The new playtest version of the game has been scheduled to release on the 7th May. It will be open for anyone to play. This new version of the game will include: - Structures in the world you can scavenge from or live in if you decide to - New blueprints including storage for glass, metal, and ice. - The S.I.P (Spacesuit Ingestion Pipe) Container, as a means of transporting food/drink into your spacesuit. - An overhaul to the ships movement - A progression system, unlock new recipes and blueprints from computer terminals on abandoned satellites. - A Day/Night cycle - Asteroid Storms - So many bug fixes
There will be an optional questionnaire linked in the main menu, I'd be grateful to anyone who fills it out.
As always, thank you for sticking around! Sam :)
April '23 Dev Blog: Upcoming Playtest
Howdy Astronauts!
First of all I'd like to thank everyone that's given v0.03 a go and given me their feedback/suggestions. I'll be running a short playtest at the end of April with your ideas implemented (such as a craftable beacon) as well as the reported bugs removed. I'll also be announcing a release date around then too, along with a new trailer, so look out for that :D
As always, thank you for sticking around! Sam :)
February '23 Dev Blog: Crowbar, Tether, and Demo Fixes
Howdy Astronauts!
As this Dev Blog goes out an update for the demo is now out, this now hopefully brings this new multiplayer re-write of the game back in line with the content level of the 2022 singleplayer version.
The crowbar has been reimplemented for the new version of the game. As before, you can use the crowbar to:
Remove completed blueprints from your ship (any storage items will drop their stored items)
Remove floors & walls from your ship (any further disconnections will also be destroyed)
Pry useful resources from larger debris items (currently only 1 large scrap debris type in the demo)
The tether has also been reimplemented for the new version of the game. The new changes to the tether include:
Change of button to prevent accidental incomplete blueprint deletion (rebind for this button coming soon).
Better & optimised distance calculations
Saving/Loading support. You will remain attached through play sessions. Also, if a non-host player saves attached to a tether, they will spawn into the game attached to the same ship and in a nearby location. (use this to not get lost if your not the host!)
Retracting the tether now also works at any ship speed (finally!)
There's also been some *interesting* issues found with this new demo version. most of which have been fixed. If you're still experiencing issues and haven't already, please send an email to contact@lifenotsupported.com with details of your problem. The addition of the player log and save game data can also be useful (found in AppData/LocalLow/Stubbings/LifeNotSupported/player.log and AppData/LocalLow/Stubbings/LifeNotSupported/saves/SAVE-GAME-NAME/). I'm also active on the forums and the discord so feel free to use them to :)
The trello roadmap is also always being altered as I continue working on the demo and can be found at https://trello.com/b/gCLQveU4/life-not-supported-roadmap
The plan going forward for this month is to continue polishing this demo version of the game, only then I can start adding the content for the 'real' game and start running playtesting through the Steam Playtest feature.
As always, thank you for sticking around and giving the current version of the game a try! Sam :)
Update 0.03.0 for Demo
Howdy Astronauts! The new version of the Life Not Supported early demo is now out. The game now supports muliplayer and saving/loading. To do this I had to re-write the entire game and as a result I've only just managed to get it up to the level content that we had in 0.02.0, except for the addition of the oxygen rockets.
As the first few days of this new update progress, I expect some bugs to emerge that hadn't been found during testing. I'd appreciate it that if you find any issues with the current version, you let me know in the Steam Discussions or on the Discord Server. Also, if you play the demo for a while and create a save you have an attachment to, I strongly recommend making a backup of the save data just in case.
Save data can be found in AppData/LocalLow/Stubbings/Life Not Supported/saves/
Player log data can be found in AppData/LocalLow/Stubbings/Life Not Supported/player.log
Changelog: - Added multiplayer through the Steam Friends system - Added Saving & Loading - Added a new debris spawning system - Added a loading screen - Added an early version of player death - Added a new navigation blueprint - Fixed too many bugs - Added probably a few too many bug back in - Removed the crowbar for now (will be added back soon once I've re-written it)
Again, thank you for sticking around and I hope you enjoy the new update Sam :)
January '23 Dev Blog: Another Orbit Around the Sun!
Howdy Astronauts!
