Dev Log #30: Chronicle!

Hello!

[p]Double EXP for new players for 1 month! Read more about it in the devlog! :)[/p][p]I will continue to develop the game, most likely for a very long time. But I will take breaks, this is the 2nd update in a short time and this is a pretty big one. My guess is that the next update after this will be a christmas update where I might introduce new things and systems, who knows. There might be updates earlier but time will tell. Regardless, the game will continue getting updates, that is the point I'm trying to make. There will always be new things to challenge the players. Every suggestion and bug report is valuable as it helps improve the game. And that is what we all want, a fun, challenging game, and on top of that: a great adventure![/p][p]A reminder for those who do not know. There is a NPC below the first starting temple in the first town. Who offers a full stat and skill reset. You can do this once when you start. But you can also do it again after you reborn/seraph each time. It does not stack, but it allows you to play a different character an extra time. Each reborn/seraph already offers you to distribute the stats/skills freely, but you can then reset all that one time for each reborn/seraph, [/p][p]For those really high level, this update brings a total of 45 extra skill point slots that you can put your points into. Previously, a high seraph might not find more useful skills to put points into. But the new additions and buffs to existing skills will make the decision on what to put your points into more interesting and unique.[/p][p]This update also focuses on gold. Playing in a party gives more gold than before, monsters and events are created that further boosts gold. The most expensive upgrade has been made 20% cheaper. There will be more opportunities to become rich now.[/p][p][/p]

Highlights/Features

  • [p]More than 100+ new items added and new monsters/maps added.[/p]
  • [p]All new and current players that have not reborn yet and are below level 70 will have DOUBLE EXP for 1 month starting now. Ends August 12th.[/p]
  • [p]New lategame rooms has been added. One of these is the most difficult room of all time and might not be possible to beat without an enourmous party/team. I know I have been proven wrong before, but I think this one will actually be difficult to deal with. Do not underestimate the boss this time or you may suffer the consequences. This monster drops a new sword, a new quiver and a new scepter.[/p]
  • [p]Star Monsters with 5 stars has been implemented. This is the ultimate champion and the reward can be even stronger than that of the 4 star monsters. It is stronger in all categories but it also has the potential to offer better bonuses than 4 star monsters.[/p]
  • [p]A new class has been added: An intelligence based Paladin. New weapons has been added for this class and they are available as drops and from shops.[/p]
  • [p]Elite Gear is introduced for all current Prime items (armor sets). All monsters that currently drop Prime Gear can now also drop Elite Gear. This means that if the drop is triggered when the monster dies: There is a 70% chance of the item being a Prime, and 30% chance of the item becoming Elite. Elite Gear gives more AC and +1 upgrade level. An Elite part has the same requirement as the Prime part. The Elite drop will however not be visible in the monster drop list. But if the monster can drop for example Leater Helmet Prime, then it can also drop Leather Helmet Elite.[/p]
  • [p]All Robes and Hats now have Prime and Elite drops. All monsters that currently drop normal robes and hats, now have a 30% chance of the gear being Prime, and I 20% chance of the gear being Elite. So 50% of the time the gear will be just normal.[/p]
  • [p]Added 5 new top lists for most unique monsters killed, most monsters killed overall, most killed Gabons, Tjikos etc.[/p]
  • [p]A new waypoint has been setup between island 5 town and island 6 bridge. A NPC has been added to the exit out of the town that offers to teleport you for 30.000gold.[/p]
  • [p]A new Event System has been added. That introduces many new automatic events. The configuration has been set to start a few events each day for each server. The duration and boosts are randomized. Here are some of the available events:[/p]
    • [p]Gems: All monsters killed has a 25% chance to drop XGems![/p]
    • [p]Unidentified: Boosts the chance for items to become Unidentified by XX%![/p]
    • [p]BossGold: Boosts Gold dropped by all Bosses with XX%![/p]
    • [p]CaveGold: Boosts Gold dropped by all Monsters on darker maps with XX%![/p]
    • [p]Colosseum: Boosts EXP by XX% in all Colosseums![/p]
    • [p]BossPets: All bosses has a XX% chance to drop a random pet.[/p]
    • [p]MagicChests: Gives all chests a XX% chance to drop an Event Potion![/p]
    • [p]Resilience: All players are boosted with +XX Resilience! Take the opportunity to fight something you previously was not able to handle.[/p]
    • [p]MonsterGold: All Monsters now give XX% more gold![/p]
    • [p]Tokens: All monsters killed has a XX% chance to drop a Token![/p]

