Expected patch release: Monday-Tuesday, February 5-6 (Pacific Time)
News
Check out Lisk's Developer AMA and Jules' Gameplay & Balance AMA from this past month! These AMA ("ask-me-anything") events are run every month, so keep an eye on reddit for the next ones.
Long-ranged. Wields a mini flamethrower from afar.
Robo Stats
40 mythium mercenary
Type: Power mercenary (reduced income)
Role: DPS
Ranged / Magic / Fortified
As the cheapest power mercenary in the game, Robo gives you more options to be aggressive and break your opponent.
Classic Modes Overhaul
A near-complete overhaul of the Classic experience!
New Classic Mode: Superhero On Wave 6 and 16, gain a random Legion Spell from the following: Divine Blessing, Guardian Angel, Hero, Magician, Protector, Sorcerer, Titan, Vampire, Villain.
New Classic Mode: Dual Build Duel Everyone must dual build!
New Classic Mode: Mini and Wumbo Random roll with only T1s and T6s. Start with 8 income.
New Classic Mode: Tower Defense All fighters are stationary, but have +500 range. All enemies are melee ranged.
Harpy, Sky Queen, Great Boar, and Red Eyes received compensation buffs in this mode only.
Reworked Classic Mode: Giga Mercs - When you summon multiple copies of the same mercenary, they merge together to form a gigachad one with combined stats. - Abilities are also scaled. Safety Mole's Safety Aura scales to 4x power (instead of 8x for other abilities) - Mythium costs & incomes returned to normal.
Retired Classic Modes Leak2Win, Ordered Chaos, and Blitz have been retired. They may be reworked at a future date, but for now we’re excited about the new lineup.
Mastermind Reworks
Reworked Mastermind: Redraw - Reroll UI Button renamed to “Redraw” and uses a different icon to differentiate it from traditional Reroll. - Now gives you unlimited redraws! Each redraw costs 1-50 gold, scaling with wave number
The goal is to better fulfill the fantasy of assembling that perfect build. Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on the initial rework. As always, we will monitor closely and make changes as needed.
Reworked Mastermind: Lock-In - Income: +3 → +4 - Now auto-drafts a roll (using the automatic roll recommendation), rather than drafting a roll yourself - New “Lock-In Random Fighter” button, which gives you +6 gold
The goal is to make Lock-In the premier New-Player-Friendly Mastermind pick. Drafting is difficult and intimidating for new players, and being behind on income was a sizable disadvantage. The new Lock-In avoids the burden of drafting and closes the income disadvantage gap.
Additionally, Lock-In is now a viable option for veteran players who can randomize a Lock-In for bonus gold.
Reworked Mastermind: Kingsguard (From v11.00.5, an earlier hotfix patch) For those who missed the hotfix patch notes, Kingsguard had been reworked to the following: - Old: +2 income. Start the game with 2 of each king upgrade. - New: +2 income. Your king gains +22% attack speed.
Improved Pathing & Targeting
Pathing & targeting should behave more consistently now, without any core logic having been changed. This should make battles more consistent across the board, though not completely deterministic.
As an example, we ran a 1,000 battle simulations with a Gateguard built at (1, 7) against a Snail on Wave 1 as follows: - On the previous patch, it cleared 76/1000 times, with leaks varying between 43-58% (Screenshot) - With the improvements, it cleared 1000/1000 times.
Guess we should remove “slot machine simulator” from the Steam Store tags.
Game Balance
General
Leak Gold - The player causing the leak now receives ~35% more gold, and teammates receive comparatively less gold. You did the work, you should get the payoff. - In other words, players who apply pressure and break their opponent are now more individually rewarded. This makes chain-income sending and playing selfishly less individually rewarding.
Thanks to Bert in Discord for the suggestion.
Masterminds
Champion - Damage and damage reduction: 8% → 8.5%
Low win rate.
Kingsguard - Attack speed: +20% → +22% - Now displays a Kingsguard icon for every player on the opposing team that took Kingsguard. This no longer reveals which specific player picked Kingsguard, only that some player(s) picked it.
Slightly low win rate and pick rate.
We’re happy with the recent rework, but Kingsguard is still slightly underperforming.
