Lemnis Gate is full of opportunities to defeat your opponent, flex your creative thinking and come out on top thanks to expert planning and analysis of the battlefield. However, we know that some of you want to show this to the world and see where you stand amongst the world’s best. In this post we'll be discussing Ranked Mode and how it will work.
In Lemnis Gate players can engage in competitive (Ranked) matches to climb the game's ranking system. Ranked Mode is the place to be for those of you with a competitive streak. In Ranked Mode you'll be able to compete against other players with the goal of raising your rank and getting the top position on the leaderboards. There's also the added bonus of bragging rights for reaching the top.
Ranking Up Lemnis Gate’s ranking system comprises of five ranks. With each rank broken down into five tiers: Starting at tier 5, a player must reach tier 1 before moving up to a new rank. Below you can see an example of a "Gold 1" player:
All players will start out in Bronze Rank. From there you will need to work your way up through 5 tiers, from 1 to 5, before you're able to advance to the next rank. There are five available ranks:
Your Rank information is displayed in the top-right corner of your screen in the game's menus, indicating your current rank and tier.
Below you can see an example of the aforementioned information displayed on the top right:
Ranked Progression To increase your rank, you’ll need to partake in Ranked matches. To advance to a new tier/rank, you must obtain six wins. In Lemnis Gate, every win grants the player a node, while a loss will take one of your nodes away.
When moving up in the ranking system, you will start with two nodes upon promotion to a new tier/rank. This is to prevent you from being immediately demoted again if you lose your next match, which could lead to hopping between two ranks.
Match Eligibility and Exceptions All Game Modes (Domination, Seek & Destroy, Retrieve XM, and Deathmatch) and Game Types (1V1 Turn-Based, 1V1 Simultaneous, 2V2 Turn-Based, 2V2 Teammates Play Together, 2V2 Enemies Play Together, and 2V2 Simultaneous) are available to be played in a Ranked environment.
There are, however, two exceptions where you won't be able to play Ranked matches to avoid "rank farming." As follows:
We hope you enjoyed this overview of what to expect from Ranked Mode when Lemnis Gate launches on September 28. See you in the loop!

Coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, 28 September 2021
Reporting in for our final Operative Profile – our series where we look at the weapons, skills, and abilities of Lemnis Gate's deep space operatives. We’ll also be giving you a bit of insight into the Operative’s backstory, and what has guided the path of their lives until the time we are playing in. Your teams are made of specialists in their fields, from soldiers to scientists, which have been brought together by Lemnis Industries to help save humanity from utter extinction.
This week’s profile features Quentin Anderson, an operative known by the codename “Rush”. A decorated soldier, he jumped at the chance to test early versions of Lemnis’ Kinetic Booster. Speed is where he excels, so we can’t wait to see what quick-witted strategies you come up with to best put him to use.
[previewyoutube="aPma2ORq3I8;full"]
Before joining the military, Quentin grew up on the sunny shores of Jamaica and takes great pride in his cultural heritage. Due to this, when he’s not deployed or training, he prefers to take it slow and spend time enjoying the little things in life. Still a kid at heart, his favourite down-time activity is snacking on cereal while watching cartoons.
As mentioned prior, Rush was approached by Lemnis Industries as they saw his skill and speed in the field and knew he’d be the perfect candidate to test their Kinetic Booster, and he was thrilled for the opportunity. Similar to a jetpack, he wears this pack on his back during combat and uses it to amplify his already-impressive agility. However, his favourite part is its propulsion technology that allows him to maintain his agility while in midair – luckily his suit is fire retardant!
Rounding out Rush’s arsenal are his Dual Shredders, a pair of double machine guns that fire at a speed that rivals his own – but be wary, their high rate of fire is offset by a low damage output, so you’ll have to be strategic about where you target. His manoeuvrability allows you to get more done per loop than other operatives, so we recommend experimenting with how to work this in your favour.