Skill Changes

  • [p]The Untwine skill has received the following buffs: Reduces damage taken from bombs, traps and clouds by 4%/point. +4 Max Stamina per point instead of +2.[/p]
  • [p]The skill Deathblock has been rebalanced: "When a fatal hit occurs, there's a +2% chance per point to fully block it and heal to 100% HP. Lose 2% less EXP on death per point. Heavily prevents your pet from loosing EXP on death. Also grants +8 Max Health per point." Max boosted value has been changed from 40 to 35.[/p]
  • [p]The skill Gold Finder has been buffed and rebalanced: "Each point grants +2.5% chance to find bonus gold from monsters and increases the gold amount. At 5 points, you gain 5–10 extra gold. At 15points, you gain 15-30 gold. Bonus gold also forms a damage-absorbing shield (e.g. 10 gold = 10 damage absorbed). Gained gold stacks on the shield until enough hits and damage drains it. Resets on logout." The gold/shield gained is also shown on the screen so you know when you get extra gold/shield. In order to see the shield drained you need to check the damage indicator from the monster damage, it will show a smaller number when you have the shield compared to when you have no shield active.[/p]
  • [p]Loot Finder has been buffed: "Each point increases your Chest Storage Capacity by 2 slots and +2 Max Stamina. Each point gives +1% item drop chance from monsters. For example, a 1-in-1000 drop becomes 1-in-900 with 10 points. Also boosts chance to get unique skills on +0 items by 1% per point."[/p]
  • [p]The skill Gatherer has been buffed and rebalanced: "Each point gives +2.5% chance to gather more than one resource at a time from housing skills. Each point increases your Chest Storage Capacity by 1 slot. Protects the gatherer by providing 0.25AC/point."[/p]
  • [p]The skill Snare has been buffed with the following effect: "Snare deals 2% of your damage/point, with minimum damage of your amount of points times 2.". So if you have 5 points in snare and 10% of your damage only adds up to 7 damage for example, then you would deal 10 damage instead thanks to the minimum check.[/p]
  • [p]The skill Aura has been buffed: "+10 Max Mana per point.".[/p]
  • [p]The skill Poison has been rebalanced to be percentage based: "Works with all attacks. Poison deals 2% total damage per point, with +1.5% trigger chance/point. Ticks 3 times. Non-lethal to players and monsters. Min damage: Points × 2.". Due to the minimum check, the skill is always at least equal to how it was before. But now it scales upwards with your damage and can become even stronger. The 20str requirement on poison has also been removed.[/p]
  • [p]The skill Trueshot has been rebalanced so it's max boosted amount is now 35 instead of 30 and it's damage dealt is 65% instead of 60%.[/p]
  • [p]You can now put 15 points into Trueshot instead of 10.[/p]
  • [p]You can now put 20 points into Doublehit instead of 10.[/p]
  • [p]You can now put 20 points into Deathblock instead of 15.[/p]
  • [p]You can now put 20 points into Pet Power instead of 15.[/p]
  • [p]You can now put 20 points into Poison instead of 15.[/p]
  • [p]You can now put 20 points into Gatherer instead of 15.[/p]
  • [p]You can now put 30 points into Replenishment instead of 20.[/p]
  • [p]Some other minor changes are also made, check max boosted values from the ingame skills menu (in the top right corner) for example and read on all skills by hovering them on the skills menu (from a tab on the inventory menu).[/p]