King - Health decreased by 7%, base damage decreased by 50%, and attack speed decreased by 2% - Lightning Hammer: Percent current health damage: 6% → 12% - Upgrade Spell: 7% → 5% - Upgrade Attack: 10% → 14%
The king is now slightly weaker against small leaks and slightly stronger against big leaks. Overall, slight nerf to compensate for weaker mercenaries this patch.
Gatling Gun was perpetually one of the least-picked units in the game, despite having a high win rate. It was difficult to position well, and even if you did, things outside of your control were often the difference between your Gatling Gun partially tanking and dealing maximum DPS, and tanking too much and quickly dying - a fine line between polar opposite results. We’re removing their faster attack speed and higher damage taken when attacking closer targets, but keeping their identity as immovable, long-range, fast-attacking fighters.
Berserker / Fatalizer - Attack speed: 2.04 → 2.22 - Brawler and Duelist now cap after 20 stacks (~10 seconds of attacking the same target)
Stronger in general. Weaker in extreme cases, particularly against wave 20.
Radiant Halo - Particle Wave: Damage: 9 (3 to bosses) → 10 (5 to bosses) - Particle Wave now caps after 10 stacks (~10 seconds of attacking the same target) - Solar Flare: Stacks 3 times → Stacks infinitely
Arc of Justice - Purification Beam: Damage: 24 (8 to bosses) → 28 (14 to bosses) - Purification Beam now caps after 10 stacks (~10 seconds of attacking the same target) - Solar Flare: Stacks 3 times → Stacks infinitely
Stronger in general. Weaker in extreme cases, particularly against wave 20.
Mercenaries
Mercenaries have been significantly power-creeped over the years, which caused long-saving mythium to become too strong in the mid/late game. We’re scaling this back with nerfs to all mercenaries, which will shift the power budget of mercenaries back into income.
These changes will shake up the meta, and while we do our best not to make overly disruptive changes, we believe this is the best long term solution - and perfect timing for it, given it's early in the season and there's a brand new 40-cost mercenary!
High-income mercenaries are nerfed roughly 20% and power mercenaries are nerfed roughly 10%.
Maccabeus was too strong. Combined with being hard-countered by certain builds, wave 20 was problematic. This nerf encourages trying to clear wave 20, rather than stall as long as possible.
Balance Watchlist
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist: - Mercenaries and game pacing
Improvements & Fixes
New Feature: Classic Modes in Custom Games!
- You can now select which Classic Mode shows up in the Custom Game room - A simple majority vote (+1 yes vote) is enough to pass in Custom Games (as opposed to Classic, which requires +2 yes votes) - Disabled old Chaos, Hybrid, Prophet, and No T1 Modes, (they are largely redundant with the Classic Modes & Masterminds) - Improved MVP formula
Emotes Refresh
New: Community Emotes! There's nothing more sophisticated than using the right emoji at the right time, and it is our mission to give players the tools to do that. - doofFiesta - drachirWHAT - lwonSMAR - julianOHNO - kingdanzz - mrslickinsRespectable - ofmaNerdge - pennyPog - pennyShiko - fast
Plus, some Emotes QoL! - Emote UI Options display has been improved to make it easier to configure your Emote lineup (Screenshot) - Emotes by default now display without the white chat bubble (after some feedback & evaluation, we think they look better without the bubble. Apologies it took us this long to make this change). - Emotes are now their own tab in Options - Added a “Use Emote” quest to the weekly quest pool
As a compromise, an option called “Hide white bubble background behind emotes” has also been added to display the bubble for players who do like the pop-out appearance; just set that to OFF to keep the current behavior.
New Feature: Targeted Units HUD Display
The HUD now displays the units that the currently selected unit is targeting & targeted by.
Aside from looking cool, this could help players better understand which fighters are taking aggro.
New Feature: Nekomata Undo Spirit Offering
You can now undo Nekomata Spirit Offering stacks! Hold SHIFT to toggle on the Undo button.
Hell, it's about time.
New Feature: Guild Discord link
Guilds: Added a “Guild Discord link” field - publicly viewable, editable by the Guild Leader only. Link must start with "discord.gg/"
New Feature: Top Games Rewards
Making it onto the Top Games leaderboard now rewards 1000 Essence & notifies you with an inbox message.
