Patch v1.26

Hello!

Little patch for the weekend! I have to admit that I've been working on Lakeview Cabin 2 a lot this week and Valley has taken a step back. That, and I also finally build a pc and I've been slaying some demons... Been good for the mental health during these damned times. I hope everyone's doing well despite all of the stuff that's happening. Because hearing it from a random lone game developer is totally what you need...

Anyway, I still got some bugs squashed, here's the biggest ones:

  • Increased “Pogo's” reach
  • Tried a little fix for the black screen in cutscenes, they might load a bit longer now but at least they LOAD…
  • Made sure the Preacher knows if you’re lying about being violent
  • Tried a little fix for that one specific butterfly ruining your hobbies with other butterflies
  • Sheriff shouldn’t stay clapping anymore
  • Changed some lines in the Russian translation

Now available in Russian and Chinese!

Hello everyone! Sorry for taking so long with a new patch, but I've been working on the translations, along with some of the nicest people I have ever had the privileged of working with!

But a few bug fixes did find their way into this patch too! Here's everything that was changed:

  • Added Russian language
  • Added Chinese language (Still needs some work, but it’s already better than nothing!)
  • Fixed background and fading issues with some cutscenes
  • Fixed the cutscene where only your nose was showing
  • Fixed an issue wtih the “sauna challenge” not activating as it should
  • Tried another little fix for the butterflies staying on till the next day
  • Fixed a problem with transitioning from the southern beach area to the town area that allowed you to travel out of map bounds
  • Escaping BumBum through lake should not lower your popularity anymore

A little patch for the weekend! Small list but big fixes!

  • Fixed problem with some flowers not growing properly
  • Fixed the wings appearing ripped after bringing a new butterfly to the table
  • Hopefully the state of the flowers will now save properly
  • Added a new cheat “allmyseeds” which gives you 99 units of each seed
  • Fixed the transition from Stuarts house north that caused some players to glitch out of the map

Patch v1.23

Hello everyone. I was down with the flu (still am) and wasn't able to get a patch up sooner. But here it is now, more fixes coming later this week!

List of changes:

  • Fixed the muscle sore problem. It was actually giving you more stamina… (This is why, when someone asks me what I do for living, I still kinda cringe when I have to say I’m a game developer…)
  • Fixed another muscle sore problem regarding the big flies
  • Tried a little fix for the butterfly stuff not saving properly
  • Fixed Donna’s butterfly
  • Made sure the whole wing collection is visible…
  • You can now find the jar and mug in the town, so you won’t lose them if you “travel” without them. They still might not be around on older saves.
  • Fixed the butterflies staying during daylight
  • Fixed some more stuff in that secret place that nobody seems to be talking about
  • Tried a little fix for the underwater distortion staying on screen if you wait until midnight underwater
  • Made sure the good doctor has his dialogue during _the_ rampage
  • Fixed some portrait issues

Patch v1.2ish(?)

Ooookkay here's some more fixes. Feeling a bit hungover but I had to get these done today. I'll be back with more fixes tomorrow!

  • Made muscle soreness go away by sleeping
  • Fixed the villagers spawning from the bottom of the map… Embarrassing bug, sorry!
  • Fixed the mailbox not giving necessary items
  • Made the “pogo” killable
  • Reduced the amount of days some flowers need to grow

Patch notes for last nights update

This is not all the stuff that has changed but here's the big ones:

  • Added flowers that you can grow
  • Added alcohol into the game
  • Made time skipping faster
  • Made the doll into an item you do NOT want to find. Now it randomly changes places, but with a bit of investigation you can determine where it is.
  • Fixed the “ineedmytools” cheat screwing up the cheat input
  • Fixed the stalls and the npcs not working properly on the second Sunday
  • Fixed Frank only warning you about collecting the sauna rocks, now he will attack after the first warning
  • Fixed the “gym” not giving stamina
  • Buffed the zombies a bit, but I think I need to completely rework how they behave in the future…
  • Fixed your seed and flower collection not depleting correctly when used
  • Changed all the status effects you get from drinking or smoking flowers
  • Tried a little fix for the issue that caused the Sheriff or the Doctor to not appear at the hospital, causing the game to soft lock

Lakeview Valley - new update

Hey all. I just updated the game. Lots of new stuff. More bug fixes coming soon. Sorry I don't have time to explain. I'm just slightly impaired, and I'll probably regret this "news" in the morning. I'll be back after the weekend with a better explanation on what has been changed. Maybe we can just pretend this is some elaborate PR thing to appear more mysterious.

Beta for the new features is NOW AVAILABLE!