Improvements/Additions/Balancing

  • [p]You now get way more gold from monsters when being in party. Before you split the amount of gold the monsters dropped. But now all of you get 70% of the total amouont of gold the monster had. So if the monster had 1000gold, all the party members on the map would get 700gold each. Imagine you are 3 party members, previously you would each get 333gold each from a 1000gold monster, now you would each get 700gold.[/p]
  • [p]The drop rate of charms has been changed from 7 in 2.000.000 to 7 in 500.000. Charms are not overpowered and do take up space in the inventory. So I think this is something that will be more utilized moving forward in updates. This +75% increase in drop should have happened way earlier. But they have been kinda forgotten since their creation more than 15+ years ago I think. It might be lowered further later on but let's start with this.[/p]
  • [p]You now get between 15-30 Gems for each Battle Royale match you win![/p]
  • [p]You now get between 5-10 Gems for each Match Making game you win![/p]
  • [p]The ingame data list has been getting a lot more info. Especially when it comes to Prime and Elite gear.[/p]
  • [p]Boss Event frequency has been increased from app 1 in 3 days to 1 in 2 days.[/p]
  • [p]Upgrading an item to +0 now costs 40.000gold instead of 50.000gold.[/p]
  • [p]Doubled the amount of gold you get from monsters on Colosseum Island 5.[/p]
  • [p]Monsters cast Dispell and Debless less frequently.[/p]
  • [p]The !events command you can type in the chat that displays running events has now been updated to include bossevents and the new eventsystem featureing 10+ events.[/p]
  • [p]When logging in the game will no longer send a message for each of the events running. Instead now it will say: "There are active events running. Type !events in the chat for more info!" Since there are now so many different possible events and types of events.[/p]
  • [p]The !clear command will now also clear the onscreen ingame chat.[/p]
  • [p]Quivers has been slightly buffed.[/p]
  • [p]Some other smaller items has received some small rebalancing.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted the new global loot system from the last update to drop an item by the chance 1 in 2000 instead of 1 in 1000.[/p]
  • [p]Increased the gold some on the two new monsters from last update who had way to much gold and was nerfed.[/p]
  • [p]All daily quest rewards has been buffed.[/p]
  • [p]The point system Reputation has been further utilized in the late game.[/p]
  • [p]The "daily click" to claim the Daily Reward has all been buffed with more rewards.[/p]
  • [p]Map 927 has been made a safezone, it's a very lategame map between some mountains that now offer you to access your storage chest.[/p]
  • [p]Star monsters will now appear 25% more often. A monster spawning had a 1 in 100 chance before, now the chance is 1 in 75 of becomming a star monster. There are so many star monsters now, 1 to 5. So an increase felt needed to allow them to appear and affect the gameplay more.[/p]
  • [p]Colosseum bosses give way more gold on island 5. They will now average between 500-2000gold/player on the colosseum map. If you are 4 players, you can each get 2000gold per boss if super lucky.[/p]
  • [p]Rebalanced some monster spawn times.[/p]
  • [p]More guild rooms has been made available since they can run out if enough players claim them.[/p]
  • [p]Items added to the player market before 2025-01-01 has been removed. There is now currently 334 items in the market.[/p]
  • [p]The boss "Dead Charmer" now drops items more frequently.[/p]

Early Game

  • [p]Some early game items like belts has been made free of requirements.[/p]
  • [p]The starting chest that gives you leggings, now also gives you a wooden stick to fight with.[/p]
  • [p]An extra new chest has been added to the starting tutorial to make it easier for new players.[/p]
  • [p]Some new chests has been added to the first town to make it more fun for new players.[/p]
  • [p]The Vanguard boss on island #1 has received 20% more EXP and has been made slightly easier.[/p]
  • [p]A new shop has been added to the starting temple to help new players with cheap items.[/p]
  • [p]Many more items has been added to the shops on island 1 to make it easier and more fun for new players.[/p]

Dev Log #29: Continuation!