Minor Improvements
Campaign: Campaign opponents now react with emoji if you long save against them (: pleading : when you long-save, : mild_panic : when the send finally comes)
Classic: Takeover Bots when Dual Building now build & upgrade fighters (not very intelligently, but at least they build something instead of just workers)
Loading Screen: Game should now load faster for the first run (resources are slowly pre-loaded while alt+tabbed or not moving your mouse)
Masteries: Clicking a unit in your Mastery profile page now shows a popup that you can flex (Screenshot)
New Player Experience: Reordered Reach 20 Workers to come earlier (affects new players from now on only)
New Player Experience: Greed is no longer automatically unlocked for all accounts, to encourage new players to learn the game with Lock-In
UI: Sacrifice now shows the amount of gold you’ll receive (similar to Sell, Pawn Shop, etc.)
UI: You can now pause/unpause the game with F9 (rebindable in Options). Pausing is now also rate-limited to 1 pause/unpause per second to help prevent cases of two players accidentally pausing/unpausing at the same time
UI: Turned off white chat bubble for various emotes
Sandbox: All fighters now always sell for 100%
Sandbox: -save/-load now supports Champion builds
Sandbox: -lockwave command now freezes workers, restores gold/mythium, and automatically uses -clear if you leak
Sandbox: New command: “-reload” which quickly uses -load with the most recently loaded build
Weekly Challenge: Now supports Champion builds
VIPs: Removed VIP display in Chat, Discord, and in-game. The “VIP” distinction was something leftover from release and has been retired indefinitely
Fixes
Campaign: Fixed a bug where Campaign opponents were mistakenly playing their “uh oh” sound every wave
Gameplay: Fixed a bug where Eco Detection was wrongly kicking in when almost, but not full leaking Wave 1 (e.g. solo Casket vs. Snail or solo Elite Archer vs. Snail)
Graphics: Fixed a bug where Eternal Wanderer/Samurai Soul weren’t properly tinted after reviving
HUD: Fixed a bug where the Estimated Mythium tooltip would incorrectly show an extra mythium (it was rounding to Ceiling instead of Floor)
HUD: Fixed a bug where Champion didn’t properly show up on the Enemy Tab scoreboard, or showed up twice
HUD: Fixed a bug where you would be unable to place new towers after shift+building, then selling a shift-built tower, then trying to build one in the same spot
Menus: Fixed a long-time bug where finding a match while purchasing a card from the card trader would cause the HUD to lock up in-game after entering a menu (such as viewing someone’s profile)
Menus: Fixed a bug where slower computers would fail to load the Codex properly
New Player Experience: Fixed a bug where the Incoming tutorial (third mission) bot didn’t build anything
Sandbox: Fixed a bug where Legion Spells in -save/-load were causing the game to break
Singleplayer & Co-op: Fixed a singleplayer/co-op bug where shutdown bounties were sometimes not cleared after using a Restart
Fixed a spectator bug where emote names would mistakenly show up as _Closed
Singleplayer & Co-op: Fixed a bug where shutdown bounties were sometimes not cleared after using a Restart
Stability: Fixed a bug where Dual Build players being unable to build after reconnecting
Stability: Fixed a bug where the game would fail to fully load the HUD after loading into game
Text Commands: Fixed some cases of the "-lifetime" command not working as expected
UI: Fixed some cases where |n mistakenly showed up in texts instead of being rendered as a new line

HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped up to this point!
Closing Remarks
This patch marks one of the rare times where the game's meta will be shaken up, but we feel it will be worth it to make a more compelling meta. As with all changes, these are heavily driven by thousands of games of data as well as player feedback through Discord, Reddit, and Steam. We are excited as well to give Classic Modes a major overhaul, along with refreshing some of the less popular Masterminds. Not to mention the new mercenary!
We've also taken the time to deliver a variety of QoL changes that have been highly requested, such as finally being able to undo Nekomata stacks.
As always, with any major patch, we'll keep a close eye on things and rapidly hotfix as long as needed.
Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.
If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short (hopefully positive ) review for the game! If the game reaches 90% positive, Steam will give it more visibility = more players = more freelo better matchmaking!
If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!
