Update 1.0.4: Morgana's Blessings and Curses & Elite Enemies
Welcome back, knights!
It’s been almost a month since the release of Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur and we hope you’ve been enjoying your adventures with King Arthur, Merlin, and the Knights of the Round Table in our legendary action roguelite!
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working hard on improving the game and we’d like to thank you all for your feedback and support so far, it really means a lot!
We did however notice a lot of your comments relating to Morgana and her associated blessings and curses, so today, we’re excited to be releasing the new content update 1.0.4 that reworks how these mechanics function in-game alongside the introduction of elite enemies, and a number of balancing improvements and bug fixes!
A matter of balance
Originally Morgana’s blessings and curses were designed to be completely randomised and unrelated to one another, but with this new update they will always be generated in pairs to ensure a more balanced trade-off between the good and the bad. In addition, when encountering Morgana during a run, Arthur will be given a preview of the blessing and curse combination before making his choice.
New perils await
The new blessing and curse combinations will also change gameplay more dramatically, offsetting greater benefits with higher but more appropriately calculated risks. Some examples of the new curses offered to you by Morgana include “Parched” which will result in health fountains drying out, and “Drunk” which causes Arthur to dash in reverse! But fear not! Enjoy discovering numerous new blessings including buffs to dash distance, skill damage, killing minions with one hit, and much more!
The bigger the better
As you get stronger, so will your enemies! Get ready for the elite minions! These variations of the common minion are equipped with two HP bars and cannot be staggered or knocked away by your attacks before the first bar has been broken. Beware, some of the elite are equipped with vicious attack variations compared to their regular counterparts, so you better start training!
See below for the full list of features and fixes coming with the new update:

1 Week to Go & Post Round-Up
With just one week to go until the release of Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur, we wanted to provide you with a little round-up of all our previous Steam updates, so you are caught up just in time for launch on the 5th of October!
The tale of Camelot and its destruction by the devious Void Giant is a tragic one. Don’t fret, we have prepared a handy recap of everything that has happened before the beginning of your quest, from the Knights of the Round Table’s mission to seek the Holy Grail to Camelot’s unfortunate banishment to the Astral Dimension.
Watch as the wizard Merlin recounts the tale in the Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur opening cinematic below and refresh your memory!
Now that you’re all caught up with the story of our fantasy action roguelite, let’s have another look at the realms and enemies of the Astral Dimension. First up is Brochalant Forest, the verdant forest area with lush trees and bubbling ponds inhabited by pesky little creatures. From the enormous Mushler to the vicious Stinglead, the forest is out to get you!
Should you make it out alive, you’ll reach Sarrache Desert, a barren wasteland filled with mountains of bones and bothersome monsters. Best avoid creatures like the Pincoid, a luminous, sharp-sheared beetle on a quest to strike you down, or the Stombelisk which could attack you from above at any moment.
Enter the most challenging area yet! Suidhe Forest is not only overflowing with dangerous streams of steaming lava but is also teaming with lethal enemies, such as the Infernix or the Baramander which will leave behind a trail of fire or send blazing projectiles your way. Only the bravest of knights make it out of here alive.
Between runs, you will find yourself back in the kingdom surrounded by citizens you have previously rescued on your quest – and they are eager to help you in return.
Meet the builders! Once recruited, they’ll be able to help you restore buildings on the castle grounds. As you rebuild its ruins, watch your kingdom level rise, and unlock even more updates, buildings, and advancements!
The blacksmith, Tabuchet, on the other hand, will be happy to get to work in his workshop and, in exchange for a small price, upgrade a sword of your choice and increase its stats.
There are many more colourful characters you will meet and recruit on your journey, from the Hunter looking to reward you for your work clearing the dungeons and the Gem Merchants granting you stat and ability improvements, to the Tarot Reader eager to reveal your fate! Find them all, seek their help, and soon you will be unstoppable!
Your fellow knights may have perished but their powers remain, waiting to be stored in your broken Excalibur! Harness their powers and find out all there is to know about their weapons, and mechanics below.
Think you’ve got what it takes to beat Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur? First, you’ll have to get past its vicious mini bosses!
Battle your way through the realms and encounter numerous randomly determined mini bosses such as the Toadstool Monarch of Brochalant Forest. With an abundance of attacks up its fungal sleeve, it will unleash its minions to distract you while leaping toward you spawning an expanding, damaging ring!
Each area comes with its own set of mini bosses – dodge the deadly lasers of the Arcane Monolith in the Sarrache Desert or escape the volcanic explosions the Moltencore Golem aims at you in the Suidhe Volcano.
Need a little assistance to maximise your chances of survival during your run? Explore the different areas of the realms and you will encounter various dungeon features like the Knight Statues and the Round Tables granting you upgrades and skills, or the Healing Fountains alongside many inhabitants of Camelot.
Speak to the witch Morgana to gain a valuable blessing in exchange for a deadly curse, visit the merchant Assam to purchase potions and vitality boosters or ornaments and pendants increasing your attack speed and damage, and face the mysterious Pan Piper’s challenges and survive hordes of dangerous enemies!
It is finally time to face off against the legendary giants protecting their realms. When the Void Giant’s soul broke into three colossal aspects, the giants broke free and will now do anything in their power to prevent you from successfully completing your mission.
To defeat the Forest Giant, Planterra Gigas, dodge its intense attacks, violent stomps and destructive punches and move onto the next level.
Move onto the desert realm and you’ll reach the Primal Dryland Sloth in no time. Don’t be fooled by its appearance or you might get surprised by its vicious attacks, fast projectiles, and unpredictable gusts of wind.
That’s it, knights, you’re all caught up on Knight vs Giant: The Broken Excalibur’s features and mechanics, just in time for when the game launches on October 5th!
