- Corrected an issue where a Captain abilities might not fire correctly if the ship is being boarded

Patch 13: Holiday Shenanigans and Battle Pass Extension

[Holiday Shenanigans Event]


The Holiday Shenanigans Event is upon us. Gift your enemies snowballs and ornaments by delivering them directly into their hulls!

This event will have you collecting presents to earn a series of rewards. Presents come in 3 rarities, with the rarer ones being worth more per pickup.

For those who are impatient or want the exclusive items, you can also purchase all cosmetics associated with this event in the Holiday Bundle.


Included in the bundle are:

  • Tinsel Wind Trailer
  • Snowballs Cannon Tracer
  • Ornamental Cannon Tracer (Bundle Exclusive)

[New Legendary Mate]


Each race is also getting a new Legendary Mate of the Powder Monkey type.





These new Legendary Mates will initially be exclusively earned via the new Mates of Legend Epic Quest but will be added to the normal Legendary Mate pool once the Epic Quest is over.

The new Epic Quest runs through Jan 22nd.

[Battle Pass Extension]


We are extending the current Battle Pass to January 22nd.

We also added 10 additional Battle Pass levels. For those who have already maxxed out the previous 50 levels, any anchors you earned beyond the max will transfer over to the additional levels.

This gives you a chance to earn more rewards with the current Battle Pass as well as gives us more time to polish up the content for the next Battle Pass.

[Daily Bonus]


Based on feedback, we have modified the reward structure for the Daily Bonus slightly. Gunpowder is rewarded at each intermediate step instead of requiring a full complete.

We have also added snow to the lobby and various maps. Enjoy the festive atmosphere!

Patch 12: Quest Revamp

SPOOKTOBER EVENT


- The Spooktober event ends soon!
- For the final push, we have increased the purple pumpkin drop rate by doubling the rate they drop when sinking players

QUESTS


- We have heard the feedback on quests, particularly regarding how it can be difficult to complete your daily bonus if you have multiple restrictive quests, thus we have made a number of adjustments to the quest system to smooth that experience out
- Daily Bonus now has multiple objectives plus a full complete bonus
- Players will only have a maximum of 1 Rare Quest at a time
- Rare Quest rate increased to 20% from 10%
- "Play Battles" quests outside of the new player experience have been removed in favor of other quest types
- All Rare Quests now have a Title reward
- Many quests now have reduced the number of activations required to complete
- A new "Mates of Legend" Epic Quest has been added, this quest requires you to sink ships of specific races for associated Legendary Mate rewards. Completing all 3 objectives will earn you the "Rising Tide" title along with the Grace cannon tracer.

GENERAL


- Taskbar blinking now occurs a few seconds before match starts, rather than than when entering pregame
- The gold multiplier for the match has been added to the game HUD
- During matches, collected boons now show a cumulative Power Rating to the player to better reflect match conditions (25 per normal Boon, 100 for Eye of the Storm)
- In team matches, gold is now shared among all active team members regardless of whether they were in a pre-made party

BUG FIXES


- Corrected an issue where normal Mate Contracts that become upgraded would not have one of each race
- Corrected an issue where Sink Enemy Ships quests were not tracking properly in game but tracked properly out of game
- Corrected an issue where Deal Damage quests were not tracking properly in game but tracked properly out of game
- Corrected an issue where multiple quests of the same trigger type could cause extra triggers
- Corrected an issue with the Grace cannon tracer tooltip
- Ramming can now only occur once between rammer and rammee during boarding actions (this should address the "chain ramming" issue)
- Getaway now properly displays a "fade out" transition when activated, rather than simply causing the ship to pop out of existence
- Getaway's stealth now properly breaks when ramming damage occurs or when taking any damage
- Corrected an issue where Smash and Grab's generated boon would not disappear correctly (players were getting the boon correctly, the visual effect just wasn't getting cleared)

BALANCE
- Roughneck now has a CD of 12 seconds
- Armor Boon: Bonus from 6% to 4%, Flat Aft & Fore bonus from +23 to +14, Flat Broadside bonus from +33 to +20

  • Harbinger & Leviathan cannons crit damage corrected +150%

  • normalized ranks for surgeon crew healing
  • Ashborne corrected ramming values (she was using Cinder's)
  • Gorger's missing portside cannon has been found & reenabled!
  • Eye of the Storm reworked: Now grants -15% cannon reload & +10% turn rate (instead of 15% hull, armor & sail resistance)

Patch 190B: Matchmaker Overhaul and Balance Patch

GENERAL



  • Made an optimization pass on textures, this should result in improved GPU performance in most areas of the game


MATCHMAKER



  • The Matchmaker has been overhauled
  • Games will now allow for backfilling during pre-match phase
  • We expect this to result in faster queues with fuller games
  • Parties now use a weighted average system for determining the party's power rating to account for large variances in power between party members


REWARDS



  • Gold pickups now increase in value based on the average PR value of all players in the game
  • Team Gold Pickups increased significantly
  • Medals now work in Team Mode


