Hello Just Get Through Community! You might've missed me, but I am back with a new game! My greatest and most ambitious project so far! And you will be glad to hear that I am going back to my roots with a minimalistic roguelike game! This time it's a shooter though, and not a platformer. But if you've played Just Get Through you will find a lot of similarities between it and my new game: COLT CANYON
All I am saying is procedural generation, dynamite, minimalistic color palette and a bunch of familiar traps!
Colt Canyon is a 2D pixel art shooter where you control a cowboy, or one of the many other unlockable characters, whose mission is to save his kidnapped partner from the ruthless bandits. Take your gun and TNT and shoot your way through a hostile canyon full of hidden treasures, weapons, obstacles and all kinds of bloodthirsty scum.
You will also be pleased to hear that Colt Canyon is the first Retrific game to be released on consoles next to PC! It's already available on Steam, GOG, Xbox One and Switch and will be coming to PlayStation later this year.
Check out the release trailer and then please go check out the steam page of Colt Canyon! The first week after launch you will even be able to play a free demo of Colt Canyon on steam!
my new game Beeftacular was finally released on steam and is now available!
If you still enjoy platformers and you want a new challenge, with polished and smooth gameplay, many handcrafted levels and a level editor with steam workshop support, then go check out my new platformer!
The controls are even better than in Just Get Through. The gamplay feels more direct, tighter and smoother. The character will do exactly what you want him to do. And now you don't have to use your mouse to aim anymore, Beeftacular can be played with both hands on the keyboard or using a gamepad. Way more comfortable to play, fairer and less random.
You didn't like the long runs in Just Get Through or the randomization?
You want quick, short and precise platformer action with cool levels, action and speedrunning features? Check out Beeftacular!
Play and judge for yourself.

Help my new game Beeftacular on Steam Greenlight!
Hello!
If you haven't followed me on twitter lately you will probably haven't heard from me for a long time.
That's because I was busy working on new projects!
One of which is now on Steam Greenlight :)
Yea that's right, a new platformer by Retrific is about to get released! Wohoo :D
Now that you all reached level 50 in Just Get Through it's time for a new challenge. This time you will get short and fast, handcrafted levels instead of long, slow, randomly generated levels.
The trailer of Beeftacular:

Thanks everyone and while we wait for the release of Beeftacular how about you try to reach level 10 in hardcore mode?

Update 1.3 - Massive Update
Update 1.3 - Winter Update
Hello folks,
yes I know I said JGT won't get any big updates anymore, but I changed my mind. Update 1.3 is my Christmas present to you, on time for the big winter sale :D
One of the biggest changes that comes with this update is the classic mode online leaderboard reset. This means that all previous made classic mode highscores will get lost :( But thats a small sacrifice that we are willing to take, right? Right.
From now on the classic mode will get treated just like one of the other gamemodes, this means the classic mode now also uses steam leaderboards.
This has many advantages, that I already told you about in a previous announcement. Anyway, this update brings also many other long awaited features! Read it for yourself, you can find the full changelog below, or ingame by clicking on the small, blinking exclamation mark in the main menu :)
Also with this Update the holiday sale starts, and Just Get Through is on sale. This time with a rare discount of 80%! This is the biggest discount JGT ever had, and it will be the last big sale JGT has, for some time at least.
I hope with this sale the new classic mode leaderboard will fill up quickly.
And I also hope that this sale will help me funding my new project Subscout.
Thank you for reading this, enjoy the update and happy holidays
Added Steam Cloud support (Could lead to save problems, but this is steams fault, not mine)
No more daily runs on weekends. Instead: Weekly Runs!*
Snow! From now on it's snowing in December and January
Added a Developer Console**
New seeding system, use the console and enter seed [seed] to use it
Walls start to crumble a little bit later
Quick Restart
New Sign texts
Changed several description texts
Changes on some traps and objects
Fragile walls won't create boulders when destroyed
Decreased Boulder Creation chance
You can now dig faster
Less items in the first few levels
Made Arrow Bot less accurate
Made Rocket Bot more accurate
Fixed some bugs, for example one where you sometimes couldn't do a walljump
Thats about it. Here are more information on some of the new features:
*Introducing: Weekly Runs! Weekly Runs are just like daily runs, but instead of only one try, everyone can play this run as often as he wants. You get the whole weekend to get to know the levels in this run and to reach the top of this weeks leaderboard.
Everyone gets the same seed.
**Introducing: The developer console! I mainly implemented this console for myself, I use it in my other games for debug reasons. But it can also be a feature for you players. You won't have to open the console even once if you don't want to, but for more advanced and creative players the console can be fun. For example you can write little scripts to customize your gaming experience. Currently its only possible to run one script at once, but thats more than enough for now.
For example you can now add your own color palettes!!!
And this is pretty easy actually:
Press 'C' to open the console. Now write "addpalette" and press enter.
You will see a message that tells you how to use this command.
For example you can Ctrl+C this command:
addpalette Winter 1909369 5462372 11052930 16777215 13749416 4430579 12237200 8953460 and Ctrl+V it in the console. Press Enter and you will find a new color palette in your game. The numbers are color codes, but you don't have to know the color codes. You can also work with rgb or hsv values. Just use rgb(R,G,B) with values from 0-255 instead of the numbers.
Use software like GIMP to find the colours you want.
When you restart the game the color palette will be gone. So not every test color palette will stay forever in your game. But if you want to have a few color palettes forever in your game you will have to add them every time you start the game. There is an easy way on how to do this. As previously said the game now supports small scripts containing console commands.
Just create a textfile with the commands you want to call. One line = one command. Now set the file ending from .txt to .ascr and place this file in
%localappdata%/JustGetThrough/scripts. (.ascr files will get called automatically, all other scripts can get executed using the command "run [filename]")
Now the script will get called automatically everytime you start the game. That way you can add custom color palettes to your game.
Now you could for example create custom color palette packs and then share the .ascr script with other players.
Just don't crash your game. Use this console on your own risk! It's called DEVELOPER console for a reason. It's easy to crash the game using this console.

