A few weeks ago we extended a volunteering invitation for our Kickstarter backers and thanks to your warm response, we can finally showcase Legrand Legacy in E3 WEEK MIX 2017! As you're reading this, Henry has just arrived in Los Angeles after an almost 24-hour long flight. He's a little jetlagged but very much looking forward to meeting our backer-volunteer.
Legrand Legacy in E3 Week MIX 2017!
We are very proud to have been selected to participate in this curated event alongside our friends from Sundered and Monster Prom, as well as other awesome games! This event is also a HUGE deal for us because it will hopefully give us plenty of exposure during one of the biggest and most important gaming events in the entire world. So friends, please wish us the best of luck!
More than 50 fine indie games will be participating in E3 Week MIX 2017
If you're a member of the press, someone looking for fresh let's play materials and streaming contents, or interested in partnering with us in any capacity (we're looking for a publisher), please email us at hello@semisoft.co so we can set up a meeting in either E3 or the MIX.
How to Get a Free E3 Pass
E3 has traditionally been industry-centric, however, this year they've decided to open their doors to the general public. Tickets don't come cheap but if you're working in the gaming industry, you can actually get a complimentary 3-day show floor pass complete with 5 meeting requests.
See you in E3
To qualify for a complimentary pass, you have to show "direct and current professional affiliation to the interactive entertainment industry" by providing two credentials that are listed here: https://www.e3expo.com/attendee/2907/industry-identification-qualifying-credentials/. Note that registration was closed less than 2 months prior to the event, so don't forget to apply early next year.
Despite being open for public, E3 remains pretty much a stomping ground for the big boys of the gaming industry. Booth prices are, sadly, not indiedev-friendly, but we hope E3 will continue to evolve to allow more indie developers to showcase our games in the next few years!
Thanks for Reading
We hope you'll be able to take advantage of the tips above. If you can't come to E3 or MIX, but are curious to see more from Legrand Legacy, please email us at hello@semisoft.co.

Last Day for Crowdfunding, Language Poll, Beta Announcement, and We’re Back from BitSummit Kyoto
Last Day for Crowdfunding
Thanks everyone for making our Kickstarter and PayPal crowdfunding campaigns a smashing success! However, as we near our launch date, we have to close our PayPal page soon so we can get an accurate final tally for all rewards.
The last day for our crowdfunding campaign is MAY 31 (11:59 pm PDT).
If you want to snap up the game at a lower price than MSRP, get your name immortalized in the credits section of the game, as well as other limited edition collectibles and exclusive in-game starter kits, please click here to contribute: https://paypal.legrandlegacy.com/
Thanks for your help! Every bit of money, retweet, and share, will help us make Legrand Legacy an even better game and experience for everyone. We hope we can reach the final few stretch goals before we close our crowdfunding campaign forever.
We are so close to the next stretch goal!
Language Poll
Another big decision we have to make is which languages we should localize Legrand Legacy to. We’ve narrowed down our options to the three most requested languages: Spanish, French, and Japanese. However, if you want to play Legrand Legacy in another language that you think we should consider, please choose Others and leave your comment.

