Hey everyone,
We have spent the past week optimizing the frame rate over the islands and fixing various issues. During normal gameplay above ground, I found a consistent 10-30 frame boost after our changes. We are still working to improve performance around the towns, although these optimisation changes improve performance over the entire above-world, so the lower performing areas will also get a boost and not be as bad now. Expect even more performance improvements over the next few months. We will keep trying to squeeze as much out of the game as we can to make it better and better.
The plan now is two things, work on the next major update coming March/April, as well as work on another update sooner that will include some more languages, full Steamdeck support, and controller improvements. We want the foundation of Len's Island to be as solid as possible before the next major update and full release. So we will be spending a lot of time over the next few months generally improving all areas of accessibility, controls, and language support.

Rain will now water all tree stumps automatically
Fixed issues causing work chunks to sometimes not load and cause player to fall of the edge of map
Fixed some tree stumps around the town/too close to buildings not re-growing
Fixed issues with level reset areas, so if you ever get a loading issue and fall off the map, you will now respawn back on land and get any boats refunded, instead of just falling
Fixed the new farming planter's not having their crafting cost correctly set
Fixed issue causing the backpacks for sale to not be correct sometimes
Made resources draggable to the hotbar
Added watermelon to all generic storage containers
Fixed dropdown UI in the settings menu not showing the correct labels

So sorry about the bug we introduced last night, we woke up and fixed is as soon as we could.
You will no longer experience freezing when traversing the game world and laoding specific chunks. It has been fixed!

Hey everyone,
We are now back after our short break over Christmas and New Years and we come baring the gift of a new patch! This includes various fixes for issues reported over the past week or so. There will likely be another patch later in the week as well.
Aside from patching the latest update, we are now beginning work on the next major update to come to Len's Island. This next update will be a massive one, similar to what the Uncharted Waters Update did to the game, so get ready!

! Bugs Fixed and Changes Made:
Fixed Wolf and Tiger not spawning during peaceful mode
Fixed the decorator achievement not triggering
Fixed some notifications not showing their text
Fixed issue causing screen to freeze when changing keybinds
Fixed various issues causing loading screen loops after warping
Altered the pet idle sounds to make them less frequent and more varied in volume
Lowered the harvest damage for all non-farming weapons, so it's not so easy to miss-click and accidentally harvest a crop with a sword
Fixed issue causing the cat to sometimes not show until game reload
Added colliders and checking zones to blank areas of the map if a chunk doesn't load, so you cant fall thru you map and cause further issues
Raised the pet collection distance so they run a bit further to dropped items
Fixed invisible colliders in some current/ocean areas
Fixed issues with tree stumps not saving correctly
Altered the parkour sections in the final tomb dungeon to make them generally easier with bigger landings, smaller jump gaps, and longer timing
! Known Issues:
We are still seeing some reports of people occasionally missing chunks of the map in their game worlds. If this happens to you please submit a bug report, as we updated our error logging so we should be able to fix this issue quickly as soon as we get more reports with info.
Quick Patch 0.6.71
Hey all,
Just a quick patch to fix the issue causing some people to get stuck on loading screens. As well as some other small tweaks. We've been fixing bugs right up until Christmas so we are now going to take a couple of days off, so apologies if any issues still persist over the next few days. We will get to them once we are back.

! Known Issues:
Sometimes pets may not spawn in correctly, or the cat in the town will not show, Just go into the caves and come back, or exit to the main menu then reload and they will appear again.
Companions & Languages Update
The Companions and Languages Update is now out!
This major update adds four new pet companions to the game you can unlock, either with their own cool new abilities. Len's Island now has language support for Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, and Thai. We've also scattered many new collectible decorations around the map for you to find!
New Features & Changes
New dog companion that can be unlocked by completing the first dungeon
New cat companion in Bridgewater town that can be tamed using a bait box
New wolf companion only spawns during harvest moons and tamed using a bait box
New tiger companion that only spawns in desert biomes and tamed using a bait box
Dogs and cats will retrieve items off the ground for you, this includes fetching glass bottles on the beach, collecting dark essence, fallen tree logs, and helping you mine
Wolves and Tigers will attack nearby enemies, stunning them for a short period of time and damaging them
New Bait box item which you can store various baits in to attract animals and enemies
Explorers Hat now shows nearby collectible items on the map when equipped
Language support for Simplified Chinese, Spanish, German, and Thai, with more languages to come.
12 new collectible decorations and pet items
New farming planters (large pots that you can plant a single crop in)
Hanging pots and window planter decorations
Major memory usage optimizations across the game
Various bug fixes

6 Years Developing Len's Island
Hi all!
To celebrate the 2 year anniversary since our Steam release, we put together a special video showing how Len's Island started out 6 years ago as my solo project and transformed into what it is now.
It's been a crazy journey to make this game happen. I uprooted my life and dropped everything in an attempt to make my dream game. And somehow I managed to make it work.
Here we are 6 years later, with an awesome game that's getting better every day, and an awesome community to support it.

Optimization Patch 0.6.508
Hello there,
We've been hard at work on optimizations and managed to make a couple of big breakthroughs.
The memory usage of the game has been significantly lowered. Previously during stress tests I was able to get the RAM up to 8-9GB loading as much as possible. After our recent changes, I was unable to get higher than 6GB RAM, with a usual standard of 4-5GB. We are still working towards making this even lower, but this update carries a memory saving of around 2-4GB during gameplay.
This is a massive boost for older machines, and especially people with low RAM installed. As the previous builds could have led to game/pc crashes if it ever got too high.
We have also compressed a bunch of files. allowing us to reduce the game install size from ~6GB to 3.3GB.

Hey all,
A quick patch to fix two major issues, a bug with picking up backpacks and an issue with one of the desert dungeons causing people to get stuck in the loading screen. Both have been fixed and you will now be able to load into the dungeon and pick up any dropped bags.
I'm sorry for the bugs over the past week or so, the game hasn't been as stable as I would have liked after the Harvest Moon update. We're working really hard to fix issues, so whenever a bug is present, we will usually have it fixed within a couple of days.
As for the people experiencing game crashes and performance issues, this is a memory issue we are fixing now. Long story short, the game's memory usage is way too high and we are in the process of making major optimisations to lower it considerably. This will stop the crashes and freezing some people are experiencing. A patch to solve this will be up this week.

Hey everyone,
Just a quick couple of patches to address some performance issues and some rare loading screen/teleporting freezes and crashes.
We are still working to improve the performance and will have a patch out next week to implement some drastic changes to improve memory usage and overall game performance.
Because I'm feeling a bit cheeky, below are some totally unexpected screenshots from some early testing and prototyping of the next update coming before Christmas, which will include:
Multiple pets/companions
New collectible decoration items
Two new languages being supported
Big performance improvements
This is just showing a small few of the items to be added. Of course, all still early-stages work in progress.
