Post-Launch Updates Round-up

Welcome back, brave knights!



Since our release in October 2023 we have continued to update Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur adding new updates and quality of life improvements. With that in mind, we have prepared a post-release updates round-up video to share with you all the changes that have been made and features which were added to the game in the past few months.

Most importantly, we'd like to thank you for your support and for playing our game since its release last year. We hope you have enjoyed these updates!


You can find a breakdown of all the recently added updates below:


  • Unlocking new knight statues is now easier! New knight statues and their associated weapons and skills are now linked to kingdom level. As long as you have Amerthryst and the required kingdom level, you’ll always find the associated Knight’s memento during a run.

  • Morgana's Blessings and Curses now come in pairs! You can see the effects of these pairings before they choose whether or not to accept Morgana’s offer. The new combinations also change gameplay more dramatically, offsetting greater benefits with higher but more appropriately calculated risks.

  • Challenging Elite enemies have been added! These tougher variants of common minions are equipped with two HP bars as well as deadly attack patterns and cannot be staggered or knocked away.

  • Harness the power of the runes! Dropped by slain elite minions, mini-bosses and giants, these powerful new items grant Arthur temporary stat buffs.

  • Discover 12 new knight blessings! You can now experiment with additional active and passive blessings such as the Watchful Wisp, Burning Aura, and Thunderous Cannon!

  • Assam's shop gains 10 new items! Visit the merchant, Assam, during your run to discover new wares like the Dextrous Cape, or the Arcane Bangle.

  • Customise your experience with the gameplay modifier! Once rescued, you can now visit the Jester at Castle Camelot to tweak your gameplay parameters and truly customise your experience.

  • Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur is now also Steam deck verified!

Update 1.0.7: Gameplay Modifier

Good news everyone!



We are back with another exciting content update for Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur! In this update, we have implemented gameplay modifiers that allow you to deeply customize the level of challenge you'll experience during runs.

This new feature will unlock after you have recruited the Jester to your kingdom and will trigger either when you head into a dungeon, or when you talk to the Jester in the kingdom. The modifier settings will remain unchanged unless altered, meaning they will not reset once you return from your run.



Each active modifier will progress the bar by 1 node, with bonus coins and giant crystals available for every 5 nodes (+125%, +150%, +200%). The more challenging your runs, the higher the amount of coins and crystals that will drop once an area has been cleared.

We have listed all gameplay modifiers and their values below:

  • Enemy HP (100%, 150%, 200%) - increases the HP of enemies
  • Enemy Damage (100%, 150%, 200%) - increases the damage dealt by enemies
  • Enemy Count (100%, 150%, 200%) - increases the amount of enemies spawned (not including mini-bosses and giants)
  • Additional Elite Enemies (Normal, +1, +2) - increases the amount of Elite Enemies in the first wave of each room
  • Arthur Max HP (100%, 75%, 50%) - reduces Arthur's max HP
  • Disable Active Skill Slots (none, 1 slot, 2 slots) - reduces the amount of Active Skill Slots
  • Merchant item Prices (100%, 150%, 200%) - increases the price of items sold by the traveling merchant
  • Disable Runes Drop - no runes will be dropped

Improvements & bug fixes:

  • Fixed Bors' secondary skill (Slicing Orbit) knives always dealing critical damage for each of knife
  • Fixed roll/dodge length becoming shorter after attacking or getting damaged
  • Increased the spawn chance and amount of potions
  • Tristan's secondary skill (Thousand Blossom Slash) now always hits 3 times even if there's only 1 enemy left

v1.0.6 New Knight Blessings & Assam's Shop Items

Welcome back, fellow knights,



We come bearing exciting news! Today we released yet another update for Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur, including powerful new Knight Blessings and items in Assam’s Shop, as well as general balancing changes and bug fixes!

New Knight Blessings

Discover twelve knightly blessings that introduce some fun new mechanics to your runs!

Experiment with active skills such as Watchful Wisp which summons an ethereal companion to auto-attack enemies in sight for a short period of time, and Thunderous Cannon which calls forth a blazing ball of lightning that stuns enemies upon impact!



New passive blessings include Overcharge which spawns pools of electricity around defeated enemies, and Burning Aura, which inflicts slow burn damage to enemies close to Arthur!



New Wares at Assam’s Store

The next time you meet Assam during a run, make sure to stop and browse his shop for new wares! Purchase the Dextrous Cape to guarantee a critical hit after Arthur suffers damage or treat yourself to the Arcane Bangle which reduce your secondary skill cooldown after a successful dodge.

Update 1.0.5: The Power of the Runes

Welcome back, knights!



We hope you have enjoyed playing Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur so far. Have you slain its many giants yet, or did you get slain? Whichever way your quest went, we come bearing some good news!

Today, we're releasing the new content update 1.0.5 that adds another feature to help you triumph in your adventures: Runes!

Runic powers

Runes come in the form of small stones that drop after you slay powerful enemies, such as mini bosses and giants. You may also come across them while clearing a crystal room, or when taking down the elite enemies added in the previous patch.

Should you choose to pick up a rune, they will bestow an upgrade upon Arthur's stats, such as his HP or movement speed, granting you better chances of surviving your battles against fearsome foes!

Make your choice

Sometimes, runes will drop in a group of two, or even three. It's up to you to choose the rune that fits your battle plans best. Should you go for more critical damage, or perhaps go for strengthening your sword attack? It's up to you to make the most out of the runes at hand.

Update 1.0.5

New Feature:

  • Implemented the new Runes mechanic
  • Runes are collectible items that will occasionally drop after the player defeats certain enemies or clears certain rooms
  • Runes have various effects that will temporarily increase Arthur's stats while inside the dungeon

Improvements & Balancing:

  • Improved minion AI behaviour
  • Displayed minion stagger bar below their health bar (minions can now be staggered after filling their stagger bars with attacks and certain skills)
  • Minor performance improvement
  • Added more elite enemy attack patterns