Beta Announcement
As promised, we have been working very hard on Legrand Legacy's Beta. The good news is that we will be sending Beta keys to Kickstarter and PayPal backers in the Explorer (£40) tier and above on JUNE 1! The entire team has been pretty much operating on zombie mode for the past few weeks, but we all hope that you will enjoy playing Legrand Legacy's Beta.
See you in Beta on June 1!
Hope to See You Again BitSummit!
After two long weeks away from home, Uwil has finally landed back home! In short, BitSummit was EPIC. It was definitely THE BEST event we have ever been to and as icing on the cake, we met a few of our very own Kickstarter backers there! Hope everyone appreciates the new t-shirt packaging, which was rolled and labeled personally by... yours truly. Oh, just in case you're wondering, that egg-like character is Mayumaro, a silkworm cocoon who happens to be Kyoto's official mascot.
A collage of BitSummit goodness
Uwil had one day to explore Kyoto, so he decided to try some local delicacies, from home-made tofu, katsu rice, to green tea cookies and desserts. Uwil spent the rest of the day exploring the famous orange Fushimi Inari Shrine and the bustling Nishiki Market, as well as drooling over an authentic Persona5 art book and the widest selection of Gunplas he has ever seen!
Snapshots from Uwil's one day trip around Kyoto
You may recognize Luke and Anya’s names from your biweekly Kickstarter Games newsletter, but what you may not know is that they are the most hilarious and hardworking duo in the entire crowdfunding world. Our biggest thanks go out to Luke and Anya for being the most gracious and entertaining hosts. Thanks for offering Uwil a place to stay (because I booked an Airbnb at the wrong location), thanks for taking him out to dinner, and most of all, thanks for offering us the opportunity to showcase Legrand Legacy in one of the best indie game events in the entire world!
Uwil, Luke & Anya from Kickstarter Games, and team Sumer
We hope we’ll get the chance to showcase our game in BitSummit again next year. In the meantime, Uwil is going to practice his Japanese…

That’s all for this week’s update. We'll report back next week with more updates from Legrand Legacy’s BETA!

Casual Connect Singapore, BitSummit Kyoto, and Surveys for Kickstarter & PayPal Backers
Hello From Singapore, Lah!
It was another insane week for the entire SEMISOFT crew as we continue pulling endless all-nighters to complete the next chapter of Legrand Legacy for our Beta. While things are going full swing back at the studio, Henry and AJ hit the road again to showcase Legrand Legacy, along with other finalists of Indie Prize, in Casual Connect Singapore.
We are an Indie Prize Finalist!
We brought a few BaoBao plushies with us and these lucky folks got to bring one home! Do you like these cuddly BaoBao plushies?
Thanks for giving BaoBao a new home
One of the highlights was live streaming Legrand Legacy with the hilarious guys of @QuitStalling.
Thanks for having us guys
We'd like to thank Yuliya and everyone at Indie Prize for hosting us and a bunch of other game developers at this event. We're always thankful for any opportunity to showcase Legrand Legacy while meeting new friends from all over the world.
Konnichiwa Kyoto!
As we speak, Henry has arrived in Kyoto and is setting up Legrand Legacy’s booth in BitSummit. He’s super happy about the big monitor (this is truly the biggest screen we’ve ever gotten). We’re also sharing the show floor space with three other awesome Kickstarter games: Sumer, La-Mulana 2, and Project Scissors: NightCry.
Such excites!
We’re always impressed by how neat and organized everything is in Japan. It’s the day before BitSummit officially opens and there was no stray cable or unrolled carpet in sight.
Biggest screen we've ever gotten
Alas, Henry’s first day in Kyoto proved to be rather eventful as I have accidentally booked him an Airbnb at the wrong location. Apparently Miyakomesse (where BitSummit is held) and Kyoto Conference Center are not the same thing. In fact, they’re located in opposite sides of town, 40 minutes apart! If you ever need to visit BitSummit, please don't make the same mistake I did - sorry Henry.
Surveys for Kickstarter & PayPal Backers
Events aside, this week we’ll start sending out surveys to all our Kickstarter and PayPal backers, so we can get your most updated information, including shipping address, t-shirt sizes, the names you want to include in the credits, and other important things or requests. So don’t forget to check your email and fill out those surveys to make sure that you will get the correct rewards on time!
Thanks for Reading!
We can’t thank you enough for joining us on our journey and we hope that you enjoy reading our (mis)adventures through these updates.

