Upcoming Content, FAQs & Similar Games?

Howdy Astronauts!

Just a quick reminder before I start, new content in the game is unlocked from finding computers in ship wreckages. It is not unlocked by default!

Upcoming content & Early Access so far

So, Early Access came out 3 days ago and within the next week or so there'll be a content patch. It will contain some of the content I couldn't get ready in time for the Early Access release such as the wiring tool and solar panels, but also contain some new craftable items such as the SIP (medicine). Overall, after this next update there'll be double the amount of blueprints that there were pre-launch at 28 bliueprints.

Also, within this first 72 hour period, 3 patches have been released fixing the following:
- Fixes item pickup glitch
- Fixes corpse's in co-op being lootablemany times
- Fixes being locked out of save files
- Fixes ships not appearing in co-op
- Many other co-op bugs that stemmed from previous bugs
- A new alert to let you know when you're getting too close to the planet (with enough time to react before fire).
- Balanced potato spawn rates
- Fixed some translation errors
- Reordered blueprint unlocks, pulled forwards more useful blueprint and pushed back more cosmetic ones.
- Added visual guidance on how to drop items
- Removed "Rotate" prompt from blueprint that can't rotate
- Fixed Floor-edges remaining after crowbarring the floor
- Display settings now show the refresh rate
- Fixed UI bug with tooltips on crafting bench
- Fixed keybinds not saving when altered in-game
- Fixed UI scaling on ultrawide monitors
- Fixed some minor co-op issues
- Corpses can now be detected from up to 4,000M away
- Ship movement despawns outside of the chunk spawning radius. So it won't fly off forever when you die.

Please keep reporting any issues and suggestions using F8 in-game. I've been getting reports in game asking 'How do you do X' which as there's no way to directly contact a sender of a report, I've made a quick FAQ later in this post with the common questions.

"Raft-like in Space" bundle

The developer behind Remains, the developer behind Drift, and I have come together to create a bundle of similar games. All the raft-likes in space on steam (that I'm aware of) in one place, with an extra 10% off summer sale prices! Check it out if you're waiting for more updates or just want to see different takes on a similar theme :)

Some FAQs from Steam Forums, Discord, Emails & ingame reports:

Where's the crowbar/tape?
The crowbar is located along the white pillar to in the centre of the starting ship, the duct tape can be found next to the spare space suits. Still having trouble? Don't worry, the game will automatically give you these items if you fly too far away from the starting wreckage!

Why the **** am I on fire?
You're too close to the planet! I've updated the game to communicate this better but turn the ship around and head back into the alpha belt. You can check your coordinates, belt, & biome using F3.

Why can't I find any potatoes?
They can be found in white food boxes in ship wreckages, this is different from pre-early access versions. The recent patch 0.4.0.47 fixed spawn rates if you were having problems with this beforehand.

How do I play Co-op?
The Host must enter a co-op world via the main menu. Once in-game, the host can invite their friends via the steam friend menu (easily accessed through the steam overlay).

Can I make an air lock?
Not currently, air locked building will be added in the 0.6 Plantlife update.

How to progress? (Where to find computers to unlock new blueprints & recipes)
Ship computers can be found on wreckages found throughout the alpha belt (the default debris belt), if you haven't found one yet - keep using your trusty air thruster!

I've lost my dead body and all my loot, how can I get it back?
You can find your corpse & loot it! As of patch 0.4.0.48 loaded chunks with corpses remain loaded so you can always detect their signal.

Also, you respawn with your tape & new crowbars can be found at wreckages worst case!

"I keep losing my ship" or similar
I find the best way to not lose my ship is to use an air thruster along with an tether anchor. However, stopping the ship completely at night then staying in range of your high powered torches also works well.

If your ship flies away from you outside of simulation distance, all thrusters will now turn off (as of patch 0.4.0.48).

Why aren't the translations in my language correct?
English, German, Turkish, Chinese, (and soon Korean) have all been translated by community translators. The rest have been done via automated tool. If you find anything that looks incorrect, or would like to proofread the current translation, please get in touch!

As always, thank you for sticking around and giving my game a go. If you have any questions, feedback, or bug reports about LNS please let me know!

Life Not Supported is NOW IN EARLY ACCESS

Life Not Supported is now in Early Access for version 0.4.0!

