New Player Improvements!

With this release we've focused on making the campaign more enjoyable for new players and made it easier for all players to get cards from our early expansions.

New Player Improvements

We've reviewed the campaign and improved the quality of cards that are awarded from completing campaign nodes significantly. For example, on one node we changed the prize card from the uncommon, little used "Mill" rune word to the rare, sideboard staple "Silence". We've also included three Epic rarity cards in the rewards to give new players an extra boost when leaving the campaign for the Arena or Guilds.

Additionally we've added the "Reward" pack above to all nodes that didn't award a specific card. This will give you a random card from any set from Core to Descent into Darkness. Now every play through the campaign is different.

Finally, we've increased the chance that a Gem will drop from a completed node - new players will see a whole lot more of them!

More Gold!

Players of all rankings can now get even more gold from the Arena. Make up to 15,000 Gold per quest cycle!

Price Improvements

The pack prices of Eve, Rise and Tribes have been reduced for both Gems and Gold. Packs purchased with Gems now have a higher chance of getting an Epic and now include guaranteed Essence for crafting, but otherwise are the same.

Tribes singles can now be found in the hourly card sales as well. This is the first time that great cards like Fury Stoker and Raging Vines can be purchased for gold (if you watch for them).

New Bundle!

The Summoner's Gambit bundle is now available! For just $10 you get 150 Gems and a copy of the Summoner's Gambit prize card. Once unlocked you'll be able to buy copies 2-4 from the "Rewards" section of the Store.

This new bundle replaces the old Bard bundle. If you didn't get that bundle, don't worry, we will switch it back every so often.

Enjoy and we'll see you on the battlefield!

Tribes Two Bundles on Sale!

Starting this weekend (June 13th), the popular Tribes Two bundles are making they're first reappearance in over a year!

Get one of each Tribes Two cards in a specific Kingdom (one Epic, 3 rares) - a 165 Gem value - plus 50 Gems for just $10. Your cards will even receive LE etched text to stand out while playing.

The kingdom rotation will be as follows:

Alchemy: June 13-17 (includes Scavenging Goblin shown above!)
Ancient: June 18-22
Undead: June 23-27
Holy: June 28-July 2
Elemental: July 3-7
Mystical: July 8-12
Unaligned: July 13-17

Enjoy!

Community Tournament #2: Singleton! Join Now!

Want to get in on a fun, quick tournament with great prizes?

Join our 2nd Community Tournament. This time the format is Singleton - just one of any card is allowed.

We've also added the rule of no Legendary cards to make the tournament fair for new players and old.

Any player who joins and plays will be awarded a minimum of 10 gems! The top 2 players will win Epic cards of their choice.

As well, we'll be giving out VIP points to any player who posts their matches to YouTube. That's right - VIP points for free.

The tournament will begin on this Saturday, May 16th, at 2 pm EST. All matches will be run in the Skirmish room and be a best 2 out of 3 (no sideboarding).

Good luck and have fun!

Release Notes May 8: Numerous Fixes

Today we released a small but significant update to the game to fix a number of issues that appeared in our last release. We take issues with the game seriously and aim to fix them as quickly as possible.

Updates and Fixes:

1) The lag issue should be fixed with this release. One of the changes made to allow for packs to be awarded at the end of the season and opened when you log in caused a number of issues, the worst of which was lag on prolonged play sessions. We believe that this has been fixed, but do continue to let us know if you're having issues in the forums.

2) The Dynamic Card Cache error was caused by the issue above and should be fixed as well.

3) The Turret tokens created by Deploy Cannons are now properly labelled tokens and will not go to the discard pile when destroyed.

4) The Demon Tokens created by T'rror, Cleric tokens created and Guide of the Way, Zombies from Endless Evil and Child of Euna token are all properly labelled Tokens and can no longer be Swapped.

5) The Arena no longer shows hours left, unless there is less than 48 hours to go. Seeing 300+ hours just looked messy.

6) We have fixed the display of the Beginner's Arena's ladder. It had been showing prizes, which the Beginner Arena will not be awarding as it isn't a Live PVP ladder. Please note that we are currently discussing replacing the Beginner's Arena with a new format that is more new player friendly.

7) We've relabelled the "Campaign" to the "Training Grounds" to make it more clear to new players that this is just the beginning of the game. We will be making additional changes to the Training Grounds over the next month.

8) Numerous little copy fixed and changes based on feedback from the community. Thanks!

Meta Report

If you are playing in the Arena - and you should be, look at those prizes - you will want to check out our first Meta Report over in the Official Forums. We will be updating these weekly, with the top 5 heroes and top 10 cards played in each ladder.

Release 3.7: Descent into Darkness is here, and big Arena news

We're proud to announce the release of Descent into Darkness, available in the shop now!

All of the new cards can be viewed in your collection, and of course are legal to play as soon as you have them.

There are no new abilities in this set, though you will see our first creature that has Indestructible inherently: Realm Champion.

Tournament Prize Packs

All paid tournaments now pay out Tournament Prize Packs instead of regular boosters. Prize Packs contain all booster expansion cards from Eve to Descent into Darkness. So whether you're new to the game or an old pro, there will be the potential for cards you need in every pack. And yes, this does mean that you can win Descent cards starting today.

The New PVP Arena

While the Arena doesn't look very different, it will now provide a whole new way to play Kingdoms. Starting today anyone who plays in the Arena will be part of our new PVP Ladder Season Play.

Seasons are currently set to 25 days, with prizes awarded at the end of the season for both the Limited Ladder and the Standard Ladder. To prepare for this new season, all ladders have been reset. You will be starting at 1500.