Console Poll Results, Tactical War, and Preparing for Japan
Drum Roll Please...
Switch won!
Thanks to Reddit, our poll caught the internet's attention and we received a grand total of 3,495 votes in Twitter and Facebook. At first we thought PS4/PSVita would surely win, but by the end of the poll, about 1,600 Nintendo fans had shown their interest in Legrand Legacy for Switch.
Twitter & Facebook poll results
Now that the poll is over (and with such an overwhelming response for Switch), we have some important decisions to make. We are not a big studio and we have limited resources and budget, so our final decision will be based mainly on economic viability.
The news we posted on Facebook and Twitter
Rest assured whatever console we decide to port to, our Kickstarter and PayPal backers will be the first to know. However, you can still join us on our journey by subscribing to our weekly updates via legrandlegacy.com.
Tactical War
In the meantime, we've been pulling all-nighters in preparation for our Beta launch. One of the biggest features that will be making its debut appearance in our Beta is tactical war.
A GIF literally speaks a thousand words...
We haven't really talked about tactical war in details, but it was largely inspired by one of our favorite mechanics in Suikoden. We had so much fun creating strategies and putting our war general skills to the test while playing Suikoden that we can't help but to include a similar feature in our own game.
Between the great war Mugna Feud and the tactical war feature, you may have realized that Legrand Legacy addresses the topic of war in a few aspects of the game. This is not unintentional and you will learn more as the story unfolds. We also consider this feature to be another story-telling mechanic through which you can experience our 6 heroes' progression.
Unfortunately we don't have a confirmed date for our Beta release yet, but stay tuned!
Konnichiwa Kyoto!
In preparation for our Japan trip, we decided to print a stack of Japanese brochures. This seemed like a good idea at first, but created quite a bit of chaos in the studio when we realized none of us speaks Japanese well (despite the fact that we're all JRPG fans). Thankfully, one of our team members, Aki, decided to roll up his sleeves and helped us with the translation. Hope we made our Japanese backers proud.
BitSummit here we come!
Uwil is very nervous about having to speak in his limited Japanese, but he is definitely looking forward to playing other Kickstarter games that will be showcased in BitSummit. This will be his first time in Kyoto too so if you have any recommendations on places to visit, please let us know!

Thanks for Reading!
It's been a hectic week but we're happy to share all the work that goes behind the scene. We also hope you enjoyed reading this update. We'll report back next week from the Indie Prize floor in Casual Connect Singapore and the Kickstarter Games area in BitSummit Kyoto!

Legrand Legacy on Consoles? PLUS Hide Your Girlfriends!
Should We Port Legrand Legacy to Consoles?
Ever since we took Legrand Legacy on tours, the one question we’ve been consistently getting is “will this game be available in PS4?” After a while, that got us thinking… maybe we should see if there’s a genuine interest for Legrand Legacy on certain consoles.
This is a really big decision for us to make and we really need your help! So please cast your vote for your favorite consoles (i.e. PS4, PSVITA, 3DS, Switch, or XBOX1) through either our Twitter or Facebook in the links below.
Thank you for voting. As our backers, your opinion means the world to us and we can't thank you enough for your support so far.
Hide Your Girlfriends!
On a lighter note, thanks to the kind folks in Indie Prize and Kickstarter, we have been invited to showcase Legrand Legacy in Casual Connect Singapore (16-18 May 2017) and BitSummit Kyoto, Japan (20-21 May 2017). We are very excited about this opportunity and hope that everyone will enjoy playing this labor of love.
Meanwhile, we will be bringing the irresistibly adorable yet cheeky BaoBao along with us. So hide your girlfriends because BaoBao is on the prowl and he's about to steal your hearts (and possibly your gold coin pouch). Singapore, Japan, you've been warned!
Just like our previous events, we’ll be giving out some #LegrandLegacyGiveaway goodies via Twitter and Facebook. We are still finalizing the details, but we promise they are going to be irresistible! We hope you’ll take the time to participate and have a little fun from the comfort of your home. Who knows, you might even win a Beta access or other awesome swag!
That's all for this week's update, we'll be back next week with more pictures from the Indie Prize show floor in Casual Connect Singapore.
Does any of our Singaporean backers care to share the best places to visit in town? :)

