Team Sign-up Instructions

  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until October 21 9am PST / 6pm CEST.
  • To sign up, find a teammate and form a party. After you're both in the party, have one player type "/signup [team name]" (e.g. /signup Snail Kings) in chat. You should see a confirmation message that your sign-up went through. For those who participated in previous Nova Cups, you no longer need to do /join to signup.
  • The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. View the team list to see your sign-up position and division.
  • If there are more than 32 teams checked in, there will be an additional best-of-1 qualifying round to allow more teams to participate. It is a best-of-1, rather than a best-of-3, to keep the event from running overly long.
  • Both players must join the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Make sure to set your server nickname to match your in-game name.

Solo Sign-ups

  • You may sign-up as a solo with a suggested team name using the "/signup [team name]" command. Solo teams will be added to the Public Teams list, then be formed into teams on the day of the tournament. Solo teams will be randomly assigned a team name from either of its members.
  • If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
  • If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
  • After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.

It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.

Schedule

Saturday, October 21
  • Check-in window: 8:45 - 9:15am PDT / 5:45 - 6:15pm CEST
  • Games: 10am - 1:30pm PST / 7 - 10:30pm CEST

    • Semi-finals (Best of 3)
    • Final (Best of 5)

Check-in
  • Teams must check in via the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Waitlisted teams should also check in.
  • Any team that fails to check in will be disqualified. The next team on the waitlist that checked in will earn a spot.

The custom game room creator should enable Tournament Mode in the room. This will ensure the following settings:
  • 2v2

  • Hybrid disabled

Division 1 & 2 Only

Game Balance

General

King
- Damage decreased by 33%
- Lightning Hammer: Percent health damage: 4% → 6%
- Upgrade attack: 7% → 10%
- Now smarter about targeting in certain circumstances

This brings the king closer to pre-tenacity levels; it is now slightly stronger against huge leaks. Also, upgrading the king is stronger.

Recommended Fighter Value
- Formula adjusted to weight mythium more

This should be more accurate particularly at higher mythium counts.

Legion Spells

Glacial Touch
- Damage: 50 → 45
- Percent slow: 90% → 95%
- Percent slow against bosses: 90% → 80%

Shifting power from AOE to slow, and nerfing against bosses.

Fighters

Dwarf Banker / Big Wig
- Attack speed: 0.92 → 0.94

Low win rate and pick rate.

Violet
- Lightning Strike: Damage 80 + 0.15% max health → 85 + 0.15% max health

Small nudge to make Violet more rewarding.

Infiltrator / Orchid
- No longer count as ranged after arming with shurikens

Gateguard / Harbinger
- Chaos Hound / Cerberus: Attack speed: 1.04 → 1.02

High win rate and pick rate.

Butcher
- Health: 1310 → 1340

Head Chef
- Health: 3670 → 3750

Low win rate and pick rate. Longer games indirectly nerfed Butcher and Head Chef.

APS / MPS
- Attack speed: 1.32 → 1.27

High win rate and pick rate. Longer games indirectly buffed APS and MPS.

Whitemane
- Health: 4550 → 4500
- Damage: 179 → 177

High win rate and pick rate. Longer games indirectly buffed Whitemane.

Soul Gate / Hell Gate
- Healing reduction: -50% → -60%

Gates are in a good spot, but still a bit oppressive with healing.

Waves

Wave 8: Kobras
- Attack speed: 1.563 → 1.538

Wave 9: Carapaces
- Attack speed: 1.504 → 1.527

Shifting power from wave 8 to 9.

Wave 14: Killer Slugs
- Attack speed: 1.19 → 1.2

Wave 15: Quadrapuses
- Health: 2230 → 2210
- Giant Quadrapus: Health: 8920 → 8840

Shifting power from wave 15 to 14.

Misc. Balance

Blitz (Classic Mode)
- Build phase game speed slowed a bit: 1.7x to 1.3x → 1.6x to 1.0x

In response to feedback that players didn't have enough time to build.

