Introducing Our Publishers, Release Date Update, and Discord!

Hi everyone! The past few weeks have been pretty busy and intense (in a good way) for everyone at the studio, but we haven’t forgotten about you. In fact, we have some very exciting updates regarding Legrand Legacy’s release!

Introducing… Our Publishers!

We’re thrilled to announce that we are partnering with two esteemed publishers for the release of Legrand Legacy. ANOTHER INDIE will be working with us for our worldwide launch, while MAYFLOWER ENTERTAINMENT will be taking care of our South Korean players. You might have heard of Another Indie from other premium games, like Lost Castle and Sinner, so we're looking forward to working with them on Legrand Legacy.

Watch out world!

What does this mean for you?

Well, this means that Legrand Legacy will be coming to you in English, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, and a few more languages planned in the near future. This also means that you will be seeing more of us in upcoming events, like GDC or PAX East, so we can say hi to you face to face. Lastly, we hope you’re looking forward to a ton of swags, giveaways, and freebies for Legrand Legacy’s launch because we’ll have LOTS of them!

Release Date & Discord

Our current goal is to release Legrand Legacy for Windows some time in January 2018. We’re still ironing out the details so we don’t have an exact date yet.

In the meantime, we've set up an official Discord (discord.gg/ai) and we cordially invite you to hang out with Henry, AJ, and me, along with fellow Legrand Legacy players for some pre-launch fun. If you have any questions and suggestions about Legrand Legacy or life as a gamedev in general, please don't hesitate to drop by!

Come hang out with us :)

Thanks for Reading

These partnerships are a HUGE deal for us because it means that Legrand Legacy will be able to reach MORE players worldwide, so we hope that you’re as excited to read today’s update as we are. We do have a few more surprises in store, so stay tuned for the next update!

Console Update

Hello backers! As promised, we have some very exciting news to share with you.

WE ARE OFFICIALLY A LICENSED DEV FOR PS4, XBOX ONE, AND SWITCH!

Which one is your favorite, PS4, Switch, or Xbox One?

This means that Legrand Legacy is CONFIRMED for Sony Playstation 4, XBox One, and Nintendo Switch. However, our current focus now remains on completing the Windows version first, which also means that the console games will only be out AT LEAST a year AFTER the PC version is out (some time in Q1 2019 or later).

Our platform lineup is finally complete!

Hope this update made your day just as much as it made ours :) Have a good weekend everyone!

Pictures from Tokyo Game Show 2017

Hi Everyone!

In the last update we announced that we needed additional time to complete the development of Legrand Legacy. To be honest, we were very anxious because we really wanted to deliver our promises on time. However, we also realized that it was much more important to have a polished and thoroughly enjoyable, bug-free game. So for your understanding and kind comments, backers, we THANK YOU!

Tokyo Game Show 2017

In today's update, we'd like to share some photos from Tokyo Game Show which took place on September 21st - 24th. This was actually not Henry and AJ's first TGS. Legrand Legacy was also present in 2015 and 2016, but under very different circumstances. In 2015, we were new and barely had anything to show. In 2016, we brought an acceptable demo, but our booth was not well-designed and a little blah.

The Legrand Legacy crew circa 2016, we looked so much younger then. This game dev business has aged us! :D

This year, however, we had an extensive demo that covered most of the features in the game, including mini games, exploration, craftsmen recruiting, as well as more polished visual effects. We also got the full support of the Indonesian government who provided us with a super shiny booth to showcase Legrand Legacy alongside other up and coming local devs, like Celestian Tales (who recently just completed their Kickstarter campaign) and Forged of Blood. Simply put, it was an opportunity any indie dev would be jealous of and definitely a proud moment for everyone at SEMISOFT *tears of joy*.

This is our third Tokyo Game Show, but the first one where we have a proper BIG banner.

Thanks for playing guys!

You're never too young to start gaming!

Then we met the legendary Takashi Tokita, who was the genius behind Final Fantasy IV - the first game that made Henry fell in love with JRPG #nerdsohard.

Omg omg omg!

