Welcome to our April Community Wrap-up! We know this post is late and it's now May, but who's keeping track? This year is zooming by for us devs. We've been busy as ever with all things Len, so let's take a breather to reflect on a fantastic month!

Our Release Date Was Revealed!



In case you missed it, we've announced that the big Len's Island 1.0 will launch on June 19th, 2025, with 8-player co-op! We revealed this news in the Galaxies Showcase, which featured our brand-new trailer showing loads of unseen multiplayer gameplay and 1.0 features. It was so exciting for us devs to watch the showcase on Twitch; we were all amazed to see the range of great games releasing this year, too!

The Return of the Void Stomper



If you've been with us from the beginning, you might remember one of the first enemies Julian made for Len's Island... The Void Stomper! We've decided to bring these enemies back in a brand new way. Their spikes are just as tricky to dodge as their ground slam attack, which can throw you into the abyss! Get ready for a challenge, as the Void Stomper will keep you on your toes in the caves and dungeons come 1.0!



Spring Build Challenge



Last week we asked our Discord community to share their most creative builds inspired by the Spring season. Community member, wendercharles won the challenge with their incredibly grand build that takes over an entire cherry blossom island! Do you enjoy building in Len's Island? You can join us on Discord to take part in future building competitions and other fun Len's Island community activities.



The Age of the Ancients



Here's a sneak peek of the new ancient language coming to Len's Island 1.0! We've been listening to the community, and we know that further enhancing the lore in Len's Island is very important to players. So, at 1.0, one of the ways we're adding lore is by implementing a new ancient language system. As you explore the islands in 1.0, you'll discover several ancient tablets built on various islands. With every tablet you decipher, you will learn more about the ancient language, allowing you to uncover the secrets of the past left by the ancient people.

As if voidlings weren't unsettling enough, check out this fan art by Discord member and community translator, Gondamah, showing a creative idea for a Void Shark! While regular sharks will be sticking to the seas in Len's Island 1.0, we do think this would be pretty cool!

Release Date Announcement Trailer

Hey everyone, the time has come, I can finally share our biggest milestone to date.
Len’s Island 1.0 is launching June 19th, 2025!

Before I get into the details, I just want to say thank you all for being part of this early access journey. It means so much to me that there's a whole community backing Len's Island. We've loved hearing all of your feedback over the 3.5 years of early access, and we've added so many of your awesome ideas into the game. This won't stop either, as 1.0 is full of highly requested features. I hope we do Len's Island justice at 1.0 and make you all proud!

Now enough with the soppy stuff, here's our brand new Len's Island Release Date Trailer!

Coming to Len's Island 1.0!



We've been locked in working as hard as we can for the past few months, as we know this release date will come up quickly for us devs! Multiplayer is in the final stages of alpha testing, and we've been creating loads of new content to enhance the Len's Island experience. Whether you're a fighter, farmer, explorer or builder, there'll be something for you when 1.0 releases.



Since our Early Access launch at the end of 2021, it's incredible to look back and see how far we've come with Len's Island. Being so close to 1.0 is such an amazing feeling, and we'd like to say a BIG thank you to all our players (old and new) who have joined us for the journey. We're almost there!

March Community Wrap-Up

It's the end of March, which means another Community Wrap-Up!

In case you missed it, we released a big patch over the weekend, which included significant balancing changes and a performance boost. You can check out the patch notes here.

Now, to kick-start our March Community Wrap-Up, let's take a sneak peek at some new content coming to Len's Island 1.0...

It's (almost) Time for Slime!


We've been working on some exciting new areas for you to explore in the caves at 1.0, including a new slime biome. These locations are filled with slime, a valuable new crafting resource collected by mining slime piles. Always keep on high alert in this biome, as you never know what enemies are lurking in the shadows.



The Lore of Len is Coming...


Who is Len? Why did they end up on the island? And what's the deal with no shoes? We'll be answering these burning questions in 1.0! Len has always been a bit of a mystery, so we'll be giving more insight into the story behind Len's Island, and we wanted to share some new artwork that will be coming with the big update.

We Hear You Love Chickens!