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If specific units/spells are being more closely monitored than usual, they will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
  • Dwarf Banker / Big Wig, especially in Classic
  • King balance
  • Summoners
  • Healers
  • Ramping units

Improvements & Fixes

Major Improvements

Card Trader Overstocking
Now can stock duplicates of cards! This makes it easier to collect your favorite cards whenever they are overstocked.

Minor Improvements

  • New Emoji: JULES (Screenshot)
  • Hovering a player’s rank in the loading screen or postgame screen now shows their rank name & elo range (Screenshot)
  • Added a little bit more grace period for deploying/upgrading fighters the moment before a wave starts (total wave time is unadjusted; this is just a cosmetic change that displays the timer slightly ahead of “actual” time)
  • Emotes are now enabled for Spectators, though their emotes will be visible to only other Spectators. This mainly affects the Nova Cup casts.

Fixes

  • Fixed a UI issue where the Match Found popup would be mistakenly displayed in the loading screen
  • Fixed a bug where players who had a newly earned Weekly Quest were unable to reconnect to a game in progress
  • Fixed a few minor bugs with the ping wheel (“wants to send”) on Wave 21 displaying the wrong text/sound
  • Fixed a bug where Game Coach mistakenly warned you about being overbuilt on Wave 18 or later
  • Fixed a bug where Pack Rat Treasure Hunt wasn’t considered an opening for Masteries

HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped up to this point!

Closing Remarks

With this update, we have been working hard on developing and balancing the upcoming Floating Isles campaign, and we can't wait to release it later this month! This patch also has some important balance changes to get the King in a better spot especially when it comes to one-shotting.

Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.

If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short (hopefully positive ) review for the game! If the game reaches 90% positive, Steam will give it more visibility = more players = more freelo better matchmaking!

If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!

And as always, if you have constructive criticism, let's chat about it. Discord and reddit are our main channels of communication, and aside from the development team, there are community helpers who can ensure your feedback is heard, as well as answer pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about the game. If you want a guaranteed answer from the devs, the monthly AMAs on /r/LegionTD2 are your best bet.

Sincerely,
The Legion TD 2 Team

v10.08.4

Balance

Shadow Dancer (Nerf)
- Attack Speed: 1.471 --> 1.418

Dread Knight (Nerf)
- Attack Speed: 1.471 --> 1.418

- Fixed a bug where the postgame builds tab wasn't properly showing the amount of king upgrades per wave
- Fixed a bug with Dwarf Banker & Big Wig mistakenly gaining mana/gold in Weekly Challenge
- Fixed a bug where ping wheel options for Wave 21+ were incorrect while the battle was in progress
- Fixed a bug where certain player accounts were receiving more essence per game than intended due to an unintended interaction between bonus essence multipliers

Improvements

- New Player Quests are now earnable in Classic, to accommodate Classic-only/Classic-focused players
- Updated translations

v10.08.3

Fixes/Improvements
- Optimized some systems to speed up the time it takes from "Match Found" to getting into game
- Weekly Quests & New Player Quests are now automatically claimed, which should resolve any lingering issues with quests not being earned properly
- Fixed a major long-standing issue with Power Score sometimes incorrectly calculating previous wave income. This should provide noticeable improvements especially when taking various resource Legion Spells.
- Fixed some tooltips

Balance

Bone Warrior
- Health: 140 → 150
This change was accidentally missed in the initial v10.08 release.

Iron Maiden
- Blade Storm: Damage: 40 → 42

Intentionally kept changes light for now. We are still gathering data & feedback on meta health (long-saving/one-shotting, etc) before doing a more major balance patch, if needed. Also note we are out-of-office next week (9/11-9/15) and will likely patch the following week (9/18-9/22).

Major Balance Patch & Weekly Quests

Expected patch release: September 5-6 (Pacific Time)

News & Updates

New Features & Content

New Feature: Weekly Quests

  • Each week, you receive 5 random quests. These work similarly to New Player Quests: complete the quest, and you receive 500 Essence!
  • Weekly Quests are earnable in both Ranked & Classic
  • If your New Player Quests are still in progress, you must complete those before unlocking Weekly Quests
  • You can turn off quests via Options → Interface if you prefer to keep them hidden (Screenshot)

New Skin: Fatality Infiltrator

Get over heeeeere!