And as always, if you have constructive criticism, let's chat about it. Discord and /r/LegionTD2 on reddit are our main channels of communication, and aside from the development team, there are community helpers who can ensure your feedback is heard, as well as answer pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about the game. If you want a guaranteed answer from the devs, the monthly AMAs on /r/LegionTD2 are your best bet.
Sincerely, The Legion TD 2 Team

This Month
New this month: Starting with January Nova Cup 2024 following new rules will apply:
Division 2 will now also be drafted from the top 8 teams in addition to Division 1. The rest of the divisions (3-5) will continue to be seeded as before.
Conquest (Division 1 & 2 rule) will now apply to the whole team instead of just the individual player. For example, if you win a game where your ally picked Greed and you picked Yolo, both of you will not be able to pick Greed or Yolo next game. The restriction only applies to the winning players. If you lose with Yolo, you can still pick Yolo next game.
The upcoming January Nova Cup takes place January 27 - 28.
$875 in prizes and sign-up is free - first come first served! There are up to five skill divisions, so no matter what your rating is, you have a chance to win. Participation prize: Every participant who plays all of their matches will receive a FREE random card. If you haven't played a tournament yet, this is a great time to join.
Requirements
- Everyone that is level 3 or higher can join for free! First come, first served. So even if you recently joined the game, feel free to participate!
Twitch Drops
When you watch Nova Cups on the official channel, aside from enjoying shoutcasted top-tier Legion gameplay, you'll also receive in-game rewards based on how long you watch!
Watch the official Legion TD 2 Twitch stream during a Nova Cup to earn the following rewards: - Watch for 60 minutes: 2,000 essence - Watch for an additional 90 minutes: 4,000 additional essence - Watch for an additional 120 minutes: Random card
In other words, if you watch the Nova Cup both days, you'll earn 6,000 total essence and a random card!
IMPORTANT: You'll need to link your Twitch account to your Legion TD 2 account in order to earn the rewards. Link Your Twitch Account
Team Sign-up Instructions
Sign-ups are open from NOW until January 27 9am PST / 6pm CET.
To sign up, find a teammate and form a party. After you're both in the party, have one player type "/signup [team name]" (e.g. /signup Snail Kings) in chat. You should see a confirmation message that your sign-up went through. For those who participated in previous Nova Cups, you no longer need to do /join to signup.
The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. For division 1 and 2 the top 8 teams are drafted per division. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. View the team list to see your sign-up position and division.
If there are more than 32 teams checked in, there will be an additional best-of-1 qualifying round to allow more teams to participate. It is a best-of-1, rather than a best-of-3, to keep the event from running overly long.
You may sign-up as a solo with a suggested team name using the "/signup [team name]" command. Solo teams will be added to the Public Teams list, then be formed into teams on the day of the tournament. Solo teams will be randomly assigned a team name from either of its members.
If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.
It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.
Any team that fails to check in will be disqualified. The next team on the waitlist that checked in will earn a spot.
Game Format
The custom game room creator should enable Tournament Mode in the room. This will ensure the following settings:
2v2
Mastermind only
Hybrid disabled
Division 1 & 2 Only - Conquest rules apply. (Once you win with a Mastermind playstyle, you and your ally can't use that playstyle again for that series)
Final Remarks
For a full list of rules, prizes, and other details, visit the following link: Nova Cup Rules & FAQ
See you on January 27th! The Nova Cup will be casted and streamed at twitch.tv/ltd2. Check the Tournament Discord on the event day for links to the other casts.
Sincerely, Your Legion TD 2 Tournament Staff
v11.00.5
Kingsguard rework, plus a lot of other fixes. Also listing previous hotfix changelogs below for reference. Still keeping an eye on Redraw, Leak2Win, and a few other things, but likely bigger changes to come in v11.01 rather than a hotfix.
v11.00.5
Balance: Kingsguard reworked! - Old: Start the game with 2 of each king upgrade - New: Your king gains +20% attack speed - Kingsguard now displays alongside the Cave icons and the "Received ___" messages on Wave 1 to make it more clear when your opponent is playing Kingsguard This allows your king to be even stronger than a normally max-upgraded king!
