Kreedz Climbing in the News!

Hello Climbers!

It is exciting to be part of ObsessionSoft right now. Two major game news sources have written articles about us. Check the links below!

Discord Server
We will be setting up a community Discord server soon so that players can get together to work on maps, get questions answered and discuss the various aspects of the game or just simply hang out and get to know each other. This will be done with the help of a new guy in town named Duggy who is graciously helping us out.

Revamping Medals
We will soon be revamping the Elite Status and Medals system. It will be easier to understand and far more logical. It boils down to players who complete courses without checkpoints will get Elite status and Platinum medals. Players who used less than 10 Checkpoints (used = Teleported to a set Checkpoint) will receive Gold, less than 25 will receive Silver and Bronze will be issued to the rest who complete a course.

Thank you:
We would like to thank those of you who are nicely reporting bugs and issues and would like you to know that those things will always have a priority with us before we add new big features. The Steam Workshop is next on our list to give mappers a place to upload their maps and make it easier for the rest to find and download them.

Thanks for reading!

Kreedz Climbing Dedicated Server Missing files added

Some files were missing from the dedicated server which has now been corrected. The missing file issue should not have affected any of the running servers and there's no need for those to restart.

If you've been trying to run a dedicated server and had issues such as "Unable to load Steam support library", that's now been fixed!

New Mapping and Gameplay Guides added!

Hello Climbers!

The two of us at ObsessionSoft have not only been working hard on fixing the very few small bugs noticed since the release, we also have created a few comprehensive guides for you to explore.

Raptor has made an in-depth Kreedz Climbing specific commands guide and I have uploaded 2 video gameplay guides to help you learn surfing and the bungee, as well as 10 videos in one guide for mappers/level designers new to Kreedz Climbing who wish to create custom content for the game.

That is for 4 guides to teach you tons of very useful commands, some gameplay and how to work with Kreedz climbing specific entities like how to add timers or give a map course surf or bhop modes.

On the back of that we would like to say our first few days since the release have been really awesome for us and we really enjoy getting out on there on the servers with all of you and getting to know each other. We can see a really nice and helpful community growing. We would like to thank all of you for downloading and writing such positive reviews about the game.

We have noticed that the few negative reviews were mainly due to not understanding the 11 year history behind the game or not understanding the game at all. In light of this we would like you to know we are always open to your questions and quickly answer them. If you browse the duscussion forums you will see that none go unanswered, and no one is left alone with no help. We take pride in this game and the community and like to be helpful rolemodels for the rest of you.

To clear up a few common questions lately, we would like to announce a few things we will be working on implementing in the near future that are high up on our priorities list:

*Steam Workshop
*Steam Achievements
*Linux

The list is obviously longer but these are the big ones. Thanks for reading!

Update for Kreedz Climbing released

An update for Kreedz Climbing has been released. This patch will be automatically applied by Steam. You may have to restart Steam for the update to immedietely start downloading.

Please note that when a patch is released, the currently running servers will be out of date and won't show up on your server browser anymore. Once they update they will appear again!

Changes:

  • Added a server auto-restart script to the dedicated server install. This script will let your server auto-restart and auto-update if you configure it to do so.
  • /invis 1 now mutes footstep sounds, hides the overhead name, hides checkpoint effects and hides elite bubbles. (You can change all these settings individually in the advanced options).
  • Pressing the spectate key twice now exits spectator mode instead of doing nothing.
  • Added a hint on screen to show what button to press to activate your current Powerup.
  • Maximum FOV raised to 120. Note the slider in Options / Video / Advanced still shows the maximum of 90, which is the default in Source games and needs to be easily chosen. You can raise your FOV higher by using the fov_desired console command, typing /fov_desired 120 into chat, or using the +fov_desired 120 launch option.
  • The console will now automatically open any time you are on the main menu or press Escape ingame. This can be disabled with con_showonmenu 0.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed burningfeet effect getting stuck and floating when a player goes through a trigger_teleport entity.
  • Fixed the selection colour in the console being black.
  • Fixed issue where players can interfere with other players using some buttons (kz_mars).
  • Fixed a rare server crash issue.
  • Fixed trigger_bhop_teleporter entity using excessive amounts of server memory (kz_bhop_tiles etc). Hopefully this also solves the server instability issue on bhop maps.
  • Disabled VR support as we have no way of testing if it works properly (The devs don't own VR).
  • Fixed kz_cl_spec_helper_self not saving to config ("View your own button presses").

Tag Arena Changes:

  • Removed the USP from players while playing Tag Arena (it doesn't do anything).
  • Spectators now automatically join when rounds restart, instead of having to press F2.
  • Seekers no longer collide with other seekers.

Patch Incoming!

Hello Climbers!

We'll be releasing a patch soon that addresses some of the issues found in the game so far. We wanted to get more done here (especially doing something about the chat spam on 32 player servers when lots of people finish a course), but servers are having issues which need to be immedietely resolved.

Please note that when the patch is released, the currently running servers will be out of date and won't show up on your server browser anymore. Once they update they will appear again!

For our first update, here's what's changed:

You don't need to quit the game to update until you notice server starting to shut down. Have fun!

Kreedz Climbing - Day 2!

Hello Climbers!

It's been a great launch day for Kreedz Climbing, and fortunately it seems there hasn't been too many issues. We've had lots of positive feedback and it's been wonderful to hear!

One of our most common questions has been "how do I disable the art tool" - there's a few ways you can do this:

In the console (or in chat if you add a / before the command), use "rrdecal_maxdistance 0" to disable seeing any dots ever. To just remove all the dots for now, press R twice with the tool out.

We'd like to encourage anyone who has feedback, whether positive or negative, to post it on the Community Hub forums. We can't improve the game without your suggestions and requests!

Speaking of improvements, we're working on a patch right now! We've been collecting feedback from players and here's some of what we've been up to so far:

  • We've created a system where servers can automatically restart and automatically update if a game update is released. We feel this is important to allow us to update the game regularly. More information on this will be available when the update is released.
  • Raised the maximum FOV to 120.
  • Added a key hint prompt to the powerup display showing what key to press to activate the powerup.
  • Pressing spectate when already spectating respawns you instead of doing nothing.
  • We're addressing the issue that's been identified with the buttons in some maps.
  • We're investigating an issue where some players with certain input languages can't use the console. If you're affected by this issue, we recommend changing the key the console is bound to in options/keyboard.

That's just a few of the notable issues we identified. Of course there will be other fixes for small bugs that hopefully no one has noticed!

Thanks again for playing, we hope you're having lots of fun!

Kreedz Climbing Steam Release!

We are now officially released thanks to all of you!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for downloading, and also to thank everyone in the last 11 years who supported us, worked with us, and those who just can't stop loving the game. So far things are going well! We haven't found any major issues yet, except for a really low resolution icon, so it looks like all engines are GO!

Thank you to everyone who voted for us and also to our long standing community. We have done our best to bring you the best possible game and plan to add the Workshop, Achievements and other game features for you in the future (Trading Cards are not available to Free games).

Remember to visit the Community Hub and post on the forums if you have any questions, comments or issues!
