SSB Gender-locked Item Issue Update
Hi Maplers,
Our internal teams have once again reviewed the compensation plans that we shared in the Surprise Style Box Gender-locked Item Issue post that went live August 27th. We realized that we may not have taken into consideration the non-Zero characters that were affected by the lack of clarity on how gender-locked items are obtained from the boxes. To provide compensation that will encompass non-Zero players affected by the issue, we are planning to adjust our compensation plan for Zero and non-Zero characters that received gender-locked items from opening a purchased SSB item. When we discussed the overall compensation once again, we came to the conclusion that the Royal Hair/Face Coupons may not be the proper compensation for this issue. Thus, we replaced the previous compensation with the newly updated plan. Please refer to the newly finalized compensation plan below.
All Accounts with Lv. 30 Character For players who have an account with a character Lv. 30 and above (including players that meet the below criteria) created prior to August 27, 2021 at 11:59 PM PDT will receive the following items as a token of our apology for the incorrect information we provided:
Accounts that Purchased SSB Items (Zero and non-Zero characters) For accounts that received gender-locked items from opening a purchased SSB item between April 22, 2015 and August 27, 2021 at 11:59 PM PDT, you will be given two selection options.
The eligible players will receive the following two selection options: The eligible players can utilize this system to either obtain Maple Points or the counterpart item for the gender-locked SSB items that were received. Since this will be a new system, our MapleStory team is working to develop this feature to provide compensation for the affected players. We’ll update with more details, such as the date, in a future post. Again, we express our sincere apologies for the SSB gender-locked item issue and we thank you all for your patience.

We're aware of the recent community concerns about the issue with the Surprise Style Boxes (SSBs) containing gender-locked items. As we complete our review of this issue, we would like to share the details of what we have discussed.
First, we would like to express our sincere apologies concerning how items can be obtained from these SSB items. We acknowledge that there was an issue where Zero characters were not able to obtain some gender-locked items listed. They, having both Alpha and Beta, should have been able to obtain either gender-locked items depending on which gender is active during the time the box is opened. However, they were only able to obtain male and unisex items up until our v.225 game patch update.
Also, there was an issue with the way the SSB rates were published on our website which caused confusion about how the items were given depending on the gender of your character.
To better clarify the circumstances, our SSB rates pages currently indicate that all items have an equal chance of being obtained, but the way the percentage rates were displayed was misleading because it shows each gender-locked item as having an equal chance of redemption each time the box was opened, even though it was not feasible for male characters to receive the female equivalent item and vice versa. This means that there was a shared chance of obtaining eithera male or female item (depending on what gender you are opening the boxes with) instead of having equal chances of obtaining eachgendered item from the list.

We apologize for our error and the lack of clarity on the distribution rates for the gender-locked items, which led to us presenting misleading and confusing information on our website. Going forward, we will include additional items in the SSB reward pool if there are gender-locked items included in the SSB reward to account for the shared slot of male and female items, so that each probability slot will have a fixed rate of 2% (or 1% if there are 100 slots).
As a sincere apology, we are planning the following compensation:

Again, we sincerely apologize for having misleading SSB item rates information on our website. We’ll clarify the rates and indicate the gender-locked items on the current SSB rates pages as soon as possible and provide the accurate rates for all Surprise Style Boxes going forward.

Pink Bean Bulletin - v.225 Issues (An Update)
Hi Maplers,
First, we apologize for the inconvenience you may have experienced due to the issues discovered after the v.225 update maintenance. We received numerous reports from players about disconnection and crash issues from various contents in the game and we would like to thank you for your reports. Everything has been relayed to the team for investigation and we have been looking into them with high priority.
Many of you have asked about the ETA of an unscheduled maintenance and we weren’t able to provide details since we first had to determine what type of maintenance was required to apply the necessary fixes in order to stabilize the servers. To give you all a brief update, we are currently preparing a v.226 major patch maintenance to address some of these critical bugs and issues discovered after the v.225 maintenance. Thus, making the v.225 update the shortest update we’ve had so far…!
Despite the version up from v.225 to v.226, all contents and events will stay the same while the fixes to the live issues will be applied with the major patch update. We’re also working on a compensation plan to apologize for the inconveniences you experienced while playing MapleStory after the v.225 update. The compensation details will be shared in a future post at a later time, as we are focusing on getting the maintenance out as soon as we can.
At the moment, we are in the process of testing the v.226 files with the fixes for the various issues. We are aiming to have the unscheduled major patch maintenance later this afternoon, or by tomorrow morning at the latest. We’ll provide the details on our maintenance post once it has been finalized.
