v10.06.5
More hotfixes, as well as a feature that was intended for v10.06, but needed a little more QA until now.
New
Added Accept/Decline buttons to the Match Found popup. This was an often-requested feature to prevent players accidentally joining games they didn't intend to. You can easily switch back to the old "Auto Accept" behavior in Options --> Interface.
Reverted for now while we investigate bugs.
Improvements
Players who are server-muted, but also on your friends list, are now no longer muted by default
Major Fixes
Fixed a bug where Quest progress would be reset for players who received an Inbox message
Fixes
Fixed a long-standing bug where profile playstyle graphs were incorrectly rendered for non-English languages
Fixed a bug where Play Again didn't work for some Play vs. AI queues
Fixed a couple minor localization issues
Fixed a bug where the first few seconds of the game's startup music ignored your volume settings
Fixed a case where the Randomize Background setting did not work correctly (thanks Irydion!)
Fixed a bug where gold cost tooltips were incorrect after playing a Weekly Challenge, then playing a regular game afterwards
Treant stacks are now loaded properly in -load builds

Team Sign-up Instructions
Sign-ups are open from NOW until July 22 at 9am PST / 6pm CEST.
To sign up, find a teammate and form a party. After you're both in the party, have one player type "/signup [team name]" (e.g. /signup Snail Kings) in chat. You should see a confirmation message that your sign-up went through. For those who participated in previous Nova Cups, you no longer need to do /join to signup.
The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. View the team list to see your sign-up position and division.
If there are more than 32 teams checked in, there will be an additional best-of-1 qualifying round to allow more teams to participate. It is a best-of-1, rather than a best-of-3, to keep the event from running overly long.
You may sign-up as a solo with a suggested team name using the "/signup [team name]" command. Solo teams will be added to the Public Teams list, then be formed into teams on the day of the tournament. Solo teams will be randomly assigned a team name from either of its members.
If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.
It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.
See you on July 22th! The Nova Cup will be casted and streamed at twitch.tv/ltd2. Check the Tournament Discord on the event day for links to the other casts.
Sincerely, Your Legion TD 2 Tournament Staff

Emotes now display a graphic on the ground, like a ping, in addition to next to the power score graphic.
Emotes now take into account fog of war. This means you can use emotes to communicate with allies during the build phase, without being worried about giving away information to your opponents.
Emotes can now be enabled/disabled in Options (Screenshot). Enable only your favorite emotes and leave the rest disabled keep the window lean & easy to use.
Tutorial & Campaign Voiceovers
The entire Tutorial and Crystal Coast Campaign have been upgraded with voiceovers! This is part of our effort to improve the game’s first impression on new players who will be joining during the Play-For-Free weekend!
New Player Quests
The Game Coach now gives new players some introductory goals to achieve in Ranked games. These quests can only be completed once and are intended to ease new players into Ranked play.
A future update may expand upon the quest system, but for now we’re focusing on the new player experience in anticipation of new players during Play-For-Free weekend.
New AI difficulties

Game Balance
General
Workers - Train time: 2 seconds → 3 seconds
Full pushing workers in base races is common in high Elo. While this is an interesting strategy, it’s too strong.
Legion Spells
Glacial Touch - Damage: 45 → 50
Low win rate and pick rate.
Hero - Damage and damage reduction: 5% → 4.5%
High win rate and very high pick rate, Hero has been a staple pick for years. Nerfing it to give other spells a chance to shine.
Protector - Health: 700 → 650
Very high pick rate.
Titan - Health: 1350 → 1300
High pick rate and win rate.
Fighters
Fire Archer - Attack speed: 0.89 → 0.91
Dark Mage - Mana regeneration decreased by 7%
Shifting power from Dark Mage to Fire Archer.
Sacred Steed / Pegasus - Mana regeneration decreased by 4%
Being conservative because (1) the win rate isn’t particularly high, and (2) small regen nerfs can be the difference between holding and leaking 50% of the wave.
Eternal Wanderer - Attack speed: 0.85 → 0.88
Low win rate and pick rate.
Eggsack - Health: 2300 → 2400
Low win rate and pick rate. Encouraging Eggsack opening.
Last patch’s rework has accomplished its design goals, but the wave is slightly weak.
Balance Watchlist
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If specific units/spells are being more closely monitored than usual, they will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
Gatling Gun & Vulcan Cannon
Systems
New Player Experience: Playing Classic now requires your account to be level 3+. This is meant to steer new players towards Ranked, which offers much fairer matchmaking. As always, players can still be invited to a party and queued up for Classic, even if they don’t meet the level requirement.
Profile: Tactician profile playstyle is now based on Pressure Applied rather than # of waves skipped
Campaign
Victra (Hard) - Mythium gained per attack: 0.5 --> 0.45
Some recent AI improvements made her too strong. This tweak keeps her mortal, but just barely.
Improvements & Fixes
Improvements
Graphics: Added "Dissolve FX" upon unit creation & death that are colored corresponding to your player color. You can switch back to the old fade in/fade out effect in Options, if you prefer.
Performance: Various optimizations to make the game run smoother. The loading screen may take a little longer as a tradeoff.
Look & Feel: Startup screen now features a new animated logo
Look & Feel: Menus improved with various smoother animations/transitions
Look & Feel: All references to “Hire” mercenary have now been changed to “Send” mercenary, to be consistent with pings & the language that players use. This also better communicates to players that mercenaries are sent to the opponent’s lane, rather than defending your own lane.
Tutorial: UI visual improvements for more consistent style
Tutorial: Game Coach is now disabled for tutorials (he would give wrong/misleading advice, plus it was information overload)
Tutorial: Fixed a bug in the Incoming mission, where mythium would be incorrectly still gathered on wave 1 after failing the mission & restarting
Tutorial: Saving mission now speeds up the wave timer if you’ve finished spending your gold
Profile: “NEW!” is now only shown if you earn an item for the first time, rather than gaining 1 more of an item you already have
Fixes
Weekly Challenge: Fixed a bug where challenge games were being picked from lower rated games (~Diamond) than intended
Campaign: Fixed a bug where campaign opponents didn’t repick their mastermind playstyle after a Restart
Campaign: Fixed a bug where campaign opponents sometimes built an unintended opening after a Restart
Legion Spells: Fixed a bug where upgrading a fighter after picking a Legion Spell wouldn’t allow you to place the Legion Spell on that fighter

