Decoration Mode + Sneak Peak at New Resident Room!
As hinted in the Deaddit forums in the demo, we’re including a simple way to “redecorate” resident rooms.
We’ve gotten lots of questions asking how to re-decorate or remove an item that didn’t match with a resident’s room. It’s not available in the demo (sorry!) but here’s a preview of what it’ll look like.
No more pizzas on the bed now!! 😂 (unless you want to keep it there)
Here’s a sneak peek of Chamel’s room, which wasn’t available in the demo. Chamel is a chameleon cosplayer, as you might be able to tell from their room.
We're working on lots of feedback from the demo, including other quality-of-life features, such as a log to review dialogue. I always hate it when I accidentally skip a line and can't see what I missed, so I definitely wanted to include a log!
We're working hard towards the final release, thanks so much for all the support and feedback on the demo so far!

Demo Feedback + More Characters!
In case you missed it, you can play the demo for Love, Ghostie now on Windows, Mac, and Steam Deck! If you have feedback, please do so through the survey in-game or here: https://forms.gle/kxpexSNk9YnyMHC86
Please give honest feedback as it will only make the game better!
For those of you who have played, thank you SO much! We’ve been so positively overwhelmed by the reception and it’s amazing to see so many people excited for the full release!
For full transparency, we are a very small team so the full release will still be some time, but we are working very hard to put the same amount of love and care into the final product.
A lot of the constructive feedback mentioned in the surveys are things we are aware of and are hoping to address in the final release! We will be adding A LOT more characters, upgrades, and things to do in the manor each day.
In the meantime, here is a quick look at some of the characters that were teased in the demo:
Wobbles, the penguin
Chamel, the cosplaying chameleon
Sky, the polar bear
Thanks for playing and make sure to wishlist on Steam! It helps us out so much!

Guess what works on a Steam Deck?
I got a Steam Deck a couple months ago, and I love it so far! I personally don’t like playing games on my computer, since I’m on my computer all day for work. The Steam Deck has been a perfect way to relax on my couch and it’s awesome to be able to hook it up to my tv.
We’re getting so close to getting a public demo out, and I’m very focused on polish / bug fixing, but I also recently added full controller support. After I got that working, I thought to myself: “Hmmmmm…lemme just try to see if I can get it to work on Steam Deck.” I spent a little time setting it up and guess what? It works!
I was honestly surprised at how easy it was to set up and get running. I did a couple playthroughs of the demo on the Steam Deck and made some adjustments to UI elements that were too small on the Deck.
Here are some videos of Love, Ghostie on the Steam Deck: https://twitter.com/janbehchanbeh/status/1644762601388408832
It’s very exciting! I really can’t wait for the demo to come out. I’ve spent the past ~5 months playtesting, iterating, playtesting, iterating, etc and the demo is finally in a place that I’m very happy with (minus some bugs that still need to be fixed 😛). I can’t wait to share it with you all!
Thanks for reading and make sure to wishlist Love, Ghostie if you haven’t already!

The #1 Forum Site for Ghosties
First off - let me apologize for missing last month’s devlog! Just when I think things CAN’T possibly get busier - they do! But know that each day that goes by brings us closer to having that demo out! In fact, I’ve been having tons of playtests recently, so I’d like to share some of my learnings and my ways of addressing issues!
Something I learned is that lots of playtesters are afraid of “doing the wrong thing” or “committing to something permanent” at the beginning of the game - which is totally reasonable!
At first, I thought it was a little weird because "hey, it’s a game - just try it out!" But when I thought about it more, it made a lot of sense. Love, Ghostie’s gameplay can APPEAR to be more “permanent” because setting up couples is a way bigger decision or outcome than something like growing a crop in a farming sim.
Some playtesters were fine with experimenting, while others were afraid to commit to certain actions. So…how do I address this without throwing a bunch of text to explain how everything works? I already have a lot of tutorial text (but tried to make it as entertaining as possible!!), so I definitely don’t want to add more.
I recently created “Deaddit" which is a forum site on the ghost internet that you have access to. It was originally supposed to be a later feature, since it was only intended for world-building purposes. However, I opted to implement it sooner to address these “frequently asked questions,” which serve as guidance for players.
I’ve created forum posts of “common” questions that are posted by other ghost matchmakers, but they’ve actually been real player concerns from playtests!
Plus, it’s way more entertaining to read than a bunch of tutorial text. But, don’t worry - I still have the world-building forums, like this conspiracy theorist ghost who is convinced they live in a simulation…
but that's absurd, what kind of person would build this silly, wacky world...right? 😐 ha ha ha
That's it for this month! Make sure to wishlist Love, Ghostie if you haven’t already!

