Lambda Wars Update 26th January 2018 (version 3.11a, rev. 6448)



Welp, I was expecting to make this update a bit more exciting, but sadly it was hard to complete everything in time, so I will release these things during next month, I hope.

Had to design the cover for this update myself, since Carbongo, the one who made that awesome Christmas update design vanished into thin air. No clue what happened there. All I know is he's mad at me for some reason. I hope he at least tells me what the issue was.

The map took quite some time to work on. It took a long time for me to adjust the environment for the map as well as the weather effects. Hopefully it runs well on low-end PC's!

Changelog:

Units:

  • Increased Dropship flight altitude to 600 (from 430)


Maps:

  • New map by Mr. Lazy - hlw_bridge
  • hlw_breakout: fixed the navigation issues and added more detail
  • hlw_citadel: Reworked the geometry of the map, fixed dropships being stuck in the sides of the map, optimized the map for AI
  • hlw_city16: Fixed navigation issues


UI:
  • Lobby fixes for tooltips
  • You can now see the AI player difficulty as a lobby member


Gameplay:

  • Fixed a case where you could buy a unit too early due the way the resource accumulation worked.


Misc:

  • Jeeps now blow up when they die :)


P.S: There will be an overrun version of hlw_bridge down the road.
P.S.2: Expect issues with the update. They never come without an issue.

Phew, been a couple of weeks since the last news post, innit?

Well, we at the Vortal Storm team thought that it'd be nice to give you lovely people an update before going on a bit of a hiatus from posting any info (hence the 2 lovely new maps you received) in our News.

Everyone here was hard at work, and I want to give them all thanks for doing the wonderful job they do. Give them some love in the comments below, show us your LW Pride!

Now, off of that, there isn't any news. We've been enjoying our Holidays, and I hope you all have too. I don't foresee much content being released between now and next year, so as they say in America, "Happy New Years!"

Lambda Wars Christmas Update 23 December 2017 (version 3.10a, rev. 6407)
Balance:

  • Reworked Headcrab Cannister Launcher launch range:
    -Empty Shell now has global range
    -Headcrab Cannisters now have 0.65 of Map's maximum range (If your headcrab cannister launcher is located in the middle of the map, it can launch up to 0.65 range, that's more than 1/2 map range).
    -Poison Headcrab range changed to 0.8 range
  • Reduced Headcrab cannister prices
  • Increased amount of deployed poison headcrabs from 5 to 6
  • Normal headcrab price: from 25/40 to 25/35; Fast headcrab price: from 40/50 to 40/40; Poison: 40/25 to 35/25
  • Rescaled rollermine stats: Health - from 100 to 200, Damage - from 4 to 2, Stun chance - from 0.5 to 0.7, Explosion damage - from 50 to 65

  • Vortigaunts no longer turn into zombies
  • Rebel Flamers no longer turn into zombies


Maps:

  • Added a new 1 vs 1 community map by Mr. Lazy - hlw_breakout

Lamba Wars News! (Week 11 I think)

We've been awfully quiet as of late, and I regret to say that we don't have much for it.

Now now, calm your pitch forks and tiki-torches, we have an opportunity for Community members to get involved with these weekly posts, and some internal workings!

Do you speak Korean? Can you read this?

We're looking for you! We need a more korean-centric korean in the game, as I'm partly sure that we don't have reliable translations (mostly because I myself don't speak Korean).

Now, onto the part that applies to the most of you. Want to get involved with these posts? I'll start showcasing any LW Artwork you have either Drawn, Modeled, or in general, have made! Send me a Friend request or comment on my profile, with a link to your artwork (I prefer you use Imgur to upload, as I've had trouble in the past with phishing), and it may get featured on these posts!

I'm looking to two pieces in the beginning, and of course, those lucky two will be credited.

Now, I have to say apologies for being absent on these posts. I assumed you wouldn't want more news stating the same thing in different words. I will still count the weeks in between, but I won't be posting unless news happens. This is to lessen the pressure on our beloved developers AND the spam in your mailbox!

Competitive vs Annihilation

LW News! (Week 7, 8?)

Hello, Strategists! :SBchicken:

Now, I would like to firstly apologise for the lack of news last week. As you know, us westerners were celebratnig indians and white people shaking hands and eating together! Those of us who weren't getting drunk, were more than likely recovering from a food coma.

Now! Onto the juicy bits that you possibly care more about!

Sadly to say, because of school being spine-srushing, and food having lasting effects on us, the team hasn't developed new content. I mean, even this anouncement is a day late, so you can see some of the stress rubbing on us.

Now, the mod IS NOT DEAD. Let's clarify that, as I see a lot of people either saying this game went down the drain and is no longer being worked on, or had died long ago. This is not the case, as we are stll smoothing things, buffing and polishing, and overrall attempting to make the playing experience enjoyable for all!

Well, now that I've wasted about 3 - 7 minutes of your time, go play some Lambda Wars or something!

LW News! (Week 6)

Hello Strategists! :SBchicken:

Man, another slow school (or work) week for us all, right?
Well, for those of you celebrating, Happy Early Thanksgiving! And those of you that just want this year to be finished, Happy HallowThanksMas!

Now, onto business. Sadly, the development crops haven't dropped ripened fruit quite yet, but we have our oh-so beloved Dr. Mad looking at units, and deciding what entirely needs balancing and such.

Luckily for us, our beloved slave Mr. Darkness is finishing up his real life stuff (Gross, I know) and will be back to hs "90 Hours a Week and Loving It".


P.S. - Please stop asking about New Races, PLEASE. We've said 5 too many times that there are NO plans to add any new races to the game. Thank you.

P.P.S - First to tell me which movie I referenced with the line "90 Hours a Week and Loving It" will get bonus points.

Engine errors?

Hey guys.

Recently I heard a number of you peeps are getting the following:
Engine Error - "Could not load library client"


If this seems familiar to any of you, please make sure you're:


  • Not running Windows XP. It's no longer supported. Vista users crash a lot, according to our minidumps.
  • Launching a fresh download of the game OR have just recently updated, became unable to play while previously were able to launch the game before.
  • Didn't fiddle with the game library on your own without knowing exactly what you're doing or haven't followed a developer's instructions. The game library is located under Steam/steamapps/common/Lambda Wars


Keep in mind that the game launches alright for us devs and majority of players, so it must be something to do with your system specs or the file system. This is something I'm trying to look into right now.