On top of that, we had fancy gaming laptops and other gears, courtesy of our friends at Gigabyte and Razer. These were high performance laptops that were sleek, lightweight, and most importantly, easy to travel with. We were very proud to show Legrand Legacy with these laptops.

Fancy gaming laptops courtesy of Gigabyte and Razer.

The best part about TGS? The cosplay, no doubt. We'll share some pictures here and let you be the judge...

Weapons of mass distraction...

Make way for Gundam Unicorn NT-D Mode!

You know you're in Japan when...

Seriously impressed by this costume. What is that even made of?

Thanks for Reading

Hope you enjoyed reading this week's update. We have a very nice surprise for you so watch out for the next update!

A Note on Release Date

Hi everyone!

As September comes to a close, you may have realized that Legrand Legacy's release date will be postponed. As far as game progress, we are actually in the QA stages of development, so we still need more time for bug testing, localization, and generally making sure that Legrand Legacy is as POLISHED and SHINY as it can be. This means that the game will be fully completed some time in Q4 2017.

HOWEVER...

End of the year is typically a less than ideal time for indie games because of the holidays, festivities, and the torrent of AAA releases, which will overshadow games from smaller studios like us. In addition, during Gamescom, PAX, and TGS, we met with a lot of potential publishers or partners, and we are currently in discussion with some of them for possible exciting collaborations (which we'll definitely share with you in the future!). As such, we might have to push our release date to some time in Q1 2018. This also means that we will only be shipping physical rewards to our backers after Legrand Legacy has been released.

IN THE MEAN TIME...

Rest assured that we are still working on the game and the physical rewards. Here's a sneak preview to the limited edition Finn figurine, hand-painted and all!

You like? You like?

Finally, we are very grateful for your understanding. Your input, kind words, and emotional support fuel us and push us to continuously improve on our craft. Once we have a confirmed release date, be it in Q4 2017 or Q1 2018, you will be the first to know!

Legrand Legacy on GOG! || Snapshots from Gamescom & PAX West || Support Celestian Tales & Initiative Red Dawn on Kickstarter

Hi everyone! These past few weeks were filled with many bug squashing sessions in the studio, while Henry & AJ went from airport to airport, all in the name of spreading the Legrand Legacy love. In this update, we'll be sharing some snapshots from our showcase in Gamescom & PAX West.

BUT BEFORE WE START...

Legrand Legacy on GOG!

We proudly announce that Legrand Legacy is confirmed to be available via GOG.com! We know some of our backers are avid DRM-free gamers so we hope you're happy to hear this.

GOG gamers rejoice!

Gamescom - Germany

We often hear that Gamescom is one of the BIGGEST gaming conventions in the entire world. Well, that is 100% positively true. There were ELEVEN massive halls filled with games, people, and more games. Special thanks to Indie Arena Booth for being a gracious and generous host.

Here comes the highlights!

One of the most fascinating things about Gamescom was the strict age rating. We got a rating of 16+ so our booth had to be covered by this special grey wall.

Whoever says gamers like to stay at home?

The Indie Arena Booth has the best setup! Monitors, headphones, and keyboards were provided so we didn't have to pack much from home.

Let's play hack & slash!

This guy went on our hall of fame for setting the high score impossibly high, making it harder for PAX West to beat our challenge!

PAX West - Seattle

First and foremost, we want to say a big THANK YOU to one of our very own backers, Jason Risk, for cosplaying as Kefka and taking a break from destroying the world to help us out at PAX. We'd also like to thank Indie Megabooth for being a wonderful host and to Intel for sponsoring our booth and laptops. Special hugs to Anya from Kickstarter for inviting us to Media Indie Exchange (the MIX) and to Yaprak from GameJolt for having us in your EPIC party with DreamHack!

Now here comes the pictures!

Thank you Kefka... Jason... for being the most eye catching and helpful volunteer ever. Hope you enjoyed PAX in all its crazy, crowded glory!

Our booth was packed like this EVERY DAY. We had to draw lines on the floor so people can wait in line to play. Thanks to Intel for the laptops and gears!