New Skin: Deathwish Orchid

Game Balance

General

Systemic Changes
- Mythium rate increase per wave starting wave 11: 7% → 6%
- Long saving mythium is now less likely to make your opponents go on fire
- Fixed a bug where upgrading the king and taking Investment, Loan, and All Out Assault did not correctly affect power score

Saving mythium has been a dominant strategy because mid & late-game workers have been more powerful than income. Sacrificing income to keep your opponents from pushing workers has been too strong. These changes tip the scales slightly towards income.

King
- Health increased by 60% (75% in 4v4)
- Tenacity removed

While Tenacity had benefits, it also had unintended effects. We’ve heard enough feedback from the community that we’re testing a complete removal. This is an experimental change, and it may be reverted.

Legion Spells

Press the Attack
- Mythium: +70 --> +75

Pulverizer
- 34% chance to stun (17% for ranged) → stuns every 3 attacks (every 6 attacks for ranged)

Removing a source of frustrating RNG.

Fighters

This patch we’re buffing cheap units and nerfing strategy-limiting openings to increase opening variety, encourage 2+ unit openings, and create a more dynamic early game.

Pollywog
- Damage: 8 → 9

Seraphin
- Damage: 50 → 51

Devilfish
- Health: 1120 → 1100

Shifting power from Devilfish to Pollywog and Seraphin.

Bone Warrior
- Health: 140 → 150

Fire Archer
- Attack speed: 0.91 → 0.93

Bone Crusher
- Health: 1140 → 1120

Shifting power from Bone Crusher to Bone Warrior and Fire Archer.

Buzz
- Damage: 9 → 10

Peewee
- Damage: 8 → 9

Proton
- Health: 140 → 130
- DPS: 9.4 → 10.5
— Damage: 8 → 9
— Attack speed: 1.17 → 1.16

Atom
- Attack speed: 1.17 → 1.16

High win rate.

Chained Fist
- Damage: 8 → 9

Masked Spirit
- Damage: 7 → 8

Harpy
- Health: 220 → 200
- Damage: 14 → 15

Bazooka
- Attack speed: 0.75 → 0.76

Ranger
- Attack speed: 1.15 → 1.2

Daphne
- Health: 1050 → 1080

Chloropixie
- Damage: 49 → 50

Slime Larva
- Attack speed: 0.77 → 0.79
- Mini Slime: Attack speed: 0.77 → 0.79

Aqua Spirit
- Damage: 24 → 25

Fire Elemental
- Attack speed: 0.8 → 0.78

Shifting power from Fire Elemental to Aqua Spirit.

Sunfang
- Health: 2000 → 1970

High win rate.

Golden Buckler
- Health: 550 → 560
- Fixed a bug where it didn't have Deflection (15% reduced damage against ranged units)
- DPS: Unchanged
— Damage: 21 → 18
— Attack speed: 0.75 → 0.87

Warg
- Health: 950 → 960

Dwarf Banker
- Compound Interest: Mana lost when dying: 25% --> 20%

Big Wig
- Aggressive Portfolio: Mana lost when dying: 50% --> 40%

Very low win rate and pick rate. We intend to keep these units slightly on the weak side due to their unorthodox gameplay, but they were still performing worse than expected.

Sacred Steed / Pegasus
- Mana regeneration decreased by 4%

High pick rate.

Sea Serpent
- DPS: 66.4 → 67
— Damage: 75 → 65
— Attack speed: 0.88 -> 1.03

Now has stronger thresholds against waves 2 and 4, but worse against wave 3

Seadragon
- Health: 870 → 830

Lifebinder
- Health: 2610 → 2530

High pick rate.

Treant
- Health: 980 --> 960

High pick rate.