Depending on the round and the Game Mode you’re playing, how you want to approach utilising Rush may change. During a round of Retrieve XM, deploying Rush early to get ahead of the objective and collect multiple points may put you at an early advantage. However, keeping him until the end and then making the most of his map traversal could allow you to nab any leftover XM from the field. You’ll have to consider your options and pick the best strategy for your gameplay style.
Of course, Rush’s map traversal can help in far more situations than that. By using his Kinetic Boosters, he can clear gaps that would leave other operatives hanging. Use this to your advantage, whether it's Rush-ing to a key moment nobody else could reach to change the tide of time in your favour, dodging a trap that others couldn’t bypass, or more – whatever strategy you use, just don’t forget to keep your wit as quick as his gunfire.
Not only can Rush be used for early advantages and late-game nabs, he can also work great as support for your own team. Did you fail to complete an objective or not do enough damage during a loop? Or perhaps an enemy operative has snagged a target before you could? With Rush, you can fix that. Zipping into the fray as your own backup can get you those last few points to cinch the match. These strategies only scratch the surface of what is possible, as there are so many ways to take advantage of the agility offered to you by Quentin Anderson, a.k.a. Rush. What do you think of him and his abilities? Will you deploy him early in order to get a lead on your opponent, or save him for the final round? We’re sure you’re already thinking of ways to best deploy him, so let us know some of your ideas in the comments!
Welcome to Solitude, one of several off-world sites used by Lemnis Industries in their project to save humanity. We're here to provide you with some intel on the site, to better prepare you if sent there for missions.
As you'll be able to see from the surveillance photos, the Solitude site sits on a snow-covered mountainside, and is surrounded by boulders and ice, meaning it could be a considerably tricky location to traverse; you'll be needing to keep your wits about you.
[previewyoutube="mFuUt5lrAIc;full"]
Legend has it that the name Solitude stems from the site's construction team; starting off as a team of twelve, all but one member died during an extreme snowstorm. In the months leading up to a rescue team arriving on site, the sole survivor worked entirely alone; once back, he never spoke again.
Your mission at the Solitude site will be to assist the Lemnis Gate project in maintaining a steady flow of energy for operations, in one of two ways: either by protecting a pair of Resistors, which contain and stabilize XM to allow us to draw on a near limitless supply of raw energy, or, by destroying these Resistors to prevent potentially damaging energy surges. Either way, unknown assailants are standing by to try and prevent you from reaching your objective.
As you can see from the surveillance photos, the large central bunker is likely to draw the most conflict, with multiple points of entry and little cover leaving you particularly vulnerable to attack as you attempt to make it over to the Resistors. We'd recommend utilising a combination of speed and the little cover you do have here to make it safely across this area and reach the Resistors.
If you're tasked with attacking Resistors, making use of the multiple entry points to the main bunker are a great way to help compensate for your lack of cover as you approach them, and some well-placed sniper and rocket shots mean you'll be able to attack from a safe distance! On the other hand, if you're on the defensive, you're going to want to make the most of Proximity Mines and Attack Pods, particularly on any blind spots, to save you being ambushed by the enemy - and don't forget, toxic chemicals from Toxin's Tox Cannon could be very useful when covering multiple entrances!
Whilst it could be tempting to allow all of the action to play out inside the covered spaces within Solitude, you'd be remiss not to take advantage of the ice-covered pathways and the additional cover they provide; whether you're attacking or defending the Resistors, this space could be perfect for ambushing the enemy as they attempt to utilise one of the various bunker entrances and exists, and may prove a useful space for some Proximity Mines and Attack Pods.
Good luck out there, Operatives. Don't forget: Earth's future is in your hands.

Lemnis Gate Dev Diary #2 | Ways to Play
Welcome, Operatives!
The Quantum Highway has opened once again and a new signal has come through.
The second Lemnis Gate Developer Diary is now available for viewing on YouTube. Game Director James Anderson and 3D Artist Corey Kasperski from Ratloop Games Canada, and Community Manager Jens Erik Vaaler from Frontier break down the game's Modes and Match Types.