Features / New Content

  • [p]A new drop system is introduced. For every monster you now kill, there is a 1/1000 chance that the monster drops an Unidentified item from a pre-determined list of items that I can add/edit/remove stuff from. All monsters can trigger this special item spawn. This means that all monsters in the game now has loot that you do not know about. And new players can get super lucky and get something that higher level players would want. When this item drops, it will say Special Drop on the screen so that you know you hit the jackpot.[/p]
  • [p]The skill level system has been increased from max level 30 to max level 48![/p]
  • [p]New maps, monsters and bosses added. Especially on the lategame after the finale NPC.[/p]
  • [p]More than 10+ new items has been added.[/p]
  • [p]The item Break Prevention has been added to more monsters/bosses as a drop on island 5.[/p]
  • [p]Colosseum Event potions drop more frequently from all chests.[/p]
  • [p]All Global Colosseum Event potions have been boosted: 15min +20%, 30min +30%, 60min +40%. This should help encourage players to team up and battle in the Colosseum.[/p]

    • [p]Guaranteed unidentified on all items dropped by the monster.[/p]
    • [p]Better unique items that can only be gotten from x4 star monsters. Bonuses given from these monsters has the ability to be the highest if you are lucky. No other drop can give the same.[/p]
    • [p]They are tougher than 3 star-monsters.[/p]

  • [p]You can now equip 2 of the same ring. Before you where required to have 2 different rings equipped.[/p]
  • [p]The base storage size in chests has been increased to 35 items. If you had purchased more storage before, then you get these extra 5 storage as well.[/p]
  • [p]Lore Seeker Lenny on i5 has his name above him now so he is easier to find.[/p]
  • [p]The player bonus "Reputation" is now further utilized.[/p]
  • [p]Server activity from the development servers will also be shared in the server activity window.[/p]

  • [p]Most spell durations have been increased so you do not need to buff yourself as often.[/p]

  • [p]The monster abilities Bombs and Clouds now deal less damage.[/p]

  • [p]Colosseum monster minimum damage has been changed from 1 to random between 1-3.[/p]

Dev Log #28: Surge

Features
* The NPC who resets your stats and skill points will now offer a reset everytime you reborn. So if you use it and then reborn, you will get it back. Skipping to reset and seraphing will not give you an additional one next time. It's always max 1 and then you need to reborn to get it back.
* Assassins will now be able to wear a shield together with their throwing stars. The shield will not be shown on the attack animation as the assassin puts it aside when throwing.
* Global Colosseum Event potions added to the game. Currently only available to get from chests (all ingame chest has chance to give them) and a few monsters. This boost also works together with normal exp potions and global exp events, so they all stack. There are 3 tiers:
  • Tier 1: Duration 15minutes +10%EXP in Colosseum.
  • Tier 2: Duration 30minutes +20%EXP in Colosseum.
  • Tier 3: Duration 60minutes +30%EXP in Colosseum.

* Two new bosses has been added. There was previously 2 monsters on the monster in game list that did not exist. Now they do (found on on all islands).
* A new area has been added on i6 below the Frosty Meadowdeller, with a new boss.

Improvements
* New setting added to the petbook menu. You can now disable showing the evolution, doing so will show the first evolution of the pet only (the one after the egg is hatched).
* You can no longer trash gold.
* Replaced multishot skill on 2 bows to other skills. Because some players dont like to have multishot.
* Monster Everdale now has incerased drop rate on quest items.
* Pet exp bar will be hidden by default, and only show when the pet has gained some exp and then show for 3 sec. So if the pet is always attacking it will always be shown. But when he goes out of combat the bar will hide.
* You can now identify items on island 3 town.
* You can now click on the text on the Server Select page that says "Want to host a Server? Check Steam Tools or click here!" to navigate to more info.
* Island 4 spawn point and identify has info marker so you easier find them.
* The text below the language select telling you, you can help with languages, now navigates you to the community upon clicked.
* The music player handling sound effects and background music now supports decimal volumes. So you can put it at the right spot that suits you.
* Caves and areas to explore on island 1,2,3 has been given a few more bosses so going down caves is more profitable.