We were nominated Best Indie Game by Marooners' Rock!

Thanks for playing guys, we hope you like the t-shirts!

The cosplay, oh the cosplay, but this guy was our favorite, hands down! Sephiroth FTW!

Behind every successful event, there's a worn out dev who just needs to lie down :D

Support These Kickstarter Projects!

We know first hand that running a Kickstarter is time consuming and NOT easy. So whenever possible, we show our support to promising projects and we hope you will do so too!

First up is Celestian Tales: Realms Beyond, a role-playing game that combines turn-based tactical combat with a story of questionable morals. These guys are NOT Kickstarter newbie and this game is the continuation to their first Kickstarter project, Celestian Tales: Old North.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ekuatorgames/celestian-tales-realms-beyond

Celestian Tales' art was inspired by watercolor brush strokes.

Next is Initiative Red Dawn, a simulator that lets you manage your aerospace company on Earth, establish off-planet bases, and make human life interplanetary by colonizing Mars. If you're a science geek or dream about living in Mars (like I do sometimes), then you might want to drop a few bucks to support this project.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/indelve/initiative-aerospace-business-and-mars-colonizatio

Initiative is a groundbreaking aerospace business simulator.

Thanks for Reading

Now that Gamescom and PAX West are over, it's time to rest at home, right?

WRONG!

The next few weeks will be filled with EVEN more gaming events, including Singapore Toys, Games, and Comics Convention, Tokyo Games Show, and GStar in South Korea.

PHEW!

We hope you enjoyed reading this update and see you soon.

Volunteers for PAX West Seattle, USA (September 1-4)

Legrand Legacy is coming to PAX West courtesy of Indie Megabooth and Intel! The truth is, this was the second time we applied for Indie Megabooth at PAX. Although we failed the first time, we decided to try again and this time, not only did we get selected, but Intel decided to sponsor us! *Excitement level over 9000*!!!

Henry and AJ will be there, but we're also looking for a volunteer to help us out at our booth because the PAX crowd is insane! If you fancy a free pass to PAX West and want to share the joy of Legrand Legacy with the world, please email us at hello@semisoft.co. Last Call for Backers Survey (August 19th)

Whether you're a Kickstarter or PayPal backer, you should have received your backers survey in your emails a few weeks ago. Please complete the survey as soon as possible. We need your most updated email and address to ensure that your digital and physical rewards will be delivered correctly. Most importantly, we are now finalizing most of the scenes in the game, including game credits, Fallen Gladiators of Legrand, and Monument of the Ancient. So please fill out the survey and make sure you tell us the names you want to put in the game according to the tier that you chose.

In the past few weeks, we were also invited to showcase Legrand Legacy at a few events in our hometown, Jakarta, called Game Prime and Pop Con Asia. It was a pleasure to be showcasing along with other Indonesian games, such as Celestian Tales, Forged of Blood, and Fallen Legion. Here are a few pictures from the events.

We are ready to rock Jakarta! YEAHHHHH!

Everyone wants a piece of Finn...

New art work will be unveiled soon!

Thanks For Reading

With a few high profile Kickstarter projects recently hitting the news for failing to deliver their promises (I'm sure you know which ones), we're definitely feeling the pressure to make sure that Legrand Legacy is the best game it can be. Sometimes we may be a little behind on posting an official update here, but you can check out our TWITTER or FACEBOOK for fun Legrand Legacy stuff and daily eye candies.

Before we go, here's a sneak peek at our Finn figurine! What do you think?

Are you ready for some Finn?!

Beta Beta Beta: New Screenshots & Patch

Beta Eye Candies

Hello all! We hope you’re having a grand time exploring Legrand Legacy's new Beta. If you can’t play it, fret not, we have A TON of new screenshots to share with you today. Also, since a picture is worth a thousand words, we'll keep words to a minimum here.

Enjoy!

You finally get to say hello to Scatia, the cold-hearted "century old witch", and everyone's favorite, Azzam. Your team is now complete!

Arkwora is just one of the many epic bosses you'll have to battle during your adventure in Legrand.