BALANCE



  • ALL RACES - base crew hitpoint increased 20%
  • ALL SURGEON MATES - crew heal increased 20%
  • LEGENDARY MATES - normalized most drawback values across ranks for most mates
  • Stonelegs Orpik (Dwarf Quartermaster) - Reload Speed decreased 5% (buffed)
  • Steamscreamer Marden (Dwarf Navigator) - Top speed increased from 10% to 20%
  • Powderburns Mikel (Dwarf Powder Monkey) - Gained crit chance 6-10%
  • Cricket Rudderbuster (Human Helmsman) - Turn Rate increased from 10% to 15%, Turn Accel from 50% to 40%. (Overall better turn rate)
  • Platecracker Gunports (Ashborne) - 20% hull penalty removed
  • Phoenix Bulkhead (Cinder)- Hull bonus from 60% to 40%. Now correctly reduces boarding duration by 10%
  • Wickwind Plating (Cinder) - Gained +5% acceleration
  • Marksmen Towers (Fury's Hold unique) - Marksmen volley cooldown from 7s to 9s
  • Raider Deck (Cleaver) - Crew Damage converted into +35% while boarding instead of a flat value
  • Ramming Damage - Speeds to achieve max ramming damage increased for all ships

Refunds and Captain/Tier X Balance

GENERAL


- A new refund system for owned items has been implemented for purchasing bundles in the stores
- Items purchased for Gold and Gunpowder will both be eligible for refunds at their full amounts, with Gunpowder capped at the cost of the bundle (for example, if you already bought a skin worth 2000, and purchase a bundle with that skin that costs 1500, then the refund will be 1500 if you purchase that bundle, making it effectively free)
- Refunds have been retroactively applied to players who previously purchased a bundle in which they already owned some of the items (this refund will be conferred automatically upon login based on your account history)
- The "Level 1 Mate Chest" in the store is now guaranteed to have one of each of Human, Dwarf and Orc (other chests do not have this behavior)
- Adjusted pricing on some cosmetics (Skins are now 2000, Tracers are now 500, and all titles are now 100 GP)
- Team colors have been adjusted
- Cannons are now disabled for a few seconds at the start of match to prevent accidentally firing due to clicking during pre-match
- Improved readability of scrolling combat text by making them scroll up instead of down
- Restructured Captain Quest to be one large quest with 3 objectives (1 for each race), note that this will only affect new accounts

BUGS


- Roughneck and Smash and Grab no longer incorrectly allow for drops of Repair Boons
- Roughneck no longer incorrectly affects allies in Team Mode

BALANCE


- Stormanchor (Tier X: Autoshield): Now requires 75 damage to activate to reduce NPCs from triggering it. Shield health increased from 200 to 300. Shield duration increased from 12s to 20s.
- Cleaver (Tier X: Scavenge): Repair increased from +3 to +7 per chest, repairs armor & hull
- Ashborne (Tier X: Incendiary Rounds): Duration increased from 10s to 15s (total damage increased as a result from 70 to 120 direct hull dmg over time)
- Bloodfin (Tier X: Vengeance): OLD: While hull is damaged gain 10% crit chance. NEW: Procs on armor & hull damage. Reload decreased 60% while active. Cannons -100% accuracy. Duration 7s. Cooldown 25s
- Tempest (Fade): Cooldown increased from 35 to 45
- Infernos Wake (Morrigan): Phoenix damage on impact from 45 to 100
- Torpedos (Anvil): Damage from 120 to 145 (each)
- Water Mines (Brick): Damage from 125 to 160 (each), cooldown increased from 30s to 35

Spooktober Event!!!

SPOOKTOBER EVENT!



  • The first Maelstrom game event is upon us!
  • Collect Pumpkins of different rarities to earn rewards in this limited time event!
  • Rewards include: "Boo-ty Grabber" Title, "Cacklejack" Tracer and "Bonfire" Trailer, and up to 350,000 Gold, 30 Anchors and 250 Gunpowder
  • The cosmetics associated with the event are also available as a Special Store Bundle for Gunpowder that includes the exclusive "Spooker" Airship
  • The main menu has been spookified with a seasonal treatment


MATCHMAKING


  • Modified the matchmaking parameters to facilitate matching high power rating ships together faster


GENERAL


  • You can now view and upgrade other ships without being kicked out of the queue (upgrading the ship you are currently queued as will still kick you from the queue)
  • Thrasher now has a "heatseeker" mode if it fails to navigate to the target after some attempts
  • Thrashers no longer deal AOE damage when attacking
  • Mini-Thrashers are now deployed to attack a ship that somehow remains alive for too long within Dead Waters
  • Taskbar icon will now blink when you have loaded into the pre-match lobby
  • Individual hardpoints can now be un-equipped
  • Boon ships and Lifeboats now have modified Name Plates to differentiate them from active Enemy ships
  • Ability buttons now show a numerical cooldown value


TEAM MODE


  • Enemy Teams now each have their own colors (the player's team remains blue no matter what)
  • Enemy Teams now show as their own color on the mini-map
  • Team stats are now calculated on a per player basis
  • Team stats now have an assists column


BUGS


  • Corrected an issue on maps where some areas of the map were not navigable by the AI (including Thrashers)
  • Corrected description of Getaway to reflect duration of 7 seconds
  • Corrected an issue with the Acceleration stat display
  • Corrected an issue where being boarded could trigger a boarding cooldown incorrectly