If you're unable to watch the Dev Diary, we've gathered the core information about Lemnis Gate's Game Modes and Match Types below.
Game Modes: Players will be able to enjoy 4 separate Game Modes in Lemnis Gate: Retrieve XM, Domination, Seek & Destroy, and Deathmatch. Each puts a unique spin on FPS staples thanks to the 25 second time loop mechanic at the center of Lemnis Gate's gameplay:
Which Game Mode sounds the most exciting to you? Will you challenge your friends in Retrieve XM, or take them to task in Deathmatch? Let's hear what your favourite is!
Match Types: In Lemnis Gate, there are multiple ways to play the game, depending on your preference. These can be mixed and matched by number of players and how you want the turn-based time loop mechanic to play out.
Online play is the fundamental experience of Lemnis Gate, where you'll be matched against opponents of a similar skill level through our matchmaking system in the different Match Types. However, due to the turn-based nature of Lemnis Gate, one of the great additional features of the game is that you can play offline by passing the controller back and forth between players in the same room.
Cross-matchmaking is also available! This is an optional feature that enables you to play against Operatives from any platform, however if you’d prefer to only play against Operatives on the same platform this can be changed in the settings. In addition, those who are looking to challenge their friends can do so in private matches as long as you’re on the same platform. Private matches may not reward XP, but you will be able to determine who has the ultimate bragging rights between you and your friends!
There are a lot of different ways you can play Lemnis Gate and we hope you now have a better grasp of the Game Modes and Match Types you have available in the game. Don't forget to follow us on all our social channels: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. You should also join the official Lemnis Gate Discord server to talk everything Lemnis Gate with the rest of the community and the developers from Ratloop Games Canada.
Operative Profile - Toxin
Greetings Operatives!
Welcome back to another Operative Profile, our series of articles exploring the weapons, skills and abilities of the different Operatives you'll be playing as in Lemnis Gate. We will also be discussing some of the lore and backstory that have guided their lives up to this point, and maybe even diving into some of their likes and dislikes. The team is made up of highly trained, highly specialized individuals, from soldiers to scientists, that have been brought together by Lemnis Industries to help save humanity from utter extinction.
This week we're introducing you to Toxin, a former environmental activist who dominates the battlefield by using toxic materials to create traps and then can quickly disengage using a short range teleporter. She is a lean, green, environmentally conscientious machine, and we can't wait to see what you think of her.
[previewyoutube="Mj9HivT9UAE;full"]
Ruolan Fang, a.k.a. Toxin, grew up in China and was a frequent contributor to furthering the green movement before joining Lemnis Industries' Operatives. In addition to her work alongside various environmental organizations, Toxin eventually took a keen interest in bio-weaponry after joining a classified unit of a Special Operations team, giving her experience in combat as well as weapons manufacturing and engineering.
In her down time, Toxin enjoys watching science documentaries to decompress and stay up to date on new developments in the scientific world. It also allows her to improve her critical thinking skills. Toxin is an avid gamer with a preference for fighting games, and will often challenge other Operatives to matches now and then. She remains Lemnis Industries' reigning champion in "Road Pugilist 3". Her quarters always smell great thanks to all the scented candles she's constantly burning. Other Operatives believe it's to mask the smell from her equipment.
Her work with collecting and compressing pollutants inspired Toxin to create her Tox Cannon weapon. Toxic material is stored in tanks on Toxin's back and then funneled into the cannon itself via a series of tubes and pumps. The cannon then compresses it into projectiles, which fire at high speed. While the poisonous projectiles don't do a lot of damage on impact, they will coat the ground in acidic and poisonous material, creating a small area that will continuously damage anyone who steps in it. Toxin herself is immune to these effects, thanks to her specially adapted protective suit and mask.
Rounding out Toxin's arsenal is her Displacer, a little something she cooked up after coming under Lemnis Industries' payroll. This small throwable object acts as a short range teleporter, quickly shifting Toxin's position to wherever it lands. It's a highly valuable tool for moving Toxin in and out of combat or between engagement zones.