Classic Mode Leaderboard Reset?
Hey,
I want to do another big Just Get Through Update. But before I start working on this update I need your opinion, because this update would need the classic mode leaderboard to get reset.
I created a more detailed post in the community forums, please take a look at it:

Update 1.2.2 - Polishing the game
Hello,
I just updated the public branch to 1.2.2. This is not a huge update with tons of new content, because as said Just Get Through is pretty much complete and I want to focus on new projects.
Anyway, I still tried to polish JGT a little bit more, because I watched some Just Get Through Let's Plays and read some reviews and that's where I found many things that needed to get changed. This means I fixed several bugs, improved many minor things, corrected various mistakes and tweaked several mechanisms.
Originally I didn't want to publish a new gameversion but after so many small hotfix updates I thought that it would be better to fix the remaining stuff and then lable this update + all previous hotfixes as a new gameversion: 1.2.2
That's why some changes are already on the public branch and some only on the beta branch. But from now on the beta branch is equal to the public branch.
Here is the changelog:
Changed some level generation rules
Changed the Speed Run Mode
You can now toggle off color palettes (Deactivated palettes won't get chosen when 'random palette per level/run' is enabled)
Nice Level 50 and beyond stuff :D Reach level 50 to trigger it
Hold Shift to do bigger steps when editing object properties in the sandbox
Hold Alt to go a step back when editing object properties in the sandbox
Changed default gamepad controls
Less damaged color palettes
Hearts and TNT in custom levels now get correctly saved
Fixed Seed Problems (All Seeds have changed, sorry)
Improved Backup System#- Reduced acceleration
New Spike Art
Retracting Spikes are now only deadly from above and have shorter cooldowns
Tweaked some upgrades and other values
Single spikes are more visible
Fixed invisible obstacle bug
Fire can now destroy grass
Unlocking new game modes is now even easier
Cursor Click Effect
Changed some texts and descriptions
Fixed various other bugs
I also updated all steam store page images
Just try the new version, you will see what changed when you play the game.
And as always: Have fun and enjoy my game(s) ! :)
Update 1.2.1
Time for another update! Update 1.2.1 is here. Probably many of you have already tried the betaversion of the update, therefore you can imagine the changelog. The probably biggest change that you will notice is the new vegetation system! Beautiful new dynamic grass and vines. I really love the new vegetation, but now pretty much all images and videos of Just Get Through are outdated...I will have to look if I can update some of them. At least the screenshots on the steam store page, but I would also like to update the steam backgrounds, but I am not sure if I am allowed to do this. Anyway, this is not important for you. You should take a look at the changelog and then play the game! (There is also a new gamemode, for people who think they are only bad because they don't have luck in the randomly generated levels)
Here is the full changelog:
New vegetation system
Walls have a new not-so-flat topside
New gamemode: Set Run Mode
New object: The slot machine (Coin Mode and sandbox)
Added a gamesettings.ini file in %localappdata%/JustGetThrough where you can tweak some additional settings
Added a new custom level exclusive upgrade: extra walljump
New custom level setting: Unlimited walljumps
You can now change the value of a coin in the sandbox
Some gamemodes are now easier to unlock
New wind sound
Color palette chests spawn completely random now (same seed != same chest location)
You can now destroy vendors and slot machines to get some coins
Some Achievements are now easier to unlock (e.g. Challenge completed will now need level 10 in hardcore mode, Gramp only needs a level > 10, not >25)
Increased chest spawn probability in daily runs
Better Seeded Runs
Improved Pick up messages
Coin pick up messages
Changed some texts
Bloodstains in the main menu (You don't like bloodstains? Disable them in the new gamesettings.ini)
More Items in Hardcore Mode
Added some new color palettes
Added and changed other minor things
Fixed tons of smaller and also bigger bugs
Improved and tweaked a huge amount of stuff
This update really fixes many bugs and problems, the game should run even better now. Please give me feedback and report bugs. Thank you very much.
Btw. I read every single review.
This was the last big update for some time. I still have some minor ideas and there will be some minor updates in the near future, but I want to focus on some new projects now. Therefore I won't be able to make updates like update 1.2. But I think I already did really much for the game, although it's already complete I still added and improved tons of stuff. Thank you all for your support and I hope you will still have a lot of fun with my game.

