color that shows up on your cursor or in game chat!
Sticker Permissions
With all these stickers we figured people might want to be able to manage them in multiplayer, especially if streaming to a large group of players.
With sticker permissions you can limit how many stickers players can place, or restrict placing stickers to certain areas to keep the puzzling area clean.
*This interface is available to everyone even if you don't have the DLC.
Saving and Removing Stickers
You can save and load room sticker designs separate from the room design. You can also choose to clear all stickers in a room or only clear ones that other players in multiplayer have placed.
Sticker Details
Stickers in a room contain information on who placed them and when. Every room will contain a bit of history of your sticker and puzzling adventures :).
Stickers from Indie games will show a description and link to the game so you can check out all the awesome game devs!
All the Indie Game Stickers
We collaborated with a number of our favorite indie developers include stickers of their games! The response has been overwhelming and it's going to be so great to be able to show off our favorite games.
Here is a list of all indie game stickers included.
A cute spooky town where you can carve pumpkins and put your creations on display. Hosted for free every year around Halloween! https://adamgryu.itch.io/pumpkin-carver
What will this pack include? Let's get into it what we've been working on!
Custom Cursor Trails
I've been having a lot of fun working on special effects for a bunch of different cursor trail effects. All have customizable colors and effects and come in many styles. Butterflies, bats, fire, snow, puzzles pieces, and more! Every effect comes with special animations to match it.
The effect will activate with a button press and last a short while. We quickly realized having it on all the time becomes distracting so now it works like a boost button which is much better. You can activate it to bring attention to an area of the puzzle or celebrate a piece being put in. At the end of a puzzle everyone can boost their cursor trails to celebrate. It's really great and I can't wait to try it in a real game :).
Indie Game Stickers!
When we were coming up with sticker ideas we kept returning to thoughts of how people would put stickers of their favorite bands on things and that got us thinking. How do we recreate that feel in a video game? We've collaborated with over 30 indie game studios to include a huge collection of stickers featuring their fantastic game art, iconic characters, and logos!
More and more stickers, over 2,000 stickers!
All stickers are finalized and in game and we are at the final stages. We started with a dozen but kept thinking of more we wanted and once we had those we didn't want to leave out the possibility of not having what you want so added more, and more.
Sticker Challenges
Unlock hundreds of stickers through sticker challenges. Use the hints to figure out the sticker combination to beat the challenge.
DLC page is up, wishlist now!
We've started working on the store page and will be adding more details in the coming days. Add the DLC to your wishlist to get notified on release!
Thanks to everyone who has supported our game, and to all the awesome indie studios who gave us the opportunity to feature their fantastic creations as stickers!
We'll be uploading a pre-load soon so we can work out any non sticker bugs ahead of time. Then after release we'll go over a list of updates and additions planned for the main game. If everything goes well we will have more time to focus on many more additions to the game into the future!
Progress Report: Stickers, Stickers, Stickers!
Hi all, just an update on our progress with the upcoming Supporter DLC.
First up, stickers.
I've been tweaking the materials to make the stickers as realistic as possible while also adding in options for special types like foil stickers
I've also added in tools to the game to allow Nic to quickly import stickers and modify all the shading options so his work on designing can go a lot faster.
Speaking of which we haven't ever mentioned our development team before. It consists of me (Shawn) who works on all of the programming for the game and my brother Nic who does all graphic design for game interface, update posts, and is currently working on secret stickers not yet shown!
In addition to foil stickers I've been experimenting with adding a worn look although I'm not sure what to do with it yet.
We were originally thinking of having stickers wear out in high traffic areas with a lot of puzzle pieces but that really limits any stickers having the effect. Another idea is just have them wear out over time although I wouldn't want all original placed stickers to wear out at exactly the same time. Maybe in the end we will just put in an option for users to modify them if they wish.
I'm not really sure but it does look pretty cool :)
Next up, more stickers.
What started as a few fun bonuses for a supporter DLC has now taken on a life of it's own and as such there is going to be more stickers than we originally planned. Much more. Much, much, much more.
In the words of John Hammond: "spared no expense".
Hopefully this does not all end with us eating our last ice cream before it melts because our power got shut off :).
Also sticker puzzles!
In addition to the stickers you get we will also be including a number of challenges to unlock even more.
We originally thought of the idea of including some secret easter eggs like if you put sunglasses on Dracula you unlock a bonus sticker and then just couldn't stop thinking of ideas until we decided to just include a full list of puzzles to do with the stickers.
The idea is there will be a list of hints and by placing stickers in certain ways you unlock more stickers which in turn will unlock more challenges.
As an example a hint could be "unlock the chest" and by placing a sticker of a key on top of a treasure chest sticker you unlock more stickers. Then those stickers can be used for future puzzles too.
On the topic of combining stickers I haven't had much time to just play around too much with all the work to be done but am already seeing this as a game changer for fun hijinks in multiplayer!
Here is a cool cat with sunglasses hanging out with a guitar playing Dracula wearing a top hat.
Or adding stickers to your finished puzzles on the wall.
Halloween has been extended for another month!
We had hoped to be able to release this update this month and in anticipation have added loads of Halloween themed stickers. Since that's looking less and less likely we will be officially extending the holiday one month for anyone playing Jigsaw Puzzle Dreams :).
And if you are not into that, don't worry there will be plenty of sticker themes for other seasons!
I'll post more updates as we have more completed, including details on custom cursor trails and possibly a bonus puzzle.
And to fill in anyone not here for the last post this all will be included in an upcoming "Supporter" DLC that will sell for $9.99.
People with the DLC will be able to decorate their own room with stickers and also place stickers in the rooms of friends in multiplayer, even if they do not own any DLC. They will stay even after you leave the game.
Update 1.3.1.2
Fixed sync issue when players join mid game while other players have stacked pieces in hand
Fixed sync issue on large puzzle sizes when player joins mid game and pieces are being moved while they are creating puzzle
Optimized processing bulk drops to allow single drop pieces to move ahead of queue for faster response

Fixed issue with having stack in hand and starting a new puzzle

Hopefully this will put us back to stable after the big 1.3 update. Now back to working on stickers!