Cursed Casket
- Damage: 28 → 20
- Iron Hail: Damage: 20x3 → 20x2
- Mana cost decreased by 40%
- Mana regeneration decreased by 10%

Cage of Pain
- Damage: 49 → 35
- Iron Hail: Damage: 35x3 → 35x2
- Mana cost decreased by 40%
- Mana regeneration decreased by 10%

Iron Maiden
- Damage: 70 → 50
- Blade Storm: Damage: 43x3 → 40x2
- Blade Storm: Damage Reduction: 1 → 2
- Mana cost decreased by 40%
- Mana regeneration decreased by 10%

More power budget in the ability and now casts more often.

APS / MPS
- Attack speed: 1.39 → 1.32

High win rate.

Gatling Gun
- Health: 1050 → 1020

Vulcan Cannon
- Health: 2950 → 2860

Very high win rate.

Priestess of the Abyss
- Attack speed: 0.97 → 0.95
- Burst Attack: Now also deals 0.035% max health damage

Priestess has long dominated as an opening. We’re nerfing her opening in exchange for slightly more power in the mid and late game.

Mercenaries

Lizard
- Health: 320 → 350

Lizards have been outshined by Dragon Turtles. This change makes Lizards more viable early game, makes their health consistent with other ranged mercenaries, and rewards saving mythium on wave 1. This is an indirect nerf to upgrading the king on wave 1, which is currently a dominant strategy.

Mimic
- Plunder: 2-7 gold → 2 → 9 gold

Very low usage rate. Now stronger from waves 10-21.

Witch
- Witchcraft: 3 mana per any unit dying → 1 mana per enemy unit dying
- Summon Froggo mana cost decreased by 70%
- Effective mana regeneration increased by 50%
- Froggos now decay after 40 seconds, consistent with other summons

Now viable on elite and boss waves. Previously, spam and summoner builds were too strong on these waves due to the lower wave spawn count. Also, Witch + Snail spam is no longer a powerful synergy.

Ogre
- Attack speed: 1.34 → 1.31

Four Eyes
- Attack speed: 2.24 → 2.2

Ghost Knight
- Health: 4050 → 4100

Centaur
- Attack speed: 1.85 → 1.77

Siege Ram
- Health 5600 → 5700

Needler
- Rapid Fire: Attack speed bonus: 35% → 25%

Kraken
- Ancient Power: Bonus damage and damage reduction per wave: 0.9% → 1%

Shifting power from high-performing DPS mercenaries to underperforming tank mercenaries.

Waves

Wave 6: Rockos
- Damage: 38 → 39
- Impale
— Damage amplification: 3% (1.5% to king) → 4% (2% to king)
— Now only affects damage from Rockos. No longer affects mercenaries

The recent Impale rework pigeonholed you into sending DPS mercenaries and heavily incentivized huge sends, making the wave weak on its own but too strong with a Drake, 2x Brutes, or even worse, 3x Brutes. This change should open up more viable sending strategies.

Wave 10: Granddaddy
- Attack speed: 3.704 → 3.636

As a boss wave, Granddaddy is intended to be strong, but it’s been a little too strong. This nerf should rein it in, while still keeping it a threat.

Wave 18: Wale Chiefs
- Damage: 170 → 180
- Poison-Tipped Pole: AOE Damage: 20 → 30
- Fixed a bug where Poison-Tipped Pole was unexpectedly resetting mana on-kill

Cheaper tank fighters are more viable on this wave now.

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If specific units/spells are being more closely monitored than usual, they will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
  • Summoners
  • Healers
  • Ramping units
  • Pawn Shop

Improvements & Fixes

Improvements

  • HUD: Now displays Wave 22, 23, etc. for waves after Wave 21. (Screenshot)
  • Ping Wheel: Now displays Wave 22, 23, etc. for waves after Wave 21. Also now displays wave number as text to help differentiate waves. (Screenshot)
  • Guilds: Guild tagline can now contain slashes & links. Good place to put your Discord link!
  • Takeover Bots: Now should save on Wave 21+ if their adjacent lane ally saves
  • Campaign: Locked campaign maps are now previewable in-game
  • HUD: Reenabled different-colored bars for units unaffected by mana restoration (i.e. Dwarf Banker)
  • Modding Support: Most internal classes are now public, for better modding support (requested by BoSen)

Fixes

  • Dwarf Banker & Big Wig: Fixed a bug where the estimated total gold tooltip after wave ends was doing incorrect math when they were at max mana
  • Login: Fixed a bug where logins failed if Steam servers were extremely backed up

HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped up to this point!

