Make Wholesome Waves with our new three-game bundle!

Hello everyone!

We’re extremely excited to announce a brand new bundle with our friends over at Hiwarp and Lente - Wholesome Waves!

This bundle features Loddlenaut and two other incredible indie games - NAIAD and Spilled! The bundle name fits pretty well, don’t you think?

If you want to swim or sail across new waters and haven’t picked up any of these three great games, the Wholesome Waves bundle will give you a sweet 10% discount! If you already own any of these three games, purchasing the bundle will only charge you for the games you don’t have, so you can complete the set.

Alongside our pollution-clearing, creature-caring title from Moon Lagoon, Spilled! Also sees you clean ocean waste in your upgradeable boat, whilst NAIAD is a dreamy minimalist experience, where you engage with river flora and fauna to discover a memorable story.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we have some relaxing exploration and ocean cleaning to do.

1.2.4 Patch Notes - No more missing loddles!

Hey everyone! We’ve got a tiny patch going live today that fixes two bugs recently identified by the community.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that was causing loddles to slowly swim back to the Home Cove (and possibly go under the map) when attempting to drop them off at a new biome after fast traveling.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the storage menu to be openable (and invisible) during the ending sequence.

1.2.3 Patch Notes - A small batch of bug fixes!

Hello everyone! We’ve just pushed a minor patch that fixes a few issues that were identified by the community since we released the Goddles Update.

Changes:

  • Added Crystal Crisp and Crispy Cookie to the “Diet” section of relevant evolution cards in the Loddlepedia.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that was causing litter that was destroyed due to the game reaching its item limit to not be removed from a biome's pollution tracking system.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in the Crafting Station menu occasionally displaying the incorrect item when it was opened while using a controller.
  • Fixed an issue that resulted in certain patches of goop redundantly initializing themselves when a save file was loaded, which was increasing load times and causing crashes on Mac.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the tubey melons in the Main Menu to have their item sheen effect enabled.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing following loddles to incorrectly pay attention to fruit that had just been plucked off a nearby plant by a non-following loddle.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing lost loddles to not identify the Home Cove as a valid home location if they were cleaned and then followed the player back home after the player ran out of oxygen.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing a biome’s clean objective to remain stuck at 99% when the biome was fully clean in-game. The game will now check for this situation and manually fix it when a save file is reloaded.

We’re now going to be taking a break from development, but we’ll still be paying attention to bug reports, so we appreciate you folks notifying us of any issues you encounter!

1.2.0 Patch Notes - Goddles Update

GODDLES!

Tucked away in the side of a cliff in Metzi Trench is the entrance to Goddle Grotto, an ancient cave that was left undiscovered by GUPPI. Inside this large cavern are three giant Goddles, which each have their own special ability that act as enhanced versions of the three existing loddle abilities (Purifying, Pollinating, and Energizing). These abilities have particularly unique effects when baby loddles are brought in the vicinity of a Goddle. Goddle Grotto also contains a new fruit-bearing plant that grows a crystalline apple called the Crystal Crisp, which can be used to create the new Crispy Cookie loddle snack!

New Features:

  • Track down every last pollutant in GUP-14 with the Global Pollution Tracker!
This is a new purchasable upgrade at the Shipping Station that unlocks a new view of the World Map. This will unlock in the Shipping Station after you've completed Ripple Reef, Flotsam Flats, and Tangle Bay. This new map view displays all pollution across your discovered areas of GUP-14, with different toggleable icons for goop, litter, and microplastics.
  • The new Pollution Resistance system prevents pollutants from returning in each biome!
Biomes now have a "Pollution Resistance" value that is a measure of how many plants and Purifying loddles are in that area. Goop and litter will not respawn in biomes that have 100% Pollution Resistance.
  • Grow lush flora across GUP-14 with the new gardening system!
Seedlings now have a rare chance to spawn after collecting fruit from a plant. You can plant these seedlings in fertile plots of sand that are now scattered in each biome. These plants grow fruit and increase the Pollution Resistance of their surrounding biome!
  • Expand your inventory with the Inventory Capacity Module!
The Inventory Capacity Module is a new purchasable upgrade at the Shipping Station that adds a fifth row of slots to the inventory, increasing the total inventory size to 25 slots. This will unlock in the Shipping Station after you collect an Electronic Bit for the first time. Also, the Storage inventory in the your spaceship has been expanded to 56 slots by default (up from 52).
  • Discover shiny, radiant, and ghostly loddles with new rare cosmetic loddle variants!
Newly hatched loddles now have a rare chance to be born with one of three cosmetic mutations! These are subtle visual flourishes on baby loddles that will carry over into their adult form. "Shiny" loddles have a metallic shine, "Radiant" loddles are bright and glowy, and "Ghostly" loddles have lighter pastel colors. There are also different things you can do to ensure an adult loddle lays an egg with one of these cosmetic mutations! A diet full of Crystal Crisps will result in an egg containing a Shiny baby loddle, a loddle that has blinked their cheek pads at you many times will lay an egg that contains a Radiant baby loddle, and a loddle that has a spent a long time following you will lay an egg that contains a Ghostly baby loddle.
  • Delve into three new small caves across GUP-14, each containing a special baby loddle!
These three tiny caves contain additional pollutants and one lost baby loddle. These lost loddles are guaranteed to have one of the three new cosmetic variants.
  • Acquire golden versions of your equipment by completing various milestones!
After you reach certain completion milestones (100% clean ocean, all biomes fully diverse, and all biomes fully pollution-resistant), Dave will send packages to the Home Cove that give you golden versions of your existing tools!
  • Unlock an alternate ending cutscene!
An adjusted ending cutscene with new text and music will now play when you complete the ending sequence after you have restored all of GUP-14 (i.e. you have reached all of the milestones for golden equipment).

