Another important piece of info is that the Liberte's price will be slightly increased after the release. The game is constantly changing, and developers are sweating to give you the best experience possible.

With that said, let's talk about the most recent changes!



Patch 0.14.0



The most crucial elements coming up with Patch 0.14.0:

First of all, the story had a huge makeover.

More than 2,500 lines of dialogue were added to the game. Not characters or words, lines of dialogue! Thanks to that, Liberte's vision of Paris deepens, and its characters become more lively. New lines of dialogue also mean new situations, quests, encounters, and even bosses!



Second of all, thanks to your suggestion, there is now a new guiding system, so you'll never get lost. Follow the flames, and they'll guide you toward the revolution! 🔥

Take that chance and visit multiple locations you haven't accessed before!

🐛Fixed an issue where using a skill while moving would put Rene's basic attack on short cooldown.
🐛Fixed Boss Healthbar rescaling erratically when low on health.
🐛Fixed Flea's missing footsteps sound.
🐛Fixed multiple typos in conversations and tutorial tooltips.
🐛Fixed a bug when replaying prologue right after a mission for the Crown would break it.
🐛Fixed a bug where enemies could sometimes start walking in mid-air.
🐛Fixed an issue where log button in the main menu would sometimes freeze.
🐛Fixed an issue where Bliss Shade would sometimes get stuck between trees.
🐛Fixed an issue when npcs would sometimes suffer in pain when a cutscene starts, or area changes.,

The Origins of the Tribe

Ethnicities & Origins of the Tribe



In Liberte, we can advocate one of four factions. One of them is Tribe, which, according to many, is the most interesting option for anyone interested in the occult and magic. So let's take a look at the inspiration behind this faction and see what motivates it.  

The Tribe constitutes a group of several ethnicities and origins. The mix includes people from the Nordics, Slavic regions, the Caribbean, and many African tribes. Also, due to the changing socio-cultural landscape in the city, poorer Parisians tend to join. This also results in conflict with the Church.

Their religion combines the beliefs of all those origins; therefore, the mythology finds three deities:

Torado is the God of life and death
, and his appearance brings to mind the Caribbean and African descent; Eder rules the sphere of nature (roots in pagan beliefs), meanwhile Grieslund is the God of evil (France).

All the deities are critical to the rituals of the fraction. The Rite of Passage is understood as a kind of funeral. The priest escorts the dead soul through the land of Garcon, all the way to the Gardens of Eder. There, the soul is purified and ascends to Torado's kingdom. Torado sends the cleansed souls back to Earth so that they can watch over their relatives.

The most potent priests can conduct The Ascencion - a massive rite of passage needed during wars or when many dead are not escorted.

Each God has a distinct symbol:



Torado → bones and ornamented skulls (symbols of ancestors watching over their living relatives)



Eder → petals, flowers, and plants (connection with nature)



Garcon → snakes (deceitful animal)

The strive for perfection



The cultists have a solid moral backbone embedded in their religion. They strive for perfection, which means achieving a balance between nature, life, death, and all the other surroundings; the concept of natural evil means that wrongdoing constitutes a part of the life cycle and each individual should diminish the impact of evil but cannot live without its presence; vengeance is an act of pure evil and therefore is not accepted among the believers, as it is as far from the balance as one could be.

Shrines are made in houses. There are no enormous temples, often abundant in symbolism referring to the Gods, and no division between shrines dedicated to a particular deity.

The cult is based on several existing religions, cults, and systems of belief, including Yoruba (West Africa), Santeria (Cuba, South America), Pagan beliefs of Slavic and Nordic cultures, Umbanda (Africa), Haitian Voodoo (Haiti and other Caribbean countries).

This religion heavily influences the story. The deceased king Louis was infertile and turned to the Old Seer for help. They had a child together, Eli. The scandal had to be avoided, so the Old Seer was assassinated by Madame Tallien to cover up the tracks linking to the bastard son. Her best interest is to place Prince Phillip on the throne. When he learns about it, Eli seeks vengeance, which turns him closer to evil (vengeance is the evilest deed). 

Ori's mission was to steer him back onto the right path (guidance to the balance) and help him lead the Wilderpeople (Eli's prophecy). However, Ori's incapable of doing her duties as a priestess, and she messes up the Ascension, after which the many souls return to the world of the Living as vicious creatures seeking revenge (therefore their look, a blend of petals, plants, bones, and snakes).

Content Update #9 - new playable character, gameplay, UI and visual fixes

Right before the Holidays, we’re here to give you the newest patch so you can enjoy the fresh content during those few days in-between eating and partying.





The most crucial point of today’s update is adding a new playable character – Madmoiselle Flea. She can be unlocked in the rewards menu if you have enough influence points with the Tribe.



Flea’s background:



The story of Flea inspires many kids in The Tribe. With almost nothing by her side from a very young age, Flea worked hard to open a small stand with antiquities in decent prizes. Knowing the craft paid off, and Flea was a smart kid who knew that relying on the law and authorities would never work out.

Flea climbed the ladder by jostling around, meeting the most influential people in Paris, and selling them exquisite pieces of furniture shipped from faraway lands.