Toxin's main value on the battlefield lies in her ability to use the Tox Cannon for area control. She can easily move between skirmishes thanks to her Displacer, meaning you can use Toxin to really control the battlefield and deny critical pathways the opponent might be using!
How you want to approach each situation depends on the round and the Game Mode you're playing. A blanket of toxic material near mission objectives will usually go a long way, but we also recommend finding tight areas on the map where the poison can cause a little extra damage to your opponent's operatives.
If you deploy Toxin in the first round of a match, placing Toxic Materials in any areas you suspect your opponent will want to use is likely the best strategy. Mid-match she can be used to pick off stragglers you might not have taken out previously, for example by closing off any escape routes for low-health enemies. The same strategy is also viable in the later rounds of a match, but be careful: Toxin's projectiles also damages her teammates, so watch where you spray it!
These basic strategies are just the tip of the iceberg, and there are numerous other ways you can utilize Toxin in a given match. With skill and planning you can paint your enemies into a corner and then instantly escape from their eventual counterattacks. We hope you will experiment and figure out new and interesting ways to deploy this Operative.
We hope you've enjoyed this introduction to Ruolan Fang, a.k.a. Toxin. Out of everything she can do, what stood out to you? Are you already thinking of ways you can dominate the battlefield using Toxic Materials? Let us know in the comments below.
We'll continue to share more about the other operatives in this series over the coming months so we look forward to seeing you there. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube, or join our Discord server to chat with the community and get exclusive reveals. Finally, don't forget to add Lemnis Gate to your wishlist on Steam or the PlayStation Store.

Welcome Operatives, to our third Entering the Loop article!
This week we're taking a look at the game's lore to give you a brief overview of what's guiding the motivations of Lemnis Industries and the team of deep space operatives. If you're a fan of science fiction stories and time travel, this is definitely one to read!
In the not too distant future, humanity is facing extinction. A designer DNA sequence meant to neuter and reduce violent tendencies in household pets has rendered several mammals, including humans, infertile. Medical experts promised a solution and the world held its breath. As time passed, no solution was forthcoming.
With the medical option not working, governments across the globe turned to other potential solutions, gathering the top minds of their generation to formulate a plan. Eventually the green light was given to the Lemnis Initiative, a collaboration between all the world's governments and Lemnis Industries, a deep rooted private research and development company.
When the terrible news of the world's infertility spread, Lemnis Industries was one of the many companies who stepped up and offered their services. Their groundbreaking plan to prevent human extinction was met by insurmountable relief. Lemnis Industries has been at the forefront of technology for decades, and their current project represents their greatest scientific accomplishments: The Lemnis Gate.
The vision was grand. Nothing of this magnitude had ever been undertaken before. There was nothing to lose, and the math and physics seemed to hold up.
The Lemnis Gate is a name given to a bubble of space around Earth, isolated by a mesh network of accelerators positioned on neighbouring, off-world sites. Once activated, the network will isolate and sever a region of space, propelling everything inside backwards in time by around 50 years. The world will revert to how it was 50 years ago, but with one key difference: Lemnis Gate pioneers will have left three beacons containing vital data that will warn humanity about what lies ahead, just outside the space the Lemnis gate occupies. This message to the past will be unaffected by the time displacement, transmitting a warning message to the earth in the past as mankind's last chance at survival.
So far the project has been in development for several years, and over 85% of the off-world gate sites are operational. However, a troubling side effect has become apparent: Localised pockets of space have become prematurely severed, fracturing the regular flow of time and causing distortions in reality. Parallel universes have begun to intersect and overlap. It turns out this isn't the only version of earth working on a Lemnis Gate project! The frequency of incidents have increased the closer the Lemnis Gate comes to completion.
Teams of operatives from parallel universes are now competing across the different off-world sites in an attempt to be the one who activates their Lemnis Gate network first. Only one reality can ultimately be successful. It's up to Lemnis Industries' highly-trained operatives who were recruited to scout, secure and maintain the off-world sites and defend them from attack. If successful, humanity's extinction will have been averted.
