Demo v1.0.0 Hotfix 2

VR Improvements!

We've just posted hotfix 2 for the Klepto demo! This update is focused entirely on Vive improvements and adding motion controller support. We've added our initial VR hands implementation as well as our comfort movement system. In addition to these features we've optimized the vive experience and on our gtx 980 we have been running at a smooth 90fps.

There's still lots more to do for our vive motion controls. Lockpicking controls still need to be setup as well as mobile tablet touch controls. Comfort mode travel animations are still unfinished as well. Additional demo updates will be on the way as we polish up these areas.

Welcome back to Klepto and our monthly development blog update!

The recent release of our demo has caused a bit of controversy. Some may think that we put our demo out too early, but we wanted that early feedback to make sure we were going down the right road. We definitely want to give a BIG THANKS to the community for their initial feedback, harsh though some of it may have been. We do take ALL feedback seriously – as an example, we’ve revamped our Vive controls based on user feedback. We want to assure everyone that we’ll be updating the Klepto demo with new fixes and features as we progress, so please keep that feedback coming!

We’re getting ever closer to Early Access release, although our release timeline has been pushed back a few weeks to give us more time to finish things up. We’re currently targeting the end of May. Please be patient… Klepto is on its way!


VR Improvements



- Our electrician has changed out the light bulbs on our tutorial level resulting is a more optimized and better lit experience.

- We’ve added an optional “comfort travel system” in VR for those who are more easily affected by VR-induced motion sickness.



- We’ve re-worked the motion controls and have added visible VR hands.

- You can now rummage through drawers and break windows all with the motion controls. We’ll be adding full tablet touch control next.

- A second demo hotfix is coming soon with VR updates.


0.0.4 Beta and Early Access Progress



- Matt is hip-deep in the new mission system. More on that coming soon…



- Preparations for multiplayer continue. We are redesigning the multiplayer lobby and are working on some client/server replication issues.

- We’ve made TONS of progress on Murkly Meadows! Kershaw Drive houses are complete and work on other streets has been started. New residents need to be moved in, but houses are furnished and are ready to be explored.



- Fragbound Farms is well underway and houses are being staged.

Demo v1.0.0 Hotfix 1

Thanks very much to the community that identified some initial issues with our demo! We have been able to take care of several of these issues with a new hotfix. We've just posted the hotfix and your steam clients should grab it on your next login.

Fixed:

-tablet toggle
-ceiling and elevator collision
-music volume now lowers during safe cracking
-added loading/intro screen during initial load so users aren't staring at a black screen
-comfort mode can only be activated when a HMD is detected
-updated unreal engine to 4.11.2

We are still working on improving our VR controls based on user feedback. We'll be implementing VR hands instead of a full body mesh as well as setting up an optional look and click movement system for additional comfort. As soon as these features are ready we'll include them in our next patch!