Balance: Megamind - Lock-In & Double Lock-In are even further less likely to be rolled
Fixes - Fixed an edge case that caused some client instability
----- Earlier patches below (these were deployed last week/over the weekend) -----
v11.00.4
Fixes - Fixed a Megamind bug where under rare circumstances, a player could mistakenly pick Megamind twice - Fixed a UI bug where masterminds weren’t all unlocked in Sandbox - Fixed a UI bug where Team Chat in some circumstances didn't autoscroll to the bottom - Fixed a rare interaction between Sorcerer & Champion that didn't allow you to pick Champion on a new unit after picking your Sorcerer unit
Improvements - Champion icon now shows on the Tab scoreboard - Champion & Hero/Villain/etc. icons now show in the Postgame scoreboard Waves tab
Kingsguard likely to receive a rework/tweak this week. Keeping an eye on Redraw and may tweak as well.
v11.00.3
Major Fixes - Improved matchmaking formula to better balance between current rating & last season's peak
Fixes - Fixed a bug where picking Megamind would sometimes result in being stuck in the mastermind selection screen - Fixed a reconnect bug when reconnecting in Classic before having picked your legion would cause you to be stuck in the loading screen - Fixed a UI bug where Megamind --> Lock-In was mistakenly displaying the Double Lock-In icon - Fixed a UI bug where Megamind --> Lock-In/Double Lock-In mistakenly booted you from Team Chat while selecting your lock-ins - Spectator delay increased by 30 seconds to fix bugged cases where a spectator connects before the game is ready for it - Fixed API legion field for megamind to return the rolled mastermind instead of megamind - Fixed a gameplay bug with Eco Detection where it was falsely flagging an eco player who had built, but still leaked 100% on Wave 1 (e.g. Solo Casket vs. Snail send) - Fixed a system bug where Pity Points past a certain number weren't taking effect as intended - Fixed a UI bug where pinging an enemy fighter on the Tab scoreboard was displaying in the wrong color
Improvements - UI Tweak: 4v4 workers no longer display the 4v4-specific reduced mythium gather rate, which has the effect of having cleaner worker numbers on Waves 1-10 (pre-v11.00) - Picking Megamind now shows the rolled mastermind in team chat: https://i.imgur.com/YhivieK.png - Picking Kingsguard now is taken into account for MVP Score and Playstyle graph - Player Profiles now no longer show pre-release rating badges (but they are still visible in the Trophies tab) to reduce clutter on older accounts - Megamind popup now automatically closes (removed OK button). We received feedback of players accidentally double-clicking and locking something in.
Balance: Leak 2 Win - King Health: +25% --> +100% - Leaking: +10% missing health --> +20% missing health - Clearing: -5% current health --> -10% current health
The goals of these changes are to make leaking rewarding and make king health a valuable resource - without the king being weaker. We are continuing to gather feedback to try to find the sweet spot for this mode. Thanks everyone who has given early feedback so far!
v11.00.2
Balance - Redraw: Rerolls: 4 --> 5. We will collect more feedback after Ranked is enabled tomorrow and continue to evaluate if further tweaks or reworks are warranted. - Leak 2 Win: King health increased by 25%
Fixes - Fixed a reconnect bug where in some cases while Dual Building in Classic, a player couldn't build towers after disconnecting/reconnecting - Fixed a Campaign bug where Mama Mayra on Hard didn't get bonus workers after using a Restart - Fixed a Hybrid bug where Pirate Skeleton didn't start with Secret Stash until the next wave - Fixed a UI bug where whispers weren't showing up in-game - Fixed a UI bug where queueing King Upgrades wouldn't process at the last possible moment in some cases - Fixed a UI bug where the HUD didn't display the correct estimated gold amount when taking into account Dwarf Banker & Big Wig - Fixed a UI bug where the Rolls message in chat displayed an extra time in 1v1 mode - Fixed a UI bug where the HUD mistakenly displayed red Overwork worker numbers for allies instead of just the current/affected players - Fixed a UI bug where the AutoAttack Games logo animation didn't play when starting up the game
Improvements - Improved some spectator UI (for Megamind) - Added a chat message for Lock-In/Double Lock-In to show what rolls you picked
Fixes - Fixed an issue where players were getting stuck in loading screen - Fixed some rare cases of game crashing - Fixed pinging workers in Classic not showing the correct value - Fixed 1v1 Event Rewards tooltip - Fixed Dwarven Banker mana in Classic (was incorrectly 4, should be 5) - Fixed Match History not showing Megamind - Fixed a UI issue where Classic worker counts were mistakenly showing as red numbers

Game Balance
General
Rework: Mid/Late Game Workers
Instead of all workers being scaled by +6% mythium rate per wave starting on wave 11, each new worker is scaled by +12% per wave starting on wave 11. For example, when you train a worker on wave 13, that worker is now worth 1.36 workers. (+1.36 mythium per 10 seconds)
This buffs mid and late game workers, without inflating the amount of mythium in the game.
