Lost Paws Plans for 2024
Hello Dog Lovers!
With 2023 now solidly behind us, we wanted to talk about our big plans for the game as we rev up development for Lost Paws this year. Many things have changed since we initially released the game. We have gotten a lot of good feedback and looked at what we have produced to this point. After spending a good bit of January reviewing it all and planning, we decided to make some major changes to our original plan for this year.
The Changes
Originally we wanted to work on expanding the world and RPG skill tree as outlined in the roadmap. Finishing up the RPG systems was originally a big focus, as well as expanding the city, alongside fixing whatever remaining bugs might be there. As we got more feedback, we discovered that while more RPG Skills would certainly be welcome and a bigger city too, other problems arose. What we noticed when putting together all the feedback was that various interactions were being missed and additional behaviors were getting lost in doggo's translation. Strategies on ways to play the game were falling through doggo's food bowl, and we began to realize that certain things needed more improvement before we just continued. To address this, we will be making additional support systems that will help out with doggo's tricks both audio and visually. These systems will do more than just help play. They will give the world much more life with NPCs now interacting more and the world giving you more clues about what is going on in addition to more visual improvements. We will also be doing a rebalancing pass on the game to further optimize what we already have done.
But that is hardly enough! We want to make the doggo experience last longer and give all of you a very expansive adventure. After all, Doggo has to face a big wide world out there and it will take time to figure out all the ins and outs. So instead of working on the preexisting systems (which we will expand in the future), we will now add brand-new systems to the game. The main ones will be in the form of a new adversarial system and a specialized trading system just for doggo. We will also include an early form of crafting alongside some surprise new ideas that we will showcase more as we get closer to the main updates.
As for the world itself, we will be expanding it to support the new systems that are currently planned. Doggo City will receive more districts in addition to specialized zones that will work specifically for trading and crafting. We are also planning on adding new instanced zones that will give you new levels of doggo freedom. These changes among many more will make the world feel even bigger and more alive. Ultimately, we think that by making these changes the game will evolve into the doggo experience we've always wanted to create. The new plan is up on the roadmap, which you can read here.
The Schedule
To accomplish all of this, our update schedule will have to change a bit. We did release another update today (more on that in a moment), but these plans will take longer than 1 month to complete. As a result, we plan to release these changes in two phases. The first phase update will be out in early spring. It will mainly deal with the support systems that will make the game more readable and vibrant. That update will be a normal release, and we will announce it when it comes out. The second phase update will likely come out in the middle of summer. This one will be huge, and we will run a special beta for it, so keep an eye out for that! The content for the second phase will be enormous, with several additional locations and all new systems being added into the game.
In between the updates, we will do weekly game-dev tidbits in our discord. We will try to let everyone on there know how things are going and show off a little of what we're working on every week. Beyond that, we do plan when hitting major milestones to run a stream or make announcements on our progress. Outside of that, we will be more focused on working on the game to make it as good as possible.
The January Updates
For our updates in January, both 0.6.9 and 0.7.0 are now live! The main highlights include updated controller support, improved physics for certain objects, and a new chew toy for the doggo to play with, among many other minor additions and bugfixes. You can read about it here.
Thank you for reading! We wanted to thank everyone who has played the game, every person who visited our booth at conventions, everyone who signed up for our newsletter, our discord community, every streamer who played it, every YouTuber who checked it out, every reviewer who took the time to take a look at the game, and all of you who are reading this. All your feedback has been amazing, and we have made it this far because of all of you. We want to make this game into the ultimate doggo experience for everyone to enjoy. Please come along with us to the next phase of doggo's journey! See you all in the next one!
Lost Paws January Updates
Hello Dog Lovers!
We have released two new updates this month 0.6.9 and 0.7.0. Some highlights include updated controller support, improved physics for certain objects, and a new chew toy for the doggo to play with. Let's get into it!
Update Controller Support
Previously, the game had an issue where if you have more then one controller detected in your PC the UI and doggo controls would go haywire with flickering buttons and inability to do anything. We have now overhauled the system to support any number of gaming peripherals without having any kind of issues. We still only support Xinput controllers natively but we now allow for full-swapping between controller and keyboard and mouse whenever you like in the game. We even have added a dynamic help page to show help based on how you accessed the help page. All strange input errors should now be resolved. If anything else is not right with the controls when you play the game feel free to reach out to us on the forums.
