Life Is Feudal: MMO

Dev News #182

Hello, Feudalists!

We’ve received your feedback regarding our latest update and considered it carefully. The topic of /stuck command was a hot one and we have spent a good amount of time figuring out how to best approach this issue to resolve it in the best way possible. The solution to this problem is already in production and we’ll deliver it in an upcoming update. More details will follow as we release this patch within the next couple of weeks.
There’s also some good news that will certainly improve the mood of the Steam users. We are working on the launcher improvements for clients on Steam platform, which should significantly reduce the time needed to download and update the client.

The next thing we want to mention is a known issue that is of high concern to the LiF community, particularly a number of individuals that resorted to cheating in our game with the use of third party software in order to gain an unfair advantage over others. We’ve recently suspended accounts of those players abusing said illegal software and more punishments will follow for all players that will run their game clients with this mod enabled. Account suspension for the accounts banned early this week will be lifted in 3 months, in March 2020. Should the incident repeat on these accounts after the ban is lifted, the next will be permanent. We will continue enforcing fair play in Life is Feudal: MMO, so all players can enjoy balanced gameplay where everyone is on the same playfield.

Now for the community spot!
Here’s a new time-lapse video sent to us by skif aka betasonic#9628: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj0PW68_bys
Thank you! And keep `em coming, we’re always happy to see your creations!

We wish everyone a great weekend!

Dev News #181

Hello, Feudalists!
Starting with the dev progress - We have just recently released an update with some tweaks and long-awaited changes. One of the most notable and highly demanded combat mechanics adjustments was disabling the ability to wield two shields at the same time. We have also further tweaked lag compensation mechanics and will continue to observe the effectiveness of those changes. You can check the full list of the recent fixes and tweaks in our patch notes.

There’s another thing happening this week, and that’s Black Friday! We already have some great discounts in our shop. We’ve got several of them planned for the rest of the week, so don’t forget to check on what’s available!

Black Friday isn’t the only thing to keep you busy this weekend, though. We want to remind you about an upcoming Grand Knight Tournament that will start tomorrow, 30-11-2019 at 17:00 UTC. You can still register for transfer (both ways) by filling in this form. Note that the transfer registration will be closed today at 20:00 UTC, so if you want to be teleported to the coliseum, make sure to register before that time. Details about the competitions and rewards can be found in our previous devblog and our discord mmo_event_feed channel.

Please note that the NPC commemorating Dannara was slightly repositioned and is now located in front of the school within the same starting village in s31.

Thanks for all the feedback and have a great weekend everyone!

Patch Notes (0.25.29.0)

Hello, Feudalists!

Today, we’re bringing you some experimental changes. We want to see how well are they going to bode into the current gameplay meta before settling on on them for good. This means we’re gonna need your feedback to see how you feel about those changes!
And now, for the full list of updates:

Patch Notes (ver. 0.25.29.0):

New Features and Tweaks:

  • /stuck command has been disabled
    • Developer’s comment: With the climbing system implemented, it seems that this command gives more abusing power than it does help in-game. We want to see whether it’s worth it to keep it in the game or not.

  • Only one shield can be equipped by a player
    • Developer’s comment: The double-tower-shield turtling is something that, in our opinion, favors one gameplay style over the others. We intend to fix that with this change.

  • Damage resist of wooden walls has been decreased from 150 to 130
  • Blast damage from a sapper charge has been increased
    • Developer’s comment: Wooden walls should not provide such strong protection against sapper charges, as they do now. Those updates will work in pair to fix that.

  • An NPC to commemorate Dannara Stella has been added to Zathum-Zar starting village
    • Developer’s comment: We wrote about the loss of our player a couple of dev blogs back. Now we’re bringing her to the game as an NPC, so that her friends could have a way to remember her any time they log in.

Bug Fixes and Optimizations:

  • Lag compensation system has been tweaked
    • Developer’s comment: We’re aiming to bring a more enjoyable in-game combat with this change, so let us know how it works for you

  • Added ability to mass-produce to most of the crafting recipes
  • Updated translations for the following languages:
    • Czech
    • German
    • Hungarian
    • Italian
    • Polish
    • Portuguese

Dev News #180

Hello, Feudalists!
First things first. During last week’s maintenance we have disabled the Halloween event, meaning no more glowing eyes for Knools and also no more special loot for Gloom’s Bomb, however, we have kept the blueprint for this item for the time being, so if you have some unused leftovers from the Knools, you can still use them to craft these special bombs. We hope you enjoyed this event and the Treasure Hunt that we started along with it.
Now to the topic of the game development. There are series of fixes that we are currently working on. Among these are the problems with the Wooden Walls, for which the fix is nearly there. From the more critical issues, the problem with server 138 and the holes in the terrain is among our priorities and we’re doing everything we can to have a fix for this bug ready soon. We advise to avoid that server node for the time being and contact our Support team if you fall through the map, so we can rescue you. One more thing in regard to fixes and tweaks that we want to mention are our plans to improve crafting and make it more intuitive. We’ll reveal more in due time. Stay tuned for more info.