Closing Remarks
With this update, we are excited to make Legion TD 2 more accessible for newer players. The more new players that stick around, the better matchmaking will be, and the more funding the game will have for ongoing development.
We're doing our best to get the word out, but we'll also be relying on you - existing players - to help us. Even if it's as simple as actively playing the game and being kind to your teammates, you make a difference!
Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.
If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short (hopefully positive ) review for the game! If the game reaches 90% positive, Steam will give it more visibility = more players!
If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!
And as always, if you have constructive criticism, let's chat about it. Discord and reddit are our main channels of communication, and aside from the development team, there are community helpers who can ensure your feedback is heard, as well as answer pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about the game. If you want a guaranteed answer from the devs, the monthly AMAs on /r/LegionTD2 are your best bet.
Sincerely, The Legion TD 2 Team

Every premium essence purchase goes towards supporting the game’s continued development. Thank you to everyone who continues to support the game. Without your support, the game would not be where it is today.

New Unlockables
Cool off from the summer heat with three new summery skins, including one more honorable mention from the community skin competition!
New Skin: Beach Party Cannoneer
Original concept by Drachir
New Skin: Tropical Imp
New Skin: Cryo Fire Lord
New Cards: Campaign, King, and Worker Cards
Introducing new collectible cards for the 14 campaign opponents as well as Earth King, Sky King, and Worker! - These are standard (non-secret) cards with legendary rarity - These cards are only obtainable via the Card Trader (they cannot be found in-game)
Game Balance
General
Haste (4v4 Dual Building) - Attack speed bonus to enemies: 2% → 3% - AOE reduction for enemies: 45% → 47.5%. This nerf also affects Hades’ Necromancy.
Dual building is too strong when mastered and is currently a point of frustration.
King - Upgrade Regen: 0.005% → 0.006%
Right now if your king takes too much damage, upgrading regen often seals your fate by giving up too much pressure. A regen buff makes recover + scale a viable alternative.
High win rate. Shifting power from the ability to autoattack damage to make it more consistent with Banana Haven. Still an overall nerf.
Gateguard / Harbinger / Lord of Death / Hades / Shadow Dancer / Dread Knight - After a summoned unit has been alive for 50 seconds, it starts degenerating 10% max health per second
Weaker when holding for teammates, which was a point of frustration.
Mercenaries
Witch - Attack speed: 1.43 → 1.35
Still the top performing mercenary.
Waves
Wave 6 (Rockos) Damage: 40 → 37 - Impale reworked — Old: Each attack has a 25% chance to deal 150% damage — New: Each attack amplifies damage by 3% (1.5% to the king), stacking up to 10 times
This removes rng from the ability, rewards having multiple units partially tank, and incentivizes cheaper units in the early game.
Balance Watchlist
The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If specific units/spells are being more closely monitored than usual, they will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
Treant + upgrades
Grarl + upgrades
Eggsack
Cartel
Improvements & Fixes
New Mouse Cursor
Long overdue, the mouse cursor has received a modern refresh!
Improvements
Emotes: Added a clickable button to use emotes. We’re still gathering feedback and will likely make other improvements to the emotes system in the future. (Screenshot)
Game Coach: Added the “Randomize Every Game” option in the Shop > Game Coach tab
Matchmaking: Improved match fairness for players with less than 10 ranked games in the current season. For such players, it will take into account last season’s peak Elo. This should greatly improve match fairness at the start of seasons, as well as for players who are returning from a break and starting the season a bit late.
Creditor: Earned gold message now displays “MAX” if you earned max gold (Screenshot) and a percentage if you earned less than max
Postgame Builds: Mousing over a unit icon now shows the unit name
Fixes
King Upgrades: Fixed a bug where a queued king upgrade wouldn’t go through if you hit 20 mythium just before the wave started (Credits to Kidev)
Parties: Fixed a bug where a party invite from a friend in another player’s party would display the invite from the party owner, instead of the friend
Cards: Fixed a bug where Game Coach cards were not able to be donated or sold
Nekomata: Fixed a bug where the max stacks re-texture wasn’t showing up
Known Bugs
Currently investigating a bug from last patch where the main menu background wrongly shows up in-game, preventing player actions.
Community Highlight