Cute Opening and New Music Reveal!
2023 has kicked off and it’s already so busy!
I’m currently working on “boring” (but very essential) stuff right now, so I haven’t been as active on social media as I’d like to be. Settings, UI, saving/loading, fixing bugs, controller support, lots of playtests, etc! But hey, that means we’re getting closer and closer to getting that demo out!
I wanna show off something the whole team recently worked on!
You may have noticed some new key art on the Steam page, done by the wonderful Bing!
I love it a lot more than the previous art - plus, we’re hinting at a few more residents that you can ship! My favorite is the penguin, Wobbles! I’ve loved penguins my entire life, so I’m heavily biased 😛. (Happy Penguin Awareness Day by the way!!)
I created this cute opening sequence for our main menu:
There's an AMAZING theme that Sam wrote for it! It has that ghostie feel, but is still super cozy and AH I JUST LOVE IT!! (I play piano as a hobby, so I’m a HUGE sucker for piano in video game music 😂)
I really can’t wait for you all to try out the demo and see all the amazing work the team has done so far!
Sorry for the short update, but working on “boring” stuff isn’t really that exciting to show off 😂 - hope to share more soon!

Happy Holidays from the Ghostie team + Unique Animations!!
Happy holidays!! Can’t believe it’s already that time of year.
Me realizing that 2023 is just around the corner:
I know I’ll be spending the holidays getting in as much relaxation as possible! We have a lot of exciting things planned and that just means a busy 2023! (When are things NOT busy??? 😂)
We’re working hard on a demo right now and it’s coming together really nicely! I’m really excited to share it with you all - hopefully soon! I can’t wait to see all of your reactions to the characters and see who’s your favorite! And more importantly, who’s your favorite SHIP?!
We’re really trying to make each character’s personality shine through their interests, room, animations, diary entries, and something else that we haven’t revealed yet 👀 (it’s a surprise!)
Speaking of that, we’ve added special idle animations that are unique for each character! Check them out below:
Mina
Streeeeeeeeeetch!!!
Gerard
Always listening to music 🎶
Calathea
Slow and deep breaths, absorbing that light 💡
Noir
Keeping up with the latest fashion trends 🛍️
It’s a small detail, but it’s really nice to be flying around the house as Ghostie and see them occasionally do their own thing!
Well, it’s time for me to start my vacation - hope you all have a great holiday and take care of yourselves!
you may have seen me introduce a minigame! People have told me they love fishing minigames, so I made a totally legit “fishing” minigame! 😂
As a ghostie, you have access to the GHOST internet:
You’ll be able to unlock eep!Mail - which is the "fishing" minigame. You write emails by filling in the blanks like mad libs, but it’s slot based! The more symbols you match, the more your email makes sense (as much as it can for these types of emails), which means a higher payout for you!
You use the money you’ve earned to buy yourself better items from eep!Bay (the ghost online marketplace for buying and selling items) that you can later gift to residents.
I seriously did not expect for this minigame to turn out how it did - I didn’t really think it would be that fun but once I tried it out, I couldn’t stop laughing at all the silly combinations. Lesson learned that sometimes you don’t really know if something will work out until you try it!
Anyway, that’s it for this month - please wishlist to support if you haven’t already! Every wishlist helps us out so much.