Closing Remarks

With this update, we are bringing some systemic balance changes to diversify the meta at all stages of the game and address some pain points. Systemic changes often have far-reaching effects, so we will be monitoring closely and hotfixing rapidly as always.

We're also excited to introduce Weekly Quests, which builds upon the New Player Quests feature introduce a couple patches ago. The goal of this system is to give players achievable, fun goals to shoot for and feel rewarded for completing them, without being overbearing or too in-your-face.

Sincerely,
The Legion TD 2 Team

v10.07.5

Note: all v10.07.x patches are hotfixes and usually contain only minor changes compared to typical monthly updates.

Major Fixes
  • Mac Only: Temporarily disabled Emote ground graphics for Mac only to hopefully fix the graphical artifacts

Improvements
  • Emotes: New larger Emote graphics, which look much better than the previously upscaled ones. Thanks to Drachir for working hard to make this happen!
  • Startup Logo: Lowered volume slightly by popular request
  • Spectator: Map pings now show the spectator’s name, similar to regular player pings
  • Updated translations. Thanks to everyone who continues to contribute. If you want to get involved, join the Legion TD 2 Contributors Discord.

Minor Fixes
  • Fixed a bug where Dwarf Banker and Big Wig cards displayed the wrong item rarity in some situations

Dwarf Banker (buff/nerf)
- Health: 700 → 600
- DPS: 38.9 → 43.5
- Damage: 44 → 47
- Attack speed: 0.88 → 0.93

Big Wig (buff/nerf)
- Health: 2040 → 1760
- DPS: 113.3 → 127.8
- Damage: 128 → 138
- Attack speed: 0.88 → 0.93

This change will make them less reliant on off-tanking, which was difficult and counter-intuitive for a unit you want to keep alive.

Fire Elemental (nerf)
- Attack speed: 0.82 → 0.8

As players have learned how to optimize the new Fire Elemental, it’s become too strong.

Gatling Gun (nerf)
- Health: 1080 → 1050

Vulcan Cannon (nerf)
- Health: 3030 → 2950

High win rate.

Hydra (buff)
- Damage: 111 → 114
- Hydralings: Damage: 37 → 38

Low usage rate and win rate.

Revive and on-death spawn (buff/nerf)
- Spawn delay: 2 → 1.5

This change affects Slime Larva, Slime Siren, Eternal Wanderer, Samurai Soul, Hydra, and Guardian Angel. We will evaluate further changes next patch.

King
- Improved targeting logic against Shaman and Needler

Team Sign-up Instructions

  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until August 19 at 9am PST / 6pm CEST.

Schedule

Saturday, August 19
  • Check-in window: 8:45 - 9:15am PDT / 5:45 - 6:15pm CEST
  • Games: 10am - 1:30pm PST / 7 - 10:30pm CEST
    • Round of 16 (Best of 3)
    • Quarter-finals (Best of 3)

Sunday, August 20
  • Check-in window: 9 - 9:30am PDT / 6 - 6:30pm CEST
  • Games: 10am - 1:30pm PST / 7 - 10:30pm CEST
    • Semi-finals (Best of 3)
    • Final (Best of 5)

Check-in
  • Teams must check in via the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Waitlisted teams should also check in.
  • Any team that fails to check in will be disqualified. The next team on the waitlist that checked in will earn a spot.

Game Format

The custom game room creator should enable Tournament Mode in the room. This will ensure the following settings:
  • 2v2
  • Mastermind only
  • Hybrid disabled

Division 1 & 2 Only
- Conquest rules apply. (Once you win with a Mastermind playstyle, you can't use that playstyle again for that series)

News & Updates

Major Updates

New Unit: Dwarf Banker

Every wave it stays alive, it earns increasing amounts of bonus gold. But if it dies, the bonus drops significantly.