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue with loddles always wanting to follow the player after being cleaned without the use of the Recharge Ring.
  • Fixed an issue with goopy loddles not being detected by the Scanner Pointer Module on new saves.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the camera to have jittery rotational movement at exceedingly low or high framerates.

That's all for now! We hope you enjoy this expanded version of the game <3

1.1.0 Patch Notes - Loddlepedia Update! (and a loddle plushie?!)

The Loddlepedia Update is available NOW!

This free update adds the much-requested Loddlepedia, which is a new menu that keeps track of all the loddle evolutions you've encountered!

We've also got a new loddle ability, a new type of cleanable plant, a new loddle personality system, biome diversity ratings, and a few more lost baby loddles for you to find throughout GUP-14! Check out the full patch notes later in this post for more details.

But first, speaking of baby loddles...

YOU CAN NOW GET A BABY LODDLE PLUSHIE!

We've seen all of your questions about an official loddle plushie, and we were finally able to collaborate with Makeship to bring you this baby blue loddle! These limited edition plushies are available to order for the next 22 days, and they'll only get made if enough people place an order, so go snag your very own baby loddle via this link: https://www.makeship.com/products/baby-loddle-plush

Now, onto the patch notes for v1.1.0!

The Loddlepedia!

This new menu can be accessed to the right of the Holo-Badges tab. It contains cards with brand new art for each of the 13 loddle evolutions in the game! Before you've encountered a specific evolution, its card will display a darkened silhouette. Once revealed, each loddle card can be selected to display information about that evolution's ability, physical features, and diet. The cards will also play all the different loddle vocalization sounds when they're selected!

Other New Features:

  • Boost Overdrive gives you extra speed while you're swimming across GUP-14!
When Overdrive is triggered, your boost meter is immediately refilled and you have a brief period of increased boost speed (during which your boost meter will not deplete). As for what triggers overdrive...
  • Energy Sprout plants have appeared across GUP-14!
These plants will emit energy particles once they're all cleaned up and they'll trigger Overdrive once you swim over them. The sprouts will then close up and recharge for 10 seconds before they can trigger Overdrive again.
  • A new Energize ability has been given to four of the existing loddle evolutions!
Loddles with this ability will periodically emit a pulse that maxes out happiness for all nearby loddles and triggers your Overdrive if you're close enough to the pulse.
  • Personality traits are now randomly assigned to every loddle.
Most of these traits will make loddles get very happy when they perform a certain action (e.g. a Chatty loddle *really* likes it when you blink your helmet lights at them). A couple traits change the loddle's behavior in a subtle visual way, and there's also a chance for loddles to be born without a specific trait. There are eight personality traits in total!
  • A new Diversity rating can now be seen in the menu for each biome.
This 3-star rating system represents how diverse the biome's loddle population is. Loddles will have slower mood depletion rates in biomes with higher Diversity ratings, which means they'll stay happier for longer periods of time. Be sure to bring plenty of different loddle evolutions into every biome to max out their Diversity ratings!
  • Three new lost loddles can now be found outside of the main biomes.
Be sure to explore the non-biome areas if you want to rescue these little fellas!
  • Autosave will now trigger more frequently!
The game will now silently autosave whenever the main in-game menu (where you see the Objectives, World Map, etc.) is closed. This autosave has a cooldown period of 3 minutes to prevent overly frequent saves.