We held a vote on X to find out what 1.0 feature you're most excited about. We couldn't list everything new, and co-op multiplayer would be the obvious choice, so we asked you to choose from Chickens, Bows, Slime enemies, or the Final Boss.

To our surprise, you chose Chickens!

Get ready to capture, raise, and gather new resources from your very own chicken farm in Len's Island soon. You'll find chickens free-roaming around the islands, and you can place chicken coops around your home base to give them places to sleep and breed.



Creator Showcase


As developers, it'll forever bring us joy watching the community play our game, Len's Island. We enjoyed seeing 20 Minute Gamer's past stream where they explored the islands, built their home, mastered farming, and saw some speedy tree growth!



Delacroix's Epic Boss Fight


We're always impressed by the screenshots found on the Len's Island Discord and Steam Community. Check out this image by Delacroix - they captured the perfect moment during a boss fight, throwing a special attack that almost looks like a force field. Talk about good timing!

Balancing & Optimisation 0.9.11

Hey everyone!

I have a surprise patch for you all. No new content, but some significant balancing changes, and a significant performance boost :)

As we have been getting the 1.0 version ready, we have noticed the early-game balancing being a bit off. It was a little too grindy and difficult at the start, so I have introduced some of the balancing changes we are implementing for 1.0. These changes keep the core experience and mid-late game the same, but you'll find it a bit quicker and easier to get started in a new game.

The performance changes are pretty big. We've always had some fps dips around the towns and bigger islands. We were able to double fps for most players around the towns and large islands with this update, and overall boost fps by around 30% over the entire overworld. The performance savings will differ for everyone, but overall, your fps will now be consistently higher!

P.s. We will have some more info about 1.0 and multiplayer to share in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

~ Balancing Changes


  • Increased default hotbar slots to 6, removed some of the hotbar skills from the skilltree
  • Halved resource cost for all basic building pieces
  • Reduced resource cost for bed, workbench, and campfire
  • Lowered blue berry sell price and doubled the blue berries dropped from bushes
  • Slightly lowered damage for void and voidling attacks
  • Lowered crafting cost of iron weapons from 3 iron to 1
  • Lowered crafting cost of anvil stone and iron
  • Made hunger drain 30% slower
  • Made full belly healing a 30% quicker
  • Made all stones destroy in 1 less hit


! Optimisations


  • Reworked chunk loading system. Overall improved fps by ~30% on most islands, and now over 50% fps boost around towns


! Bug Fixes


  • Fixed multiple load screen errors
  • Fixed resource notifications sometimes being slightly incorrect
  • Fixed the frozen status effect from the winter islands sometimes not going away after leaving the area
  • Fixed controller navigation breaking in the menu when a user has no save files in list
  • Fixed some errors leading to game crashes

We know many of you enjoyed watching the original Dev Diaries of Julian creating Len's Island back in the day. So we thought it's fitting, seeing as we're close to 1.0, that we take you on the journey with us in a new Dev Diary series! The first video will be released on the Len's Island YouTube channel this week. Don't miss it, as we'll be revealing LOADS of 1.0 spoilers!

New Content Alert!


Here's a little sneak peek of something exciting we're bringing to 1.0... Introducing chickens! Any ideas on what their purpose will be? While we're keeping this under wraps for now, we'd love to hear your thoughts on how these chickens could help you on your adventure. In the meantime, here's a first-ever look at Len chasing these new feathery friends:



Tiny Homes Build Challenge


Over on the official Len's Island Discord, we held a Tiny Homes Build Challenge where we asked players to get creative with limited space. We absolutely loved this oceanic homestead, and crowned Shay the worthy winner! We'll be hosting more competitions soon, so watch this space.



Creator Showcase


Your health is sure to take a hit when venturing through the frozen lands, but FightinCowboy has a solution! We loved watching their past stream where they overcame cold damage by placing down campfires to keep warm. We also thought it was funny that they were then able to get ahead in the game by acquiring Tungsten much earlier than they were supposed to!