There is a launch discount for 15% which will last a few weeks and I do not plan on deeply discounting the game any time in the near future.

This launch will likely be a bit rocky, as it's just me and it's my first game but I'll be reading all the Steam Forum messages, emails and in-game bug reports/suggestions to get this game going properly.

You can view the full roadmap here - https://trello.com/b/gCLQveU4/life-not-supported-roadmap

If you want to help me out with the launch, the best things you can do are:

Report bugs, visual glitches, balancing issues, anything negative via the new ingame reporting tool by pressing F8. Also, you can always just post in the forums or email me at contact@lifenotsupported.com

Post screenshots into the Steam Community Screenshot tab, show other players what you've made!

Help any new players out if you come across any, although I'll be trying my best to get to everyone.

If you're playing LNS in a non-English language and find any errors with translation please let me know, or just DM me if you'd like to proofread the whole translation file for your language.

Life Not Supported has changed a lot over the past 2+ years and I'm determined to get it all the way to 1.0 and beyond!

As always, thank you for sticking around
Sam :)

1 DAY UNTIL EARLY ACCESS!

The Next Fest Stream a day before Life Not Supported enters Early Access.

Next Fest Livestream

Welcome to the first Next Fest Livestream.

LNS will release June 26th into Early Access! (+Next Fest incoming)

Howdy Astronauts!

Life Not Supported will release into early access on the 26th June 18:01 BST (10:01 PDT) in 25 languages. It's been a long road to get here and I've got a lot of work ahead of me to get LNS through Early Access into a full release!

The Early Access version will be a vast improvement on the content and polish than you may have tried during the playtest period and the various demos with more ship wreckages, blueprints, and items! But before that, Next Fest is just around the corner (19th-26th June) and so there'll be a new demo version of the game out from then until release! (which is 1 minute after the festival). Also, save games from 0.03.0+ should be compatible with the Early Access version so you can try out some of the new stuff in the demo without worrying about losing your save.

The store page will soon be updated with an Early Access Roadmap to help illustrate how the first several updates will happen. I'm planning to release content patches every month or two, with Early Access likely lasting years (which is normal and a good thing for Open World Survival Craft games). I hope you'll help me along the way by continuing to give me your suggestions/feedback, and by reporting bugs. You will be able to report bugs in-game using the F8 button and by doing so will automatically send anonymous log files to me, making the debugging process much smoother than it has been in the past.

If you have any questions about the Early Access release, please leave them in the discussion section below this news update or email me contact@lifenotsupported.com

As always, thank you for sticking around. Only 2 weeks left!
Sam :)

P.S. When translating LNS into 25 languages I used some automated tools so some translations may not be 100% accurate. If you want to help translate LNS, please email contact@lifenotsupported.com. English and German have already been completed manually.

Playtest out now!

Howdy Astronauts!

The playtest for V0.03.1 is now out to everyone! Just click the 'Request Access' button on the storepage to be automatically added to the playtest list. If you've played the demo version previously you should be able to use the same save games but I recommend starting a new game to try out the new balancing of the early-game.

There a quite a few changes to this version of the game, from taking in feedback from the demo version and the helpful people at G.Round. For example, to craft items for your inventory you must use the crafting table now instead of pressing C. You can no longer consume items just by right clicking you must instead put it into a S.I.P (Spacesuit Ingestional Pipe) Container with water to transfer it into your spacesuit. Also, blueprints now have limited oxygen and power supply to maintain. There will be automated systems in place to satisfy these later in the games development (such as the inclusion of solar panels, and a wiring tool).

A few other changes to note:
- Day/Night cycle, adequate lighting is now a must at night.
- Overhaul of ship movement, no longer will you drift in one direction for no reason - you must use your air tank thrusters to navigate orbit.
- Vertical thrusters (it's about time)
- Occasional asteroid storms, these are still early in development but are a start of the random events that the game will have.
- Occasional satellite structures, use the computers on these to unlock new blueprints (you can also build from these abandoned structures).
- More in-game music
- Many bugs have been fixed, although I'm sure there's plenty more to come

If you've played this new version and would like to fill out the playtest questionnaire, you can find it here https://forms.gle/83mw51NK2aBxt7sn6

As always, please feel free to leave feedback on the Steam Forums, the Discord Server, or just email me at contact@lifenotsupported.com

Thank you for giving LNS a go!
