New update, new Discord, exclusive monster!

Hi everyone,

The latest update is now live! It includes a huge rework on runs length and dynamic, a new master selection, 20 new artefacts, 2 new status effects and tons of improvements, balancing and bugs fixing (see the detailed patch notes below).

We also have a new Discord server, and an exclusive monster is now available for our newsletter subscribers!



Update: 0.9.1 patch notes



Features:



  • Huge rework on runs length and dynamic, starting monsters and rewards for missions, as well as an overall balancing! This is in anticipation of the Ascension system we are working on and the Archives section where players will be able to unlock new hidden artefacts that will be available soon.
  • New master selection with a beautiful map for each master!
  • 20 new Artefacts to discover!
  • New monster for players who subscribe to the newsletter: the Grief Weaver! You just need to redeem the code sent by mail on the main menu to add it to the available monsters pool.
  • 2 new Status effects: Guaranteed Critical and Dodge!


Improvements:



  • Default missions (previously called archetypes) are now a bit shorter than a year with specific weeks and enemies difficulty patterns. Each mission comes with its own repartition of heroes Tiers and levels. The reason for this was to make the game more dynamic, making the progression during a run less linear and slow. Reducing the length of the easiest parts of a run that were not really fun to play will allow players to dive into serious stuff more quickly. Players still eager to play during 2 years like prior to the update can use the customization settings to do so.
  • Missions are no longer unlocked depending on the master level, but require to finish the previous mission instead.
  • Enchantress is now unlocked when Slaveholder reaches level 5 and Engineer is now unlocked when Enchantress reaches level 3.
  • Missions rewards have been adjusted for all masters, moving all of them one mission below compared to the previous version. 5th mission now has a new reward for all masters.
  • Monsters and traps displayed in missions now have full information tooltips when mousing over them.
  • Artefacts are now giving more interesting bonuses to make them better game changing elements.
  • Some new artefacts are now displaying a Status on heroes to better keep track of stats bonuses monsters are benefiting from.
  • Plunders result window has now a different thumbnail for each available plunder in the game.
  • Some voices have been added to many monsters and heroes when attacking.
  • Increasing game speed settings during dungeons no longer creates “chipmunks” voices.
  • Gold gained in dungeons tooltips is now displayed with a min-max range.
  • Enchantress’ promotion spells are now displayed and called “arcane spells” for better comprehension.
  • Mousing over a dungeon in the Schedule scene will now display all the dungeons tooltips available for the week.
  • In addition to Bonuses and Penalties, some effects are now considered as Statuses. They are displayed with gold text. Stunned, Guaranteed Critical, Dodge and Active Artefacts are considered as Statuses.
  • Statuses are only removed when their effect is triggered. Statuses don’t lose any stacks when heroes are exploring a dungeon like other effects.
  • When monsters are defeated, they will now either lose 1 or 2 Motivation. The final amount lost can be altered by game effects like talents or passives.
  • Heroes groups generation has been improved.
  • Players can now skip trap rooms if they don’t want to place a trap.


Balancing:



  • All monsters and heroes have received balancing adjustments. Most of the changes have been made to increase fights duration, to reduce the chances for tanks and medium life pool monsters to be one shot by heroes, as well as better differentiate monsters archetypes. It has of course been done accordingly to the new artefacts power and new runs parameters.
  • Several masters’ attacks and spells have been balanced.
  • Interns have been balanced (minibosses).
  • Disasters have been balanced.
  • A few events have been balanced or adjusted.
  • Values of heroes skills and passives that were regenerating Life or giving Morale back have been reduced.
  • Hero’s passive with chances to stun can no longer be generated on Tier 2 and Tier 3 heroes.
  • Monsters max level has been reduced from 5 to 4. All the stats and attacks upgrades repartition has been adjusted accordingly.
  • Leveling monsters to level 4 now requires some Blood to justify the real power spike it represents (15 for rare monsters, 10 for the others).
  • Most of the existing Artefacts have been reworked or balanced.
  • Artefacts are now all considered as normal rarity. The rare reward for defending a dungeon from a group of adventurers containing a champion can now contain a normal artefact accordingly.
  • Orc, Yetigo, Gnoll, Ghost, Infernal Guardian, Jubokko, Skeleton Magus, Skeleton Archer, Skeleton Lord, Skeleton Dog and Skeleton Warrior have received either a new attack mechanic or had their passive reworked.
  • Morale percent given back to heroes by the Campfire resting room has been reduced from 30% to 20%.
  • Enchantress’ Blight attack no longer removes Penalties on all heroes.
  • Tiredness Penalty max damage dealt reduction has been reduced from 70% to 50%.$
  • Engineer advanced traps have been rebalanced.
  • Gold gained depending on dungeon difficulty has been rebalanced.
  • Pile of Bones trap is no longer restricted to Slaveholder only and can now drop for every master.
  • Electrical Coil trap has been reworked.
  • Weeks duration and costs of Seminar and Sanctuaries effects have been reduced by half.
  • Costs of monsters at the Merchant have been reduced by 50%.
  • Merchant Refresh cost has been reduced from 50 to 20 gold and cost per refresh from 25 to 10 gold.