The prizes are, based on your final Ladder rank:

1st: 10-Pack of Descent, 100 Gems, Monthly Premium Card x 4
2nd:10-Pack of Descent, 80 Gems, Monthly Premium Card x2
3rd-20th: 5 Packs of Descent, 50 Gems, Monthly Premium Card
21st-50th: 3 Packs of Descent, 30 Gems
51st-100th:2 Packs of Descent, 20 Gems
101+: 1 Pack of Descent, 10 Gems

To be eligible for prizes you must have played a minimum of 20 Live PVP battles during the Season.

This season's premium card is:

Summoner's Gambit
Epic Unaligned Spell
Cost: 3
Summon a creature of rarity Rare or greater into target ally slot.

(Note that this doesn't say "from your deck". It can summon a creature you don't even own!)

Note that only Live PVP battles will affect your Ladder score in these two arenas. You can still play the AI to complete your daily quests, but your Ladder score will not be affected.

We hope that this will usher in a new era of Live PVP play in Kingdoms - the best way to play!

Balance Changes

We have made one balance change in this release.

Dreadful Return has had its mana cost raised from 2 to 3.

This has been a ferociously debated card, and many players have argued that it does far too much for its low cost. We agree, but instead of harshly limiting the card's function, we've decided to simply give it a bump up, and most importantly take it out of Scroll Maker range

Release 3.5 Patch Notes

With this week's release, we have made the following changes and updates to Kingdoms CCG:

  • New, better starting decks for new players - now with 4 rares!
  • Reduced singles prices for all Gem priced commons, uncommons, rares, and Legendaries. See our recent blog post for more information on Epic card prices.
  • AI Fix: Fliers will no longer set themselves to defend against non-fliers.
Revised the deck building rules to the Kingdoms format to make it more new player friendly. Rules have been added to deck builder. See below for more details.
  • The Draft format has been removed from the free tournaments. In its place we've added Pauper and Kingdoms constructed, and Tribes Sealed.
  • Nomad, Ichor, Thania and Devroth will now appear as rotating heroes and will appear in Arena quests.
  • Nomad's gold cost has been reduced to 70,000.

Balancing Fixes:

  • Quickdraw Cannon will now destroy itself if it triggers 5 times on a single turn. Note: Each QDC has its own trigger count.
  • Gift of the Mystics now only affects the next 4 cards you play.
  • Elder's Hammer can now target any Alchemy creature or 'Construct' creature
  • Morningstar of the Ages has been reduced in cost to 3.
  • Scroll Maker has been reduced to Manacycle 1
  • Skullcrusher Giant now only removes 2 charges when attacking.
  • Manacycle Wizard has been given Allegiant back. Note: She will never, ever, ever be getting her card draw back.

Known Issue: Mind Over Body has a known bug. If played in a discard with spells, it will recur the spells, but NOT place creatures into the discard pile. It WILL place creatures into an empty discard pile. We have fixed this issue on our development environment. The fix will be out in our next release.

New Kingdoms Constructed Format

The new Kingdoms Constructed format has been designed with new players in mind. Our research has shown that new players like to build decks around the cards of a single Kingdom and often assume that is how the game works. We also recognize that getting 4 of a single card can be challenging for a new player, so we've also reduced the number of copies of any single card in the format as well. The new rules for the Kingdoms format are this:

  • 40-60 card deck
  • Maximum 12 rares and 3 Epics
  • No Legendary rarity cards allowed
  • Maximum of 3 copies of any single card.
  • ALL cards in the deck must be either Unaligned or belong to the Kingdom of your chosen hero.

The Kingdoms Constructed Format will now appear in free tournaments.

Gem Sale! All Gem Packs 20-25% Off

From March 23-29 all Gem Packs have been reduced in price by 20-25%. If you've been waiting to get that key card for your deck, now is the perfect time to pick them up (and Legendary singles have dropped 100 Gems in price as well).

You will still receive full VIP credit for your gem purchases.

Don't miss out!

Release 3.4 is Live!: New Heroes!!!

The new heroes of Euna have arrived!

All of the changes is today's release:

1) New Heroes Added: Thania, Devroth and Ichor have been added to the game. They are currently available in the Shop for 90,000 Gold or 69 Gems.

Note about the new heroes: This is the first time that completely new heroes have been added to the game in years. The heroes were tested by a number of your fellow players on a Beta Server prior to release. Thanks to these testers, we feel that the balance of these new heroes is largely correct. The only debate was with Devroth's ability "Exile from Battle". Some players felt it was fine at the current 6, while other felt it should be moved to 7. This ability will be watched and a change will be made if the results show that it is necessary. A big thanks to all of the Beta testers for their help.

2) The ability Recycle is no longer random. Upon death a creature with Recycle will grant its Hero charges equal to its Recycle value.

3) With this new definition of Recycle, Enigma of the Unknown now has a Recycle value of 2.

4) We've added a special offer for the month of March: the Epic Pack. This pack contains exactly 3 cards, each of which is an EPIC (Purple) card. The Epics are taken from Eve, Rise, Tribes and Light Ascending - you will NOT receive any Core Epics in these packs. Each pack also comes with a guaranteed crafting stone and a good amount of essence. Note that if you purchase this pack from the front screen you will not see the pack animation but your cards WILL be awarded (you will get a message "The item has been added to your account instead").

5) Zero energy costs nodes no longer pay out gold for a loss. Nodes with an energy cost will pay out as they always have.

6) Numerous security enhancements have been made to the game to keep your battles secure and fair.

7) An achievement has been added for completing your collection of Light Ascending.

Stay tuned as later this week we will be announcing what we have planned next!

Cheers!