Who said that journey through the mountains must be tedious and difficult? It doesn’t have to be when you have tunnel going straight through it. Big-Chef have dug wide and tall tunnel across the mountain for easier travel from one side to another. Such works required a lot of time and effort, but it certainly makes travels across mountains much more comfortable. Here you can see the video of how it looks from the player’s perspective. And something extra from us, a view from the ‘outside’ to better show the size of this thing.

There’s one more thing: due to the increased amount of reports of cheats in Life is Feudal: MMO, we’re taking a closer look at such behavior. You’ve been warned.

Dev News #179

Hello, Feudalists!
This has been an interesting week. While the production of fixes and tweaks we mentioned earlier is still ongoing, we’ve been happy to see you participating in our Halloween event and sharing some of your creations with us, as well as receiving your feedback and suggestions on possible improvements of game mechanics.

Gloom’s Festival has gained the attention of warriors, hunters and adventure seekers, both old and new. Skilled warriors of Abella have fought their way through the savage hordes and claimed their secrets contained on old parchments, written in a language unknown. They are now studied by the Crown’s scholars, and in the meantime, the champions that delivered them have been handsomely rewarded.

It’s worth mentioning that well known Knool vanquisher, Siberian Bear has also once again taken part in this grand endeavor and, as always, succeeded alone in the fight against the barbarians.

While on topic of the events, lifdamage.online team is preparing to host their own video battle event, where you will be able to send yours and vote for other awesome videos. There are rewards planned for first, second and third place. Follow news on their page for more info.

Now for the community spot!
One of the players, SkinnySurvivor#1867, has spent great deal of time and put a lot of effort into creating something grand and lasting. If you’ll stumble upon a great pyramid somewhere in the desert, you’ll know that’s his work. You can see the presentation of his project, which is still work on progress, in here: https://youtu.be/3jByoS-_u-E
Make sure to send us more of your fantastic creations, so we can share them with the world!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Dev News #178

Hello, Feudalists.
This week the devblog will be separated in two parts.

Eternal sleep
We will start by sharing some grim news with you.
This day we want to say our farewells to Dannara “Cande”, late leader of ‘Cuervos de la Tormenta’ guild, who passed away recently. Her closest friends, Halcón and Javito, wanted to share a few words:

El Cruce and Cuervos de la Tormenta want to say goodbye to our friend Dannara (Cande) who passed away last week. Our most sincere condolences to her family and friends. A friend like her leaves us a very big void, but the pride of having been able to enjoy this game with such a wonderful person. Until always our queen, we love you very much.

    Don't think I'm gone
If one day you visit my grave, don't cry,
    Just imagine that I'm sleeping.
I will visit you with the dawn,
I will hug you with the wind,
I will kiss you with the rain,
And I will sing to you in silence.
    Never think that I'm gone
    because then...
    Then I will have died.

You shall be remembered by your followers and the rest of the community.

Haldayspark and server issues
The last part of the week turned out to be very busy for the Life is Feudal team: due to an unexpected issue during our weekly server maintenance on Thursday we had to recover the data stored in our servers, which resulted in almost a full day of Godenland being down. Once again, we apologize for that.
On a positive note, we’ve used this maintenance to begin the Haldayspark, Aspid’s fest! As we mentioned in our previous dev blog, Gloom has a great influence on the world this time of the year. You’ve certainly noticed, most of your in-game activities now can occasionally provide you with Jester’s Charm. While being seemingly useless on its own, once covered in naphtha, they explode on contact with any living creature! The word is, wild Knools hold a great amount of them, and the Crown has promised to pay a hefty prize for every such bomb that has been brought for research.
Note: You need a Knife in order to craft Gloom’s Bomb.

About the upcoming event
The Crown is very interested in gaining knowledge on the other alchemical secrets that Knools possess. That is why another world-wide expedition is planned for the mysterious blueprints kept in the camps of these savage creatures.
Like in the previous expedition, this time Crown also plans on rewarding the most prominent champions of Abella. Each Ancient Scroll retrieved from a camp will be rewarded with x5 Death Insurances (20), x5 Inspiration Boosters and 5,000 God’s Coins, with groups themselves deciding on how to split the reward. Additionally, the successful team that takes the Bard-Streamer with them will receive an additional reward of 1,000 God's Coins
Information about approximate locations of the Knool camps will be announced tomorrow, Saturday 2019-11-02, at 19:00 UTC, which will mark the beginning of the expedition. Successful completion of this expedition will raise chances of a second one, day after (Sunday 2019-11-03), which, of course, mean more rewards!
Stay tuned for the news on our discord’s mmo_event_feed channel, where the detailed information and map will be published.

That’s it for this week dev news. We wish everyone a great weekend!

Dev News #177

Hello, Feudalists!

