Sadly, we are setting the sun on KQB. This was not an easy decision - the Liquid Bit Team worked very hard to bring Killer Queen Black to five platforms and are proud of our successes. In addition, we worked beyond our capacity to migrate to a new vendor following the shutdown of GameSparks, however, it proved to be too much for our little game and tiny indie team.

Welcome, NEW-bees!
Let’s play Killer Queen Black! KQB is a multiplayer game that can be overwhelming at first. Don’t worry, in addition to some quick tips below, the KQB community is a great resource for learning more about gameplay and strategy. There’s even a fan-run Discord where it’s easy to find games, teams, and organized league play. Make sure to connect with the Bee Game League community.
Step #1: Take Advantage of Steam’s Summer Sale!
You’ve fired up KQB…here’s where to start
- The Tutorial. From the Main Menu > Local > Tutorial.
- Learn about the roles you can play, basic movements, and a little bit of strategy. You can even beat your bests for a personal challenge.
Step #2: Learn the Basics
KQB in a nutshell
- Modes of play explained.
- There are eight different maps that can be selected at random or you can choose which are in the rotation. Learn more about maps and on the community wiki page.
- Queens, don't forget to tag those gates.
- Enable crossplay: KQB is available for Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
- Watch previously played games on KQBTV, accessible from the main menu.
- Teamwork is key. Use in-game voice chat or alerts to direct your team towards the best outcome.
Three Paths to Victory
Economy - Collect berries and get them into the holes before the other team completes any victory path. Berry piles are located throughout the map and do not regenerate.
Military - Kill the Queen three times - this can be achieved with your upgraded workers or with your Queen. There are four unique weapons to use, sword, morning star, laser, and stinger.
Snail - Ride Winston (or whatever you’d like to name them) through your team’s goal for a victory - perhaps the most satisfying, arguably the easiest.
Step #3: Work Your Way to Ranked Play
You know the feeling - you’re new, you get in a game, get your butt kicked, and never play again. Let’s not let that happen! KQB's core player base is really good and they want you to be good too! A good path to ranked is outlined below:
- Tutorial, tutorial, tutorial - yes, we already said this. Keep visiting the modules, try new things!
- Play with BOTS, play with friends, and join an online Quickplay game! Getting to communicate with others in a casual play setting will help you recognize the importance of each character and how to work together to achieve the best path to victory as a team.
- Ranked - Let's GO! Ranked play can be intimidating. Who cares!? You’re learning. Keep your eye on the #Looking-to-Play channels in KQB and BGL Discords and work your way up to the Obsidian level! We bee-lieve in YOU!

Killer Queen Black Announces Rank Reset Dates for 2022
LET'S GO! KQB Spring Break Rank Reset happens this Tuesday!
Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 9:30 am pt, we will begin the process of Rank Reset for Killer Queen Black. The game will be offline while we push the reset across all five platforms. You will be able to play locally at that time.
The Liquid Bit Team will keep you posted in our Discord #general channel along with Tweets from @killerqueenblk throughout the day.
We are confident that KQB will be back up and running and ready for the community-run Tuesday Night Ranked Stacks. Shout out to Discord Mod, sklover, and the BGL crew for running this regular event.
What is Ranked Stacks?
Ranked Stacks provides a way for teams to get practice. Whether you are on the new Beer Game League or participating in the BGL's Gold Season, Ranked Stacks is a great place to test your skills and improve your team communication.
Not in a KQB league? No problem! Ranked Stacks is for you too! KQB's robust and diverse community is here to help you find teammates and get acclimated to the game. Everyone is encouraged to play ranked games at all times, no matter your skill level, but Tuesday Nights will be HOT, HOT, HOT!

KILLER QUEEN BLACK RANK RESET AUTUMN 2021
KILLER QUEEN BLACK RANK RESET AUTUMN 2021
In February of 2021, the Liquid Bit team pushed out the first rank reset and MMR update since Killer Queen Black’s launch in 2019.
We are excited to announce that the second-ever rank reset will be taking place on Monday, Nov 22, 2021, starting at 9 am pacific time.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
We’re expecting that online play will be down for at least 3 hours. When play is resumed, your rank will be reset and you’ll be fighting for your hive to get that obsidian icon by your username once again.

MODIFICATIONS TO THE MOST RECENT ALGORITHM
The current revision of the ranked point distribution was roughly done in 2 phases:
1. Determine which team was expected to win and use this to determine points won/loss between teams.
2. Distribute these point gains/losses amongst team members.
Step 2 looked at the role (Queen always got a swing of won/lost points more than a Worker) and MMR (your skill from highest to lowest would influence your gain/loss respectively). Based on community feedback, player base, and what we can reasonably accomplish, we have changed step 2.
Starting Monday, November 22, 2021, we will evenly distribute gains/losses amongst the teams in step 2. The team expected to win will still determine points lost/gained. However, every member on the same team will receive the same gain/loss from the amount in step 1.
The algorithm will no longer factor in who was playing Queen or an individual’s MMR. For example, if Gold gains 40pts and Blue loses 40pts, Gold team members gain 10 each and Blue team members lose 10 each.
LET’S GO!
We believe this update is an improvement to the point distribution for all players and will not introduce any unfairness. Based on feedback, we look forward to scheduling regular rank resets, tweaking as needed, and celebrating our leaderboards!