Captain Jamaal – The Lighthearted Sailor
Hi everyone, welcome to another weekly update! By now, we have introduced so many characters, starting from the main ones like Finn, Aria, Eris, Kael, Azzam, and Scatia... all the way to double trouble, Gunther and Roland, the enigmatic Mysterious Hooded Man, as well as Rungdahl and Nugaria. Just when you think you’ve seen them all, there’s actually one more character you simply have to meet, Captain Jamaal!
Captain Jamaal is a brave yet reckless sailor who has dedicated his life to the sea, proudly sailing in his signature ship, The Prancing Lion. Ironically, he also lost his entire family to a colossal beast of the sea, who attacked his ship while they were on an expedition together. Since then, he has made hunting and killing this creature his only purpose in life.
Despite his troubled past, Captain Jamaal remains lighthearted and always finds humor even in the most depressing situations. His witty remarks and off-color jokes often prove to be a refreshing comic relief, while his strong sense of justice and camaraderie also make him a valuable addition to Finn’s crew.
Click here to view the 3D model for Captain Jamaal.
So what do you think about Captain Jamaal? We love reading your comments so please leave your thoughts below!
Nugaria - Smart, Young, and Deadly
As part of our Social Media Bonus Goal reward, we promised to include a new recruitable War General. Today we thought we'd let you have a sneak peek to Nugaria, a smart, young, and opinionated War General who was created with our Kickstarter backers in mind.
Nugaria is an adept general commanding a battalion hailing from the kingdom of Altea. Though still at a young age in comparison to the other generals, Nugaria has proven herself worthy of her rank. She joined the Altean army at a mere 16 years old and has since proven to her superiors that her combat prowess is to be respected by allies and feared by enemies.
Although she can wield many different types of weapons, her weapon of choice is a dagger. Her lightning fast speed and powerful moves make Nugaria a deadly and fearsome combination. Nugaria also does not neglect her mind like many of her peers do. She studies in the ways of the war as much as she practices her dagger skills.
Fiercely loyal to the royal family of Altea, it is rumored that she in fact harbors feelings for one of the princes. Nugaria also too often wears her heart on her sleeves and isn't afraid to speak her mind, which often get her into hot water. Regardless of her shortcomings, she is a great valuable asset to the Altean army.
What do you think about this smart young War General?
New Gameplay Video & Screenshots From the Alpha Demo
Check Out These New Eye Candies!
Hi everyone, thanks for playing the Alpha demo and for reporting the bugs you encountered during your adventure with Finn and his friends. We are currently working on crushing each and everyone of them, so hopefully we can get most issues straightened out for Beta.
In the meantime, we made a short video to give you a quick look at how Legrand Legacy has improved since Pre-Alpha.

For the Dreamers...
A Song for the Dreamers in All of Us
For today’s update we want to share a new original soundtrack titled “Eris’s Diary Theme”. Eris is a healer, a kind-hearted soul, but above all... a dreamer. Despite her weak physical condition, Eris never gives up on her dream to explore the world and she shares everything she hopes to experience in her little diary. We hope you’ll enjoy this soothing piece.

Have You Heard of Pine?
Pine is a gorgeous action adventure game inspired by the adventures of Link in the Zelda-series, the intriguing nemesis system of Shadow of Mordor, Fable's choice-dependent progression and the dance-like combat of Bloodborne.
So far they have raised more than 80% of their €100,000 goal with 4 days remaining in their campaign. Help these 6 students make their dream game a reality! You can read more about the dev's story in their Imgur post.
That's all for today's update. We hope you’re enjoying your journey through the new regions in our Alpha demo. There are a bunch of new features added so don’t forget to chat with random strangers you meet in the street - you’ll never know what they have to offer or what story they have to tell.
