Just Get Through

Just Get Through Demo + Update 1.1.5

Just Get Through has now a free demo!
If you haven't already bought the game you can now get the demo here.
In this free demo you will be able to play as many runs as you want. But you can't go further than level 20 and also won't be able to enter your highscore in the online highscore. But I think this demo should help you to decide whether you like the gameplay or not. You can also test if the game even runs on your system, before buying it, although the game costs only 5 bucks. Of course you can't unlock steam achievements or earn steam trading cards in the demo.

Anyway, the demo is free and you really should try it if you haven't already bought the game!

Oh, and by the way, with this demo there also comes a small update!

Changelog Update 1.1.5:

  • Added new options for the boulder (e.g. respawns after getting destroyed)
  • It's now possible to connect a pressure plate with a falling wall
  • Changed the Online Highscore Layout a little bit
  • Place pressureplates on boulders and falling walls
  • Fixed fans not starting to rotate
  • Fixed wrong format of helpmessage
  • Fixed some other small bugs
  • Fixed a HUD bug in custom levels
  • Added a Just Get Through demoversion

And if you haven't decided yet whether to buy the game or not. Try the demo!

Just Get Through Update 1.1.4

It's time for a Just Get Through update! Yay! :rarejgt:
And yes, there are still updates coming, although this game is officially counted as finished. This update brings not much new content but finally improves/fixes two major issues.Global custom levels will now load way faster. Up to 80% faster than before. Even old levels will load faster.
So now it's finally possible to make some bigger levels without having to wait minutes until it can be played.I hope this will help to get some more attention on custom levels. I think the sandbox mode and custom levels are great and if you only play the classic game mode you definetly miss something :) The second big issue that was fixed is the huge lag that you experience when you try to load the online highscore. This problem was fixed and the highscore will now load without lag.

With this update you will also get some other improvements and fixes.
Here is the changelog:

  • Global Custom Levels will load way faster
  • The online highscore doesn't lag anymore
  • Added 3 new colorpalettes
  • Changed some particles
  • Changed the way the time is displayed in the leaderboards
  • Changed some trap spawn probabilities
  • Changed/Fixed the jump when freezed after respawning
  • Changed the walljump a little bit (maybe you won't even notice it)
  • Fixed the player isn't freezed after respawning
  • Added the option to use the arrow keys to control the game
  • Added a Gamepad Vibration Slider
  • Added an option to disable/enable the gamepad
  • After playing a custom level you will directly get back to the custom level menu
  • Added a just for fun cinematic mode (type 'cinema')
  • Fixed some button/key names
  • Fixed the + symbol for custom levels (1.1.4+)
  • Improved the performance a little bit
  • Fixed torch lights
  • Switched to a newer game engine version (this could lead to some new bugs, but I think everything works great)

I think that's it.
Alright, now have fun and enjoy the update!
And if you enjoy my game please consider writing a review. This would really help me!

- Jonathan (Retrific)

Oh, and btw. if your savefile get's corrupted with an update (This is not the rule, but who knows). Please report it and don't start the game another time.
Wait for a hotfix and then use a backup of your savefile. (%localappdata%/JustGetThrough)

Update 1.1.3

Hello everybody,
today i present to you: Just Get Through :jgt: Update 1.1.3!
We got many fixes and improvements here, but also some new stuff like more custom level settings, new colorpalettes, upgrade changes, new settings and some changes on the level generator. Take a look at the changelog or just try it yourself and start the game. If you don't own the game yet, then it's time to get it, because actually I would say that the game is finally pretty optimized. It runs smoother then ever and has enough content for hours of fun. You could say the game is finished. But for me a game is never finished, thats why it will still get updates and fixes in the future.
Anyway, enjoy the update!

Changelog:

  • Level Generation changed in that new traps now won't spawn immedietly in a large number but instead when you for example reach level 25 the chance that you find landmines is not immediatly high but instead starts to grow. All in all this makes the game easier in later levels.
  • New Custom Level Settings:
  • - Turn on/off the compass
  • - Enable/Disable sprinting
  • - Change the Scorecalculation type*
  • - Change the Levelcompletion type*
  • Changed the Custom Level Menu Layout a little bit
  • Added a new upgrade:
  • - Reduces the damage on walls that is dealt by trap explosions
  • Added "negative" upgrades for the sandbox like for example "less grip" or "slowdown" (WIP)
  • All upgrades are now also available on the upgrade object in the sandbox
  • Added 2 colorpalettes, and replaced one (Pale)
  • Added a setting to settings: Random colorpalette! Select "Run" to select a new palette with every run you start or "Level" for a new style with every level (It chooses one palette from all your unlocked colorp.)
  • Changed some upgrades
  • - More Checkpoints (now stackable)
  • - Improved compass (now stackable and more effective)
  • - Fixed some language mistakes
  • You can now also use the D(irectional) pad to control the player
  • Changed the way the portal looks
  • Changed some probabiltys
  • You can now jump immediatly after respawning
  • Fixed arrows not getting stuck
  • Fixed ingame pop-ups problems when the screen shakes
  • Fixed colors and style of some pop-ups
  • Fixed and changed several other minor things, or at least I tried