Balancing
* If you are x2 or above, you can now walk past the i3 castle towards the harbour and sail to i4 immedietly. This means that if you are x2 or above, it will no longer require level 50 to reach island 4. You can also travel by ship to i4 if you are above level 35 and above or equal to x2.
* Monsters on island 6 can now drop quest items from the island 5 area, to make it easier to spawn the bosses that require those items.
* Automatic systems that can jail a player for what appears to be wrongfull behaviour has been made more lenient.
* Info regarding the 3 server changes below: Your character can jump between the servers. So if you create your character on EU, you can at any time login to the US with the same character.
* Exp on the official servers has been permanently increased accordingly (this is an overall 10% buff):
  • EU Server (PVP): From 1.1 to 1.2
  • US Server (PVE): From 1.0 to 1.1

* Gold on the official servers has been permanently increased accordingly (this is an overall 10-20% buff):
  • EU Server (PVP): From 1.0 to 1.2
  • US Server (PVE): From 1.0 to 1.1

* Loot on the official servers has been permanently increased accordingly (this is an overall 10-20% buff):
  • EU Server (PVP): From 1.0 to 1.2
  • US Server (PVE): From 1.0 to 1.1

* Entity Plasma has been made easier to get on island 5.

Fixes
* Fixed the experience gain craft (costs 10tokens and 1 emerald). It now gives what the description says.
* Fixed so armor penetration shows the correct value when proc. It only showed half the actual damage increase it actually did. So if the monster has 10AC, the AC is ignored and added to your damage. It previously showed 10dmg, but the change is actually 20 in that case so now it will show 20.
* Both servers now run on the same server time in UTC. So weekend events will line up in sync. Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the primary time standard globally used to regulate clocks and time. The game client shows the weekend events based on the client clock, so you will need to manually convert your time to UTC to know exactly when the weekend event starts. As they start when the clock enters a new day on for example saturday.
* Fixed monster 'The Gabon' drop issue.
* Fixed mapping issues on map 846.
* Monsters not killable has been removed from the monster list (the place you see what monsters you have killed).

Performance
* The map with the reaper boss will no longer be laggy.
* The chat window will now clear older messages to avoid lag.
* Optimized startup so it's no longer handling the release timer countdown.

Dev Log #27: Livability

Features/Additions
* Exp boost extended to 2025-03-31. (All new/old characters that has not reborn (are mortal/x0) will have exp boost x2 until level 70! All characters that are or will be x1 seraph, will always have 50% more exp until level 70! Characters at or above x2 reborn/seraph, will not have any boost)
* Added a waypoint from island 5 town (near the entrance to the giant forest), costs 5k gold and teleports you to the bridge.
* Added the item 'Token' to be a global drop: 1 in 1000 monsters killed.
* Added a potion shop to island 5 ocean (potions are more expensive here).
* You can now connect to a server based on IP. So dedicated servers hosted by other players can be set to hidden. And you can now join that server by IP and play with your friends or just in secret if you so wish. The game now has a full dedicated server implementation with vast scripting potential.

Improvements
* The split arrows from Multishot now deals 75% damage instead of 25%.
* The split arrows from multishot will not trigger and use up your archer abilities.
* Registering to a battle royale match now posts to server activity in the discord.
* Rare loot (+0) will no longer be able to give the following buffs: farming, fishing, mining, wood cutting, cooking.
* A weapon that becomes rare loot (+0) will no longer be able to give the skill gatherer.

Balancing
* Increased chance for item upgrades to succeed. Changed from 50% chance of succeeding to 75% chance of succeeding. (So now a 25% chance of fail/break).
* Island 5 quest item drops increased a lot. It's now much easier to gather the requirements for Primeval Ember, Primeval Horn and Primeval Peridot. Done to increase encouragement to spawn the unique bosses and make it easier to do the quest and still chose to reborn afterwards.
* Travelling by the ship to i2 and i3 now requires less level for seraphs (reborn players). For each reborn it requires 5 less levels to a maximum of 15 levels lower requirement. This means a x3 player can get to i2 on level 5 and i3 on level 20.
* Lowered requirement from level 100 to 85 for the passage east on island 6.
* Islang 5 magical chest scroll is now much easier to get.
* Lowered the price of many items in island 5 shops.
* Wood cutting axe now gives +1 replenishment instead of +2 mining.