King - Health increased by +13% → +3% from waves 1 → 21 - Attack damage and spell damage adjusted by +5% → -4% from waves 1 → 21 - Wave 9’s Deflection now reduces damage from the king by 6% - Wave 18’s Poison-Tipped Pole now deals 40 bonus damage against the king - Removed a health nerf that only previously applied to waves 8 and 19
Buffing the king early game to make leaks to the king less punishing and encourage more workers.
King damage will also be more consistent on waves 9 and 18. Previously, mercenaries like Ogre on 9 and Four Eyes on 18 did disproportionately too much damage, while the waves themselves did unexpectedly little damage.
Back when cheap unit spam was a dominant strategy, cheap units were heavily nerfed. Now that the game has checks against spam, it’s safe to rebuff these units. To test things and avoid disruption, we’re only buffing underperforming units, not adjusting units that would require power shifts (e.g. shifting power from Consort to Buzz). We may consider this in a future patch.
Making sure the meta includes a healthy mix of income sending, short saves, long saves, split sends, coordinated sends, high income mercenaries, power mercenaries, and king ups. There are a lot of levers to adjust these things (mercenary stats, mythium rate, king power, tenacity, leak gold, pillage gold, etc.).
Currently, king damage in the early game is too punishing, so we're buffing the king. We'll continue to evaluate and make improvements. We're always monitoring all aspects of game balance, looking at data, and listening to community feedback.
Improvements & Fixes
Improvements
Game Text: Pirate translation is now selectable via Options > Language. Ya-ha-har!
Pings: Player name is now displayed beneath each ping (Screenshot)
Tooltips: Added a damage type icon and improved readability for all abilities with damage type different than that of the unit.
Performance: Minor improvements to client performance in big battles. This may inadvertently sometimes cause some graphical glitches with missiles; please report a bug if you see them, and we’ll revert the change.
Emojis: Added wp, smiling_face_with_tear, and melting_face (Screenshot)
Spectator HUD: Removed Net Worth & Builds from the main HUD. Scaled larger on 2560x1440 screens. This should improve the Nova Cup viewing experience!
Fixes
Gameplay: Fixed a bug where Sakura’s value calculation was incorrectly increasing by 15 instead of 30 on waves 11+
Gameplay: Fixed a bug where Treasure Hunt did not grant mythium on Wave 21+
Gameplay: Fixed a bug where queued King Upgrades wouldn’t prevent using Embargo and vice versa
Gameplay: Fixed a bug where the “Guild Member” Steam achievement didn’t unlock for guild leaders creating their own guild
Gameplay: Fixed a bug where Fiesta gold was mistakenly given after using Restart in campaigns/AI games
Gameplay: Fixed a bug where Tree of Life’s Devotion buff wasn’t correctly applied after doing a -load build
Postgame: Fixed a rare case where First Win of the Day Essence bonus wasn’t given if the game ended right at the cutoff date
Profile: Fixed a bug where the Game Stats - Openings column wasn’t properly sortable
Client: Tweaked a few client fonts to support displaying non-alphanumeric characters
Client: Fixed a bug where the popup when choosing a guild avatar mistakenly displayed gold/silver borders when it shouldn’t have
HUD: Fixed a bug where the Ready button was mistakenly draggable using ctrl+shift
Card Trader: Fixed a rare case where a reroll was consumed, but didn’t actually reroll the card selection
Stability: Fixed some rare cases of game instability with lots of units

With this update, we are excited to introduce new ways of communicating (Emotes) as well as improve some existing systems (Game Coaches and Creator Codes). We're especially excited for more players to get in the habit of using creator codes, as this will directly support content creators and encourage them to create more Legion TD 2 content! As always, we'll continue to iterate until we get it right, so be ready for hotfixes soon after release.
Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.
If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short review for the game! It really helps get the word out there.

Team Sign-up Instructions
Sign-ups are open from NOW until May 20 at 9am PST / 6pm CEST.
See you on May 20th! The Nova Cup will be casted and streamed at twitch.tv/ltd2. Check the Tournament Discord on the event day for links to the other casts.
Sincerely, Your Legion TD 2 Tournament Staff