*You can now select from (to this point not so many) other "leveltypes" for you custom level. For example you can select that the goal of your level is not to get as fast as you can to portal but the goal is to survive as long as you can or to select as many coins as you can until you die because of reasons. This should bring even more variety to the custom levels :)
The stats were adjusted to fit this new concept, at least the global stats.
The local stats display is still wip.

That's it pretty much. I hope I didn't skip anything. Anyway,
thanks to everyone who plays, enjoys and reviews my game and also to everyone that helped making this game possible :) You're awesome!

If you love your stats and colorpalettes, make a backup of your settings.ini in %localappdata%/JustGetThrough before launching the game directly after an update. Because maybe there is a savefile-destroying bug that first needs to get fixed.

Enjoy!

New Just Get Through Trailer

Hello everybody,
I just wanted to make a short shoutout for the new Just Get Through trailer that I published today. It's available on Youtube and on the Steam Store Page of JGT.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuCzUH3ArK4

Tell me what you think. I think it's good to have a short and fast trailer that shows some features of the game. It's better than to have only a gameplay video, like it was before (when you ignore the old greenlight trailer)

Also I want to announce the launch of a bugreport thread in the Community Hub Discussions where you can report bugs and mistakes and stuff. So that I have all the reports in one place.

That's it. Now have fun and enjoy Just Get Through. :rarejgt:

Now I can also start working on the next update :)

Important hotfix

Hello,
I'm really sorry but somehow there was a bug in the last update that made it possible to get so overpowered that you are almost invincible because there is enough hp everywhere, and upgrades and tnt.
So I had to make this hotfix which drastically reduces the spawning of HP and TNT in the higher levels. (from level 40 on)
The top 3 scores in the leaderboards were set down a bit so that the scores are beatable again.

I'm sorry.....but I hope everything is fine and balanced now.

Again a hotfix

I'm sorry but I had to do it. In compensation for this hotfix you get 4 new colorpalettes made by Gametrickser himself! (If you don't know him, check out the highscores)

- 4 new colorpalettes
- Doors spawn even less often
- Doors now have their own Stat
- At the end of a custom level you get to see how many coins you had left
- Changed the Sprinting Trail a little bit (it's still not completely bugfree)
- Multiple Upgrades now get shown in the pause menu
- Fixed Weird arrow behavior

It's so sad that you always dont see the bugs until you published your build...

Update 1.1.1

Hello,
almost 4 days have past since I released Just Get Through on Steam.
And now it's already time for the first "bigger" update.

Anyway, here is the changelog:

- Sort levels by rating

- Change ventilator period time
- Added savefile encryption
- new gamepad aiming system
- Changed default gamepad controls (change them in the settings menu)
- One new achievement

If you have additional questions, feel free to ask.

Hotfixes incoming

Maybe you've already seen it but I still wanted to do a short announcement.

I just launched a few small hotfixes that should fix following issues:

- Increased performance in the pause and game-over screen
- New Setting for the speed of the camera when starting a new level, higher value = faster camera)
- Fixed that you have to climb with the jumping-Key instead of W
- Fixed rotating saws saw duplication bug
- Fixed several other small issues

If you find any additional bugs or problems just post them as a comment.

Just Get Through Release

It's happening!

I will release the game in this moment. From now on you will be able to buy my game here on steam for only 5 bucks. I hope you like my little game.
Check back for future updates. There is already plenty of stuff planned.
One big issue with the current version is the long loading time for big custom levels (e.g.the Jumping-Tutorial-Level).
But it works, you just have to wait a bit.
Maybe it's not even that bad because when you have to wait for every level to load you can't just quickly restart the level and "cheat" because the timer resets.
Another thing I would like to add are Steam Trading Cards + Emoticons, background and so on.
Then I would like to add even more sandbox options, traps and stuff.
And last but not least I also plan a Ubuntu Version of this game if I receive enough positive feedback and there a enough people that want to see a Linux-Version.

Whatever, I'm proud to announce the official Steam Release of my game Just Get Through. I hope you have as much fun with this game as I had.
I would be pleased if you write a review about Just Get Through after you played some the game for some time.

With this release there also comes a new huge update with a lot of content, so if you find any bugs please contact me and I will fix them with the next update or hotfix.

Thank you for supporting a new indie game developer from Germany.