A quick update this month as I'm busy working towards version 0.03 before the upcoming Steam Base Building fest (Jan 23rd-30th):
As of today, the conversion of the current demo to multiplayer is mostly complete. This includes player location, ships, inventories, blueprints synchronisation as well as saving and loading this data with your friends!
The final thing to add before a playable build is available is the new debris system, as mentioned in the previous 'Dev Blog' this will allow a persistent world for you to move through instead of drifting infinitely forwards into a narrow path of debris. With this also comes some ship movement tools, which should be fun!
If there's time there's some additional blueprints and items I'd like to add before the event, but we'll see how the month goes.
As always, thank you for sticking around, Sam :)
December '22 Dev Blog: Syncing Ships
Howdy Astronauts!
Last month I discussed the addition of a multiplayer (coop) mode to LNS as well as the saving/loading functionality. I'm pleased to say that the saving and loading is complete and ready for the 0.3 update with most of the multiplayer groundwork in place also. As any developer would say, adding multiplayer is no small task and as such I expect to take the rest of the month to finish it.
However, I'm also going to redo the debris spawning system before the launch of the 0.3 update (as mentioned in the roadmap) to allow the player ship to move in all 6 directions within a persistant 'world'. So it's looking like 0.3 will be out potentially mid-January 2023.
Again, once this is complete look out for Steam Playtest signups if you'd like to give this new version a go. I'll be posting announcements on that here on Steam & on the Discord server.
I've started a Google Forms if anyone has any ideas or suggestions for the game, which can be found here https://forms.gle/sTqN5q3djhQEJm85A
I'm going to try keep up these 'Dev Blogs' every month here on Steam but if you want more frequent updates I post what I'm doing on the Discord server.

Thank you again for sticking around, Sam :)
November '22 DevBlog: Multiplayer and the Future of LNS
Howdy Astronauts,
It's been a while since the last update post on steam and I've not been able to work on LNS as much as I'd like within the past month. But I'm now able to be back, and working on it at full speed!
As some members of the Discord will have pieced together by now, I am currently undergoing the process of re-writing the game for multiplayer (co-op). During this time there won't be any major updates to the current Demo. I've made the decision now to start working on multiplayer as if I were to do it later, there'd be more work to redo and would use up more valuable dev time.
As well as the addition of multiplayer, the aim is to also improve the how the crowbar functions so that you can use it on structures as well as making it harder to accidently break parts of your ship.
Basic ship movement is also on it's way, as well as the very much anticipated saving/loading system.
Once this update has been completed, I will finally start running beta playtests using the steam playtest system. Any followers to the steam page will get notified when this happens, as well as any discord members.
The updated Trello Roadmap is available from www.lifenotsupported.com
Thank you for sticking around, Sam :)
Update 0.02.0 for Demo
Howdy Astronauts! The new version of the Life Not Supported early demo is now out. The game now starts off with a slower pace than before, and contains a new tool - the crowbar! You can use the crowbar to remove any completed blueprints you have placed as well as harvesting resources from new large debris items.
Changelog: - The temporary build menu has been removed, buildings can be found within the duct tape menu. - Crowbar tool has been implemented. Can be used to remove completed blueprints as well as harvesting large debris items. - Reduced debris movement allows for more freedom when searching for resources. - Music - "How To Play" window in the main menu to guide newer players. - Fixed some bugs and crashes
As always, please use the discord or Steam Discussions if you have any feedback or to report any problems!
Life Not Supported Demo Now Available
Howdy Astronauts! The first playable build of LNS is now available for download. This current version contains basic building, crafting, and survival mechanics. However, it is still missing many core features that the game will have upon early access release. Feedback is greatly appreciated at this early stage.
Please leave feedback in the Steam Forums, or on the Discord server here https://discord.gg/mSBXyPhTwK
I will be running more testing through the Steam Beta Testing soon so if you're interested in helping out, please look out for the announcement!
This build has a couple known bugs, these shoud be dealt with before the Steam Survival Sale Event.
The build menu uses temporary art and cannot be opened whilst holding duct tape.
Held items begin to vibrate over long playtimes.
Scrolling doesn't always work within the crafting and blueprint menu.