At some point, she started helping her people out and opened Flea Market, where poorer Parisians could sell products and services of all sorts.



Being part of the Tribe, Flea also needed to learn how to protect herself. Learning under the watchful eye of Toussaint Louvertoure himself, Flea mastered the deadly blows dealt with a bone-made spear - her trademark item she found back in Saint Domingue, a beautiful remote island in the seas far away that she once traveled to.

Passive: Mighty swings of her ancient Bone Spear deal bonus damage to enemies exactly 3m away.



As you can see, Flea is full of secrets, but she’s also a fierce warrior of the Tribe. But that’s not all we have hidden up our sleeves!



Changes and Improvements & bug fixing:



  • Gameplay: Defeating 4 Pockets of Bliss will reward you with a Carte Blanche, used to unlock cards from your chosen set
  • Gameplay: Higher difficulty levels will now have fewer curses at the start, but higher enemy levels
  • UI: Added expanded tutorial to Prologue and Player Home
  • UI: Talents in the Talent tab will now display all related mechanics, just like cards
  • UI: Cards will now be centered on the screen in inventory view to make things more readable
  • Visuals: Added camera shake to player melee attacks
  • Visuals: The Tribe will now use fearsome Bone weapons
  • Visuals: New, Improved Guillotine Square


Bugfixes



  • Fixed Healthbar UI glitches on very high-level enemies.
  • Fixed multiple typos in Tribe Skill Cards
  • Fixed a bug where multiple Endless Bliss levels would use the same layout
  • Fixed an issue where the last card and talent in inventory were barely readable.
  • Fixed a few holes in scenery.
  • Fixed an error where skipping a cutscene would leave the subtitles lingering on screen.
  • Controls: Using skills mid-dodge will now correctly cancel momentum.
  • Controls: Fixed an issue where dodging right after using a skill was impossible for some skills.

A NEW PLAYABLE CHARACTER is revealed!



Bonjour Mesdames et Messieurs. The moment you've been all waiting for has come. We're going to add a 4th character to our playable roster!



Flea of the Tribe



Flea, because that's her name, will join Liberte with the newest patch, which is planned to air very soon. We don't want to spoil too much, but let that GIF below show you her basic attacks. Do any of you dare to guess what's her passive?



What's her story?

Plans for Early Access - Content Roadmap

Hey everyone!

Following up on our information concerning the development plans, we decided to shed some light on what we have cooking. Thanks to your involvement, we created a schedule for the next couple of months. As promised, we’re back with plans for the development of Liberté.



Since there’s still time in December, we will also release a minor patch with a new playable character and a batch of new cards. The new playable character will be Santa’s surprise, though. Maybe you can guess which faction we are thinking about…

We’re also adding some minor bug fixes and an improved deck tutorial. We’ll share the detailed info soon.

Now, let’s move on with the Roadmap!



Patch 0.14: Liberté story is complete!



We’re pushing ourselves to complete the Story content of the game and, if possible, lock the dialogues and texts so they can be translated next month. This means a LOT of writing and tying loose ends.
Yep, #fingerscrossed!

Kajetan, our number one writer on this one, has even created a map with every single story point leading to another - this occupied half of the floor in his apartment. Maybe one day, we will share the image! The final game will see more than 160 encounters with all the characters. With a few tweaks to the storytelling mechanisms, the flow of the narrative will be more dynamic and throw you right in the middle of the events unraveling.



Patch 0.15: - Lady Bliss final battle & localisation



For those, who will see it through to the end of the revolution, we’re preparing something special.
On second thought, special is probably only one of the words we could use to describe it. It’s also going to be:

Mind-blowing? Probably.
Bizarre? For sure.
Cosmic-horror-body-horror-terrifying? Hell yeah!
Muddy? Wait, what…

Liberté finale will see all of the characters pushed against the wall, in the most turning point since the appearance of Lady Bliss in Paris. Needless to say, you guys will have the final saying in how the story ends - and it’s going to be one tough choice to make.

Aside from that, the translation itself is still an ongoing process – our plan is to collect requests concerning localisations and build a list of languages we should be bringing to you, step by step. Since the decision has not yet been made, you can also help move the needle: If you want to help out, Wishlist our game or join our discord. Each Wishlist includes information on the language (based on location), which adds this valuable information. Also, we will be sending out a survey soon!



Patch 0.16: Final patch before the release



Tick, tock, tick, tock… Time’s getting closer to the release!
Patch 0.16 will be the final patch before the full version arrives. It’s mainly focused on minor game improvements and bug fixes. If you have any suggestions regarding the gameplay or new features, let us know now, so we can evaluate them and prepare a task list to implement the most valid ones in this very patch.

Release Date



This is also the first time we’re talking about the release window. We’re aiming for a Q2/Q3 Full Release, but as you know – based on your feedback and our production plan, this is the perfect spot to fulfill our promises and push Liberte out from Early Access, finalizing the 1.0 version.

That doesn’t mean we’re going to stop there! We have a long list of features we’d like to implement in the game, but right now, we need to focus on delivering the above roadmap. As usual, we thank you for playing, supporting us, and providing feedback.