Hello everyone! Some good news and some bad news! I've talked about this on the Lakeview Discord, but I thought I'd write something here too. Good news is that it's the holidays and we're soon moving to a bigger apartment. Bad news is that it's the holidays and we're soon moving to a bigger apartment, which means that I haven't been able to work on the game as much as I have wanted. I know I promised the big update before Christmas, but life got in the way... I'm so sorry for not being able to deliver that...
Buuuut I decided to upload a Beta for everything I've been working on for Lakeview Valley, which you can access from the games properties. A lot of the new stuff is still WIP, but there's some improved stuff to the base game (or at least I hope they're an improvement) so I feel like it's a nice patch in it's own. I'm just so sorry I wasn't able to get everything done I wanted. But now I need to take a breather and focus on the other stuff for a moment.
I hope you all have great holidays! I'll be back full-force in January!


For now, here's all the stuff that has been changed in the beta:

  • Added flower-planting
  • Added a pipe to smoke the flowers out of (status effects are not hooked up yet so it doesn’t do much)
  • Added a teamug to drink some flower-tea out of (same issues as the pipe)
  • Added a mailbox so you can receive letters, and maybe a gift or two
  • Added butterflies
  • Added more stuff to that trash thing
  • Added more stuff to that big thing
  • Added more stuff to that thing that scares the crows (this is very unfinished)
  • Nerfed all the melee weapons
  • The villagers will now get a bit stronger and faster every time you “travel”
  • Added new stat “Base damage”, which affects how much damage you do (duh).
  • Added new stat “Metabolism”, which affects how quickly you need to eat after gaining stamina.
  • Added new stat “Sauna Skill”, which affects how much heat you can take in a sauna
  • Added new stat “Mojo”, which affects how well you perform during THAT minigame
  • Added new stat “Blood thickness”, which reduces the amount you bleed from wounds.
  • Added new stat “Luck”, which affects how easily you find seeds with the shovel
  • Another fix for the speed boost staying into the next day
  • The doors at the town won’t lock anymore. It’s easier on the players this way, and nothing bad ever happens at the Valley so why would they lock them anyway…
  • Extended the overworld theme, even though I believe a shorter loop makes people more murderous…
  • Added a mute button for the overworld music in the pause menu
  • The “murder-theme” will now play when near any corpse, instead of only when near the bus accident victim
  • Added a thermometer to the sauna, which will show just how hot it is. Taking a good sauna will increase your metabolism stat.
  • Tried to optimize the beach area so it will load faster (this was happening because of the stage updating the pathfinder map every time you entered the area, it might still happen since it’s required, but not as often.)
  • Getting killed by the Sheriff won’t immediately subtract from your popularity points
  • Changed the “ineedmytools” cheat to give you only tools
  • Added cheat “greenthumb” to give you all gardening items
  • Added cheat “imhangry” to give you some food items
  • Added cheat “dontlookatme” to give you all the masks and Amy’s face
  • Added cheat “eenymeeny” to give you a selection of weapons
  • Added cheat “thatstuff” to give you misc. items that didn’t fit into the other item cheats
  • Added cheat “movethatbus” that gives you all the furniture (in white color)

Sorry for not patching the game earlier this week, some of you may already know that I was bed-ridden with flu and fever this week.
That’s no excuse though, and I reeeally want to update the game at least weekly. So here we are again, with a list of changes!

  • Added a little text and audio cue to when it turns midnight
  • Fixed the number keys sometimes not working for the inventory
  • Made keyboard players able to change inventory slots with T and Y
  • Made the map upgrade work with the Y button on a controller
  • There was a problem with the randomised “treasure” dig-sites, fixed it, and also added almost the double amount of dig-sites to the game
  • The metal-detector shouldn’t keep peeping after you’ve digged the hole anymore
  • The cat and the dog should not get suspicion “pop-ups” over their heads anymore
  • Made Dr Don move a bit slower
  • Made sure the Sheriff’s contribution to the building of the stage gets reset if you “travel”
  • Made sure the Sheriff’s decision to start with the song gets reset if you “travel”
  • Fixed the “bone throwing” problem if you “travel”
  • Made sure the Hermit doesn’t give his “gift” speech if you’ve already gone to bed
  • The signed work permit will now be removed if you “travel”
  • Found a reason why the “big guy” didn’t take damage from the chainsaw, fixed it
  • Made sure Luanne’s shop doesn’t leave the “sell prompt” open if you exit during it
  • Tweaked a thing with the Scarecrow, so that “thing” should now work if you “travel”
  • Made a promise to myself not use as many quotation marks in future patch-notes

Patch v1.06

v1.06
This one is a bit of a smaller patch since I’ve been working on the Upper League update, and had to disable most of the stuff I’m adding to the game soon ;) Also had a bit of a problem with my software subscriptions, which is another reason why this patch took a few days longer to get out.

List of changes:

  • Added 15 new outfits
  • Added 6 new hairstyles
  • Added a delay to crapping your pants so you have time to react
  • Fixed the bald hair not working
  • Added a little tweak that should allow you to get out of a shop, even after closing time
  • Made the number of flies reset when “traveling”
  • Made the time warping move the clock faster
  • Fixed the home award achievement not unlocking
  • Hopefully fixed the issue that caused you to transport to black screen area when you drag an object and die
