Life is Feudal: Forest Village

Decorations and some fixes (0.9.4193)

Hey fellow villagers!

Over the weekend, we managed to significantly reduce the number of crashes that some of our users suffered from. This process is a pretty constant and lengthy process, but eventually we will iron them out sooner or later. Thank you for keeping faith in us!
In the meantime, we’ve checked out some gameplay suggestions that you’ve provided here - and some other good news is that we’ve partially implemented one of the most highly demanded suggestions! You can now add some purely cosmetic objects to make your village a cozier place in the world.

Patch notes (ver. 0.9.4193):

New features and tweaks:

  • Added a couple of decorative objects to build in village. Expect to see more of them in the following patches
  • You can see villager’s inventory now in their details window
  • Predators have a shorter range of sight now and are less likely to raid your pastures/coops
  • Hunters do not chase their prey beyond hunter’s lodge range now
  • Construction materials searching range has increased for villagers. You can now build new buildings further from a warehouse
  • Bad season icon above Gatherer's hut now appears during low temperature, rather than during winter season

Bug fixes:

<*> Fixed a couple of crashes that occurred on some hardware
<*> Game should properly choose the most effective GPU, if your PC has more than one (typical in notebooks, for example)
<*> Fixed this issue causing some crafting buildings to stop working when you change the crafting recipe
<*> Fixed bug where the camera occasionally starts to move on its own
<*> Fixed camera scrolling speed to be different on different PC specs
<*> Some minor optimization and bugfixes

You may also be excited to hear that our development Roadmap should be published later this week for you to check out what we’re up to!

Mega Crash Fix! (0.9.4174)

Hey fellow villagers!

We’ve been working tirelessly, late into the night - fueled by takeout food and desperation - to fix the crashes that some of our players were experiencing (thank you for giving feedback, which greatly speeds up the process!). We’ve managed to solve a large amount of the issues that were leading to crashes - phew.

Please let us know if you still experience crashes so we can get to the bottom of them once and for all!

We also released a patch earlier today with a few small features:

  • We slightly reduced the memory usage of the game
  • Little improvements in the view culling system
  • Added some cosmetic models in the game
  • Caches for game data (like models, textures, animations) are refactored and now work faster
  • Save process now consumes less memory
  • Some bug fixes on multithreading
  • Miners are split into stone/iron
  • Farmers are split into fruit/vegetables

Patch of Stability #2 (0.9.4152)

Hey fellow villagers!

This current patch is strictly dedicated to reducing the amount of crashes and improve the overall performance of our game. We’re still investigating all causes of crashes that seem to occur very frequently on certain PC configurations.

Sorry for this inconvenience - we just want to say a big thank you for your patience and understanding!

Midweek mid-patch(0.9.4115)

Hello fellow villagers!

We’ve just uploaded another patch, which should further increase the game’s stability.

  • You can scroll view by moving mouse pointer to the edge of the screen

Patch of Stability (0.9.4092)

Hey again!

We’ve just released a small patch we’ve mentioned earlier that should significantly increase stability of our game. Thank you for your patience!

First person view aka “Villager possession 101”

Hey again!

We’ve noticed a lot of questions about first person view and what can you use it for aside from screenshots making. We’ll devote this announcement to fight some fallacies around first person view mode. Here is a list of things you need to know about first person view:

  • When you possess a villager you can press “1”. That will issue a rallying command and will temporarily increase working and movement speed of everyone around you including yourself! We plan to add more abilities in later stages of development. We remind you about: suggestions tool where you can observe other players suggestions, vote for them or offer your own suggestions to improve gameplay of LiF: Forest Village
  • If you see a pesky fox sneaking toward your coop and your hunters are too deep in the woods to react in time - possess a nearby villager and slay the beast! You just have to be close to it and click on it the same way you click to perform other actions.
  • You can actually hunt in the wilderness by yourself this way if you run out of furs or simply do not want a wild bear to wander through your village
  • You can speed up construction of key buildings and roads, by doing it manually in the first person view mode. A villager under your possession will not walk around to find a better angle to swing his hammer :)
  • But be careful that if you take over a villager and control him for too long, he can die of hunger or freeze to death!

These are just some of examples - we encourage our players to explore and find new ways of using the first person view mode we’ve implemented in our game!

Weekend patch with a couple of things you’ll like (0.9.4078)

Hey everyone!

Seeing the feedback and watching people experience our game has really pushed us - even more so - to continue creating a game that you can all really enjoy. Therefore, we’re releasing this current patch to address some frustrations that our players have suffered during these hot two days since our release on Steam.

Patch notes (ver. 0.9.4078):

Bugfixes and tweaks:

  • Terraforming speed is 5 times faster now!
  • Serious diseases chance has been significantly reduced. Hospital is a serious high tier building, but should not be required during the early stage of the game
  • Mouse sensitivity setting now works properly for both first person view and strategic view

P.S. You can expect another patch in a 5-8 hours from now with a significant game stability improvements!

Ninja patch has dropped (0.9.4067)

Hey everyone!

Since releasing a game never seems to go to plan, we’ve just dropped a small quickfix patch, which should - hopefully - eliminate most of the big crashes that our players are currently experiencing (thanks for the feedback, it’s much appreciated!). Please let us know in the comments how it’s going. Expect some more patches later today and tomorrow.

P.S. We’ve fixed the female villagers only at the start bug. No more amazonian villages for you! ;)
P.P.S You may need to restart Steam or verify cache to force the Steam update process.