Details: The +12% buff is applied each wave gradually over the course of the build phase. For example, at the start of wave 11's build phase, new workers are worth the usual 1, and by the end of wave 11's build phase, new workers are worth 1.12. It's still optimal to train workers immediately when you can.
Rework: Classic Bonus Income - Reduced bonus income - Bonus income no longer influences power score - High-rated ranked players who are low-rated in classic are now considered stronger by the matchmaker
This makes players with bonus income less likely to quickly go on fire and improves overall fairness. It also makes it less likely for high-rated ranked players to unfairly get bonus income.
Due to player base limitations, Classic has loose skill-based matchmaking, effectively putting you into a game as soon as 8 players are ready. The matchmaker then automatically balances the teams, but when teams cannot be properly balanced (usually due to 3-stacks and 4-stacks), we compensate the lowest-rated players on the weaker team with bonus income to keep things fair.
Tab Scoreboard - Now displays enemy Fighter Value when viewing the enemy team (Screenshot) - During the build phase, you'll see each player's Fighter Value from the previous wave - During the battle phase, you'll see each player's current Fighter Value
In high Elo, value-counting has become an expected skill. While it is a skill, it's not fun to do, and we'd rather reward players for focusing on other skills.
Additionally, this change indirectly nerfs full eco/sui by making it more obvious when players don't add any Fighter Value.
King Upgrades - You can now research king upgrades a split second after the wave starts (before mercenaries warp) to squeeze them in at the last possible moment.
Masterminds
Fiesta - Gold gain: 14-50 → 13-48
Very high pick rate
Legion Spells
Battle Scars - Health gain per stack: 360 → 350
High pick rate.
Creditor - Maximum spare gold: 170 → 180 - Maximum gold gained per wave: 85 → 90
Low win rate and pick rate.
Lizard Army - Mythium: +50 → +55
Low pick rate and win rate.
Overwork - Mythium rate on wave 12: -30% → -35%
Very high pick rate.
Fighters
Fire Archer - Attack speed: 1.02 → 1.05
Dark Mage - Mana regeneration decreased by 4%
Bone Crusher - Health: 1120 → 1110
Shifting power from Bone Crusher and Dark Mage to Fire Archer.
Sacred Steed / Pegasus - Mana regeneration decreased by 4%
Very high pick rate.
Tempest - Machine Gunner: 14 → 15
Leviathan - Health: 1770 → 1730 - Damage: 71 → 69
Shifting power from Leviathan to Tempest.
Dwarf Banker - Damage: 50 → 53 - Max mana: 8 → 6
Big Wig - Damage: 146 → 153 - Max mana: 12 → 9 - Mana lost on death: 40% → 50%
We're happy with last patch's change to Bankers and are pushing it further. Nerfing the maximum upside on their gold generation, since it’s promoting unhealthy gameplay, but compensating with stat buffs. Also, better rewarding tactical Short Selling.
Legend Rating Display Legend ranked players now have their current season and previous season peak rating numbers displayed.
This is intended to better differentiate between Legend players and give Legend players an incentive to climb as high as they can.
Guild War Guild War now starts 4 hours sooner! - Previously started at 7 am PST, now starts at 3 am PST - Previously started at 4 pm CET, now starts at 12 pm CET
This is intended to give players from different off-peak timezones more opportunity to participate
FairPlay Players who are actively chat-banned with 7+ lifetime chat bans (i.e. 30+ day length chat bans) who are frequently reported for verbal abuse are now, in addition, given a micro-suspension (~30-90 seconds). This incentivizes chat-banned players to reform & improve their behavior.