Multiplayer Playtests Continue


We've been making progress behind the scenes on our upcoming multiplayer mode, and we wouldn't be where we are without our fantastic playtesters! Thanks to everyone who has played and left us feedback, more playtests are on the horizon. If you'd like to participate, make sure to join the official Len's Island Discord for more information!

We’re partnering with Fireshine Games for 1.0!

Hey everyone!

It’s been an exciting time getting the multiplayer ready as we run alpha tests and inch closer and closer to the big 1.0 release.

Great things do take time, and as we’re a tiny development team, Len’s Island has certainly been a labor of love for the past 7 years - we can’t wait to reach the 1.0 milestone and share everything we have in the works with you all!

It's been difficult for us little devs to do everything on our own for so long, and we've had to sacrifice areas of the game because of this. When we started work on multiplayer last year, we quickly discovered that we could make the game a lot better if we got a helping hand.

With that being said, we have a big announcement to make!



We’ve teamed up with indie publishers, Fireshine Games, to support us with the 1.0 launch so we can guarantee to bring you the best version of Len’s Island possible! We're big fans of their work with other Early Access games like Core Keeper, so we're thrilled to have them on board as a publisher to help us co-launch Len’s Island.

Patch 0.9.041

Hey all! A small patch to fix a few bugs and also add the new Italian translations!

We are hard at work building the new multiplayer-1.0 version of Len's Island, there won't be many patches and updates to the live game for the next few months in preparation for the full release. Then once the full release is ready, it will be the biggest update Len's Island has ever seen.

  • Italian language added to the translations

! Bugs fixed:


  • Fixed enemy navigation issue causing enemy chasing to be unreliable sometimes, especially for the lightning fish
  • Fixed scrolling not working in the armor menu
  • Fixed various translation issues across the game
  • Fixed Act 2 dungeon shortcut spawning player at the start of the dungeon and not halfway thru
  • Updated game credits to include new translators

Len's Island 1.0 Roadmap Update

We've been working incredibly hard on developing co-op multiplayer and other major additions for the 1.0 launch. We've been a bit quiet recently, this is because the roadmap and launch window have changed. I thought explaining it all over a video would be best, so please watch the below!



Important Updates



  • You can play Len's Island multiplayer via the next round of testing in a few days, details are below
  • 1.0/multiplayer launch is delayed until early-mid 2025
  • We've expanded our plans for 1.0, and Len's Island will be even better than expected
  • Sorry for the delay, we've been trying our hardest, and we need more time to finish

Multiplayer Testing



The next closed Alpha test for co-op multiplayer will become available via our Discord server in a few days. If you’d like to participate, please follow the steps below!

How to Join:


1. Join the official Len’s Island Discord.
2. Opt into the Tester role in the #get_roles channel to access the new tester's waiting room.
3. You will be notified when the closed alpha test is released on this channel!
(Make sure you have notifications enabled)

October Community Wrap-Up

October is coming to an end, Halloween is approaching, and it’s time for another community wrap-up! What’s on your agenda this spooky season?

Last weekend our lead dev Julian got a taste of pumpkin farming in real life! It got us thinking… Should we add spooky items like jack-o-lanterns and scarecrows to Len’s Island?!



Update on Multiplayer Testing


We’re full steam ahead developing co-op multiplayer at Flow Studio! With help from some dedicated alpha-testers we’ve been able fix a bunch of bugs, make quality of life improvements, and gain first hand insight into how major multiplayer will be for Len’s Island gameplay!

We want to give a big thank you to everyone who has helped test multiplayer so far. The pool of testers will be expanding very shortly as a new test is set to go live in the next week or so. If you are on our Discord waiting to test multiplayer, we appreciate your patience.



Fishing Build Challenge


Last week we asked our Discord community to share their most creative builds inspired by Fishing in Len’s Island, and we were not disappointed! Community member, wendercharles won the challenge with their wonderful pagoda fishing hut filled with fishing decorations on a cherry blossom island. We just love the colours and creativity in this one!

Get Juicing!


Check out this awesome fan art by community member Toenes! They said that their juicer creation is intended to combine fruit into a juice that when drunk, can boost the health and hunger of a player much more than if the fruits were eaten raw. Such a creative idea to expand on the cooking in Len’s Island!