Recruit craftsmen, Scout Legendary Blacksmith, and restore Dumville back to it's former glory

Take your entourage around this (seemingly) idyllic fishermen's village, but knowing Finn & friends, troubles are bound to find them wherever they go...

Or maybe you prefer to trek through the lush yet forbidden Gwenelle Forest? Who knows what magical creatures you may find here...

New side quests are now available so don't be shy, talk to those townsfolk!

Let's see if you can put your war general hat on and come up with the best war strategies...

Snapshots from E3 2017 & E3 Week MIX 2017

Hello from Los Angeles

The moment Henry picked up his E3 badge was a special one. This is SEMISOFT’s first E3 and to see it printed on the badge is a very exciting yet surreal moment. We are a small-ish company now but one day, we hope to make games as big as some of these guys in E3.

On top of that, the lady at the counter said, "be careful with this badge, it's worth $1000" - holy smokes! Note that Henry received a free E3 pass, read our last update to find out how: http://steamcommunity.com/games/556740/announcements/detail/1318840070708036688

This is the face of excitement

As it turns out, 3 days simply wasn’t enough to take everything in. Lines were long everywhere! Henry waited in line for over an hour at Square Enix’s booth to play Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (and then got rekt in just 2 minutes *ooh*). Just when he thought the first day was bad, the second and third were even worse as lines grew even longer! In Henry’s own words, “it was worse than Disneyland.”

Personally, Henry felt that most of the new games announced were rather underwhelming, except for Anthem (exclusively on XBox) and Spider-Man (PS4). Dissidia certainly was interesting and Tekken 7 was also fun to watch, but the outdoor esports arena was blazing hot and he couldn't stay for long. Microsoft's Xbox One Box X is a tongue-twister but seemed to lack those WOW factors that would justify the price tag.

Having said that, overall Henry had a lot of fun in his first E3 and we'd like to share some snapshots from E3 2017 with you:

Waited over an hour to play this

HUGE stage for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Playstation's Spider-Man

Senran Kagura: Peach, Beach, Splash, need we say more? :D

Wanted to see Mobile Legends here

E3 wasn't just for the big boys though, there was also a special Indiecade corner for indie games who were lucky enough to score a much coveted space on the E3 floor, such as A Case of Distrust, Detention, Chkn, and One Way Trip. However, the space was rather small and we hope the area will be expanded so that more indie games can participate in the next few years.

Some of the games from Indiecade

All in all, Henry had a lot of fun at his first E3, but the lines were simply too long - we hope this will be improved next year. The division of the halls and areas was also confusing. On the upside, the food trucks parked outside offered a unique Californian experience and Henry had fun trying out some outlandish lunch creations, such as a Japanese-inspired chicken katsu curry burger and a fusion chicken shawarma burrito - only in Los Angeles, right? :)

E3 Week MIX 2017

The FIRST highlight was showcasing Legrand Legacy in Media Indie Exchange (MIX), where we met with fellow devs and new media friends. Most people were excited to hear Legend of Dragoon and Suikoden as sources of inspiration and the comment we most often heard was "I know someone who will like this game."

Ready to rumble at E3 Week MIX 2017

The SECOND highlight was meeting one of our Kickstarter backers, Hugh, who has so kindly volunteered to represent Legrand Legacy in this event. Thank you Hugh!

A selfie with our backer-volunteer, Hugh!

The THIRD highlight was making it to Dual Shockers’ list of Best Indie Games From E3 2017! Thank you Azario Lopez & Dual Shockers, we are honored to be listed alongside our friends from Sundered, A Hat in Time, Children of Zodiarcs, and other wonderful gems that were shown at the MIX! Read more here: http://www.dualshockers.com/best-indie-games-e3-2017/

Thank you Dual Shockers!

Thanks for Reading

We hope you had fun touring around E3 and MIX 2017 with us. Don't forget to check out our Twitter - https://twitter.com/LegrandLegacy - for additional short videos from E3 2017, including Tekken 7, Quake, WRC 7, and many more. Hope you're having a fun summer and we'll see you again next week!