This affects an extremely tiny minority of players who have 7+ lifetime chat bans. It takes consistent negative behavior across hundreds of games to reach this point.
Balance Watchlist
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist: - New Masterminds - Worker changes
Improvements & Fixes
Improvements
Post-game MVP: Improved formula
Tab Scoreboard: You can now ping individual fighters. The “wants to build fighters” message will now only display if you ping an empty space on an allied lane.
Matchmaking: Now takes into account past season peak. This should provide fairer matches especially near the start of the season.
Eco Detection: Improved detection for players who full-push/eco in the mid/late game
Social Options: Added Receive Guild Invites option if you want to turn off receiving guild invites
Player Reporting: You can now report players in non-game chat by clicking their chat message/whisper
Player Reporting: When unmuting a chat-banned player in-game for the first time, it now displays an additional confirmation popup (Screenshot)
Chat: Chat messages and whispers are now clickable (to view profile/mute/report/etc) (Screenshot)
Classic Mode Voting: Now displays the message in Team Chat, so you can strategize your legion choice based on the mode (Screenshot)
Fixes
Stability: Fixed some very rare cases where ratings weren't updated after the game finished
Stability: Fixed a very rare case where the game would freeze, usually in very spam heavy Classic games on Wave 21+
Chat: Fixed a bug where in-game chat would be lost if you were in certain menu screens
Main Menu: Fixed a bug where warning icon UI didn’t update automatically (i.e. when a mute/suspension expired)

HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped up to this point!
Closing Remarks
With this new patch, we are excited to kick off the new year with tons of content to go along with the new ranked season!
The new Masterminds will add new opening gamestates that will add even more variety to the meta without breaking anything that players are familiar with. The mid/late game worker rework seeks to address some of the pain points of last season's meta hopefully without breaking anything.
Merry Christmas!
We hope you're hyped for the new season, Season 2024, coming in just a couple weeks! In the meantime, we want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Twitch Drops
To celebrate the holiday season, a Twitch Drops Celebration will be run from December 24th - January 2nd!
From December 24th - January 2nd, watch any Legion TD 2 Twitch streamer with Twitch Drops enabled to earn the following rewards: - Watch for 60 minutes: 2,000 Essence - Watch for an additional 60 minutes: 4,000 Additional Essence - Watch for an additional 120 minutes: Random Card In other words, simply watch 240 minutes (4 hours) of Twitch, and you'll earn 6,000 Essence and a Random Card in total.
Check out Lisk's Developer AMA and Jules' Gameplay & Balance AMA from this past month! These AMA ("ask-me-anything") events are run every month, so keep an eye on reddit for the next ones.
Next Nova Cup: January (date to be determined). Enjoy the break this month!
All mercenaries have +100% bonus damage and health and give 2x income, but also cost 2x as much mythium. Abilities are also scaled.
Mercenaries are also 50% chonkier in size.
Christmas Map Decorations & Skins!
A treacherous snow queen has cast a spell over the world of Legion, and it's all frozen over! But fear not...she's actually not treacherous. She just wanted everyone to get in the holiday spirit! On top of the snow-covered landscape, you'll find Christmas trees, presents, colored lights, snowmen, stockings, candy canes, and more goodies around the map. Enjoy the fresh look for Legion TD 2 while you eat Christmas cookies and hopefully spam some games over the holidays!
New Christmas Map: Both 2v2 & 4v4 maps packed with Christmas decor! New Skin: Gentleman Ogre New Skin: Red-Nosed Centaur
Screenshots
The snow queen promises to lift the "eternal" winter next patch, when Season 2024 starts. You can toggle decorations in Options if your PC is struggling to contain her power.
Floating Isles Campaign
In case you missed it, the long-awaited third singleplayer/co-op campaign, The Floating Isles, just recently launched!
Party as 1-4 players and challenge all new opponents: Reek-a-deek, Fabulous Freddy, Declan Stormhammer, Jill McDonald, Rex Ribbitor, chaoslord2468, and Drachia!
As average end wave has increased and players have mastered Chaos, it has become the top performing mastermind, especially at higher ranks.