The full changelog can be found below, although I haven't mentioned every single fix or change because then the changelog would way be too long. What I also did is I made a short update 'trailer' that shows some Update 1.2 gameplay. I couldn't capture all the cool new effects and changes and the new stuff, but I tried my best to make a cool short video that shows that the game changed since I published the last gameplay video.
What are daily runs? - You can start this run once every day. Everyone gets the same seed on this day. The seed changes daily. Because everyone has the same seed, everyone gets the same levels. Now you only have to get as fast as possible as far as you can. At the end a score is calculated and your score gets listed in the steam leaderboard.
Every daily run has its own leaderboard. So every day you get a new chance to be the best.

I hope everything runs smoothly, because I wasn't able to completly test every feature. So if you experience problems, please let me know.
But even if everything runs without problems I would still like to hear your feedback! :)
Last but not least I want to announce that this was probably not the last update. I've already made some new plans for future updates. For example I want to improve some of the new gamemodes with new content, especially the coin run. I love the coin mode. You should definetly try this one.
But also the hardcore mode and of course the daily run.
Okay okay, that's it. Now play the update and fill the new steam leaderboards! You can check them ingame or here: http://steamcommunity.com/stats/338190/leaderboards
The demo gets the new effects and stuff in the near future too. But the full version gets the update first. The new gamemodes are of course exclusive for the full version.

Update 1.1.6
It's time for an update. Update 1.1.6 is not a big one but I still has some new content, important fixes and improvements for you. 1.2 will be a bigger update.
This month I didn't have much time to work on Just Get Through, that's why this update does not bring any big new features.
Alright, here is the changelog:
New Logo/Icon Art (Can take a while until it's visible everywhere)
Added an Ingame Changelog
Added Springs to the sandbox mode (A rotatable, wall-mounted spring and a normal spring, WIP)
Added 7 new color palettes
Adjusted some upgrades (e.g. Gripupgrade/Downgrade, Walldamage)
Changed various texts
Nerfed Rocket Explosions
Improved Performance in big levels
Fans won't blow you away anymore when you stand in them
Fixed 'Jump on a climbing net'-bug
Fixed 'Spawnprotection on start although it was disabled'-bug (affects 1.1.6 levels only)
Fixed 'Can't enable Highscore'-Bug
And changed some other minor things
These changes will also be in the demo version of Just Get Through.
