We are also thrilled to introduce modding support to the game, allowing players to customize their gameplay experience to their liking. However, we still need some time to finalize the modding version of the project. Devlog #33

Welcome to Friday Devlog!

Scheduled Wipe and Update in Two Weeks

The upcoming update will necessitate a complete wipe on official servers, as we plan to expand the available house building area and modify the number of houses a player can place. The scheduled update and wipe will take place on April 13, 2023.

Enhanced Modding Support and Update 1.10b

Having addressed the most critical issues in version 1.10, our team has been diligently working to introduce modding support, server optimizations, and various quality of life improvements. Our goal is to enable servers with 50 players to maintain a minimum of 20 ticks per second. Although we haven't tested the newly optimized build yet, we are optimistic about its performance following the update. Additionally, we have refactored portions of the code to enhance security and reduce the risk of hacking.

Integration of AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution

In our next update, we will be incorporating FSR support, significantly boosting frame rates for players who have struggled to achieve a stable 60 fps. FSR technology renders the game at a lower resolution before upscaling the image, making it compatible with all devices and a prime choice for implementation.

Update 1.10 Trailer

For those who missed update 1.10, we invite you to watch our new trailer, which highlights the key new features.

Player Survey: Shape the Future of the Game

We value your input on aspects such as wipe schedules and safe zones. For the next two weeks, we will be collecting responses via a Google form to better understand your priorities and guide our development efforts. We're eager to review your feedback, and we'll share the results with the community later on.

Steam Deck Compatibility

We are pleased to announce that Valve has officially confirmed our game's compatibility with the Steam Deck. We welcome any feedback regarding the Deck's controls and potential improvements. As the game continues to evolve, we will address all identified issues in a later stage when it reaches a more complete state.

  • More server performance improvements
  • Sauna now requires to be placed next to the house area to prevent miss placement
  • Fixed item duplicate exploit with player vendors
  • Greenhouse interior missing when placed too close to a house fixed by preventing placement right next to a house

Devlog #32

Welcome to Friday Devlog! We're excited to share that Update 1.10 has just been released, and we're thrilled to see the enthusiastic reception from the community. You can read the full patch notes here. To address some issues that were not discovered during the experimental testing phase, we have already rolled out a hotfix.

Community Manager Update

We're pleased to announce that our new community manager has significantly reduced response times on our contact page and allowed us to be more engaged with the community. We are already planning exciting events and opportunities for increased interaction with our players.

Modding Support Delay

Due to the extensive rework required on the game's code, we have decided to delay the release of modding tools. Releasing them now would necessitate updates to all mods immediately following the 1.10b update. This postponement allows us more time to refine the feature. Once implemented, joining a modded server will automatically load and install all necessary mods, making it easy for players to switch between and test different modded servers.

Please be aware that this feature is still a work in progress and will require further improvements to be fully polished. Get ready to dive into the island with ease and comfort.

Devlog #31

Greetings! We are excited to introduce our new Community Manager, Arttu, who will be responsible for moderating forums and social media channels, responding to player feedback and complaints, organizing events, and acting as a liaison between the players and the development team. Arttu will also be involved in creating and executing marketing campaigns and strategies to promote the game and increase its player base.

Few words from the community manager

Hey All! I am thrilled to announce that I have recently joined the team as the community manager! As a passionate gamer myself, I am excited to be a part of such an incredible project and to have the opportunity to interact with you all. As you may have already read, I am here to serve as the bridge between the development team and the player community. Your satisfaction is my top priority, and I am here to ensure that your voices are heard and that we can work together to make the game even better.

I am aware that there have been some issues with the servers and the game itself, but please know that we are doing everything we can to improve the overall experience for everyone. We are listening to your feedback and suggestions, and we are committed to making Longvinter the best game it can be.

See you on the island!

Korean placeable save loss

We deeply apologize for the recent issue affecting some of our Korean servers, where some placeables are not being saved or loaded correctly. We understand the frustration and disappointment this has caused, especially for those who have lost progress as a result. We want to assure our players that we are actively investigating the root cause of this issue and working diligently to find a solution as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter and deliver a better gameplay experience for all of our players.

1.10 Progress udpate

We have continued working on the upcoming 1.10 update that now includes significant server-side performance improvements, as well as a new queue system that ensures fair access for all players. However, before the update is ready for release, we need to conduct thorough testing to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for everyone. One of the challenges we are currently addressing is how to introduce the new water placeable platforms in a way that doesn't allow players filling all bodies of water with these platforms. We are considering restricting platform placement to specific areas, similar to how point of interest areas disallow other placeables. Following the 1.10 update, we will focus on resolving all bugs on our Github and optimizing and cleaning the code in preparation for the long-awaited modding support. Thank you for your patience and support as we work to deliver the best possible experience for our players. To keep the discussion organized, we encourage players to share their thoughts and report any bugs they encounter on our discord channel "🧪-experimental-longvinter". By doing so, we can ensure that issues with the experimental build are properly addressed and separated from the stable version. We will also inform you about the new updates in this channel

See the image below on how to switch to the experimental version!