Bugs fixing:



  • Fixed an issue causing a softlock when the Crystal Skull artefact would trigger on an intern death (miniboss).
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to melee heroes not going back to their initial position correctly in specific situations.
  • Fixed an issue with Enchantress’ Blight attack not taking Penalties applied to the targets into account correctly for damage calculation.
  • Fixed an issue with the experience gained animation not showing a level up correctly when the amount of experience was equal to the remaining required amount to level up.
  • Fixed an issue with Vampire Skin Artefact that was not applying its effects to monsters.
  • Fixed an issue where damage could be negative in specific situations, causing the target to heal instead.
  • Fixed an issue where the Frostbite application from the Monk class attack was not triggering when the condition was met.
  • Fixed some remaining issues with the Wizard class skill when swapping monsters.
  • Fixed an issue when swapping heroes with Enchantress’ Sand Storm arcane spell if there was a skeleton warrior from the Necromancer passive in the heroes group.
  • Fixed some issues when Mysterious Screwdriver and Enchanted Cogs are triggered at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where gold gained displayed at the end of a dungeon was not correct.
  • Fixed several typos.
  • Fixed an issue where Slaveholder’s Interview task was allowing the same event to be picked more than once.
  • Fixed several timing issues for effects gained when attacking, being attacked or defeating heroes or monsters. It was preventing effects from not being applied correctly.
  • Monsters revived by the Orc Sorcerer’s passive are now correctly keeping their level instead of getting the Orc Sorcerer’s level.
  • Fixed an issue where monsters could sometimes not be displayed correctly in dungeon rewards cards.
  • Fixed an issue where the Gym task warning was not correctly displayed when needed depending on the resources available.
  • Fixed an issue where the Fire Impaler’s second passive max value was not working correctly.
  • Fixed an issue with the Ice Impaler’s first passive not giving the correct amount of Power per stack of Thorns.
  • Fixed an issue preventing the Father of the Damned’s passive to work correctly.
  • Fixed an issue preventing the Druidess champion from using her passive when affected by SIlence.


Hotfix 0.9.1.1:



  • Fixed an issue preventing heroes from leveling up over the course of a run.

  • A first version of a saves back up system has been implemented in case players lose their saves for some reason to avoid Steam Cloud sync to override everything with empty saves.
  • Effects that will be consumed by an attack are now highlighted during the attack preview.


Balancing:



  • Heals based on a percentage of damage dealt is now ignoring overkill damage.


Bugs fixing:



  • Fixed an issue where Masters’ tooltip displayed in the rewards view was not taking in count stats from gym’s or rewards upgrades correctly.
  • Fixed an issue with Steel Golem’s Transmutation attack not giving shield if the hero would die from the attack.
  • Fixed an issue with damage preview not taking in count the consuming mechanics like for Flame Eater and Ice Elemental.
  • Fixed an issue with damage preview not taking in count the Hoplite’s Defensive Posture passive.
  • Fixed an issue with the Black Market displaying gold on the wrong button.
  • Fixed an issue where the minimap room FX for Enchanted Seeds Bonus was displayed on the Enchantress room if the monster room after the spell room was empty or if there was no available monster room.

Features:



  • New Master: Lira, the Monkey Engineer! Coming with new exclusive Mecha monsters, 4 new exclusive traps, a new advanced trap room when getting a promotion and a new dungeon environment, the Cursed Temple!

  • Steam Artefacts related achievement has been updated and can be obtained again.
  • Warning notifications on tasks in the Schedule scene have been improved.


Balancing:



  • Slaveholder’s talent giving him some Enraged stacks when taking damage has been changed to 50/100% chance to gain Enraged (1) when taking damage.
  • Slaveholder’s talent increasing Life regenerated when using Whiplash has been reduced from 10/20% to 5/10%.
  • Thorns effect is no longer available in the random Bonus pool for attacks, talents and artefacts.
  • Morale lost by other heroes when a hero is defeated has been reduced from 20% to 15%.
  • Elementals’ highest resistance matching their type has been reduced from 100% to 80%.
  • Masters’ upgrades after a dungeon can now be stats, attack or spell boosts regardless of the master you’re playing with.
  • Scepter of Destiny artefact no longer triggers on masters like it should have been initially.
  • Vampire is now a rare monster.
  • XP gained with masters has been reduced accordingly to the addition of the game mode archetypes system.