Fixes/Performance
* Fixed issue where upgrading an item didn't actually set the rarity level. So the correct color effect was not shown nor did it show the correct name for the rarity.
* Fixed archer and warrior abilities (shimmering, lightning etc..). They did much less damage than they where supposed to.
* The visual glitch with last 2 player improvement crafts. (You had to close and reopen the crafting menu to trigger the refresh before.)
* Fixed 'quest 4' text saying you get 2 skill points when you actually get 1.
* Heavily improved the information given to user to help resolve graphic issues.
* Improved error issue where you have problems with graphic drivers.
* Fixed party exp issue.
* Implemented a new packet safety system.

Patch #5

New Changes
* Almost all Rings, Amulets and Capes are now free from requirements.
* You can no longer trash gold from the inventory.
* Adjusted farming formula so it's slighter less chance for things to be rotten when collected. Your level in farming also helps a lot more towards things not being rotten. So gather those exp points!
* Multishot has been improved by narrowing the spread of the arrows.

Fixes
* Fixed so you can not move spell in spellbar to reset cooldown.
* Fixed so you can deposit 40 items into the chest instead of 30.
* Fixed so ring of royale and amulet of royale are visible in the flag menu.
* Fixed Raiders Fishing Rod and buffed it.

Patch #4: Increased EXP and Improvements!

Balancing
* Until February 15th, the following is active: All new/old characters that have not seraphed (are mortal/x0) will have exp boost x2 until level 70! All characters that are x1 seraph, will always have 50% more exp until level 70! Characters at or above x2 reborn/seraph, will not have any boost.
* Island 2 and island 3 exp increased.
* Pet damage has been increased.
* All bows now shoot the same distance.
* Assassin range is increased and all assassin weapons shoot the same distance.
* Dogs, chicken, cat are now kill'able and they all drops pets.
* Experience from all Vanguards are increased (1 unique raid that exist on all islands).
* Rebalanced some stuff.

Improvements
* Will send player join events cross server.* Buff spells active on yourself will sort itself so it shows the one with the lowest time at the top.
* Buff spells active on yourself should no longer shake when walking.
* Improved reborn buttons so they can be clicked even if windows font zoom is wrong.
* Removed NPC spawn RNG since you can now see then they spawn upon entering the map.
* Monster list is now sorted alphabetically.

Fixes
* Fixed so market items show the unique boosts such as damage percentage etc..
* Fixed so you can apply +1 skill point to an item through item upgrades.
* Fixed an issue with party accept.
* Fixed issue where level text did not update when leveling up.
* Fixed issue where defence percentage was always active if you had the item in your inventory.

Patch #3: Fixes and improvements! Faster Exp!

* Fixed island 1 quest text for first key text.
* Fixed a guildname issue causing login issues.
* Fixed issue with many unique weapons not displaying the correct graphics.
* Fixed a packet issue causing damage.
* Fixed so discord messages dont stop sending.

* Boosted exp on island 1 and some bosses on island 2.
* Added a new Shadow Ban system. Where players can be shadow banned instead of permanently banned. Will result in the player not being visible on the leaderboards, get slightly less loot, gold and exp. And they can not attack other players unless it's in the arena (even on pvp server).

Patch #1

A new quick patch has been made that will focus on some fixes and bringing some improved balance to the game without affecting too much. Some stuff has been lowered and in compensation some stuff has been increased. Overall solo exp will have received a buff early game.

Fixes
* Fixed an issue with deathblock.
* Fixed US server so it's safe and only PVE.
Balancing
* Monster exp on island 1,2 and 3 has been slightly increased.
* Slightly lower exp in colosseums.
* Changed swapping server exp for 15minutes from 75% to 50%.
* The extra exp from being in a party has been lowered from 110% to 75%.
* Fixed so all equipped items for sure becomes unequipped when seraphing (rebirth).
