We are happy to announce another Maelstrom Madness weekend, 50% bonus Gold and XP til Monday, March 9th.

Dread
- Gained 15% Knockback Resistance (all Battleships now have some KB resistance
- Umbral Plating's Hull Damage Resistance replaced by 25% Hull Hit Points
- Reduced brightness of the wings on Dread's 'Pitch' Skin
- Dread's Dread Spirits now match the color of her skin
- Dread's Dread Spirits will no longer fire from its shipwreck
- Dread's Dread Spirits spawning before match will no longer persist into the match
- Default skin for Dread no longer shows up as "Rubbish"
Morte Shadehowler
- Debuff duration reduced from 8s to 6s. AOE reduced from 700 to 625. Enemies affected now are also impacted by cannon accuracy. No longer affects lifeboats.
- Improved visual for blind debuff

The notorious flagship of Morte Shadehowler, Dread is an ancient floating Crypt with a past long faded into dark legend. As her bell tolls it curses any ship that dares harm her and signals impending doom for any caught in her wake.

Siphon: Cannon damage dealt by Undead ships repair their armor slightly
Ship Passive
Toll: When this ship is damaged by an enemy ship, the attacker's cannon accuracy is greatly reduced until the curse expires.

Dread Spirits: Periodically releases a pulse of souls, dealing damage to nearby ships

- Wickwind Plating - Max speed from 15% to 10%
- Reduced number of cannons from 34 to 32
- Tailwind max speed bonus from +50 to +35. This change rectifies a very old math error that makes Tailwind grant more speed than intended due to out of combat bonus stacking with tailwind bonus.

- Improved loading times across the board, most systems should see significant improvement in this area

Maelstrom Season 2 is Live!
Welcome to Season 2
Season 2 brings all new exciting content to Maelstrom. Headlining this Season is the release of the Undead Fleet beginning with the sloop Wraith and her Captain.
Season 2 is expected to run through the end of April.
New Ship: Undead Wraith
Wraith has some of the highest base top speed and turn rate in the game, rivaling Cinder and Cleaver respectively, though a lower than average deceleration means gives the ship a floaty feeling and requires more accurate maneuvering.
The Undead sloop has no frontal cannons, but features a robust 10 cannons on both sides as well as the aft. The addition of a large number of aft cannons significantly impacts the strategic options available to a Wraith player compared to existing ships where the rear is often the most vulnerable point on a ship.
Undead Passive
Siphon: Undead ships have lower Armor values, but compensate by using a siphon effect where their armor repairs automatically by dealing cannon damage. This means extended engagements tend to favor the Undead.
Ship Passive
Ghostly: When damaged by enemy ships, Wraith turns ephemeral for a short duration and projectiles pass through it harmlessly!
This passive enables Wraith to play more aggressively or successfully get away without taking damage. It can also allow allies to attack enemy ships without fear of friendly fire.
Ship Tier X
Phantom Push: Cannonballs knock ships back. Critical hits increase knockback force.
Phantom Push amplifies Wraith's natural evasiveness, allowing her to control enemy positioning when firing. In particular, ample rear cannons means chasing down Wraith is a difficult task.
New Captain: Merriden ‘Windreaper’ Harrowfel
Merriden 'Windreaper' Harrowfel is the daughter of Axton Harrowfel. A shade of who she once was, now twisted and delighting in the power granted her in undeath.
She has the ability ‘Darkest Door’. This ability allows players to teleport forward after a brief charge time. This ability can be used in Dead Waters or even while being boarded!

The Legendary Mate of the Month for February is a new Legendary Shipwright for all races, including Undead.
For now, it can be earned exclusively via the new Mates of Legend quest.
Please note that last month's new Legendary Powder Monkey has now been added to the existing Legendary Mate Contracts.

Bug Fixes and Other Changes
- ESC key can now be used to close windows and pop-ups while still continuing to function as Quit if you are already on the Ship Screen
- Corrected an issue with some Captain's abilities that could cause them to be unusable during a match
- Numerous typos/fixes have been corrected in tooltips and wiki pages
- Minor fixes to the stats of some mates (no stat changes, only incorrectly implemented or bugged stats)
- Corrected an issue that could cause an engine crash at the end of matches

Season 2 will begin on February 4th and is expected to run through the end of April.
Undead Fleet
Season 2 signals the arrival of the much anticipated Undead Fleet consisting of Wraith, Undertow and Dread.
The sloop, named Wraith, will be released immediately upon Season 2's opening on February 4th, with the remaining Undead fleet will be released during Season 2.