Bugs fixing:



  • Fixed an issue where a previous group of heroes containing a champion would continue to attack the upcoming dungeons in specific situations.
  • Fixed gold gained displayed for the Magic Purse artefact when playing in custom mode with different gold gained difficulty settings.
  • Fixed an issue with stats upgrades in events not added correctly to masters base stats.
  • Fixed an issue with stats upgrades at the gym not refreshing correctly the masters base stats in tooltip before leaving the task.
  • Fixed an issue with stats upgrades on modded monsters.
  • Fixed an issue in Interview task where master’s life cost was not displayed correctly.

Try the new master: the Engineer!



Hi everyone,

A new update is coming very soon... and a beta version is available for testing!
But in the meantime, Supporter Pack owners can already play the new master: the Engineer!

Lira, the Monkey Engineer, is coming with her new dungeon environment, her new exclusive monsters type, some advanced traps obtained when getting a promotion and her own talent tree!

To try this new master, go to your Steam library => right click on the game => properties => select "beta".




A whole bunch of new features will be available in the next update. Stay tuned!

Hotfixes 0.8.2.1 and 0.8.2.2

Here are the recent hotfixes made available for the latest issues reported with version 0.8.2.

Some players are also having troubles with the game (clicking play redirecting to the store page, unable to play with bugged saves via main menu on Windows, etc.). These are related to Steam issues and we can only ask you to update your Steam client to solve the issue. If you still have issues with the game after that, feel free to tell us on Steam forums. Also, please be sure to check you're on 0.8.2.2 on the main menu.

Hotfix 0.8.2.1:



  • Fixed an issue on start up if no mods had been subscribed resulting in an infinite loading screen.
  • Fixed a compatibility issue on Linux preventing players to launch a game.
  • Fixed an issue allowing players to upgrade monsters and traps past level max.
  • Fixed an issue where a few events had their options buttons incorrectly loaded preventing players to click on them.
  • Fixed an issue with monsters and traps displayed in the trainer and engineer tasks if they were swapped in the team management prior to enter the task.


Hotfix 0.8.2.2:



  • Fixed a compatibility issue on Mac OS preventing players to launch a game.
  • Fixed an issue with rare artefacts generation when players had already all of them equipped at the end of a champion dungeon.
  • Fixed an issue with the hero’s Penalty stack reduction passive not working as intended.
  • Fixed a remaining issue with trainer and engineer tasks where the preselection wasn’t correctly done if players had not enough gold.

Update: 0.8.2 patch notes



Features:



  • Morale system improved! Morale is now including 3 thresholds at 75%, 50% and 25%, preventing heroes from getting their Morale above a threshold once reached. In addition, heroes are now taking 50% more damage when their Morale is under 50%.
  • Artefacts system revamped! They no longer have levels and rare Artefacts can now be obtained after a Champion dungeon.
  • 3 new artefacts!
  • Main menu interface has been revamped!


Improvements:



  • Many existing events have been reworked and improved to include more choices, more decisive trade offs and be less punitive overall. In addition, some events will now even require the player to own a specific monster or artefact to get access to a more interesting alternative choice.
  • Some visual FXs have been added for several monsters’ passives and for specific Masters’ talents.
  • The “Info” tab in the master’s details window is now available with the master’s biography and stats.
  • The random content generated for weekly tasks is now preloaded before clicking on them, allowing for a more accurate warning indicator when the player has a lack of resources or monsters required for the task. It is also no longer possible to generate events or other tasks with random content again by going back to the main menu.


Balancing:



  • The effects of all existing Artefacts have been changed or adjusted according to the removal of Artefact levels.
  • Business Trip missions containing an Artefact as a reward has been balanced accordingly.
  • Mysterious Screwdriver Artefact can no longer drop until further notice.
  • Base Speed of Gargoyle, Flame Eater, Naga and Satyre has been increased by 10.
  • Fire, Ice, Wind and Earth Elementals now have the Resistance matching their element increased to 100%. They suffered a slight decrease in one of their other Resistances or Armor and a small adjustment to their level upgrades accordingly.


Bugs fixing:



  • Fixed an issue with modded monsters being duplicated in specific situations.
  • Fixed an issue with saves that could become corrupted in specific situations.
  • Fixed an issue with Gym Armor bonus for the Master that was not correctly added to the Master’s stats.
  • Fixed an issue where the master’s stats were not correctly refreshed after a task.
  • Fixed a remaining issue with the Archmage Ignited Shield that could result in the master not being at the right spot during the final room fight.
  • Fixed an issue where modded monsters level was not saved correctly when going back to the main menu during a run.
