Painting & Decorating InDev Branch Now Available

Painting & Decorating InDev Branch Now Available

The Painting and Decorating update for Landlord's Super is now available to try from the In-Development branch. To access this update early, opt into the in-development branch (instructions below).

What is In-Development Branch?

In-Development is a Steam Beta branch that grants players access to the latest developer created builds of Landlord's Super. This means you'll be able to play the latest build of Landlord's Super, before it's released onto the main branch.

What's in the Painting & Decorating Update

Plasterboard all the interior walls of your house and paint them any style you like with all new Paint Set tool. Select from a huge array of paint colours to purchase. Store excess concrete, no-fines or mortar for use at a later date with the new Storage Buckets. Mix paints together to find the perfect shade, or even mix paint into your no-fines to change the colour of your house's exterior. Repair foundations! Apply wallpaper. Fit carpet. Tile your bathroom! And much, much more in the latest update to your quintessential construction simulator, Landlord's Super.

What much more!?

Here's the full change-list:

New Content

  • Added Paint Brush Set
  • Can now paint plasterboard with the paintbrush set
  • Added Paint Cans
  • Added Primary, Ugly, and Pastel paint colours.
  • Added ability to add colour to mortar, concrete and no-fines mixes (Change the colour of your house!)
  • Added Mix Buckets
  • Added ability to store and mix mortar, concrete, no-fines and paint
  • Added Wallpaper
  • Can now apply wallpaper to plasterboard
  • Added Carpet & Flooring
  • Can now apply carpet and flooring to foundations & plasterboard
  • Can remove carpet and flooring with the Hammer
  • Carpet, tiles and flooring now contribute toward the property value
  • Added Tiling
  • Added 3 new phone boxes, each appropriate to the year the player is currently in (1983, 1985, 1991)
  • Added storage for wallpaper, carpets, flooring, tiles, paint cans, mix buckets

Change List

  • Removed Jimmy license plate
  • Can cut off nails with the Circular Saw
  • Plasterboard
  • Plasterboard has been reworked to make it much simpler, easier to use.
  •  Can only order one size of plasterboard, which will auto-resize to the preferred size for static walls, or allow player to resize for player built walls.
  •  Plasterboard now snaps into place automatically.
  •  N.B. The above changes were made to allow players to easily line up plasterboard "flush" with one another, so as to avoid any unappealing seams with painting. I was also really unhappy with how awkward the task felt before hand, and this implementation feels much more enjoyable overall.
  • Bricks now have outline rendered when aimed at with the Circular Saw equipped
  • Increased the damage threshold for bricks and shingles
  • Some changes to how Cement Mixer highlights foundations to make it much more obvious of interaction options
  • Can now repair concrete foundations with Storage Buckets, Shovel, and Cement Mixers (so long as they are containing a Concrete mixture)
  • Can now load empty cement mixers with shovel mixtures
  • Added nail removal animation and audio
  • Hammer can no longer be used on screws. (While I figure out a fair way to have hammer interact with nails, the previous solution meant the screwdriver was basically useless)
  • Resized some of the windows and window walls to help them fit nicely with tiles, the game should auto adjust your windows for you on first load.
  • Mesh optimisation for brick mortar.

Bug Fixes

  • Urine now shows correct colour based on what the player has consumed
  • Urine puddles now show correct colour based on what the player has consumed
  • Increased max pool instance of pee & puke puddle particles by 10x
  • Pee and puke should no longer glow
  • Fixed issue where Mitchell would continue to think the property was un-liveable
  • Fixed missing fence collisions at Totter's Scrapyard
  • Fixed issue where players could get stuck on black screen when moving tenants into property while having unpackaged deliveries in the garden
  • Some minor optimisations to shadows
  • Conducted a general optimisation pass
  • Fixed save corruption caused by picking up the wooden pallets outside of Kashmiran's house
  • Fixed issue where damage visuals wouldn't show correctly upon load
  • Fixed a bunch of UI issues tied to the Tool Catalogue
  • Fixed issue where could place ladder on top of one another in storage (This requires removing all stored ladders first)
  • Fixed missing grass footstep audio for patch outside the property
  • Fixed issue where players could get stuck washing dishes or sitting on the toilet
  • Fixed a bunch of issues with the Cement Mixers
  • Fixed issue where walking speed wouldn't return upon leaving the cement mixers
  • Furniture placement optimised and improved
  • Fixed toilet seat folding issue
  • Fixed a bunch of player animations
  • Fixed several bugs with storage
  • Fixed issue with plasterboard not adding to the value of the property

How do I get involved?

Glad to have you involved. Follow these steps to access the In-Dev Beta Branch:

New Tools

Strike the earth with the shovel or work comfortably at night with the all new work light and pocket torch.

I think this update should be close to what you'll see in the Main Branch release now. We're going with calling the update the Lout update, and it should be out end of the month (barring any serious issues popping up).

Some changes to the rental loop. Tenants now do a lot less overall damage, meaning less angry tenants and a slower, more gradual property value decline. You can also now ask tenants to move out before anything breaks, allowing you to fix minor issues without losing Tenant satisfaction.

Anyway, close to getting the update and moving onto the next phase of development!

Thanks for the continued support, and to all the help during the In-Dev stage. You'll all sped up development of this project significantly!

In-Dev Patch 0.005.20 Now Live

In-Dev Build 0.005.20 (Now Live on Steam In-Dev Branch)

Fixed some long standing minor issues with how the foundations work, and made nail & screws highlight through other objects to make them easier to see. This is especially useful for laying foundations, and the rebar would get in the way of the nails.

I'm feeling like the build is very close to being released into the main branch, meaning I can move onto the next content focus, which should be flooring, painting and wallpaper!

Cheers,
Greg

In-Dev Patch 0.005.17 Now Live

In-Dev Build 0.005.17 (Now Live on Steam In-Dev Branch)
- Fixed issue where brick task wouldn't complete if started from scratch
(IMPORTANT : If you suffered this issue, you need to destroy and replace the bricks around the back door area for the task to trigger complete).
- Fixed issue with Foundation Wood giblets rendering pink
- Fixed issue with furniture nail rotation not saving correctly (Shower nails sideways bug)
- Vehicles once again aware of other vehicles

Tiny update today as I have spend half the day in the dentist, but thought it was worth putting up another small patch as this one solves a couple of serious issues.

Firstly, the Exterior Brick Task not completing when building from scratch was due to a triggerzone on the back door. If you have this bug You need to destroy the bricks around the back door and replace them. This should then trigger the task to complete.

Next update will be sometime next week as I'll be away with family. Do please continue to report any issues you have and I'll get to fixing them eventually.

Thanks again everyone!
Greg

In-Dev Patch 0.005.16 Now Live

- Fixed issue with freshly delivered pallets / frames / boxes not rendering over the wheelbarrow correctly

- Fixed Winston getting stuck on second delivery
(Also made a couple more tweaks to how he functions for deliveries)
- Fixed issue where breaking windows would stop tenants from moving in / moving out
- Temporarily removed the ability for players to break glass installed at the house
- Can once again place the sledgehammer back onto the tool rack
- Re-scaled the phone box (no idea why it went massive)
- New Leicester bricks can now take twice as much damage before breaking
- Days now twice as long (slower passage of time)
This one is likely to feel off as it's not balanced with the current energy setup, it should start to feel more natural as there are more ways of recovering energy and spending your time added to the game.

Mostly fixes but also some requested changes.

Thanks,
Greg