Dwarf Banker Stats:
  • Tier 3 (Cost: 95g)
  • Role: DPS
  • Ranged / Impact / Natural
  • Compound Interest: If it survives the wave, it gains 1-6 mana based on wave number and earns 1 gold per mana. If it dies, it loses half mana. Mana transfers when upgraded.

New Unit: Big Wig

With bold new investment strategy, it has greater potential for profits…and losses.

Big Wig Stats
  • Tier 3 Upgrade (Cost: 185g)
  • Role: DPS
  • Ranged / Impact / Natural
  • Aggressive Portfolio: If it survives the wave, it gains 1-6 mana based on wave number and earns 3 gold per mana. If it dies, it loses ALL mana.
  • Short Selling: Does not gain stacks or gold from Aggressive Portfolio this wave, but also does not lose stacks if it dies.

Emotes 3.0

Emotes are now easier-to-use and more visible!
  • Emotes are now usable via Ping Wheel. The hotkey Shift+E still works, too.
  • The ground image now has the “chat bubble” style, and also scales up if you’re zoomed out, which helps ensure your opponents don't miss when you spam .
  • Added 2 new animation styles: “slide-in-out” and “no-animation”
  • Added 6 new emotes: 4Fun, Dino, NiceLuck, Ostrich, Waldo, and WPGG. Thank you to Pennywise for contributing 4Fun, NiceLuck, and WPGG.
  • As a reminder, emotes can be enabled/disabled in Options (Screenshot). Enable only your favorite emotes and leave the rest disabled keep the window lean & easy to use.

Major Localization Update

Feedback has been heard loud and clear that translations could use some improvement.

Legion TD 2 is developed by a team of 3, and help is needed to continue to improve the game's translations in various languages. We've organized new Discord channels to help translators collaborate. Follow the instructions below to get involved.

New Unlockables

New Skin: Light Cycle Needler

Brand new look! Same great taste stats.

New Skin: Charred Lizard

Game Balance

Legion Spells

Battle Scars
- Health: 400 → 360
- Attack speed: 3.5% → 4%

Slightly high pick rate and win rate. Shifting power from health to attack speed, and an overall nerf.

Divine Blessing
- Attack speed: 17% → 16%

High pick rate. Divine Blessing is significantly less used in low and mid Elo, so we’re being careful not to overnerf it.

Pawn Shop
- Gold: 75 → 70

Very high pick rate.

Fighters

Chained Fist / Oathbreaker
- Attack speed: 0.925 → 0.935

Giving a nudge to help Oathbreaker as an opening.

Dark Mage
- Mana regeneration decreased by 4%

High pick rate and win rate.

Sky Queen
- Damage: 57 → 58

Low win rate.

Angler
- Max mana: 75 → 60
- Junior Fisherman: Mana gained per dying enemy: 2 → 1.2

Bounty Hunter
- Max mana: 150 → 120
- Commercial Fisherman: Mana gained per dying enemy: 1 → 0.6

Kingpin
- Damage: 223 → 228
- Max mana: 150 → 120
- Elite Fisherman
— Health per mana: 15 → 25
— Damage per mana: 1 → 1.5

Rework! Now harder to reach max stacks but even stronger if you do. Stronger with Sacred Steed, Pegasus, Starcaller, and Magician, which were previously a noob trap.

Slime Larva / Slime Siren
- Slime Larva and Mini Slime now spawn after 2 seconds (consistent with Guardian Angel and Eternal Wanderer)

Wileshroom
- Starting health: Unchanged
- Max health: 1740 → 1450
- Cellular Regrowth: Regeneration: 0.5% → 0.6%

Canopie
- Starting health: Unchanged
- Max health: 4800 → 4000
- Cellular Regrowth: Regeneration: 0.5% → 0.6%

High pick rate. More-or-less unchanged on their own, moderately weaker with % heal effects, and slightly stronger with health gain effects. Overall nerf.

