Magma Chamber update 0.25



Hay everyone, it's been a while so here's whats new in 0.25

Added



  • World and level music.
  • Back button on level select screen.
  • Key UI element.
  • 3 levels to world 2.
  • Teleport animation.
  • Proper main menu.
  • Misc visual effects.
  • Indiekeep logo intro audio.


Changes



    Rotating eye hazard
  • Now rotate counter clock wise and laser starts 180 degrees from players location on activation.
    Pushable blocks
  • Now activate when key is pressed next to block instead of based simply on proximity.
    Keys
  • Now stack instead of being a boolean value.
    Warp/Teleport pad
  • Completely rewrote this mechanic again, hopefully they wont be as buggy. If you have a problem with them, please post in the forums.
    Player stuck detection
  • Added a few new cases to this function based on the new pushable block functionality and a few small cases that were not documented before. Will continue to add new cases to this function as a quality of life feature.


Bug Fixes



  • Fixed a couple of visual effects were not rendering correctly.
  • Fixed audio looping when pushable blocks where colliding with walls.
  • Fixed a rare case of lava audio stacking infinitely.
  • Fixed a bug that would caused the player to randomly die when exiting a warp/teleport pad.


What's Next?


My goal for the next patch will be splitting all music and audio samples into groups allowing me to change the volume of them separately. This will allow me to add volume controls to the options menu. finally... I have a idea for a end of level screen to show progress and stats of that level. The first iteration of this feature should be in the next patch as well.

I have been thinking about reorganizing the level order to improve the difficulty curve and skill level of the puzzles. Player progression does seem a little random on a per level basis and I want to make that more enjoyable.

Magma Chamber bug fixes and version 0.20

I fixed one of the most seroius bugs in the game over break. Teleporting will no longer allow you to glitch around the map or move while the animation is still playing.

Whats up everyone! I just shipped a small patch that added a few new things and some tweaks. Hope you check it out!

Patch notes:



  • 3 new achievements.
  • Added tutorial.
  • Added level 12 to world 1.
  • Level 7 has been changed into sovi's house!
  • small tweeks to levels 1 and 10 in world 1.
  • Small gameplay tweaks in a few undocumented places.

The Boiler Room Update: Part 1



Hello everyone! Today is the first day of the The Boiler Room Update through out the week im going to be rolling out some important updates. Today I pushed out partial controller support, new ui, and some small gameplay tweaks. I am going to spend the rest of this week on a second pass of world 1 as well as making world 2 live for everyone to play. There is 2 levels in world 1 that im really not happy with the quality of them so they are going to be completely redesigned. My goal is to have the new world 1 levels and world 2 ready for public release in less than 48 hours. I just have to make sure they are working right and are fun to play. Hopefully I can get a nice content schedule down now that all my tools and engine features are complete. My current goal is to have a major patch every 3 weeks starting today with smaller tweaks in between each patching until full relase Q1 2017.

Now lets get into some patch notes...

Whats New?



  • % bar for tile completion
  • Complete UI overhaul
  • Controller support for world map and levels
  • New title screen
  • Level names
  • Death screen
  • World 1 boss fight
  • Dynamic resolution scaling(new minimum windows size 1280x720 3x bump in resolution wow!)



Changes and bug fixes



  • some small cosmetic change to lava,ground, and wall tiles
  • Fixed some random cases of player death that shouldnt happen
  • Fixed some rendering errors based on wall collision checking


Known bugs



  • When exiting a teleporter you can still move while being transparent if you continue to press a direction button while teleporting
  • Sometimes wall shadows dont render correctly

Full controller support and new levels coming next week!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still working on the game. I went to Lexplay last weekend and had a whole lot of fun. I think next weeks content update will help me big time with the development of the game most of the new ui is finished as well as the content creation systems. Going to keep grinding out development shooting for a late Q1 2017 or early Q2 2017 release window.

Magma Chamber v0.08 Patch 2



Level 10 and 11 in chapter one where broken in the exe the last patch shiped with, I have fixed this problem. I also changed how the game is packaged as well as a bug with the tiles remaining calculation.