Full Eco Strategy ("Sui") - If you are full-ecoing, you now receive 20% reduced income gold that wave
Our philosophy is that unorthodox strategies are good for the game in moderation. However, full eco is too strong and becoming too frequent, so we're nerfing it. To avoid this penalty, make sure you're trying to clear some of the wave.
Fighters
Nekomata - Spirit Offering: Health gain per stack: 280 → 290
Shifting power budget from AOE to single-target damage.
Balance Watchlist
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
Mid & late game workers
In some game states, it's not rewarding enough to push workers in the mid and late game. We're iterating on systemic changes to fix this, but to avoid shaking up the meta too much near the end of the season, it's best to wait until the Season 2024 patch in January.
Improvements & Fixes
Improvements
Guild Donations: Donating the first card of a card type for your guild now gives 3x bonus contribution to the player (like it used to). However, a player is disqualified from the bonus if less than 33% of their total guild contribution is coming from their current guild. This discourages players from intentionally hopping from guild to guild to farm contribution, while still rewarding the vast majority of players who are loyal to a particular guild.
Sandbox: New UI buttons for playback up/down and start/clear wave (Screenshot)
Added new Interface Option: "Enable right-click to ping" option (default on) to allow players to disable right clicking to ping to reduce misclicks
Added new Interface Option: "Always send queued mercenaries immediately" option (default off) to allow players to send their queued mercenaries immediately when they can afford them, rather than waiting until the last possible moment (default).
Slightly improved MVP score formula
Fixes
Fixed a bug on Wave 22+ where the light shafts didn't change color during build phase
Fixed a very rare bug where a guild's card donation progress could be wiped. If this bug occurred to you, please open a ticket at legiontd2.com/support

Team Sign-up Instructions
Sign-ups are open from NOW until November 25 9am PST / 6pm CET.
See you on November 25th! The Nova Cup will be casted and streamed at twitch.tv/ltd2. Check the Tournament Discord on the event day for links to the other casts.
Sincerely, Your Legion TD 2 Tournament Staff

Game Balance
General
Rating Decay - Players rated 2600+ who have not played a ranked game in 2+ weeks will decay 10 rating points per day. This will help keep the top of the ladder representative of the currently-active best players.
Classic - Blitz and Ordered Chaos special modes are now less likely to show up as a hot mode & randomly selected mode. A new Classic mode coming next patch, and another one soon (TM) after that!
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
Game length
Over the last few months, average game length has increased by 1 minute. We ran an in-game poll asking ranked players their thoughts, and from thousands of responses, here are the results:
Happy with game length: 66.6%
Want longer games: 21.6%
Want shorter games: 11.8%
One interesting result was that preferences vary by rank. Bronze-Expert players (97% of players) prefer longer games, and Master+ players (3% of players) prefer shorter games. Good news is that at every single rank, most players are happy with average game length.
Mid & late game workers
In some game states, it's not rewarding enough to push workers in the mid and late game. We're evaluating systemic changes to fix this, but to avoid breaking the game near the end of the season, it's best to wait until the Season 2024 patch in January.
Chaos
From a game balance point of view, Chaos has a reasonable pick rate and win rate, comparable to Cartel, Cash Out, Greed, Yolo, and Fiesta. However, some top-ranked players have expressed concern with the more RNG nature of Chaos. We're still gathering feedback and considering changes.
Improvements & Fixes
Improvements
Pulverizer now more consistently shows its VFX/SFX, even if the unit died when the stun hit. Also made the VFX a bit louder.
Fixes
Fixed a bug in the Leaderboards tab where the Divine leaderboard was missing (as a dropdown item in the Level leaderboard)
Fixed a bug in Spectator mode where emotes didn't work for spectators other than the first slot
Fixed a bug on low resolutions (e.g. Steamdeck) where the in-game King Upgrade panel was covered up by the bottom-left HUD panel (mercenary icons/autosend indicator)

Closing Remarks
Hope everyone had an enjoyable Halloween weekend! With this update, we are excited to introduce new units to the game! The goal of Pirate Skeleton is to bring the fun of Grarl to more openings & strategies. Spectral Scallywag brings built-in synergy with Pirate Skeleton in that its ability is quite strong early-game. It also has late-game scaling potential with its dodge + max health mechanics.
Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.