Improved Object Physics
Both updates change how physics operates with various objects in the game. The biggest of these is the NPCs. When they ragdoll, if another NPC hits them while they are downed they will continue ragdolling. An example can be seen below:
In addition to that the shopping carts have been more refined and even given new sounds. To top it off the basketball has had adjustments made to make it spin faster and more easily making it an even better device for chaos!
New Chew Toy
We also added a new wearable you can find hidden in Doggo City. Doggo can now run around and be forever happy with the new chew toy!
More Additions and Bug Fixes
Here is a full list of changes made that were not mentioned above:
Pizza guy NPC will now persist in the game like Dog Lover.
Improve NavAgent Priority for Crowds + safety anti-stuck code
Modified the size of the traffic cone-like object near Reading Glasses
Fixed visuals of Donut Lady's Cart
Added more tutorial explanation for how Achievements give you Milestone Points
Improve item text descriptions

The Winter Sale and Update 0.6.8
Hello Dog Lovers!
The Holiday is upon us, and so is the gift of discounts! Lost Paws is back on sale for 40% off! Now is the best time to pick up the game for yourself or someone you like. Explore the world of Lost Paws this festive time with Doggo! 🐕
We also bring news of our brand new update for the sale! In Lost Paws 0.6.8, you can find new audio improvements, a festive hat, and several quality-of-life changes. Let's have a look!
Audio Enhancements
One of the biggest changes we've been working on is how we've been handling sounds in the game. Sound transitions have been improved between music tracks, which is all thanks to our new jukebox system that now manages these things better internally. You can expect more soundtracks in the game as you explore brand-new areas. In addition, combat music will now also be handled more seamlessly due to the jukebox.
Thanks to the changes above, doggo can now enjoy the new music track we have for the districts of Doggo City. You can see a sample of our new song in the video below: The last major change we made to the audio was to some of the grunts major NPCs made. We now have a larger variety of them added in, and just about every NPC has its own unique sound they make when doggo is around.
New Hat and Combat Improvements
While audio was a big focus of this update, we also added some more doggo winter goodness. For the cold times, we present to you our newest Wearable: The Santa Hat! This festive hat lets doggo be jolly all year round:
Doggo combat has also gotten an upgrade. Fighting as doggo is now more impactful thanks to a little bit of camera shake. You can check it out below:
We plan on adding even more to the combat in the next update and beyond. As always, if you have any suggestions, we'd be happy to hear them.
Quality of Life Changes
We also had additional bug fixes and improvements to the game:
Updated tutorial to reflect new controls
Improved car colliders to make them more accurate to the front of the car
Fixed an item spawn bug in Doggo City
Added a collider to the Billboard in town
Fixed a bug involving incorrect Roll Over item textures
Thanks for reading the story! If you have any feedback, please feel free to join our discord! We plan to have another smaller update and additional information on the next big one out sometime early next year. Until then stay safe, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and hope you all enjoy the new adventures doggo has to offer! See you all in the next one!
Update 0.6.7 and Future Plans!
Hello Dog Lovers!
We are back again, and this time have added a few improvements to the game. Stuff like how the balls work is now improved. We also wanted to give a few details on the next update, as well as changes to the roadmap. Let's get started!
Update 0.6.7
To start with, the balls have been tuned to be less crazy. They will now only knock people over if moving quickly, otherwise the crowds will just walk on by. We decided to make this change to the balls to make them a little more realistic and easier to work with.
The next change we made was adjustments to npc name text. This was a more subtle thing, but now whenever you approach npcs, their name text will be more visible and accurate relative to their bodies.
The last change is that the pizza guy npc can now be found delivering pizza in the city. Doggo can now chase him down for a tasty treat there too!
The Next Update and Roadmap changes
We are currently working on our next update, which we plan on having out before December 21st. This update will focus on feedback we have gotten to address various improvements that have been requested in the game. The most important of these are audio improvements and diversification. We want to fix a few bugs have that been reported, as well as make the current audio more robust by adding music and sound variations. Another thing we wanted to add was a few additional improvements to combat, since we felt that for certain playstyles this would meaningfully improve the feeling of combat and give it an additional punch.
As you may have guessed, these changes are not as much the focus of our initial roadmap. We have updated it to reflect this and plan to continue adding more to the city and RPG system early next year as part of our next major update. We are just getting started and still plan on adding tons to the game!
Thanks so much for reading! We can't wait to get the next update out to all of you. If you have the game, please consider leaving a review, as it helps out a ton. Thanks again for checking out the latest update, and see you in the next one!