Tree of Knowledge
- Forbidden Fruit
— Radius: 400 → 300
— Explosion no longer activates when dying for the first time while Guardian Angel is active

Very high pick rate. This makes the Guardian Angel interaction consistent with other units. It also creates a harder counter: tank mercenaries on ranged waves.

Eggsack
- Health: 2400 → 2500

Low win rate and very low pick rate. Eggsack is a threat in the mid and late game, but it continues to be a weak opening, so we’re buffing Eggsack instead of Hydra.

Hydra
- Hydralings now spawn after 2 seconds (consistent with Guardian Angel and Eternal Wanderer)

Millennium
- DPS: 164 → 170
— Damage: 253 → 272
— Attack speed: 0.65 → 0.625

Doomsday Machine
- DPS: 401 → 415
— Damage: 617 → 664
— Attack speed: 0.65 → 0.625

Millennium and Doomsday Machine have lost some identity as slow, heavy hitters. We’re increasing their DPS at the cost of slower attack speed.

Mercenaries

Mimic
- Plunder: 3 gold → 2-7 gold from waves 1-21

Mimic has been niche for a long time and primarily viable on wave 7. This change makes it stronger on waves 8-21.

Ogre
- Attack speed: 1.36 → 1.34

High usage rate. Ogre still crowds out other options, notably from waves 7-14.

Needler
- Rapid Fire: Attack speed increase: 40% → 35%

High win rate.

Waves

Wave 7: Sludges
- DPS: Unchanged
— Damage: 20 → 19
— Attack seed: 1.38 → 1.45

Pack Leader is rarely better than Mimic or Brutes on wave 7. This change makes Pack Leader a more viable send.

Wave 14: Killer Slugs
- Health: 2050 → 2070

Wave 15: Quadrapuses
- Health: 2250 → 2230
- Giant Quadrapus: 9000 → 8920

Shifting some power from wave 15 to 14

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If specific units/spells are being more closely monitored than usual, they will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:

  • Howler & Sunfang
  • Gatling Gun & Vulcan Cannon

Improvements & Fixes

Improvements

  • Options: You can now toggle on/off special buttons in the Ping Wheel to customize it to your liking [Screenshot]
  • Look & Feel: Dissolve Effects: Now neutral colored (gray) for deaths. It was distracting a little too much from the battle.
  • Look & Feel: Mana Bars: Now yellow colored if the unit is unaffected by mana regen/restoration, such as Infiltrator/Orchid stacks or Dwarf Banker/Big Wig stacks.
  • Legion Lord and Legion King now increase in size with each stack of Indomitable.

Fixes

  • Match Updates: Fixed some rare cases where ratings & other statistics didn’t update after a match when a service provider was experiencing an unusual slowdown
  • Gameplay: Weekly Challenge: Anglers and Bounty Hunters now always start with maxed mana, to prevent unintended strategies with Sacred Steed & Pegasus where you’d max their mana to funnel their mana elsewhere.
  • Gameplay: Achievements: No Time To Waste: Now achievable when winning any game on wave 7 or earlier (after Tenacity changes, winning a game on wave 5 or earlier has become too difficult to achieve)
  • HUD: Fixed a bug where buff stacks did not refresh on the HUD in some circumstances (such as Holy Avenger/Sovereign max stack attack count)
  • Tutorial: Fixed a rare bug where a player with an older account would be unable to reach level 2 if the game thought they already completed the tutorial
  • Tutorial: Fixed a rare bug in the Incoming mission where the bot would build an opener that cleared very quickly, which would make the mission impossible
  • Postgame: Fixed a bug where games against Diamond Bots were missing the Play Again button
  • Masteries: Fixed a bug where claiming a mastery gave more Essence than intended
  • Stability: Fixed a rare case where a specific firewall (“Emerging Threats”) was wrongly detecting certain game traffic as malicious

With this update, we are excited to introduce DWARVES to Legion TD 2! It's about time, ain't it lads? Dwarf Banker & Big Wig have some unique mechanics that will reward wave prediction and introduce new openings.

We're also excited to continue improving the Emote system; we are hoping that these UX improvements will unlock the joy of Emote spam for everyone.