Changes:

  • Ambient critters will now start spawning when biomes are above 66% clean, as opposed to 100% clean.
  • Happy evolved loddles will now activate their abilities at a slightly increased rate.
  • Tutorial tooltips have been added in the equipment menu, in case you ever forget how to use a specific tool.
  • "NEW" labels will now appear above newly unlocked recipes and orders in the Crafting and Shipping stations.
  • The "All Grown Up" achievement will now trigger when you approach your first loddle evolution, rather than when a loddle evolves from a cocoon for the first time.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue with the plastic Recycle Bot not closing after microplastics are deposited.
  • Fixed an issue with Shipping Station tabs displaying incorrectly when multiple mouse clicks were detected in rapid succession.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Bubble Gun laser to have jittery movement at low framerates.
  • Fixed an issue with certain loddles not displaying the proper emote when told to "Stay Here" outside of a valid home location.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed certain in-game menus to be opened on the same frame as the pause menu.

EDIT (June 27) - Hotfix patch 1.1.1 is now live with the following fix:

  • Fixed an issue that was causing loddles to evolve with incorrect secondary colors.

We have another (even bigger) update in store for later this year... But until then, we hope you enjoy the Loddlepedia Update!

- Loddlenaut Team

The Loddlepedia Update is releasing on June 27th!

Hello everyone!

It's been a while! We've been hard at work on some new updates for Loddlenaut that are coming this year, and we're excited to announce our first one...

THE LODDLEPEDIA UPDATE

This free update will release on June 27th, which is just two weeks from today! It has a new Loddlepedia menu that tracks all the loddle evolutions you've found and shows silhouettes for the ones you've yet to discover. It also displays information on the abilities for each loddle evolution and the diet required to turn a baby loddle into that form.

Outside of the much-requested Loddlepedia menu, this update will include new ways to boost around the ocean, a new loddle ability, new loddle personality traits, new biome diversity ratings, and a better autosave system!

We'll have more details to share in the full patch notes that'll drop on the 27th. We also have another tiny announcement to make that week, so stay tuned for more news from us!

1.0.22 Patch Notes - Jingle Shells for everyone!

Hello everyone!

Our holiday event is now over, but we’ve decided to keep the Jingle Shells item (which was contained in the hidden gift box) permanently in the game! We appreciate the feedback that has been shared about limited-time events like this, and we’ll be sure to keep all of that in mind for future holiday events.

We’ve also got a few small bug fixes in this patch, so check out the notes below for more details.

Jingle Shells!

  • The festive loddle toy that was introduced in December is now a permanent craftable item!
  • The recipe for this toy is unlocked alongside the recipes for the Kelp Chew and the Loddle Buddy. If you already had these two recipes unlocked, you should now see a Jingle Shells recipe when you visit the Crafting Station.
  • If you haven’t yet unlocked the recipes for the Kelp Chew and the Loddle Buddy, you can do so by petting a loddle for the first time.

Changes:

  • The “Who Needs Oxygen?” achievement now only requires you to run out of oxygen once instead of ten times. To anyone who already completed the achievement: We admire your dedication, and we’re sorry for how tedious it was!
  • The fifth inventory hotbar slot can now be highlighted by pressing 5 on the keyboard.
  • The delay before quick depositing starts (triggered by holding out an item near a Recycle Bot) has been reduced.
  • Settings configured via the Options menu (except for custom keybinds) will no longer be stored in the Steam Cloud, allowing for different settings configurations on different devices (e.g. Steam Deck vs. desktop PC).

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that caused objectives to not be tracked properly after switching away from the Objectives tab.
  • Fixed an issue with ceiling lights in GUPPI Campus shining through walls.
  • Fixed an issue with a Star Kelp tree outside of Tangle Bay not correctly saving and loading.
  • Fixed an issue with Recycle Bots enabling the collection of partially nibbled fruit.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the wrong item to be removed from your inventory when tossing an entire item stack using the mouse.
  • Mac - Fixed an issue that was hiding higher resolution options after a lower resolution option was selected.

Gift of GUPPI event extended throughout January

Happy New Year, everyone!

We've decided to extend our holiday event to last throughout the rest of this month. This means you'll have a few more weeks to find the hidden gift box and to play around with the item it contains!

The gift box and the holiday item will be in the game until February 1st at 10am US Central Time. After that, you won't be able to find the gift box anywhere and the holiday item will no longer be in your inventory (if you collected it).

We've read feedback from some of you about the potential downsides of limited-time content like this, so we will be keeping all of your comments in mind as we plan any future holiday events. If you don't get a chance to find the holiday item this time around, don't worry! We're thinking about adding a permanent mechanic that has a similar effect in a future update.

Thank you all for making 2023 such a wonderful launch year for us. Here's to a great 2024!