First of all, just letting you know that we are still very absorbed by the work on the much-awaited market fixes and improvements. We want to make sure that these changes will adapt properly and won’t cause any new issues, which is why it’s taking a bit longer.
Other things that we are preparing are the changes for Halloween that will take effect next week. This time, the Hermit monks bear horrid news: all the signs are showing, that this time it’s the Gloom who’s got to play with the fates of the mortal inhabitants of Abella! He’s filling the wild Knools with blood-boiling rage and an insatiable hunger for all those who seem to be a fitting sacrifice for their bloody rituals. Travelers should beware of their razor-sharp weapons and unholy witchery. However, the brave warriors who will decide to oppose them will see that gods not only punish but also reward those skillful and daring enough.

From the other news, we’re happy to let you know that we’re seeing increased activity from our volunteers involved in the crowd translation project. We would like to take a moment to thank you all for helping us grow internationally! And if you’re interested in translating the game to your native language, all you have to do is register on http://translate.lifeisfeudal.com/ and just start writing your suggestions which will be later reviewed and possibly implemented in the game.

Time for a community spot!
This week we’re bringing you an amazing LiF inspired 3D model, called Skull Lancer, which was created by user Mak#5166. It is still a work in progress, but we simply cannot wait to share it with you!

We’re incredibly excited to see what else have you’ve got stored for us!

Have a great weekend!

Hello, Feudalists!
We know very well that you are waiting for the next update and we can assure you that it’s almost here! As such, we can happily share that we are currently concentrating our efforts on reworking the market interface and fixing the transaction errors. We know how important global trade is, so our ultimate goal here, which we hope to reach soon, is to make the market more friendly, and stable of course. Next updates will be dedicated to making buying and selling goods more comfortable and free of current obstacles. Also, another important game mechanics that we are preparing are some tweaks and fixes for our combat system based on the feedback we received from you folks.
Aside from the game development itself, we are brainstorming on the next events that will entertain you and maybe inspire you to prepare something of your own. You should remember that we will be more than happy to support your endeavors if you have some awesome ideas for your own event. Make sure to contact us via discord if you want to or are already working on some interesting project.
Oh, and Halloween time is almost upon us, beware the crimson skies, blood moon and glowing eyes in the darkness.

Time for a community spot!
We obviously cannot miss this part where we highlight some of your interesting creations, be it a video, screenshot, a story or something else. This time we want to show off a couple of really nice looking screenshots made by Le Profyteur.
Make sure to send our way your best art so it could have a chance to find its place in our dev blogs along with your name!

Dev News #175

Hello, Feudalists!
Our battle continues as we are constantly working on bugfixes and various game mechanics improvements. The next update with those tweaks and fixes is around the corner. Stay tuned.
Now, looks like you’ve been busy as well! We received reports about an enormous siege on the Merovingers guild. A several months long event that resulted in a battle with about three hundred people working towards their goal. May the spoils go to the victors and best of luck next time to those who lost this one. We hope to hear more of your amazing achievements on the lands of Abella!
We, ourselves, have been making an effort to entertain you a bit with one of our events. The Witch’s Dungeon event that we ran last week have gathered interest of many brave warriors who fought and bled in the dark cave underneath the Abella forests. It took nearly twelve hours for the champions to reach the main chambers where the devilish trophies were located. Three trophies in total brough three champions who received premium rewards for their efforts. Those heroes were: Nordea Maersk from The Terrowin Order guild, LittleArc Jager and Pelagios de Pelagiad from Made in Brazil guild. We want to thank everyone who participated in the event.

Oh, and if you are interested in how big that underground maze we created actually was, here’s a screenshot of its layout:

The maze has already collapsed, but don’t worry. There will certainly be more events to come, so keep an eye out on the mmo_event_feed channel on our discord.

And now it’s time for a community spot!
We’ve been receiving more of your amazing creations from very special places and moments which we absolutely must share with the world.

First, the screenshot of a small, but quite charming, growing settlement, sent to us by Dabakiel:

The second one is a video recording from Amaunet Phoenix, showing the coronation of West Slavs’ new ruler, King Wulfric:

Thank you for sending us all these materials. Keep them coming and we will, as usual, keep highlighting the best of them in our dev blogs.

We wish you a great weekend everyone!

Dev News #174

Hello, Feudalists!
Even though we don’t have an update this week, the team is working tirelessly on game fixes, tweaks and improvements that we will present you in the nearest future.

And to entertain you during these autumn days, we announce the beginning of the long-awaited “Witch’s Dungeon event”. You may expect that expedition map will be published in Discord on 28th September (Saturday), at 20:00 UTC. Good luck, and let the hunt begin!

For those who have missed the announcement, we’re going to remind you what’s it all about:

“Disturbing rumors swept through the lands of the Crown. The insidious natives, cramped by brave warriors on Godenland, are plotting something unholy. It seems that their witches have been devising their plans and came up with new sinister intrigues to bring death upon the good folk of Abella. One shepherd, grazing herd in the mountains, noticed how these unholy savages slipped by the accompaniment of growling wolf packs into the stinking bowels of one of the caves. Who knows what dark secrets are hidden in this underground maze? But the glorious inhabitants of Godenland just do not intimidate! Especially when a good reward is announced.”

A new horned helmet and 7 days of premium to anyone who brings the insidious trophy of the natives from that cave!

Have a great weekend everyone!
